I give it twenty minutes before he creates a thread in here asking why he was banned without warning and that he never spammed or made off topic posts  Cheesy.
3102  Economy / Services / Re: ★ Coinroll ★ Signature Campaign ★ on: June 29, 2017, 04:10:49 PM
you know there are better paying campaigns out there for a lot less effort? why not check one of those out?

There's not any better campaigns when you have as many posts as he has. He'll get about 7.5 dollars without even making any posts so you can't get much more effortless than that. I think people care too much about their post count here. Sometimes you might have posts or threads deleted but this campaign or forum doesn't owe you anything for that and it's something you'll just have to count as an occupational hazard. I'm sure it's rare that things like this happen anyway.
3103  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Series and films in which Bitcoin appears (Collection Thread) on: June 29, 2017, 03:53:07 PM
It's in the plot of the FilmCow film Detective Heart of America: The Final Freedom https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1F1YyDPZLX8

There's a couple of other films and TV shows I've seen it mentioned in this year but I can't recall them off the top of my head.

I even saw that thread cited as a bitcoin news source in more than one articles.

Where and when? I'm guessing that was a long time ago though when the thread was relevant and on topic.

Because the op of that thread is no longer active and doesn't moderate off topic postings and as such it's now mostly full of idiots discussing alt coins day after day. Sick of seeing dozens of reports from that thread every day. Plenty of other pointless threads in Speculation to talk shit in. If you want to talk about alt coins then do that in the alt coin section.

Another idiot moderator's opinion ... just do your fucking job and clean the thread up. How could it be "another pointless thread" if it is getting so much attention from the trolls and spammers? Not to mention the massive number if views it gets daily.

Hardly any of the guidelines were being followed nor was the op even active to enforce them and as such it was taken over by idiots continually making off topic posts.

Wall Observer
A free service brought to you by the bitcoin community

Whenever there is a significant change in market depth, please update this thread with a new depth chart, and a good price chart with some TA is also welcome, feel free to comment on these if you have something to worth contributing, ( if your post is not at all TA it will be deleted )

Posting guild lines:
Please lets keep this thread clean. ( I will be removing any off topic posts )
Do not post random comments on this thread, unless it is directly related to the last wall update (ex. The 20K ask was was NOT sold into, it was removed after being tested)
 When you post a chart please use bitcoincharts.com, mtgoxlive.com, btccharts.com or bitcoinity.com

as requested, i have started a new thread.
this thread is now a self-moderated topic.
I will try and keep this thread clean, with only facts, current trends, past price movements, depth charts, etc.
I promise to not delete post simply because i do not agree with the bearish TA.

Note: Do not post random comments on this thread, unless it is directly related to the last wall update.

Well it was mostly random comments. Not sure why that thread is even so important to you. The second version of a locked thread I might add. And since when does a thread being popular with shitposters make it a great thread? The how long have you been logged in for thread used to get a lot of views and attract masses of shitposters too. The creator of the Wall thread no longer contributes to it and it has little to do with what it was originally created for and no longer serves its purpose. All it was was idiots talking about random speculation and alt coins and you can do that in the multitudes of other pointless threads. Dozens of people's posts were removed there every day but it made no difference so enough is enough. No idea why people have a hard on to do it in that specific thread.

And you're quite right in your other posts - the spam will just metastasize somewhere else. Locking the thread ultimately solves nothing.

No, it stops people from making off topic posts in there. If you want to talk about speculation then do it in one of the other speculation threads. If you want to talk about alt coin speculation then go to the Alt Coin Speculation sub.
3105  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would anyone be interested in doing pool betting on the English Premier League? on: June 29, 2017, 01:02:26 PM
Ok. I added you. I'm surprised not many other tipsters have joined up. If they were truly great tipsters they should have a big advantage in this sort of tournament.

I agree with you, I don't see many of the tipsters who were sponsored by Sportsbet a few months ago. I see there are a few great tipsters like CarlesPuyol and Betadviser but I am surprised to see Joca97 and ajaxmoor which are truly good tipsters are missing this tournament. Maybe you need to bump this thread a bit more, me too I only saw this yesterday and immediately applied to join.

