301  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain - LAUNCHED! on: August 21, 2014, 12:33:47 AM
I'm getting my threads mixed up a bit guys.. forgive me..

Anyway, I'm having trouble with the new build. It crashes every little while with no error message or anything. Trying to run a good pool for you guys XD
302  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CARBONCOIN: The Completely Carbon Neutral Cryptocurrency on: August 21, 2014, 12:11:32 AM
Right now, it's the equivalent of only being able to make transactions up to 0.21BTC.

I dont understand why a limit of 20 million is a problem!!? Sure if it was 1 or 2 million youd have a very valid point but as it is ok you may have to click 2or 3 times instead of once, not really much of an issue!!

I have another coin that is having issues with large payments, if I ever get around to fixing it, Carboncoin would probably accept the same fix.
303  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CARBONCOIN: The Completely Carbon Neutral Cryptocurrency on: August 21, 2014, 12:03:22 AM
Please bear with me guys, having issues with the pool. Anything sitting in unconfirmed counts against our balance, as the getbalance method in the Carboncoin and MPOS isn't playing nice with each other. Also, I'm pretty sure that last time we had issues when I fired the payout cron back up we did a good double payout run. Good for you, baaad for me! lol

Anyways, I will fix it, nobody panic! Cheesy

Oldminer, if you'd pass the word along I'd appreciate it Smiley
304  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to build your own Multipool - the Open Source Way on: August 20, 2014, 10:36:40 PM
I'm working on something similar using LiveCode, possibly I can fill in the blanks once I get my head round it all.
305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain - LAUNCHED! on: August 20, 2014, 08:51:47 PM
Syscoin has been added to the multipool at http://multipool.fedaykin.us!

The pool is under heavy development both cosmetically and under the hood as well, when all is said and done we'll be sporting a new look as well as our very own OPEN SOURCE autoexchange system. Right now you can either mine on the coin switching port(s), or choose any single coin to mine. For each individual coin, the LOWEST port number in the port list will be vardiff, the rest of them are fixed-difficulty ports for miners who have issues with vardiff. Visit http://multipool.fedaykin.us:100/mining_key to generate a universal mining key (an address and WIF private key for all coins can be derived from it). Keep the private key secret, save it and do not lose it. Use the public key as your username when mining, or if mining single coins you can use your wallet address as your username. The system will accept any password for now. In the future all ports will be consolidated and you pick what you want to mine with your password (e.g. dogecoin, litecoin, scryptswitch, x11switch, etc.). When our autoexchange engine is finally implemented, we want to be able to offer up many different payout options, so keep your eyes open!

wow,so many ipos, what's wrong with this world Cheesy

I'm with you. What the hell is going on?

Scouting for coins to add to multipool, turning into an adventure.
307  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [RE-ANN] Emerald [EMD] New Wallet/Source - Mandatory Update - Fork @ Blk 1600000 on: August 18, 2014, 11:33:51 PM
Had some issues getting it compiled but nothing major. When I fired it up on a fresh wallet it didn't hog the CPU like before, so that's a good sign. Currently, it's importing the privkey for the MPOS pool's wallet, don't know how long that'll take but as soon as it's done we'll be ready to roll again. The multipool is underway as well.

When compiling the obj directory in emerald/src/ is missing, might want to add something to the makefile or just add the folder to the repo. Doing a clean doesn't delete the folder so it'd probably be ok just to add it to the repo.

I had some boost issues because some of my wallets don't like newer versions so I had to mess around a bit, but everything seems happy now. As a side note, if anyone here is interested in running their own pools I'm going to be doing a complete video series on it, from server configuration, compiling wallets and deps, pool and stratum configuration, management, everything! I intend it to be the most comprehensive tutorial out there, so hopefully it'll enlighten people! Also working on a custom autoexchange add-on engine for NOMP, which will be open source. Keep your eyes open!

EDIT: http://multipool.fedaykin.us is ready to roll, taking a bit to sync http://emerald.fedaykin.us but should only be another 10 minutes or so.
If you wish to mine on the multipool, go to http://multipool.fedaykin.us:100/mining_key and generate a pubkey or emerald address to mine to, or use your existing emerald address. Coin switching ports aren't enabled just yet, port 3001 is vardiff and the higher ones are fixed-diff (lowest port number for each coin will always be vardiff).

EDIT 2: Everything should be good now, may need a few minor tweaks. I did have an issue when trying to import the MPOS pool's private key from my wallet server to the pool server. It went to 99% CPU for a while but when finished it hadn't actually imported anything. Giving it a ctrl-c gave me this error: what():  boost: mutex lock failed in pthread_mutex_lock: Invalid argument
The wallet file was from the old version, though, and both issues could have been related to that, since I hadn't ran the upgradewallet command yet. If the issue persists with anyone else please let us know.

