3001  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Receiving money from Brazilian Friend to Canada? on: August 21, 2015, 06:00:12 PM
I think BTC should be the best way.
That is right but the op saying that the only Brazilian exchange who offers BTC is extremely fee hungry and buying btc from them is a waste.
That is why his brazilian friend have no access to btc and can't send him raw btc. That is the problem here.
3002  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Suicide on: August 20, 2015, 11:58:36 PM
Suicide is a form of sickness of a mind. It should not be allowed. I am really against limiting the laws of humans to decide about their own fate and body.
But I gotta agree that suicide is not normal and usually is just effect of some trauma, stress, physical sickness and in many causes these problems can be eliminated.
3003  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin on: August 20, 2015, 11:42:06 PM
Can anyone help me out with promo codes for free bitcoins?
I never heard of any promotional codes to get bitcoin. The only way is to receive 'free bitcoins' is to grab some really small amount via faucets.
But it is time consuming and not worth the amount you will get. Other than that I doubt there is anything like promo bitcoin codes...
3004  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The schism that divides us all on: August 20, 2015, 11:18:58 PM
Yes, that read was indeed brilliant. I never thought about this situation in that light. After all Satoshi is THE RICHEST bitcoin user of us all and he has a lot to lose here.
I used to think that Satoshi is being stubborn and his word could end this dispute between core and XT and end it all fast without further problems.
But now I understand that if devs, miners and users without him are not capable to overcome first 'crisis' then bitcoin is not really worth saving.
3005  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is ISIS Proof that Islam has Failed at Peace? on: August 18, 2015, 10:59:44 PM
Quote
2.  If "official" Islam preaches peace, why is a rogue sect of Islam with a violent ideology proving so successful in spreading such a blatantly anti-Islamic message to people who self-identify as Muslim?
I am amused of numbers of muslim people in this 'rogue sect' you mentioned this is not sect anymore it is nation. It seems that for me that muslims are either part of this or are silently supporting ISIS.
There is no way that terrorist organisation of this caliber without help from people would be that huge and dangerous. Muslims want ISIS to success and then it will be one sharia law for everyone.
3006  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: They have their coins and are happy on: August 18, 2015, 07:17:13 PM
Op so you are insinuating that people with extreme wealth and early adopters with a lot stashed coins don't want any changes because they will lose their coins if XT will take over?
Correct me if I am wrong, but how this will happen? Bitcoin won't split into two coins but instead evolve into one big XT version and everything will be the same, beside block size etc.
3007  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to calculate a valuble invest cost? on: August 18, 2015, 06:01:32 PM
Hi,

How to calculate a valuable invest cost?

Please share your views.
If you are talking about how much you have to invest to reach some serious earning there is no clear answer.
However, I can tell you one thing: invest only as much as you are willing to lose. Don't ever bet all your money on one investment.
3008  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Windows 10 and Bitcoin Discussion on: August 17, 2015, 07:29:20 PM
I won't touch windows 10 with a 10'foot pole  Grin

http://localghost.org/posts/a-traffic-analysis-of-windows-10
Omg, This is insane information. I heard about spying, I know that facebook and every other social network is monitored, but to include spying features in windows 10 on such huge scale is unthinkable.
Big brother are watching us all. Now, I will forever stay with some previous M$ OS unless these spying features will be eliminated.
3009  Other / Off-topic / Re: Theymos made a statement on: August 17, 2015, 07:18:55 PM
I think democracy is the thing of the past. Now we have dictatorship on r/bitcoin. Theymos said "If majority of the people disagree they can go".
This is hard statement. Bitcoin supposed to led by majority of users and now we are starting to have regime of the strong leaders.
3010  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Core developers: we want bigger blocks on: August 17, 2015, 04:55:49 AM
I don't want bigger blocks. The consensus does not want bigger blocks.

As block rewards drop to zero transaction fees will be the only thing left to pay miners to secure and run the network. Increasing block size jeopardizes this important mechanism.

That's 100 years away. If bitcoin is still a thing in 100 years, transaction fees for a block would probably worth more than a block reward today.

That was my understanding and I assumed everyone's understanding.
In theory, if everything goes according to original concept,
when fees need to take over, btc value should easily cover all mining costs.
It is pure speculation, we can't imagine what will be cost of a bitcoin in the future. And in case of prediction future linked to a computers and technology people are very bad.
Only 20 years ago we did not even dream of computers we have today. Same goes with cryptocurrency and its tech.
3011  Other / Meta / Re: Worked our ASSES off to promote Bitcoin 16 hours/ day for 2 years. Today, banned on: August 17, 2015, 03:55:07 AM
Reddit is a cultural Marxist community, what did you expect?  It's the same thing as Twitter and Facebook, corporate/globalist, new world order, yada yada crap.  The second you see groups like Fox and CNN promoting a piece of technology, you know it's going to be compromised, or designed for population control or spying.

Umm, the same guy who is filtering r/bitcoin is the one who owns this place =)  So, I feel in some cases, that comment is kind of hypocritical.
This is truth. Theymos is the admin of bitcointalk and also a main mod on r/bitcoin. Let me guess, you were banned for discussing bitcoin core vs. bitcoin xt maybe?
EDIT: Ah I see you werent. So what got you banned for if I may ask? It is quite important to have whole picture of situation here.
3012  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: SALE | Cigaret Kretek Original from Indonesia on: August 17, 2015, 12:53:06 AM
Op, I like your straight approach, photo was nice addition and boosted your credibility a lot in my eyes. But please can you post approx rates for countries you can send cigarettes to.
I think you can tell how much want for shipping US or Europe in general, right? And what guarantee you will give that shipment won't be snatched by the customs?
3013  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts regarding "satoshis" post today on the mailing list? on: August 16, 2015, 11:18:07 PM
account was hacked and mail was without his PNG key.

