3061  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: November 03, 2020, 04:01:04 AM
Rashid Khan is a world class bowler and even in this IPL his economy is mind boggling which is under 6 while the rest of the esteemed bowlers went for runs and if the batsman can perform well then the opposition will be under pressure if they have to get around 9 runs per over and they will be forced to attack Rashid Khan and that will be the oppositions downfall.

There is no doubt that Rashid Khan is a good bowler. But the problem for SRH is that none of the other bowlers in their squad are capable of giving support to him, especially after Bhuvneshwar Kumar Singh pulled out due to injury. Bowlers such as Sandeep Sharma and Khaleel Ahmed are average at the best, while others such as Basil Thampi have leaked a lot of runs.
3062  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: US 2020 Elections data, polls and bets on: November 03, 2020, 03:39:47 AM
Looking through the FiveThirtyEight pollster ratings it says that Trafalgar has an accuracy rate of 75% which isn't too bad but not enough to really be considered a high quality pollster. They only seem to do better than the traditional pollsters when an unexpected outcome favors a Republican in tight races. This seems like more of a fluke based on having a Republican bias rather than them doing anything special compared to everyone else.

Well.. less than 24 hours left to know whether Trafalgar is accurate or not. Tomorrow at this time, the results will start coming in. The first set of result will be from these six states: Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, South Carolina, Vermont and Virginia. Out of these six, only Georgia is important. 30 minutes later, the counting will start in two crucial states - North Carolina and Ohio. West Virginia will also start counting at the same time. Results from Floroda and a few of the other states will come in from 5pm California time onwards.
3063  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Manny Pacquiao vs. Conor McGregor on: November 02, 2020, 06:51:20 AM
I meant to say, Pacquiao accepted the fight as the current situation in Philippines fighting the coronavirus pandemic will help the country as we all know that the last match Mayweather earned roughly $275 million and $100 million in total for McGregor.

This amount is too huge given the current situation, and that fight between Conor and Floyd, there was a gate entrance, at the current situation, it's not possible, so the number will certainly go down, at least we should not expect that high, but it's still money.

Gate collection is always secondary. Most of the revenue comes from PPV buys and sponsorship. And since fans are hungry for live action, I would expect the revenue from PPV buys to go up. It may not reach the figure they had during the Floyd vs Conor fight (since the fight involves two non-Americans), but we can expect total revenue upwards of $250 million (with most of it coming from North America and the European Union).
3064  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What old coins are you still holding? on: November 02, 2020, 06:06:03 AM
Obviously the first cryptocurrency I received was Bitcoin, in 2012. The same year, I purchased Litecoin as well. I don't own any LTC right now, as I lost all my coins during the Cryptopia hack. I had a few little-known coins from the 2013-14 period, such as Terracoin, Ixcoin and Freicoin. I stored them in VirCurEx, but that exchange went down a few years back and I lost those coins as well.
3065  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I guess bounty hunters really kill projects on: November 02, 2020, 05:58:52 AM
I can't even find this coin in Coinmarketcap list. I found it in CoinGecko, but its absence from CMC is a big red flag. If the project was not a scam, then in all probability they would have listed this token in CMC. And the price drop is really stunning. The token lost more than 95% of its value in just two weeks. Do you really think that this much drop is just because of bounty hunters dumping their rewards?
3066  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People Say btc is Not ponzi but its look like ponzi on: November 02, 2020, 05:46:54 AM
A ponzi scheme that is thriving even after 12 years of its creation? That will be a new record. Also, a ponzi scheme in which the inventor has never profited out of his own creation? That will be a very special type of ponzi. I purchased my first Bitcoins in 2012, for around $10 per coin. Now I have cashed out coins worth 200 times my initial investment, and I still have plenty of coins remaining in my wallet. Still want to call Bitcoin as ponzi?
3067  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Amy Coney Barrett [Supreme Court nominee] on: November 02, 2020, 05:31:43 AM
Go ahead, confirm it's nonsense. Then from the political point of view, Barret really makes the court 5-4. (Noting John Roberts actual record).

Nothing new here, it's been 5-4 conservative many times.

I laugh at anyone who claim that John Roberts is a conservative. He may not be as liberal as Ginsburg or Sotomayor or Kagan, but he is definitely not a conservative. In 100% of the crucial judgements, he has sided with the left. Perhaps the media want to paint him as a conservative, since he was appointed by George W. Bush.

Trump is perhaps the only Republican president in the recent times who have nominated 3 "real" conservative judges (Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett).

