3121  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Signature Advertisement Blindness on: March 19, 2018, 03:52:53 PM
Today, I noticed that I simply ignored the signature advertisement - banner blindness.

I do the same however some sigs sometimes get my attention.

~
Most of these sigs are really filled with ICO advertisements.

I have advertised a few in my signature that has done very well, but they weren't ICO or coins.
The channel im advertising on my sig is really working well.
3122  Other / Meta / Re: Thin (!) strategy to earn more Merit - Drama Queen (aka alia) busted Finally!!! on: March 19, 2018, 03:35:23 PM
I have spend almost last 24 hours to read only two posts on the forum. One about alia and another one about aTriz. Here I am thinking I have now a proven point to claim that I was right at the time of writing the original post.

After reading both posts above, it's obvious that alia was literally fooling everyone even, theymos. So in my OP if you get an impression about nullius giving alia merits for her (his, their or whatever doesn't even matter) so called relevant and high quality posts then it's obvious that nullius was just a victim like other especially aTriz.

The strategy from alia was really very simple. She (he, they etc) simply targeted few highly reputable members like aTriz, Lauda, TMAN, Foxpup and others, not to mention nullius, made a circle around them and started taking benefit of the human weakness (Trust).

Great job scam_detector  Grin

PS: I was in vacation since last 3rd March so I really do not have much update about the forum. I will move my focus after posting this thread.
3123  Other / Meta / Re: Merit hole and 3 fixes might work (Worth looking) on: March 03, 2018, 02:55:26 PM
Initially, I thought Merit was a bad idea then I realised I was wrong. Few days ago I created a poll to get feedback from the community and the result changed my mind (Although, I believe I need more data to give the credit to the poll but I figured it out anyway).

More data has been added on the poll since we made this OP. Sill I can see most of the people are happy because of the merit however they are not happy due to the way people are abusing their sMerit.

3124  Other / Meta / Re: Ideas for improving post quality? on: March 03, 2018, 02:40:26 PM
Creating the "serious discussion" section can be good idea before removing signature globally. If it can be done without this poster restrictions then that would be better (everyone should have equal right).

This has already been created: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=250.0

If you make speed easy to get: every eg junior doctor and every lorry driver will end up having to take it in order to compete.
And dope: the prozzers will all be forced to take it, and factory workers will all take it.

Thumbs up!

My vote is yes, for those over 18 years of age. I think all drugs should be available over the counter. Instead of creating black markets for drugs, why not have it open market and just propagandize the dangers?

Sorry, mine is no.
3126  Other / Meta / Re: Ideas for improving post quality? on: March 03, 2018, 10:26:08 AM
What are everyone's ideas for improving post quality?

I have mostly ruled out:

 - Removing signatures or sig ads globally.
 - Requiring payment to wear sig ads.
 - Banning account sales.

A couple of ideas that have been floating around in my head:

1. To attain ranks above Member, you'd have to earn some number of merit points. Merit points would be awarded in a monthly vote on best posts of the previous month, with various measures (TBD) to prevent gaming of the vote. Winning merit points might also come with a BTC prize.

2. Create or designate some sections as "serious discussion" sections, with no signatures. In those sections or maybe in different ones, also have poster restrictions such as Member rank or above only. And/or allow topic-creators to set these restrictions on their topics, similar to selfmod topics.

What do you think of these ideas, and what other ideas do people have?

Creating the "serious discussion" section can be good idea before removing signature globally. If it can be done without this poster restrictions then that would be better (everyone should have equal right).

Before removing the signature or sig ads globally we need to have a practical idea of the possible output we could expect on the entire forum from it. - No doubt signature and ranking up are connected with each others and people want to rank up because they will get better payment from the signatures campaigns. Removing sig ads may drop the traffic of the site dramatically. Provably you will see only those people who will constantly post or participate on the "serious section" only.

By the way, I see merit as a success to improve post quality. It's doing a great job. The only problem we are seeing is - people are misusing it. If we can figure out how to stop misusing merit then we won't need any other fix to improve post quality (If that is the only concern for the time being).

I wounder if you were able find any use from these suggestions.

They are weak when it comes to pussy. if you have one, show it on camera and get merits. probably I would've be sending out hundreds of merits to alia if I had that many. (actually not, despite being a loser virgin, I'm not weak against girls, that's because I haven't jumped one yet. maybe experiencing matrimonial intercourse, could develop a weakness in me).

You just bought another idea on the table  Grin

Please, don't send me merit. If you have merit to spare then give it to those that need it. Or save it, and in the likely case that there are more people here that deserve merit than I have available, you can send them the merit instead.
Thanks for speaking it out loud.

3130  Other / Meta / Re: Would you join this Merit Survey? on: March 02, 2018, 11:23:34 PM
...one more thing, there could maybe be a drop menu when you click on merit where you can select the amount (example: 1,2,3,5,10) or click on + if you think it deserves more.
My argument for this is: Since the merit is directly involved in ranking up, then it should appear more available and more practical to give.

