I never messed with YACoin, but I am going to put it through a debugger and dissembler when I get back from eating breakfast. Good day.

This is a lie. No reputable tester has reported any issues with the *original* YAC windows client.
admins - please delete this thread it is spreading false information with no proof
Since no one is willing to do it, I will. Shit. Let me open up debugger.

I disagree with a few of the points. 0. Newbies, NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH OTHER NEWBIES, EVER. There are plenty of veteran members to do business with and ALWAYS use escrow. If you're a newbie and you're doing business with another newbie, there's a 100% chance that you will get scammed (or you're a scammer yourself). I can not stress this enough.. just work with people who have been here at least a year.
100%? NEVER? I trade with newbies all the time. This is a ridiculous stereotype of members here. This is just retarded. 1. New account (usually created within the last 3 months, plus or minus)
No, this correlated with my response to 0. 3. Use of a seemingly realistic first/last name as their forum account name
Look at my name. My username is my First name. Have I ever scammed anyone? No. I use a combination of my First and Last name on some forums. Ridiculous. 4. Signs posts with full name
--Simran Singh 8. Any user blatantly claiming to be female
Oh, yeah, cause females don't exist on the internet. Sexist? Probably not, but this is not true. Please read carefully what he said. Newbies, NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH OTHER NEWBIES, EVER Seriously, this is the truth. I'm sick and tired of seeing yet another 'zomg Imma got hacked my pants off' thread/PM. When I was a newbie, I traded with newbies. You just gotta analyze the situation in more depth, because this point is too broad.

Oh, yeah, cause females don't exist on the internet. Sexist? Probably not, but this is not true. ^^ Listen to this guy. He got 1000 LTC stolen right from his own BTC-E account, so he's definitely the picture of perception and awareness. And want to know the awesome part? I got 2000 LTC back from the same dude that hacked me. I ain't complaining.

re reading the OP, I see two distinct sections. The people should vote which coins are legitimate, which is almost a good idea, but there is a ton of abuse there. If a new fantastic coin wanted to come in, something completely different and actually deserved a shot, people could see it as a threat, and vote no out of own self interest, and then it would be inhibited.
I do like the prefix idea, but that is really up for users to establish themselves, just getting into the habit of it. I could create a sticky to raise awareness and try and get people into the habit, to see if that would catch on, doesn't sound like it could do any harm really.
There are to be no sub-subforums within the alt currency subforum, but maybe the tags will help cut down on the clutter that readers have to sift through. Really the only way I see things being fully resolved, is if the new coins take a break from being made every 10 minutes. But that wont happen until its no longer profitable to do so, so either everyone has to be on board with letting the coins that aren't worth while die, or just roll with the blows.
If any, the prefixes should be implemented and there should be a filter for them. Should make things a lot easier for the active users of that particular coin.

There are some factors that make it healthy and unhealthy. It's healthy because it sparks ideas and allows others to share them(Even though most of the new one's have the minimal idea put into them). the unhealthy part is that it affects adoption by merchants. Merchants are one of the essential aspects that make a coin successful. There are too many options, and causes confusion to the merchants being able to choose a coin they'd like to accept. With that, it isn't about the preference of the merchant simply because the merchant might like a coin that has no traction and isn't going to get more sales, that's why they choose a coin with more stability. Another risk the merchant takes is the price falling, with all the coins, nearly all the prices for every coin have been high volatile. This strays merchants away from accepting cryptos.

Well, I've responded to three separate threads asking for Subforums today alone. The answer is no, if you would like to know why, please refer to one of the other 30 threads, heres a link to one of them. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=199691.0None of them had an actual valid proposal to fix the situation accordingly. If anyone can think of a solution, I'm sure everyone would be glad to hear.
Okay, please read the OP.

Hey! I'm NOT normal! My MOMMY told me that I'm VERY SPECIAL!
Different hierarchy with your mother than this place.

Mod Saltyspitoon told me he got the NO GO
No to the Child boards, but he supports the idea ! (<3 great mod you are!)
and to tell the truth , this is a "Bitcoin Forum" so that kind of makes sense
but all the innovation is happening in the "Alternate cryptocurrencies" section
sooo....
Should "Cyptocurrency" be it's own forum ?
and we move the existing ideas from here to there?
if the Bitcoin overloads will not let child boards exist (and that's a fair and understandable right) (on a Bitcoin forum)
then it's right and correct to have a Cyptocurrency Forum -
I notice Taco made a new forum for his soon to be failed becasue of terrible marketing Coin, perhaps when that fails he will let us move Cyrptocurrency to that forum?
or better still , perhaps we can just ask to have a Cyrptocurrnecy section on his forum , it will bring great amounts of traffic to his forum, (albeit some of it Chinese spam lol )
: D
+1 if you love it.
Not to be rude, but Smiley(SaltySpitoon) isn't the one that controls forum section creation. not to be so rude but how the fuck can you or anyone else stop anyone from making a forum? : D You misinterpreted my post.

I don't hate the new alts, but I do feel that this place, the birth of them, needs to be organized. It all depends on the preference of the user like another user referenced cigarette brands. Not all companies can stay alive forever. Since most of these new coins offer little difference to their parent coins(All the new litecoin based) and are valued less, they will fade away and be a mere memory of the time they were alive.

I hope an admin takes notice of this and realizes this would most likely make this section look better and less work for moderators(Smiley) because of such ease.

Jr. Member's pls, we know you're normal people. Disregard this thread. It's a terrible suggestion.

I was actually going to make a post in meta later today about asking for a currency exchange sub forum her in the altcoin section.
That would be great!
|
|
|
We need to simply wipe out the "alternate cryptocurrencies" subforums from bitcointalk.org
You create your own alternate cryptocurrency? Fine, create your own forums for it.
We're already here, so we must make the best out of it.
|
|
|
OR they could make New Coin, Alt Coin Pools, and Coin Trade subforums, and everything else could sit in the main.
I liked this idea awhile back, but then I realized this is Bitcointalk, not Altcointalk, so we must lessen the extent as to what we want to do in the forum.

I have been around for over a year and still a JR member, I just don't post very often. I have successful trades under my belt as well.
Not all Jr members may fall into the stereotype you are talking about. I agree with you though that things have went downhill on the forums but the solution could be a combination of items and not just one. Maybe something that factors in age of account, number of posts, and successful trades would work. It is getting to the point where something must be done. Due to the large number of Jr Member scammers people are really on the defense with all JR members.
I agree with this. Jr. Members are real people, not some fake people in some online hierarchy that determines what kind of person they are.

So you mean, allowing no one to post in the alt currencies section besides the official coin release which redirects them to the coin specific forum? That is and idea, not many would like it I don't think, but it definitely is an idea, if not a last resort type. +1 needs child boards in alts for recognised alts
Who decides what the recognized alts are? And what is the definition of a recognized alt? Smiley, please read my thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=200201I think the majority of the users should poll what alt should be allowed in this main subforum.
