If difficulty keeps doubling for the next 14 months i think the price will be through the roof. So we are not exactly fucked  Tongue

it will be very nice for people who own bitcoin, yes
but there is a whole world outside of bitcoin

I 'm not sure what you mean exactly. After all it's not like miners will to take away electricity from the rest of the world just to power their machines  Roll Eyes

I 'm worrying most about bitcoin clients that look like software from the 80's.  Roll Eyes
303  Other / Politics & Society / Re: “We cannot trust” Intel and Via’s chip-based crypto, FreeBSD developers say on: December 14, 2013, 03:31:18 AM
I wonder how hard is for engineers to tear a chip apart and find out if indeed there is some backdoor of any kind  Huh
304  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Alt-Coins on: December 14, 2013, 03:11:48 AM
Don't bother mining QRK any more, most of them are already mined and the reward is down to nearly negligible.

You can use it as a good trading medium though; I think it's tending to go up relative to the value  of most altcoins.

Even if it goes up, is there any real reason for that? There are way to many concerns around quark  Roll Eyes
It's community though did a very well job in promoting it.
305  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Difficulty level predictions - is mining toast - Is everyone heading into war on: December 14, 2013, 02:56:28 AM
It's hard to find profitable options for mining equipment. Your math are good but you should do your calculations based on how many bitcoins you can buy instead of the mining equipment.
306  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will accepting bitcoins increase my sales on my website? on: December 14, 2013, 02:49:35 AM
Bitpay runs a nice catalog of businesses accepting bitcoin. I guess your site should be already there.
307  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Something Like the DigitalCoin Free Bank Exist for Bitcoin? on: December 14, 2013, 02:44:05 AM
The only problem here is that you should trust the guy issuing the options.
You don't want the site to get "hacked" or something during a huge price dip  Roll Eyes
308  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alternate crypto currencies compared to bitcoins? on: December 14, 2013, 02:33:30 AM
Both the alts that you mentioned are among those that have the higher chances to succeed. Litecoin is already an established alt coin with a solid user base and a strong network and peercoin offers some genuine features over bitcoin like proof of stake.

pand70, what's your take on Groupbuys? Are they any more profitable than mining services?

It depends on what the groupbuy is for. Usually groupbuys are for preorders and preorders are risky and with the products coming many months later.
311  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: cloud mining on: December 14, 2013, 01:46:51 AM
I have yet to see a cloud mining service where you can actually profit. People soon realize that they have to spam referrals to make up for the bad deal  Tongue
312  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Using my small business to mine Bitcoins on: December 14, 2013, 01:46:23 AM
If you don't care about electricity cost then it won't hurt you to try and mine some altcoins. Download cudaminer to max your results for the nvidias.

Seasonal coins give a new meaning to pump and dump. Why not santacoin anyway?

315  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 2013-12-09 LiteCoin is Causing Shortages of AMD Radeon GPUs on: December 14, 2013, 01:26:00 AM
If the same shortage applies to nvidias then litecoin has probably nothing to do with that. But if nvidia's are still available for sale then mining might have something to do with it.
Also don't forget that an average gamer buys 1 gpu while an average miner buys a lot more.

You think that people are ready to buy only days after bitcoin lost half of its value?
It 'll take time for confidence to be restored.
318  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Everyone doing cryptocoins should be using Linux as OS on: December 13, 2013, 03:06:07 AM
Ok thanks for your answers everyone. I think i 'll go through the learning curve and try linux sometime soon. I mean with bitcoins close to 1000$ i 'll need as much security as i can get  Tongue

If you want to play with a user friendly distro I would suggest ubuntu.

You can download it, put it on a flash drive with the Persistence option so you can save things and boot from it and play around.

Actually i 've done that already but only tried it a few times just to get a feeling but with the "try it without installing" option
I 'm not sure that i noticed a persistence option. I 'll check again.
319  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Invest all my money into QRK Coin on: December 13, 2013, 03:01:25 AM
DO IT!!!  ...but make sure you have a solid EXIT STRATEGY...   Wink

Wanting for quark price to rise is one thing and giving bad advices is another... What if a member of your family asked you the same thing?
Whould you advised him to put all his money on quark?

Guess you missed the part about the solid EXIT STRATEGY!?!?!?!?!

I didn't missed it, it's just that saying "solid exit strategy", sorry i mean "solid EXIT STRATEGY" doesn't mean anything.
Except if you want to share some solid EXIT STRATGies with us..  Roll Eyes