Hoax.
Yes. But that does not change the fact that he posted some really interesting thought. What we are witnessing now: split between core and XT can change everything in the future.
Bitcoin from decentralized entity when majority can vote on changes can become toy of the biggest pools and plaything of most notable developers.
3014  Other / Meta / Re: Your IP HAS SOME EVIL POINTS? on: August 16, 2015, 11:11:53 PM
Smells like you are being scammed or whatever. Don't pay shit to anyone if asked.

I assume OP is talking about the fee you have to pay to use Bitcointalk if your IP is blacklisted.
That feature was implemented to combat spammers among other things.

I didn't even know such a thing (feature) existed. Is there a post somewhere detailing this information? Not that I expect to need it, just this post aroused my curiosity on how/why it was implemented.

couldn't find any "official" thread about it. but there's an explanation posted by theymos here.
That basically concludes this thread. In short this is the system invented by mods to ban newbies and people who created many accounts using one IP. It includes fun factor 'evil units'.
Evil Units are nothing more than 'price list' you need to pay forum in case your IP is banned. It is not usually big money but couple of satoshis.
3015  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Comedian Louis C.K Begins Accepting Bitcoin on: August 15, 2015, 10:31:59 AM
It is a shame that some of you are unfamiliar with Louis C.K. I used to watch his every standup show on youtube back in the day.
He is really good comedian, but on top of that his jokes are very didactic imo. Bitcoin acceptance from celebrity of his caliber is really big.
Some of his fans might investigate what bitcoin is because of that.
3016  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: is it profitable to create a faucet ? on: August 15, 2015, 10:19:36 AM
Hello guys

I have a question to those who have created faucets before

Did you get more profet than what you spent ??
And what was the daily average of your profet and spendings ?

Does the ads covered what you have spent ?

Well today I think it's not profitable now. Maybe it can if you started building years ago. There are many new faucets out there that only stays for a week or even a days only. But if you are really serious start with a big investment then make a site that can outshine Freebitco and some popular XAPO faucet out there.
This is basically the truth. But you can still earn from faucet. All you need to do is to create something new, it is useless to create copy of existing faucets with the same rate.
To be successful you need to increase payment a lot, for some time at least, until your faucet will be recognized. If you build your user base you can profit from ads etc.
3017  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to explain Bitcoin to your Granparents [InfoGraphic] on: August 15, 2015, 09:53:59 AM
without bigger blocks transaction costs will rise to 0,20 $, 0,40 $  and 1 $

hopefully we will make the correct choice and support bigger blocks.
I am not techie. But I was under the impression it is precisely the opposite. Bigger blocks = more data to process = bigger files = increase of transaction fees.
I was wrong?
3018  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why There Should Be A Bitcoin Central Bank on: August 14, 2015, 05:04:58 PM
There shouldnt be any central bank. Bitcoin is Decentralized right?

Bitcoin is decentralized? Who told you that lie?

there you go: https://blockchain.info/fr/pools
decentralized.

There you go: https://bitcoinfoundation.org
Leadership and development is not

Grin Grin touché but they represent themselves. They seek a "business plan" as they said. But they wont do anything without the support of them miners.

That's what they say but I'd be happier if they just went away.  Wink
Haha, you know that Bitcoin Foundation is a laughingstock right now? The bitcoin foundation is too scandalous to be considered legit.
Founded in 2011, the Bitcoin Foundation's initial goal was to provide advocacy to the cryptocurrency but since that time they failed many times with their questionable decisions and poor judgement.
So I feel we don't need another failing central force of bitcoin like BF.
3019  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: XTnodes.com added a new chart: The number of mined Bitcoin XT blocks on: August 14, 2015, 04:56:54 PM
Can a moderator move this to the altcoin section please? I dont remember XT-coin having anything to do with Bitcoin last I checked.

Please read BIP101 before you try to comment
It is not that simple anymore. XT nodes are currently not used by any altcoin whatsoever and are part of Bitcoin network.
Bitcoin XT is currently no altcoin - that change however can occur in the future with the upgraded size of the blocks.
But I feel that people are afraid that XT gives too much power to developers (as they can change everything on their own with XT) and that is the main problem.

No they cant because people have to follow them.

But I feel that people are afraid that Bitcoin Core gives too much power to developers - and they are right.
XT probably can change the features of the bitcoin protocol without consensus from majority and just because the devs of XT wish to do so.
Bitcoin core does not allow sudden changes and follow strict rules regarding what blocks will be accepted in the chain and which ones will not be.
3020  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Huge Explosion In Tianjin, China on: August 13, 2015, 03:07:13 PM
Omg, that pictures with hundreds of cars destroyed broke my heart. So many money lost, it is a miracle than only less than 50 people are dead.
If this explosion wasn't in China I would call it a  terrorist attack but knowing how Chinese are not really primal example of good Occupational Health and Safety at work I think probably some worker was smoking cigarettes near that TNT cargo.