Interesting, we all have a lot stories.

That's the idea. We all have many stories to tell... Why not share them with the world?

It would be a good primer for anyone thinking about getting into cryptocurrencies. The whole picture: Good, Bad and Freaky!  Grin

================

The New v. 0.8.2.1 Source has been committed to Github. Pool Ops, Exchanges, Services need to download and update, ASAP! Check the OP for the link! If you haven't downloaded the new Win wallet yet; the link to it is also in the OP.

================

I Mine for You Contest

Who wants (needs) someone to mine for them? I can't offer much... but I will point my little Gridseed farm (~3Mh/s) at one of the MPOS pools for you.

How do you win?

1. If you do not have an account already, sign up at one of the MPOS pools in the OP (Fedaykin, Coin-Base, or Mining for All). Create a worker (username.1) and add a simple worker password (x).

2. Follow @Emerald_Crypto on Twitter with an established account (min 25 real followers).

3. Tweet - @Emerald_Crypto mines for me! "BCT User Name" $EMD #FreeEMDcrypto -- Put your Bitcointalk user name where "BCT User Name" is.

4. You must have either posted in this thread, or in the original EMD thread before the switchover. (yes, we will check)

I will pick a random winner starting tomorrow. That person will receive a DM from the @Emerald_Crypto account on Twitter. They will then have 6 hours to send a PM to us (Emerald_Crypto) on Bitcointalk with their choice of pool, workername and worker pass. It is sometimes a good idea to pick a secondary pool in case the first one has problems, so sign up for one of the others and create a worker there, too; if you wish, and send that info as well. I will then point my Gridseed farm at your account for 24 hours, so you can earn some free EMD!

I'll keep picking random daily winners as long as there are people interested. If there is enough demand... after I get my new miner online; I will take the other little farm I currently use and award another prize each day. The second miner for the giveaway makes ~4Mh/s.

More, later!  Wink

Getting the update right now and updating the pools. There will be a bit of downtime as I make the transition. It couldn't come at a better time because I am having issues with the old wallet, with the CPU issue I've had to host it off-site and that's just not an ideal situation with an MPOS pool. Will update thread when we're ready to roll.
309  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [RE-ANN] Emerald [EMD] Development - Community Takeover on: August 12, 2014, 10:07:36 AM
http://emerald.fedaykin.us isn't behaving right now. I'll get back on it as soon as I get up. Meanwhile the multipool is running fine. Check my above post for instructions to mine!

Ready to rock! I'll be keeping an eye on it though, to get it running I had to set it up a bit strangely but I think the blocknotify setup I have ought to keep it from acting up. Just the Emerald wallet by itself was using all the physical RAM and most of the CPU at all times on the pool server.. Ended up running a second instance of it on my wallet server. Looks like I found several blocks overnight myself on the multipool, so I know things are working! About to mine the MPOS pool!

Happy mining!

EDIT: Finding blocks on http://emerald.fedaykin.us. All seems well!
310  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [RE-ANN] Emerald [EMD] Development - Community Takeover on: August 12, 2014, 08:40:59 AM
For now, we are making the blockchain more secure by changing the difficulty adjustment from every 180 blocks, to every block with DGW3. It is something that we can implement quickly without any disruption.

The question of adding in PoS is still open. If it is added; it will not take the place of PoW, but be a minimal amount (~1%) to add an extra layer of security to the chain.

There are loads of coins switching to PoS and/or other algos. This seems to be the popular trend. There are also many scrypt miners who are looking for a stable crypto to mine. This is what EMD will offer with the new diff adjustment.

The long term goals for the coin is to create real uses for it; regardless of the algo or minting setup. There are two things that make a cryptocurrency valuable: Innovation and services. If you do not have one; you better be finding the other.

EMD is 14 months old. There has been zero development of the currency in that time. Yet, it still has a decent amount of trade volume at Cryptsy. Can you imagine what it could have been if the original dev had developed a few uses for it?

Anyhow; all suggestions are welcomed. PM if you think you can help out with coding, promotion or just random ideas. The more people that we have involved, the better the end result will be.

----------------

Regarding Edric - He is one of the best pool ops around. His operation is small (for now), but he stays on top of things and gets back to you if you have a question or problem. He doesn't go AWOL when there are problems. He's right there on the front lines sorting things out... Even when they are someone else's problem. It will be good to have him around here.

