when you have as much traffic as kano does on his servers you have to sometimes reboot them to clear memory issues on the server
as well as code upgrades for his database / proxy settings and everything else ...
almost all the time that a restart happens its for the better of the pool

Going to be getting an S4 soon and was wondering how you guys have dealt with the noise? I know you can underclock it but that kind of defeats the object of it. Not got to worry too much about ambient temps as I'm in the uk and rarely gets above 25c in summer.
I currently have two s3's under my desk in my room and can quite easily sleep with those on all the time so just wondering what the s4 is like in comparison.

--bitmain-homemode That will slow the fans down. Never had any issues with running them that way, and the temps arent an issue. where do I input this command to get the fans to slow down? Thanks. |

Well I did the reset and luckily it has worked out alright. It's hashing away nicely now for me and not the other guys settings.

Basically I have bought an s4 which turned up last night. I have plugged it in and fired it up. I have changed my router settings to the ip range on the s4 screen but everytime I try to log into it I cant because it does not accept the "root" user and password. I have contacted the guy I bought it from but have not heard back. I was wondering if resetting it would set the access back to "root" default?

I started mining with Antminer U2 usb sticks on a hub and used Bitminter Client software to run them on. Made pennies in a month but it was fun to do. https://bitminter.com/If you go to "Tools" then "Bitminter CLient" and choose what one you want it will download onto your desktop and you have dials for your hashrate and expected earnings for the month. |

I've got two s3's and an s4 on the way but I have resigned myself to the fact I will never make any money doing mining. I won't make a profit within a year or more. The price of the miners plus electricity cost means I have to make £40 a month just to cover the electricity. After 12 days I've made £20 which isn't a lot really when you factor in the cost of the miners as well. The only hope I have is that when I come to sell the miners I make some of tee money back. I am treating this as a hobby and if you joining the Bitcoin mining this late then that's how you need to see it.