George W. Bush, during his two terms nominated one each from the liberal and conservative spectrum (John Roberts and Samuel Alito respectively). The same was the case with George H. W. Bush. He also nominated one each from the liberal and conservative camps (David Souter and Clarence Thomas). Similarly, Ronald Reagan got to nominate 4 judges to the SCOTUS, and he also picked two each from both the camps (liberals - Sandra Day O'Connor and Anthony Kennedy, conservatives - Antonin Scalia and William Rehnquist).

What makes Donald Trump different from all the other GOP presidents before him is the fact that he refused the temptation of becoming the media's darling by sticking to the conservative nominees. This is something none of the GOP presidents before him could do.
3068  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are people giving up on Bitcoin too quickly? on: November 02, 2020, 05:16:20 AM
From my own experience, I would urge everyone to hold their coins. I am the fool who sold 30 BTC in 2015, for $200 per coin. Just imagine what I could have done, if I had all these coins now. Not a day pass by when I don't regret about my decision. But then, we can't travel back in time and reverse our decisions. All I would say to the noobs here, is not to make the same mistake that I did in 2015.
3069  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 12 years and no country has approved Bitcoin ?? on: November 02, 2020, 05:06:28 AM
What do you mean by "approve" BTC? Do you want the governments to dump their national currencies, and make Bitcoin legal tender? I am afraid that it will never happen. That said, dozens of countries have fully legalized Bitcoin, either as an investment asset, or as a currency. Dozens more are likley to do it in the coming years. As of now, this is the maximum that we can expect.
3070  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Indian Super League (ISL) Football match updates, predictions and discussions on: November 02, 2020, 04:55:27 AM
I'm glad to see this news. ISL is very popular in India. Everyone watching ISL matches with great interest. Last year 10 teams got chance to play in ISL. Now 11 teams will play. I would be happier if 15 or 16 teams got a chance to play in ISL. If it will happen ISL would have been more lively and exciting.

11 sounds odd. They could have kept it as 10 or 12. But I don't agree with the suggestion that the number of teams should be increased to 16. I have been to India a lot many times, and unfortunately football is not very popular there. The talent pool is very limited, and in case if the number of teams are increased, then the quality may get diluted. IMO, 10-12 is a good number for now.
3071  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it possible to live without banks? on: November 02, 2020, 04:46:27 AM
Recently PayPal integrated cryptocurrency in to its platform. What does this step tell you? For me, it is a hint that mainstream financial corporations and banks are looking forward to co-exist with the cryptocurrency. They no longer regard cryptocurrency as their competitor. Nowadays, they regard cryptocurrency as an innovation, which can help them in gaining new customers and increase their market share.
3072  Economy / Economics / Re: Second lockdown in Europe can their economy survive this?. on: November 02, 2020, 04:32:35 AM
I don't know why they are destroying their economies with these stupid lockdowns. Now it is up to the people to take the necessary precautions, such as wearing masks and maintaining social distancing. Strict measures from the government, such as new lockdowns will not reduce the number of new cases, and at the same time it will cripple the already damaged economy.
3073  Economy / Economics / Re: In COVID-19 everyone needs motivation on: November 02, 2020, 04:22:18 AM
Some countries divert their allocated funds to support their people, instead of using it to something they manage to bring it over
to give people food and some money to start their life.

Some allows small loan especially to those small to  middle types of business to survive or to recreate new ways of possible incomes.
Not just moral but also in anyhow financial aid is really important to help others in surviving this pandemic.

I have always taken a stand against monetary handouts, and even in this situation I am not going to favor the move. For how long they are going to give these handouts? What will happen in case the pandemic persist for another 12 to 18 months? Let's not forget the fact that the Spanish flu pandemic of 1918 lasted for more than two years, resulting in almost 100 million deaths.
3074  Other / Politics & Society / Re: US Elections 2020 - very self such moderated on: November 02, 2020, 04:11:32 AM
If Arizona flips to Biden, there's a possibility that North Carolina and Georgia could flip to Biden as well. Wisconsin is also a wildcard, certainly not a "gimmie" for the dems.

Arizona is troublesome for the GOP. If you look at the past elections, you can see that the opinion polls have always underestimated the Democrat support in Hispanic-heavy states such as Nevada, Arizona, Texas.etc. On top of that, Arizona is one of the states where there is a huge difference in the early voting numbers. Let's compare Arizona with Nevada (which seems to be going in the other direction).

AZ in 2016, early voting (by voter registration):

Dem - 554,910 (33.6%)
GOP - 659,600 (40.0%)
Trump margin of victory: 3.50%

AZ in 2020, early voting:

Dem - 879,178 (38.2%)
GOP - 836,123 (36.3%).

