3121  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Any exchanges accepting Bitcoin Cash / ABC / BCH / BCC or whatever it is called? on: August 02, 2017, 09:32:02 AM
Have tried yobit, Kraken (site not working), OKCoin, Bittrex...

All claim to support it but none are accepting deposits! No wonder the price is holding up is impossible to sell them...

Because bitcoin cash network still unstable due too many bugs on abc nodes I guess, and for most exchanges won't accept bitcoin cash for now even though trade on their site still on going, but withdraw bitcoin cash still unavailable right now.
We should wait until the abc devs team stated all clear and we may see bitcoin cash drop significantly if all those bch deposited to exchanges.
Network is stable, didn't hear about bugs, just slow blocks, that is not problem, and again, there is exchange that is accepting depos; cryptox.pl

Zero blocks mined in six hours sounds like a problem. ViaBTC's Bcash pool is now only showing 68P, pretty weak. I wonder if miners will defect and the new chain will die. At this difficulty, a lot of money is being wasted trying to mine Bitcoin Cash.

btc-e.nz is registered to EUROSTYLE ADVISOR LTD

btc-e.top is registered to EUROSTYLE ADVISOR LTD

now btc-e.top redirects to exmo.com

Our money are at exmo.com?  Undecided

Wow, that's actually very interesting. BTC-e.top was showing something like a BTC-e mirror. I thought it was a phishing site, but now I'm not so sure, if it's registered to the same company that registered BTC-e.nz (their Russian-facing domain).

Even more interesting, I have always heard that there were connections between BTC-e and exmo.....

Online sleuths, your job calls!
3123  Other / Meta / Re: Note to admins, BCC is an alt, why threads about it are in the main forum? on: August 02, 2017, 08:55:14 AM
Can't be considered an alt, is a new currency from the Nakamoto's ledger

Anybody can hard fork Bitcoin right now. There could be a billion hard forks from "Nakamoto's ledger"..... are they all Bitcoin? Of course not!

It's not compatible with the original chain, so it's an alt. That's how I see it, anyway. But I don't care if it's talked about on the main forums. I love a little FUD. It's good for the soul! Grin
3124  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BTC-E.com will be back on: August 02, 2017, 08:53:07 AM
is anyone offering odds on the exchange relaunching? are people selling accounts? i guess a decent sample of account sales, judging by the percentage slashed off the value, would tell us the odds.

I saw an account for sale a few days ago, before the news of the FBI seizure had become widespread. I didn't see anything in Digital Goods just now.

I imagine there are some account sales happening (if this is anything like Gox), but they're probably more likely to be taking place on the Russian forums than the marketplace here.
3125  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC-e joint refund group on: August 02, 2017, 08:49:44 AM
I don't believe the US will confiscate bitcoins from anyone who hasn't committed any illegal act as that would be illegal on their part.

LOL.. They absolutely will.

All of us who had coins on BTC-e will not see ANYTHING for years. If at all.. Sad..

I always like BTC-e. Seemed a no-nonsense site.. It was actually my FIRST..  I'll miss it.

I had moved my BTC out of the exchange in readiness for Aug 1st.. so Only had a few Litecoins on there. Enough to hurt, but not to cry.

OP - Sorry for your loss. That's a cry amount...

But why? Isn't that illegal to take away other people's money, when they are just regular citizens? How can they explain that? What excuses can they use?

I think money will be returned in a month, in two months max.

Returned by who? The FBI etc didn't even announce any seizure of funds. Naturally anything exposed to Moneypolo, Okpay, Mayzus could be seized. But based on how BTC-e was organized, it's very possible that much of the funds are intact. There was mention of purses being seized but one would hope that 1) they are encrypted and 2) just hot wallets.

Best chance of repayment is from BTC-e, not the feds. The DOJ is treating this like Libertyreserve.
3126  Other / Meta / Re: Note to admins, BCC is an alt, why threads about it are in the main forum? on: August 02, 2017, 08:46:28 AM
I agree with the OP in this matter. We are not going to allow Altcoins taking place here, so why allow discussions about BCH?

I saw a Bitcoin Cash thread in Speculation got moved to Altcoin Speculation. So maybe it's just forum by forum, mod by mod, and theymos hasn't opined on the matter.

It doesn't seem like much of a threat to Bitcoin, I guess. With some luck, the Bitcoin Unlimited people will all flock to it, and we can go our separate ways. Maybe that's the idea?
3127  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BTC-e hacked ?? on: August 02, 2017, 08:44:15 AM
when you transfer something on btc-e exchange, it is no longer yours. They give you a remote to do something with it, but that's about it.

so, all who had something on btc-e, return is based only on a good will. Or luck. Or Russian steel balls. Divine providence. Call it whatever you want.

So far, i choose to believe them. Time will show.