It really is a good idea. Most of the time you might not have it in mind (sending merit) the way currently it's on the right corner with just a "+Merit" link.
3131  Other / Meta / Re: Does merit really helping the forum. on: March 02, 2018, 10:28:35 PM
It is almost a month the new system of merit has been implement to the forum. What is your opinion? It is really working as it was expected? What is you opinion?

- Yes, no doubt it's working. Merit is helping people to create good contents however the way we are applying merits, is not right. Some good tweaks might bring out a solid application of the merit.

Anyway, I would like to see your constructive though on the topic instead of just asking us. You see, Merit is here for to eliminate post like yours. The question you are asking can be easily answered if you would take a little time and looked around instead of creating this thread.

I hope you got your answers now.

Your post history is worse than decent, and although the quality has been getting better recently (meaning the past few weeks), it's an obvious ploy to try to earn more Merit (keyword: obvious).

But do NOT post passive aggressive topics that turn into sucking up to others. That's the vibe I'm getting from you in this thread. It's unnatural, forced, and quite frankly, awkward as hell.
- Thanks for the suggestion/advise.

I am in support of merit system coz it was needed to improve the contents however we are giving merit a bad name. We are throwing away merits to someone we like. I'm sure if we would not see who has what rank and if there was a way to elemental the favourite mentality then we would not see all these trash talking with merit system.

3134  Other / Meta / Re: Would you join this Merit Survey? on: March 01, 2018, 02:58:59 PM
I'm kind of sad when i saw a one-liner-less-than-ten-word post of a high ranked getting merits and thinking if that post was made by a low ranked member, will it get some merits?

It's happening most of the time. We tend to believe that someone with high reputation is going to produce good contents. I am not denying the fact that they can not but not in all case.

Look, merit system is doing exactly that it was intended to do. Now we see people are not posting shits that much rather people are thinking before posting anything. So it's not the Merit system we should blame for that. It's the application level to be blamed. We need to improvise it. Some tweaking can perfect the current merit system.

Just having a wild thought, (don't count)...

How about disable showing the rank for the members for a week or two on the forum. Since no one can see what is your rank so whenever someone will send any sMerits to someone else then they are actually sending it because of the true value. (I know it's really a wild thinking LOL )

well-thought on the post. I wish I could sMerit.

Sorry brother, Merit System is a failure of this forum.
- It's not a failure in fact it already done a great deal of improvement. The idea of merit bringing on the table was very much necessary for the forum however you can blame the application label. It needs to be improvise to work better.

sorry thread I made a bit off the mark.
I am just confused with so many of her threads the same, eg "bitcoin price down" or "its falling bitcoin price" and still many others its.
the thread is different writing but its meaning is the same, still it-that's all. what before making threads they never see first thread before? what kind of things can be called spamer?
there is little benefit I get if all threads like that. Cry Cry Cry

There's already tons of topics in which exactly this happens...

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2825523.msg28944688#msg28944688 < as example..

You nailed it.

In recent years, it has become increasingly difficult to find the right information, you have to reread hundreds of meaningless posts in order to find what you are looking for.

3138  Other / Meta / Re: Create a level above Legendary on: February 28, 2018, 06:05:35 PM
We are still testing Merit system.

The current merit system has it's hole, people are lacking it's use-case. Improvising it will take much longer time (May be). Bringing a new direction on the table may make the entire system a mess. Plus I wonder why do you need another rank? What is the use case?

PS: The idea of Merit system itself is working great. We see people are more focused on creating good contents rather than posting shits.
3139  Other / Meta / Re: A good way to obtain merit points on: February 28, 2018, 04:29:12 PM
What do you think guys?

If you are after merit then be strategic. The strategy works fine for you may not work the same for others. However you really need experiment the strategies to find which one is working.

If you are not after merit and only here to hang out with the community then just keep doing that you are doing. Why bother about merit?

"You always see what you really wanted to see" - not sure where I read it but I believe it's a good philosophy.

Him tried to break it down however let me rephrase the things since the original post made a month ago from now...

Quote
1.I think the lower ranked members is never going to rank up to legendary.
- Using "never" will be a wrong idea. We have seen there are a lot of people receiving good amount of merits because of their good writing skills, although unfair things are happening and reality is it's really hard to stop. You need to be strategic if you care for merit and if not then focus on providing value to the community.

Quote
2.Soon there maybe a merit farming.
- well yeah, it's already happening. You will be amazed mathematically it goes really big! Have a look on my 1st suggestion.

Quote
3.I am sure that not all the quality posts will get merits.
- It's quite impossible. In fact we do not know what will be the percentage of the good posts that won't get merited. It's just sad  Sad

Quote
4.Mods,DT,merits sources are exchanging smerits between them.
- If you have bad intention in mind then no one can stop anyone not just them.

Quote
5.Random members going to be tagged if someone exchanged merits, but it is not going to happen if a DT member do.

- I guess my second suggestion resolve this.
