I hope they make a 400ish Watt unit.. that market has nothing at the moment..

(Although I am pretty sure you all know I want this lol)

This is good news, we need more ASIC companies.

I could use a 400 watt one myself , but I am not sure they will build one.

A 900 watt  with 6 pcie jacks or better yet a 640 watt one with 4 pcie jacks is more likely .

I really want them to take a page from bitmaintech  which is the correct amount of btc jacks for the hash boards.

9 jacks on the s-9 and s-7  for about 1350 watts dc is about 150 watts a jack  truly much safer  then the:

 avalon 6      4 jacks 1000 watts
 avalon 4.1   4 jacks 1000 watts
Well at least Avalon seems to stay within the realm of possibility for the home mining community unlike the S7 and now S9 with their huge wattage requirement. 900w wouldn't be too bad hopefully they keep the sound down and not a vacuum on 24/7.

yeah  the 6s run on 1200 watt atx psu's.
even on good 1000 watt atx psu's.

my biggest grip was the 4 jacks for 1000 watts.

if they make the 7 with 6 jacks and use 900 watts and do 10th  it would be superior to the s-9

No, the wire gauge allows you to run the higher current required for a 1600W PSU. You'll be looking at 7-8A, which you'd want minimum 16AWG (and 14AWG is better) to keep it from being a fire hazard.

yes this is the correct answer.

I run some pc's mining eth coin.  as summer power rates in my state are 16.8 cents with about 1.2 more for cooling so only eth coin makes money at 18 cent power cost.

I run 2 card 400watts   which is under 2 amps at 240 volt power .  I am using an 18awg wire  cool as a cucumber   since it is about 1.7 amps

I run a 4 card 800 watts pc also that has a 16 awg cable  since it is 3.5 amps  and it is also very cool.

I used to run a 2980 ibm  server for 2 avalon 6's   and it had 14awg  because it was pulling  9.6 amps and is was not cool or warm  but somewhere inbetween.

Dear Sonia,

I did 2 groups sales of about 40 units of avalon 6's

Good gear.  With a few faults.  You have 4 pcie jacks  and the gear can pull 1000 watts dc.  This means  250 watts dc per pcie jack.

If you next unit pulls the same 1000 watts dc  please use 6 pcie jacks.  So each one pulls  only about 170 watts.

Also the avalon 6  was a bit less efficient then the early s-7 .

If you could make the avalon 7 a littler better then the s-9  power efficient  wise please do so.

A 900 watt 10th machine with 6 pcie jacks would be ideal.

Thank you , Philipma1957 of bitcointalk.

If I get this email this is how I will answer them.

30147  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitmain Antminer S9 on: June 07, 2016, 05:14:50 AM

I'd like to point out that right now the notion that the Antminer S9 is restricted to AntPool is FUD.

I'll take Kano's word over yours.
His trust factor is quite a bit higher overall on technical issues.

What do I care if you take kano's word over mine?  I'm simply telling you that you won't be restricted to Antpool with S9's.  You can choose to believe the sky is falling.  Makes no difference to me whatsoever.

I think OgNasty will be correct.

Was there really any doubt?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1493601.msg15108924#msg15108924

Yes kano's first post did cause enough doubt in my mind to not order a third unit.

So I now have the coins, but no place to order one.

Mind you I am not complaining as coins went up.

The 6.36 coins I am holding have gone up in value from 3430 to 3733.

So with a big  bump   maybe I end up with free  s-9s
30148  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S9 - How to power in Canada? on: June 07, 2016, 05:10:24 AM
Dell makes a 750 watt titanium server. If it has the same pi out as the standard 750 watt dell it would be great.

If you give me the, dell part number for the dell your board uses I will try to figure out if the dell titanium has the same pin out

I believe that his old board used the Power Edge 2950 PSU.  I'm hoping for something similar to the 4k breakout boards where you can just stack or place side by side two 750s and the board plugs into both PSUs and bridges them for you or will it be something that you have to hardwire together yourself?

found the titanium version

http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-Titanium-Thinkserver-03T8617-SP50E76346/dp/B019HKWQ7I?