Everybody involved should keep calm and wait, pissing around with lawyers, mafia, baseball bats and so on, makes you look like 2yr old girl who lost her favorite blanket.

basically. russian steel balls is our best bet. if they weren't russian, i'd have considered this over days ago. but for now, i still give it a small chance. probably less than 10%.

there are still some problems here. even if they successfully evaded having much fiat seized (through various shell companies, less friendly jurisdictions, etc), how can they realistically operate a USD or EUR exchange at this point? they will be blacklisted.

maybe they can just use Tether? is that possible?

i guess maybe things like webmoney, yandex, etc might still work? not sure.....

Russian steel balls. I like that! Grin

Sigh---time will tell, guys. I have given up hope so that I can put my mind to rebuilding. It will be a long process. I kept almost all my crypto money on BTC-e. Live and learn! I always wanted to be ready to dump if necessary. Now I see it was not worth it.

Good luck everyone.

blablabla

You are very delusional and you didnt read the last statement, there you go:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2056158.0

Unfortunately, I think any service in BTC-e's position will make a similar statement. Pretty vague, really. Now we are supposed to wait another week or two for another empty statement, and then the updates will become further and further apart.

I really, really hope I'm wrong. Undecided
3129  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC and BCC vs. ETH and ETC on: July 31, 2017, 10:24:17 AM
The question is, will people come to see it as a direct competition for Bitcoin (including the name)? Or just an altcoin?

I'm squarely in the anti-hard fork camp. But I have to say, I'm stocking up on popcorn. Between Bitmain and the apparent interest in BCC, I hate to say it, but this might not go away.

During the time you spent writing in this thread, OP, you could have made that money back doing any number of things. 3 ETC? Come on, now!

Update for BTC-e customers (Google translation from Russian):

More detailed information about what happened to the BTC-e service.

On July 25, 11:00 the FBI staff came to the data center where our server equipment was located and seized all equipment, the servers contained databases and purses of our service.

Almost for 6 days we could not get from our hosting provider the sane information, what happened to our servers because of this information we publish only now.

July 28, the domain was confiscated.

At the moment, part of the service facility is arrested by the FBI.

The next update will be information on what options are available to restore the service, as well as the procedure for obtaining funds, in the event that the service is not started. In the current situation, if the service is not started before the end of August, Then from September 1 we will start the process of refund.
In the next 1-2 weeks, we will evaluate and publish information about how much money fell into the hands of the FBI and what amount of funds is available for return.

For all those who buried us, I will remind you that the service has always worked on trust and we are ready to answer for it.
The funds will be returned to everyone!

Arrest of the Russian Vinnyk Alexandra:
Officially declare - Alexander was never the head or employee of our service.

Sincerely, btc-e

P.S. In the subject write questions as far as possible we will answer them.

Seems like everyone reading the thread glossed over this. Bump.

Seems like biding for time. But why? If they've already disappeared, they've already disappeared. It's the FBI after them; customers can't do much. But how can they not know what's been seized and what hasn't? It's not clear how recent their backups are, either. Maybe just periodic dumps to remote server...
3132  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Should exchanges be trusted anymore? on: July 31, 2017, 10:15:49 AM
Had been in a dilemma after seeing BTC-E's owner being arrested for a $4 Billion money-laundering fraud which he had been conducting, who knows that from when. First Mt Gox, then Bitfinex then Poloniex and now this, few were hacked and some had their admins only cheating their users.
Do you really think any exchanges are trustworthy anymore?

Exchanges were never trustworthy; you can only spread around the risk. Your best bet is with registered, VC-backed exchanges (like Coinbase, Gemini, Bitstamp) because even if they get hacked, their investors will probably bail the customers out.
3133  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [POLL] Will BTC-E return? on: July 31, 2017, 10:08:33 AM
Update your votes to reflect new information!

https://mobile.twitter.com/btcecom/status/891928666065707008

You should just make a new poll now. I imagine this will change some people's opinions (but those people won't come back to change votes).

This increases odds from 2% favorable to 5%. The problem is that this is what any dying service is gonna do: tell you it's gonna be fine and that you'll get repaid. Most of the time those operators just disappear, though. Undecided

FBI seized wallets? Does that mean that FBI confiscated private keys too or what BTC-e wanted to say?Huh?

I just hope that BTC-e was not that stupid to leave private keys on trading servers, at least not for their cold wallets, or otherwise !!!!!!!!!!!

If purses were seized, okay, but shouldn't the keys have been encrypted? And this should only be for the hot wallets, right?

The fact that they put it like this does not bode well.......

if you are stupid you can believe them . they never back ... they just need enough time  Grin Grin

all scamers always use these words  Cheesy

umm. they did not 'scam' anyone. most if their shit is seized by fbi. they are in the dark and are trying to make things work (trying to keep angry traders calm). thats normal reaction from them. what do you expect they do?

We don't know that most was seized by the FBI. Just servers with database and access to "purses." One would hope those keys are encrypted in which case, seizure doesn't necessarily mean anything. And we should only be talking about client wallets and hot wallets, not cold storage, in theory.

This may be true. I feel they are just biding for time. But then I think: What will time do for them now? If they are going to disappear, they have already disappeared. The FBI has a better chance than any of us chump traders do anyway. Grin
