Joseph David: "Firstly I would like to assure everyone that there is no mal-intent in this decision.  I will be posting additional details about this decision and answers to many questions on the Havelock site early next week and before trading resumes.  Please feel free to e-mail me your questions directly to joseph@cavirtex.com. I will not respond individually, instead I will group questions together and post the questions and answers on the Havelock page for VTX.  I will also have further details and clarification about dividends.  In the Bitcoin landscape please try to understand that things change and I am doing my best to adapt to the change. Once my update is posted all Havelock shareholders will receive the e-mail."

Thank you for investing with Havelock Investments!

The decision to delist VTX from havelockinvestments.com was made after considering the company's current position and our future business objectives.

Beautifully vague.

Does this mean there will no longer be a way to transfer shares in the company? is the share value being decoupled from bitcoin price? Its all seems like a bit of funky accounting to me. Then again it could be becasue some large investors want in and are uncomfortable buying shares in XBT on an exchange that is operating in a legal grey area?   Huh

Somebody in the know please make some clarification.
303  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Havelock Investments - Exchange feedback/comments on: December 11, 2013, 09:55:32 PM
In an ideal world Havelock would have no controlling part in this process and it be used as part of a multisig system as mentioned above to ensure your customers and not Havelock are in absolute control of their own finances.
I fail to see how that could work. If they don't have full control of the coins, you shouldn't be able to buy securities with them, or they couldn't pay the other guy.

In any case, that 2FA message is ridiculous. No, I won't enable it, stop nagging me please.

I see your point, but I was really referring to account balances, obviously once you set up a buy or sell order the escrow system comes in place, but then that is 'with permission'
304  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Havelock Investments - Exchange feedback/comments on: December 11, 2013, 07:45:42 PM

Whilst i'm a big fan of extra security, I really don't think your current system holds up to the brave new world of Bitcoin users.

Speculative maybe? but the average Bitcoin user is now recently wealthy, travelling male working mobile from various locations on a global scale. Just look at all the similar faces at each Bitcoin conference or meetup.

So restricting login to a single of even multiple country IP addresses is a waste of time at best and a frustration at worst.
Secondly what's the biggest pain in the arse with Google 2FA ..... loosing your phone. (hint travelling businessmen do this regularly)

Why not instead, or as a third option set up each account with the option of fixing it to a public address and set up an AUTOMATED withdrawal system whereby any stock transfer or withdrawal over a specified level requires the account owner to sign their public address and paste the sig to confirm the transaction.

In an ideal world Havelock would have no controlling part in this process and it be used as part of a multisig system as mentioned above to ensure your customers and not Havelock are in absolute control of their own finances.

306  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] Graet.Loan - Paying 0.05% interest daily on: December 07, 2013, 09:37:49 PM

Next time he pays dividends, it will probably cover at least a week or maybe even a month. Paying every day isn't for best, because the translation fees will take a lot from the dividends. I'm quite alright with weekly or monthly dividends.

Weekly makes a lot of sense now the tx fee is so high, i'd be reluctant to switch to monthly unless there was an official method to trade shares and a new published business plan.
307  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] Graet.Loan - Paying 0.05% interest daily on: December 07, 2013, 08:26:13 PM
So seems like the dividends are no longer being sent to Bitfunder... and they don't seem to be being forwarded to Weexchange.

Graet: We could all use an update here. Doesn't have to be much but a provisional plan would be nice.

Thanks

edit: just noticed the last dividend sent to bitfunder (30th nov) was for 7 days at once..   no idea what that 'means' though. Huh

You're free to use any email address of your choosing, as long as it's linked to a Google account (currently the only OpenID provider icedrill.io supports). It does not need to be a gmail email address, or even the one you used @ bitfunder.

think this is where the confusion originated

so maybe i am a idiot  but can we go over how the verifacation works?

step 1: put in the adress that bitfunder has on your account

step 2 copy and paste that adress again after the little message

step 3 copy and paste the whole message with the adress into teh last box

is that correct and if so why does mine say "verifacation failed: incorrect padding"?

step 1: check  Smiley

step 2: you need to sign the message shown with your adresse from step 1. with blockchain.info for example you have an option "sign" message on the screen that shows all the adresses that are under your account. --> https://blockchain.info/Resources/faq/signmessage.png

step 3: after the process of signing the message you get a signature. this hast to go in the last field.

now you should get a confirmation with the amount of shares linked to your address.

Thanks for clearing it up.  Cool

How about providing the payout address for Cognitive in order to prove your claims?

I second this - we need to see Cognitive's payout address.
I second this too.

... he's said that everyone will not get back all of their BTC.

Is there a quote you can provide to back this up?  Because I've been following all the many Bitfunder threads, and I don't remember him saying anything like this.  (In other words: quote or it's FUD)

Anyone been able to login to Weexchange today... or Bitfunder for that matter?

both sites show up but any attempt to login just seems to refresh the login page...  Huh

313  Other / MultiBit / Re: "Sign Message" and "Verify Message" working on: November 30, 2013, 10:49:04 PM

Hi Jim

Any idea why I can't copy or paste into any of the sign or verify address/message/signature fields? its been causing me headaches for a while now.

Is there a way to turn on this ability as it seems deliberately restricted?

Thanks

Lunar

With key combination Ctrl+v you can paste address with Ctrl+c you can copy signature and message - first you have to mark them with mouse.

have you tried turning it on and off again?  Wink

no seriously... running the 0.5.15 version on OSX  copy and paste in these fields is not currently possibly. Maybe its a bug?

edit: fixed now, think it was an issue with the mavericks update.

I don't wish to use the e-mail that bitfunder has on account. Will the process still work if I register with a different address in step 1 ?

@Jochen,
Gary has written up a how-to on upgrading, which is here:
https://multibit.org/en/help/v0.5/help_upgrading.html

@lunarboy
Yes - that would be nice !
At the moment it is bitcoind which is the 'gatekeeper' for the transaction fees (it will become more flexible in the future).
The MultiBit fees are as low as you can go currently so I cannot reduce it safely at the moment.

I think the recent run up of the price of bitcoin has surprised everyone but I am sure it will get sorted.

Thanks for the quick response keep up the fantastic work.

As your online I'll pop in another feature request. would really love to see copy/paste functionality added to the sign message tab (manually typing out addresses and sigs is an accident waiting to happen) I'm too careless :-(

This thread is surprisingly quiet considering the hard fork that's imminent.   Shocked

Perhaps we should get a mod to move it to a more prominent location?

on a side note : thanks for the outstanding work to all you guys who've helped with this.

I live in Michigan and was thinking of taking a drive up to Lansing this weekend to check out the listed addresses. I'd like to settle the 200 outstanding shares I own.......or plug a miner or two in at my house