----------------

I compiled the new wallet and it is working great. Now to put it on testnet and see how the fork behaves... New source and Win wallet should be ready for download on Tuesday if there are no problems.

More coming real soon...

Thanks for the kind words, man! I definitely try and do my best to provide the best service I can! It's not easy sometimes but definitely rewarding to hear people saying good things. I'm working on a lot of development projects here on my end, lots of open source stuff that may end up making a lot of pool admins' lives easier as well as hacking together my own autoexchange system and platform for my multipool. Tiring stuff but hopefully when it's done I'll have accomplished some stuff I can be proud of! I really like the relaunch trend that's been going on lately and am very happy to be a part of this. I haven't picked up any actual new coins lately, for one because I'm just busy and can't keep up with the forums, and second because there's so many good but abandoned projects to revive. So yeah, count me in! Anything I can do to help out is no problem, there's not much I can't do now, I have learned so much stuff this year!

By the way, most of the projects I'm working on isn't for profit so I am looking for some extra work as well, I can get nearly anything coin-related done, pretty quickly too. Pools, wallets, gaming, about anything, even Mac GUI wallets (spent a few months figuring that one out). I work pretty cheap, too!

The MPOS-based Emerald Crypto pool is online, syncing the blockchain right now. The wallet syncing is making the site very unresponsive, though. It'll be ready to roll soon, though.

Any MPOS pools I run these days are running with NOMP as the stratum backend. Such customizability and pure awesomeness. The old Python stratum only let you set one port PER instance, while I can set as many as we need using NOMP. This is awesome because not every miner works properly with vardiff, some not at all! Heard complaints that certain rental ASICs require fixed diffs. All my pools, including the multipool, offer vardiff and several fixed-diff options (custom ones per any requests as well!).

The Multipool is also online and mining (I say multipool but Emerald is the only coin online at the moment, lol), please take note there may be intermittent downtime as I make modifications, but I'll make sure payouts are getting processed. If you don't have an Emerald address to mine with, you'll need to go to http://multipool.fedaykin.us:100/key.html and generate a mining key. DO NOT LOSE OR GIVE OUT THE PRIVATE KEY! You can use your Emerald address or your PUBLIC key to mine with (your pubkey and privkey can be used to derive an address for any coin and be able to access the funds). At this time, vardiff is running on port 3001 (look at the coin's getting started page, lowest port number will always be vardiff). At some point we'll have Unified Ports, one set of variable and fixed diff ports that work across all coins (for non-autoswitching mining), you'll just mine with your pubkey, and use the name of the coin you'd like to mine as your password (username: pubkey pass: emerald). Eventually we'll have a nicer web interface as well as our own desktop app that will automatically display your statistics and give you one-click control over your miners (not NOMP-app, working on my own). The goal of the multipool is to make mining as easy and painless as possible, even for beginners, as well as to eventually offer some unique payout options, and as always, awesome support! Will be under heavy development for a while, but all the tinkering and hacking will be done on another server so there won't be excessive service interruptions.

Eventually I'll get around to actually making my "index" site at http://fedaykin.us, where people can see an actual list of all the stuff I'm hosting and all the crazy projects I'm messing with. I spend as much time as I can outside of running the pools and actual dev stuff just hacking around with things, breaking stuff, making stuff, or staring at my screen.

Edit: Yeah, http://emerald.fedaykin.us isn't responding at all while the wallet is syncing.. Never seen a wallet use that much CPU syncing the blockchain! Took forever for the multipool's wallet to sync up as well, the NOMP site stayed up though..
311  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [RE-ANN] Emerald [EMD] Development - Community Takeover on: August 12, 2014, 04:28:27 AM
GWCalvert messaged me and asked me if I would like to be part of this, as he's familiar with the pool services I run, and I'm very grateful that he thought of me! Those of you who know me know that I do my utmost to do right by my miners and support the community in every way possible. I've been kinda absent here on the board for the last couple of months, though, as I've jumped headlong into many development projects (and schooling myself, pretty much), but I'm only a PM or email away and always up for whatever! I've been planning a multipool for a very long time so Emerald will be part of my multipool at http://multipool.fedaykin.us, but also since one of my other pool's coin went PoS, I will also offer an MPOS pool with multiport NOMP-stratum (vardiff and many fixed-diff options) for those who prefer "legacy" pools! It will be located at http://emerald.fedaykin.us when it is ready for action, later on tonight.

