301  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Full Nodes to College Campuses on: February 04, 2016, 06:49:56 PM
Unfortunately I am not a student at this college but an employee.

Oh, I though you were a student at the IT dep. Well, that's a different question then. From my experience, I didn't have much success convincing people that bitcoin is great but they are convinced that it's an interesting technology nonetheless. I had to calculate how much bandwidth and hardware the node would use and then pointed our IT guy to a server with spare processing power. He thought that the idea of having a piece of software that relays financial transactions in our class was funny so he let me do it anyway despite the fact that he doesn't seem to think BTC is very viable.
302  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Full Nodes to College Campuses on: February 04, 2016, 06:05:48 PM
I hosted a BTC node in my school for a while but I had to limit its resources so it wouldn't cripple other software running on the hardware at rush hours. It got tiresome with all those stress test causing it to crash almost daily so I shut it down. All I had to do to convince my professors was to explain bitcoin's capabilities and how it's interesting technology helps solve certain problems other ungoverned internet currencies could not. If your professor is open minded and able to understand the role of bitcoin nodes he might let you do it as well.

Do your professors have experience with open source? A good point you could bring up is the fact that the code for bitcoin nodes has been reviewed by thousands of people. It's good at doing it's job while actively being checked for bugs by many experienced developers. But if your request is still denied then no biggie, your lessons are more important to you anyway.

309  Other / Archival / Re: SearchTrade.com - Get Paid in bitcoins for every search | Invest in keywords on: January 31, 2016, 09:59:27 PM
I think the profit line for most of us invested in keywords is going to be 100,000 registered users.

Is this serious? If it is, I hope that you're able to realize that you basically made the worst "investment" of your lifetime.
310  Economy / Auctions / Re: CS:GO Steam Gift on: January 31, 2016, 09:24:50 PM
The timer has run out, and it doesn't seem like anyone has offered yet. If the offer still stands, though, I can offer 0.015.

Hmm, the price moved down since I started the auction. I'll lock this topic as the auction is now over with no bids as you said. If you have a better offer free to PM me.
311  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Bitcoin classic", brought up by literal crooks on: January 28, 2016, 05:59:04 PM
Classic has been losing reliability and credibility, as to my knowledge, the development has been quite stagnant
There may be more development in secret. Rather than having public activity on github they seem to have mostly done code dumps with their initial patches. It certainly seems more dead than even XT did.

I agree that it's shady but I'm curious, would you change your mind if the code was released and it was good? Or does it come down to trust?
312  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Part 3 – Much more on why clues suggest Peter Todd is probably Satoshi on: January 28, 2016, 02:02:52 AM
Theymos was ~18 when he he created the first block explorer, Peter Todd was 16 when he was discussing p2p payments with Hal Finny. I'm starting to believe that bitcoin was created by a gang of teenagers and just got out of hand in the process.

"Okay, hear me out! Here's the plan to take control of the world's money supply from them white banker dudes. First, we create this Japanese dude..."

Japanese are stereotypically portrayed as intelligent. Plus it's a good scapegoat if someone comes banging on your door asking you if you're the creator of bitcoin and owner of millions of dollars worth of it.
313  Economy / Auctions / CS:GO Steam Gift on: January 28, 2016, 02:00:16 AM
I am auctioning a giftable copy of CS:GO on steam.
Starting bid: 0.015BTC

Minimum increasement: 0.002BTC

Auction end:

Note that I might terminate the auction if bitcoin's price drops too much.

In this chat the lead developer of Bitcoin Classic (Jonathan Toomim) mentions Marshall Long solicited him to develop the client

Here he says he and his developer buddy have Ahmed Bodiwala commit access.

For those that don't know Marshall, he is the pinnacle of crypto-genius who specializes in everything technology. But you don't need to take his word for it, his work speaks for itself.

He is the Co-founder and CTO of Cryptsy and worked to ensure Cryptsy is the most secure and legit exchange on the planet.

He worked directly with the CEO of Mining Asic Technologies to distribute ~~hardware~~ preorders. Unfortunately Mining Asic Technologies went bankrupt before delivering those preorders but that's beside the point.

Then there's Ziftr which he provided marketing for. You might not think that's a big deal but if you take a look at Ziftr you will notice that it's practically a useless cryptocurrency with the sole purpose of using "creative" marketing to convince people to buy into their IPO.

He also provided guidance/developers to his self proclaimed buddy Josh Garza with the development of Paycoin aka the most technologically advanced cryptocurrency ever created in two weeks. Sure, you might say paycoin was just peercoin with a few lines of code changed which introduced several catastrophic, client breaking bugs, but I'd say he did a great job.

In addition, he provided Garza with his escape to Dubai exit strategy. You can read the plan drafted by Marshalls buddy Leo here. The fact that Garza fled to Dubai and has yet to be caught is just another testament to his skills in global economics.

Overall I'm pretty impressed. Will probably be investing the last of my savings into Bits-coin knowing that this guy will play a major role in development of the client supported by 90% of the bits-coin economy.

Taking it step by step:

As reported by badbear, mailmansDOGE is an alt of puzzel.me Both accounts have negative trust but you could have them in the list anyway.
Is there a thread regarding the connection or any sort of proof I could link to?

Stellar69 account was used to steal mailmansDOGE, puzzel.me bumped the thread he crated trying to sell the account as soon as he got it.
