Isn't there like a big useless desert in North Africa? The Sahara? Just fill it with solar panels completely.

I don't think that the desert is the best place for solar panels. I mean the environment there is very hostile and the landscape changes constantly.
262  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Wallets require very long time to start - is it normal? on: December 14, 2013, 12:22:39 PM
Just download one of the lightweight wallets like multibit and electrum. There is absolutely no need to run bitcoin-qt as your wallet.
263  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Only 4 altcoins exist that provide additional value over bitcoin... on: December 14, 2013, 12:16:20 PM
I don't agree with people that are looking for extra value to cryptocurrencies but if so you should add primecoin to the list.
264  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New alt coins? on: December 14, 2013, 12:07:24 PM
Hi,
Noob question here - Is there some kind of thread / blog / website that has the info for new alt coins releases (and is updated the same hour / day)?
I find it useful to mine new alt coins the minute they are released as this seems to work well profit-wise (just like the amazing DogeCoin Smiley )

Thanks

How much profit did you made from dogecoin? And how? Since i don't think there is anyone that will ever buy dogecoins  Tongue
265  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: A -=WARNING=- TO FELLOW CRYPTO SELLERS (I HAVE JUST BEEN SCAMMED) on: December 14, 2013, 12:05:21 PM
It is already noted thousands of times in this forums than selling bitcoins for paypal should be avoided because of how easy is for the buyer to claim a chargeback. Gl on getting your money back.
266  Other / Meta / Re: Split from: [WTB] Bitcointalk accounts on: December 14, 2013, 11:59:33 AM
I'm thankful to the member who stopped me, but I think a list is needed of all the accounts that people have sold.

And how is it possible for such a list to exist? Also as someone said before trust noone and you should be fine  Tongue

Wouldn't be easier to just post the coins that you think that are in a way legit  Embarrassed

when 1 Bitcoin equals $10,000 a Satoshi hits Indonesian Rupiah Parity

$10000 is a psychological milestone by itself. There is no need for any more references for its price if it reaches that level.
Cool notice though  Tongue
When/IF, BTC ever hits 10k, we all gonna die.

You mean because such a rise will cause a physical effect that will wipe out life from earth?  Tongue

I don't know why but i had a feeling that there would be a photo of a super scrypt mining rig in this thread  Embarrassed
271  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it SAFE to hold bitcoin on Mt GOX? Urgent on: December 14, 2013, 11:06:02 AM
I would not ever use online wallets like blockchain for storing any substantial amount, they are a target for hackers and their security can be compromised. Or the service operator may decide one day, that it's more profitable to steal all clients wallets, than run the service.

In the case of blockchain.info the private keys are stored locally on your computer and they don't have access to them so it's way safer than other online wallets.

So don't take things from lousy translations as fact. Every idiot copied from the same BS source. Noone read the original statement in german.

After the bank of china notice people desperately looking for good news that involve two words. Government and currency.

That kind of weird activism gives me the feeling that bitcoin will never become mainstream  Embarrassed
Weird activism?
Consider it distributed advertising.

I think we are done with that kind of advertisement already.
I might be wrong but i can't think of something more flaky than a guy waving a bitcoin flag in the south pole  Roll Eyes

If jpm's patent ever gets approved i don't think that you have any chances to stop the panic sell. Even with that wall of text  Tongue Tongue

What swiss vote? You mean the question in the swiss parliament for a report around bitcoin?
278  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin ideas: Renaissance coin on: December 14, 2013, 08:42:31 AM
Renaissance coin combines the best classical features inherited from bitcoin with modern, completely re-thought ideas. If something is not broken - we leave it as is. For example the deflationary nature of bitcoin works perfectly fine. On the other hand, new features like encrypted blockchain, stochastic hashing, blockchain that scales as the number of nonempty wallets increases (as opposed to one that scales with the number of transactions), and other innovations will soon become necessary. We are still in the process of choosing the features to be included. The client will be written from scratch.
What new features would you like to see in an altcoin?

P.S. Renaissance coin is a placeholder name

Care to explain that stochastic hashing? Also what do you mean by non empty wallets?
279  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: can satoshi kill bitcoin? on: December 14, 2013, 08:32:37 AM
Satoshi can drop the price of bitcoin to zero if he decides to sell his massive stack. Other than that you are not following anyone except yourself with bitcoins.