2 for 75= 150 plus boards and cables  maybe  210?

but the evga 1600 ti  is 400

would consider this instead.. and it would allow the 120 volt player to use it.

30151  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: June 07, 2016, 03:29:57 AM
Biodom - Actually I was just winging it and using numbers that would backtrack to S9 purchase price for comparison. But using dmwardjr's mining return numbers...

So an S9 would cost me a quarter coin in power if coin is at $1500, leaving me 1.95BTC from the 2.2BTC mined if I roll the entire power cost forward each month for a recompense in December. Though unrealistic, that makes the comparison easier (and also the most optimistic).

So I should buy 1.95BTC right now for about $1150 and cash it out for $2900 at the end of the year for a net profit of $1750?
Or should I buy 3.6BTC right now for about $2100, buy an S9, pay $360 in electric over the next 6 months, mine 2.2BTC and cash it out for about $3300 at the end of the year for a net profit of about $800?
Or should I buy 3.6BTC right now for about $2100 and cash it out at the end of the year for around $5400 for a net profit of around $3300 and no monthly expenditure?

If I'm paying monthly for power on an S9 by selling the required amount of coin monthly, I only actually keep around 1.86BTC by the end of it, so I'd cash out for about $2800 and a net profit of $700. Or I could have bought 1.86BTC for about $1100 and cash it at the end of the year for a $1700 profit.

Your numbers aren't very favorable for buying an S9 fresh. If an S7 runs 1/3 the hashrate it should net 1/3 the coinage, so about 0.73BTC which is currently valued at around $430. I can get an S7 aftermarket for around 0.5BTC and spend 0.25BTC on power (if I roll all my costs forward to recompense in December) for an ultimate breakeven. Or I can keep the BTC and cash out at year's end for a $450 profit. Dang, as much as I like the idea of $1500 coin those numbers really aren't encouraging at all for miners.

the problem as I see is how much growth?

Sep 25 2014   34,661,425,924   16.20%   248,116,151 GH/s

Nov 11 2015   65,848,255,180   5.77%   471,360,171 GH/s

30 jumps we did an average of  2.1%

so from the 7th of june for 30 jumps do we do 2.1%?

in 3 jumps you earn 1.1 btc if you have an s-9 and 5 cent power

and in 30 jumps you earn  8.38 btc

if you have 10 cent power you earn .88 before the  ½ ing
and you earn 5.6 btc

so the s-9  need that growth rate above to do well

the network did that  so it could do it again. or it could do this rate

May 24 2016   199,312,067,531   2.60%   1,426,731,353 GH/s

Nov 24 2015   72,722,780,643   10.44%   520,569,941 GH/s

this is 7.1%    and thats is fucked.

so do you think we do 2.1% for 30 jumps  or 7.1% for 15 jumps

This is the bet  pure and simple .

2.1% growth and the s-9 will be really nice.

7.1% growth and the s-9 will suck.    Buy and   hodl wins
30152  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Need some tips to start mining at low/no electricity cost. on: June 07, 2016, 03:16:08 AM
Hello everyone, I'm new at this post, I want to know if it is possible to make some money mining with a GPU (GTX 750 TI) I live in Venezuela and here the electricity is pretty cheap for mining, I just want to know if I can make some bucks with a small scale gpu, I know that it is a pretty shitty gpu but that's all i can get so please calm your tits, that's all I can get. ThanksBTC.

not a good gpu  can you get this one amd r9 380?

that would make about 40 usd a month after power. you need to mine eth coin.