It's bumped almost every day. I even asked Joca97 and ajaxmoor directly but they didn't seem interested.

3107  Other / Meta / Re: My proposal to forum administration on: June 29, 2017, 10:48:15 AM
I think all staff can delete or trashcan a thread as long as it is in their jurisdiction so to speak. IE a patroller can only delete or trashcan a thread created by a newbie and a local only mod can only delete/trashcan a thread in their local board.

I know the Wall observer thread is only locked but theymos mentioned creating a board that didn't contribute to post count because of that thread and I thought he may have tested something out with it.
3108  Other / Meta / Re: About the username change on: June 29, 2017, 10:30:11 AM
Short story is you can't. Admins only change people's username in rare circumstances.
3109  Other / Meta / Re: My proposal to forum administration on: June 29, 2017, 08:53:52 AM
I had a look in the trashcan but figured if it was an old thread it would be like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Also if it was straight up deleted it wouldn't be in there. I wonder if theymos tried tinkering with something or the wall observer thread that effected post counts? I guess we'll just have to wait for theymos to look into it.
3110  Other / Meta / Re: My proposal to forum administration on: June 29, 2017, 08:06:39 AM
Big threads are rarely deleted or moved to the trashcan and are in fact usually just locked. The only big ones I've ever trashed are utter shit threads in gambling discussion or off topic like is 0.002 bitcoin a good amount to gamble with or what time do you wake up in the morning etc after they have quickly been spammed to death. I don't know what thread has gone but I'll have a scan of the trashcan when I get on the PC.
3111  Other / Meta / Re: Hacked Account on: June 29, 2017, 06:41:52 AM
Yeah, I think they can but you'll have to contact theymos or Cyrus for that.
3112  Other / Meta / Re: Wall Observer Thread locked? on: June 29, 2017, 06:24:24 AM
What if I create an Off-Topic -> Chat section which doesn't contribute to post count, is ignored from unreadposts by default, hides signatures, and has some additional unpaid mods pulled from the Wall Observers regulars? It'd be exempt from some of the rules in order to allow for the chatroom-like style.

Would be a good experiment, though I wouldn't be against the entire off topic section not counting towards post count because it is massively abused by shitposting farmers trying to rank up their accounts (though my previous suggestion of removing signatures from ranks would also stop that). The off topic board currently doesn't have any moderators at all so I'd just promote a couple of existing staff to there if anyone wants the position. Alternatively, maybe make the chat sub a completely unmoderated board and see how that goes. All those that complain about censorship or moderation would at least have their own hell to exist in  Cheesy.
3113  Other / Meta / Re: Hacked Account on: June 29, 2017, 06:20:32 AM
Nope,  but I have suggested previously used addresses be logged there for situations like this. Admins can restore posts if you know of any where you posted an address.

You asked for it to be locked but either way if you want it restored or locked/banned you're going to have to follow the steps here:

3116  Other / Meta / Re: Hacked Account on: June 29, 2017, 05:42:46 AM
If you can reasonably prove the account is yours it can be banned but signing a message from am old address associated with it is the best way to do that.
3117  Other / Meta / Re: Anyone else get a Qtum advertising PM? on: June 28, 2017, 08:30:52 PM
Any plans on banning Qtum, since it's almost definitely them/their team behind the spam?

Without strong evidence, I can't ban the subject of spam because then you could get anyone banned by spamming "for" them.
Isn't it an idea to optionally allow people to block PMs coming from newbies? It cost zero effort to create an account and to start spamming, while reaching jr member status at least requires some sort of effort.

I've suggested this before especially when people can and do just create new accounts to spam pm you once you block an account. In this case though not all of them were newbie accounts as they were using older hacked ones.
3118  Other / Meta / Re: Why is the exchanges board hidden? on: June 28, 2017, 05:37:34 PM
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=223.0

It's not hidden, unless you mean it should be under Marketplace as opposed to Service Discussion.

There have been dozens of them banned today. They're using hacked accounts mostly registered in 2011. Just report them and they get banned pretty quick.