The multipool, as of right now, is still a vanilla NOMP site, with custom features and appearance being worked on. The plan for the finished product is an auto-switch auto-exchange multipool, able to pay out in select coins (looking to offer payout options that other pools do not), mine the most profitable coin at any time, or mine on whatever coin you wish any time you want. I'm working on a lot of my own backend tools for this as well as a pool-exclusive exchange (internal system use only, most likely), though it remains to be seen if the pool will stay with NOMP or a different system, as I've been tinkering around quite a bit to find what I'm gonna like best! Anyway, it's not much to look at right now but cosmetic enhancements, new coins, and switching will be in soon.

Both pools will be running a promotional fee of 0.5% for a while, in celebration of the renewed efforts and interest! As always, please don't hesitate to email or PM me. Let me know if you need help with the Mac version, too! I can crank one out for you, np Smiley

MPOS/NOMP hybrid backend. Stable & Efficient!

Users from some of my other pools asked for a Reddcoin pool, and I don't disappoint! The union between MPOS and NOMP makes for a much more stable and efficient pool overall, with many difficulty settings for different types of miners to cut down on stale shares. As with any of my other pools, I rely on feedback from the users, so if anyone has any issues or suggestions, please use the contact form or send me a PM here. Just barely got this one set up and running so over the next few days I'll do a bit more fine tuning, but so far, so good! If you've been disappointed in the quality of customer service from other pool services, look no further. Your hashrates/shares and ultimate satisfaction are my #1 priority, so if you have any questions or issues, do not hesitate to contact me! My days and nights are kinda switched around at the moment but I always respond as promptly as possible.

313  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [RE-LAUNCH] BirdCoin | Scrypt | Bitcoind | 3 Exchanges! | Fast transactions on: July 23, 2014, 06:11:33 AM
we're waiting Edric upgrade of the code, and then restart with marketing

Hey guys, I came to give ya'll an update.. I'm so sorry for taking so long, in the middle of everything some (very tricky) personal stuff has come up so I'm dealing with that as well. If you knew every detail, you wouldn't know if it was a good thing or a bad thing, but all that aside, its more of a matter of me being way too loyal for my own good and possibly too liberal with handing out second chances.. Anyway, enough of that, no matter the outcome I'll invariably be doing my usual thing, I'm just really kicking myself for taking so long because Bird really needs this update and some publicity. I didn't even notice until today that it got delisted from c-cex, what a bummer. There's way worse coins on there that haven't gotten the axe yet, I guess I kinda feel partly responsible because if I had known I probably would have begged for a reprieve or something XD

I glanced over a previous post talking about a block explorer... Ubuntu or Debian is probably the best choice to run it on, and as for the software, I cannot say right off the top of my head which one has the best features and is easiest to setup/maintain, but in my Github trawlings I probably have forked every one in existence, so I'll have a look at some point and try to get you pointed in the right direction. I will do the setup/maint for you if you can throw a few bucks my way, I really hate saying stuff like that, as I really enjoy helping everyone I can, but if I remember correctly, it costs money to properly maintain and entertain a wife (especially one that requires lots of medication to keep from breaking the house), and I think I have one again :b

Tomorrow morning/evening I'm going once more into the fray, not absolutely sure what I have so far is on the right track, even close, idk.. Have a couple other devs I'm going to be talking to as well as comparing the code of a few other coins. Apparently enough, Birdcoin isn't the only one with this same problem (block size issues), I just need to investigate a little deeper and make sure I get it right. I will admit that even though I am a programmer, I haven't bothered with much C++ until this year so I'm having to familiarize myself with it as I go along, which does slow things down, but makes it fun for me. Good news though, we'll have a proper release when finished, as I can build cli and GUI wallets on all PC platforms including OS X, I won't even elaborate on how long I've been trying to get that working properly in a VM.

Again, my deepest apologies for being so slow, it's a one man show on my end, plus every time I wake up there's some sort of frustrating problem needing immediate attention (Murphy's Law, my favorite), but hey, its not like I had anything important to do, right? lol. You guys are awesome though, I appreciate your patience and your support, coins live and die by their users and developers, and while we're a small bunch, dedication goes a long way, so keep it up Smiley

PS Kinda a rock and a hard place right now, as I'd love to get into another exchange, but the technical issues could possibly put them off or frustrate users or exchange sysops. Next time I report back, it won't be with excuses, it'll be with binaries XD
314  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CoiniumServ - high performance pooled mining server software getwork/stratum on: July 18, 2014, 09:19:00 AM
Oh wow, that video reminds me of when I was folding for a bit a while back. Nice!

I haven't had any free time lately to test it out, I had started to a couple of weeks back and was having some issues and haven't had time since. Running several pools and keeping up the backends, maintaining a few small projects as well as helping with a friend's setup, tiring..