1 r9 380 uses 170 - 175 watts in a pc.

but I am not perfectly sure about  the one you have as I use amd gpu's  to mine eth coin.

if you want to mine btc no gpu works.
30153  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: June 07, 2016, 03:09:41 AM
Okay  lets argue

 old hash                                     = 400ph before s-7

soon to be old hash                      = 900ph   the S-7 and friends

new hash on and off with a switch = 500ph after s-7

I believe the numbers above are close to correct right now

the ½ ing comes  how much of the 1300ph drops.   I say 600ph drops  but that 500ph of new seems to already be here.

so  they may give us a big drop  after the ½ ing , but in August ,Sept, Oct up up and away.

I study these charts a lot and the spike has become very commonplace.

It is how I determine offline gear.

a screenshot of the chart below  this shows the older spike

Ok I won't lie and pretend I know everything because I don't know too much about the smaller details involved in mining but, I was wondering, is GPU mining truelly dead ? I saw a post the other day about a guy mining eth last month. Unfortunately you would make 3x less with todays difficulty compared to them.

I mean even if there are new coins worth mining because they might go up in value would anyone point me in the right direction ?

yes go here  :

First: I asked mods to move to alt coins.  Alt coins are the only coins worth mining with a gpu.

Second: eth coins are best coin at the moment.

Third: if you have no in house gear of any kind it is harder to do.

Fourth: if you have a decent atx psu.  you can get into the game.

Fifth: no mobo buy this one

 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157471
cost =    $65.00

no cpu buy this one

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA1N83U90757    $46.00

no ram

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820156046

$27.00

no hard drive get this

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA0ZX4685503

$50.00

no os well windows 7 or linux are cheap  real cheap

so for 200 plus a psu and a gpu you are ready.

lots of cheaper psu's out there for 60-75  and a used  r9 390 gpu for 200

so from nothing a 1 card r9 390 for about 500.   and remember it is a real pc.

so figure what 25-28mh  will earn burning 225 watts.

30157  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: June 07, 2016, 02:34:14 AM
As far as base price for S7, where did you guys get $250? This does not exist (yet).
Maybe, that is what you are bidding, but i have seen S7 sold for BTC0.75 ($435, although in EU) just today.
It very well may be that base price would be $300-350 for a while. In fact, if BTC gets to $800 (hypothetically) shortly after halving, it would still be marginally profitable at 7-9c and wildly profitable in WA, Labrador, South America or other low electricity cost areas. Three S7 would still bring the same coin as S9 if your electricity price is very low.

this is why we have not lowered our selling price too much on the 2 s-7's and 3 avalon6's  left in the solar setup

the power is 'free' or 5 cents.

Free since it  has been built and paid for.  fives cents since the power company would pay 5 cents to buy the power.

At five cents 22th makes  675 from now until july 4th

at 0 cents 22th makes     861 from now until july 4th

at zero cents 22th    makes 900 from july 4th to sept 4th

at five cents 22th makes    497 from july 4th to sept 4th

So holding the 5 pieces for 3 months = 1175 to 1761    depends on your math.

30158  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: June 07, 2016, 01:44:50 AM
So if coin increases to $1500, should I buy 1.4BTC right now for about $800 and cash it out for $2100 at the end of the year, or buy 3.6BTC right now for about $2100 and mine around 1.4 BTC by the end of the year to cash out for $2100?

<put your name here> in the alt Universe already bought those 1.4 BTC last year for $400  Grin

I made more money in two months with eth coin then I made with btc in the last seven months.

And in invested less in eth coin then I did btc.

It should do 28mh at under 200 watts for 199 usd.

And maybe it will be available in early july
30160  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RX480 retail selling premium on: June 07, 2016, 12:28:41 AM
While the RX480 stated retail list price is $199, what do people think the retail premium will be during the first couple of weeks?

IIRC, around 01/2014, 280's and 290's had a quantity 1 premium of about $30 - $50 depending on brand.

Also, has anyone ever attempted a group buy for GPU's?

Yes and it turned into a scam. Maybe 150 gpus were paid for and the guy scammed everyone.

I have a contact at provantage.com.  I could ask if he can get bulk and what discount he will give.

I live in New Jersey 07731 zip.