As you can see, the proportion of Dem voters are up by around 4.5%, while that of GOP is down by -3.7%. That is a net change of 8.2%, which is more than double that of the 2016 margin. No other state is showing this much difference in early voting.

Now, Nevada, for comparison.
NV in 2016, early voting:

Dem - 324,293 (42.1%)
GOP - 278,668 (36.2%)
Trump margin in 2016: -2.42%

NV in 2020, early voting:

Dem - 405,994 (39.6%)
GOP - 373,130 (36.4%)

All the figures for 2020 are as of Oct 31. Early voting turnout is 86.5% of the 2016 actual turnout in AZ, and 91.2% in NV. Arizona is looking very doubtful for the Republicans, unless there is a huge in-person turnout on 3rd Nov.

3075  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Manny Pacquiao vs. Conor McGregor on: November 02, 2020, 03:58:14 AM
According to some news I have read, the Manny Pacquiao vs Conor McGregor battle will be held early January 2021 in the Middle East.
There is no official news yet, but I believe many boxing fans are looking forward to this fight. Although this battle was only entertainment,
not a title race, but very interesting to watch. Moreover, Manny Pacquiao has very many fans from all over the world, should this fight be hype.
Let's just wait for updates regarding this fight.

Both Conor and Manny have signed the deal with Paradigm Sports, but the dates and venue are not finalized. There are rumors that the fight will occur in Saudi Arabia, but none of the sides have confirmed this. There is a large Filipino diaspora in Saudi Arabia and the neighboring regions, and the organizers may be keeping this in mind (along with the low tax rates).
3076  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: November 02, 2020, 03:43:24 AM
As expected, the match between Pakistan and Zimbabwe turned out to be another one sided affair. The Zimbabwe batsmen did a somewhat decent job, but their bowlers failed once again. I don't understand the point in having a series such as this one, between two teams of unequal strength. Zimbabwe needs to be kept out, at least until their performance improves.
I agree with you. It would have been more enjoyable if Pakistan play against Bangladesh or Afghanistan. Then the series will more exciting. Zimbabwe should have hosted a series with a team like Canada or Kenya.

I very rarely see Zimbabwe playing against the associate nations such as Scotland or Netherlands. 90% of the time, they play against the test nations. If they play against the smaller nations, then it could have been mutually beneficial. The matches would be competitive and the players from the associate nations would get a chance to play against quality payers such as Brendan Taylor and Sean Ervine.
3077  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: November 02, 2020, 03:33:53 AM
MI does not care about the match and hence we should expect them to make some changes in the team and rest their main players but for SRH it is a must win match and that means it will be a pressure game for them and their top order should be in top form to win the match and i think the toss will be an important factor and the same situation for DC as they are on a loosing streak, they should win this match against RCB.

MI does not need to win this match, but that doesn't mean that they will play casually and help SRH with two points. They may give chances to one or two players who are sitting on the bench, but I expect them to take this match very seriously. SRH needs to win the match, so the pressure is going to be on them. Without the two points, they can't qualify to the next stage.
3078  Economy / Economics / Re: In COVID-19 everyone needs motivation on: November 01, 2020, 06:35:25 PM
That's true, motivation is not enough but it can help everyone to move forward and think positive that there is a bright tomorrow waiting for everyone. About the help from the government, I think it is provided, it is just not enough to help each and every one of their citizen. The same in our country, that is one of the problem since not anyone received help from the government due to not having enough funds for that program.

Developed nations are handing out welfare checks to those who lost their jobs as a result of the pandemic. But you may not find such measures in most of the developing world. The governments were already facing shortage of cash, and the reduction of tax revenues as a result of the pandemic made matters even worse. Unfortunately, in such countries individuals can't expect much support from the authorities. They need to rely on their friends and family.
3079  Economy / Economics / Re: Not enough Corona Virus Vaccine until 2024, at earliest on: November 01, 2020, 06:17:23 PM
Right now, 8 vaccines are going through the phase III clinical trials and another two are going through combined phase II-III trials. There is a good chance that at least half (5 out of 10) will be approved by the end of this year. Mass production may take some time, but I am hopeful that within the next 12 to 18 months, everyone will be vaccinated against the Coronavirus.
3080  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How far will you go when you sent btc to a site with high fee but... on: November 01, 2020, 06:07:56 PM
I always keep a small amount of my coins in the form of Bitcoin Cash (BCH) or Ethereum (ETH). When the Bitcoin transaction fee goes over the roof, I mostly make deposits using these coins. And as far as I know, most of the gambling sites accept deposits with BCH or ETH. Some of them even accept Litecoin and ETC, but I don't have those coins in my wallet.