I'm pulling the repo now and will give it a look before turning in tonight. Very excited about it, as the goals of this project fit with my overall aims, and I'm hoping that its modular nature will allow for me to use some of my own customized backend tools.

I'm liking the development schedule you have laid out so far, seems very well thought out. Is there any concrete planning done yet on exactly how the system will be modular? What I mean is, for instance, if a part of the autoexchange engine doesn't quite fit what I need, but I have my own program that can pass commands and arguments through it via cli or even http, is that possible? Its understandable if you're not quite ready to elaborate on that for whatever reason but would love any explanation you're able to provide. At the moment I'm mostly running a solo venture as far as my pool stuff goes and CoiniumServ has definitely been looking attractive since the finished product is meant to be fully featured and flexible, allowing me to offer excellent services without having a huge staff, or budget. The ability to plug in some of my own tools (without having to resort to reverse engineering or hacking anything) would make it even more attractive, though I could be assuming too much, too early. Still, watching eagerly. Just wish I had more time to test!

If you wish, feel free to PM me. Smiley

Edit: Had another go at building it but not having any luck yet. I've barely even gotten my feet wet with C# or Mono so it is possible I'm just missing something or not set up quite right yet. I did get those repos added and installed mono-complete and mono-opt along with its extra dependencies.
With a bit of googling I'm thinking it is something on my end that I just need to wrap my head around a bit more. Once again, though, I've worked the night away and the kids will be up in a couple of hours, so I'll try again tomorrow. Following is a snippet of one of the errors I was getting when running the build script.

Utils/Logging.cs(97,43): error CS0012: The type `System.Object' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. Consider adding a reference to assembly `System.Runtime, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a'

Yeah, I've been working on it, very sorry about that. It seems that the most recent update to MPOS had a bug, and I must have pulled it in between the update and the bugfix for the update. Didn't notice till I went to withdraw my stuff.

Everything seems to be working now. I'll see if there's anything I can do about the timeout. I have the csrf protection off for the moment, and you won't timeout if you're on the dashboard screen, but anywhere else you will.

Everyone please check and make sure your payout address is still set properly and correct.

Lowered TXfee at pool http://carbon.fedaykin.us!
Added a small block bonus as well.

I normally don't invest much because it takes most of what I earn to keep things rolling, but I'm gonna be hanging on to what Carbon I do mine to see what the future holds. Very interesting stuff Cheesy

Done a bit of tweaking to the server, things seem to be dialed in about perfectly now. Please let me know if you're having any issues, and I'll take care of it.

Sometime in the next few days I'll probably add a Carbon version of my favorite invest-able hi/lo roll game! Keep your eyes peeled!

I need you guys to let all these faucet services and exchanges know about the update coming, and I still haven't heard from anyone on what we're gonna do about the block rate.

I may need some brave volunteers to do some testing when I get my beta version running. I am not only modifying the most recent version of Doge's codebase but I am going to work on the old Birdcoin codebase as well and whichever one is easiest to finish is going to be the one released. If I end up just repairing the old Bird code, there's likely going to be so much changed that it'll still require hardfork anyway.

for exchanger and service i can contact them when the code will be ok!

Thanks Smiley

I should be able to start doing testnet tests tonight or tomorrow to see if my changes break anything. Problem is that the real issues have been coming up since after block 100k~ so that's difficult to test for without making real transactions. Unfortunately I don't have 30-40m to test with.
320  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [RE-LAUNCH] BirdCoin | Scrypt | Bitcoind | 3 Exchanges! | Fast transactions on: July 10, 2014, 10:57:48 PM
I think I've decided what to do. I'm fairly sure I've found the reason its not allowing large transactions, incrementally making the possible max transaction smaller. After looking over the existing code much closer it really isn't that bad and should be a snap to fix up the existing codebase.

I can really only think of one reason to completely redo Bird, for the built in CPU miner, but it isn't a necessity and to port Bird to a completely new codebase is kinda pointless at the moment. It is definitely something that is going to happen at some point in the lifecycle but isn't necessary right now, so what is happening right now is I'm making adjustments to maximum block sizes and some other hardcoded settings, adding some checkpoints, and also updating it to DGW. There will be no changes to rewards or overall block gen rate. I'm going to do preliminary testing on testnet but will eventually need to try with real coins to see if we've overcome the blocksize problem. The MAX_MONEY setting is supposedly limiting the maximun transaction size which is 7 billion coins but I think we're hitting the hardcoded size limit (in KB).

This will still be a mandatory update for everyone, without a doubt. Sources will be available on my Github soon.
