Merit abuse is not something that theymos wants to be dealt with using the trust system, and so you will struggle to find any DT members who are going to be willing to tag these accounts:
If a DT member tags you for something stupid involving merit (ie. probably anything less than selling merit), then they're not going to be a DT member for much longer.

Your best bet is going to be reporting the accounts for breaking the rules - thread bumping, spamming, plagiarism, etc.

If I remember correctly this comment was referring to the merit sources and if they get tagged by DTs for giving away merit, I not really sure that this applies to all the users.

65 pages of pure delicious spam spam spam bacon eggs sausages and spam.

I've been "reporting for fun" in the last hours and days again. It actually is a full-time job... Is there a way of making a living by spam reporting? Cool

You can't make a living out of it, but its a hobby for me and makes me feel good when I see all the reports marked with "good".

Don't look at Lafu, he is extraordinary, it's difficult to compete with him, he is like a reporting machine Cheesy

Oh, so nice to see some of the word-spinners banned even after so much time. Congrats mate, I've been catching those like you for a long time now, and I'm not alone anymore, we are many and we are after anyone crossing the rules.

[~] Am pleading for forgiveness and temper justices with mercy please and unbanned my account (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2312222)

Some user wrote in Meta about his banned profile, which is still active according to BPIP: https://bpip.org/profile.aspx?p=wizardcrypto

It can be a temporary ban, which will not be visible in the modlog and not not in BPIP. We have to wait and see if this is the case. I think most likely is a week ban.

Sorry to post here guys but just want to tell something

Sometimes ago I reported some post(s) from a user who logs in the forum just to spam his blog. The post(s) was/were moderated as it's supposed to be. After some time the user started to use the off topic section, thinking he won't be reported there. Too bad for him since I was checking his profile from time to time.
Last month I reported him again 9/10 times for the same reason. And even found he uses an alt account to behave the same.

Now I am honestly tired to report people if nothing is done. I mean you can get a post deleted from time to time it isn't a reason to be banned yeah I agree with but how many times I would need to report him. I have seen cases where the mods are more radical...

If you have reported him so many times you can see the deleted posts in bpip and then in your next report request the mods to ban the account based on the multiple breaking of the rule #1 :
Quote
No zero or low value, pointless or uninteresting posts or threads

And refering to the number of deleted messages.

This should help in your case and the account should be banned.

Maybe we have a higher chance to get some answers from the users instead of waiting for themyos to unveil the mystery.
I'll try to involve them here and see what happens.. Smiley

Edit> just sent a message to 3dOOm, hoping that he will post some answers Smiley

Why?

Money

It's simple as that. In addition to the signature campaigns, people are developing and selling accounts, even a newbie accounts.
There are some random new users trying to copy what other "regular" users do in hope to get merit, then they come in meta and complain about how they have hundreds of good quality comments but get no merit...

Money is everything...

3112  Other / Meta / Re: Weird newbie account with 2 merit wearing avatar? on: January 27, 2019, 03:52:37 PM
If this bug was accidentaly made by the new copper membership fee, then I suggest if you really want it badly, then pay for it again Tongue

Do you have any reference for it? It looks like this is not a isolated case. People have posted at least 2 more accounts with the same issues.
Really want to know what happened Smiley
3113  Other / Meta / [Solve]Theymos, can you solve the mystery? newbies with 2 merit watering avatar? on: January 27, 2019, 07:39:52 AM
The mystery is solved : those are part of the team recovering the hacked/lost accounts.

Finally we got an clarification on this mystery from theymos.

FYI: The humans handling the new account recoveries system which was implemented late last year are a company that Cyrus created called Cryptios. alanst, 3dOOm, and Rizzrack -- the "mysterious newbies" who some people noticed -- are three of their employees. They've been doing a great job.

Mystery is solved, they are the account recovery team members.

Is this a bug??

It's not de-ranked full member, should have 100 merit at least, registered after the merit system.

A bit weird user, newbie with 2 merit, registered in July 2018 but wearing avatar.

Anyone can explain this??

Does the copper membership allows you to wear avatar now?

Just out of curiosity, what we gonna do if there's a forking of one of the coins?
Like for instance, the Stellar (XML) will fork on 19 of February and for all the XML in the wallet you get the same amount  XLF.
I know some exchanges can decide not to reward the forked coins, but in case they do, shall those be added to the pool?
If the exchange does not reward the extra coins, shall we take them out in an external wallet only to receive the forked coins?

- Provide accessible buttons with links for modlog, seclog etc on the top bar area next to the my messages menu?
 - A report button as well next on the top bar next to the my messages option which shows how many reports you have and what's the status of each report.

I think both options can be fixed with bookmarks, if you bookmark the modlog and seclog you have access to them with one click and you can also bookmark the report history ( if you have 300+ good reports ) It's the same.

3120  Economy / Reputation / Re: Iasenko's DT Negative/Positive feedback discussion thread. on: January 25, 2019, 01:04:38 PM
I apologize, but your actions are contrary to the rules of the forum, thus you are undermining the reputation of the forum as a free platform for communication!
I do not change the way you communicate with the others. As long as you are not engaged in any sell/buy/trade deals on the forum, the negative feedback has no value. I consider your behavior untrustworthy and I've noted it on your trust wall.
Anyone who want to deal with you should be aware that you haven't develop the account yourself, so your rank and reputation are false. That's all.

This free community has given me the power and responsibility to protect it from eventual threads based on my own judgments.
Also the community can control my actions as to trust or distrust me and take my powers away.

As you can see now(your trust score), I'm not the only one thinking that your behavior is shady.

Case solved > Turned out that the account was hacked and the original owner have the control now.
