To rule out problems with Hive OS, I would format the hard drive and install the latest version of this OS. It's less than 10 minutes.
3122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Which GPU is best for minning now a days? on: March 17, 2022, 10:12:59 AM
I vote for Rtx 3060 ti non LHR as the most efficient card ever made until now,119 watt at 61-62 Mhsh depending on the type of brand of the card and memory of it.Five such cards make 300 Mhsh and only 600 watt from the wall (I have measured power of my Rtx 3060 ti with watt meter and it is 120 watt) so for the moment this remains the most efficient card for mining. It is also a set and forget card,I own it since February 2021 and never had a problem with it.
The first Rtx 3060 ti video cards had such results, and these used video cards are more expensive than the new LHR Rtx 3060 ti video cards.
But these advantages only work in Ethereum mining, which may end in the 3rd quarter of this year. So I don't want to buy these overpriced graphics cards.
3123  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to catch new PoW coin release on: March 17, 2022, 10:07:23 AM
I missed the release of the Alephium coin which was released some time ago and since then I've been curious about how to somehow get notified if a new PoW coin is out, how do you go about this?
This coin is missed by many miners because I have no desire to mine a coin that cannot be sold. Every month 50-100 coins can appear, and 99% of them will be scam. You better think about how you will analyze it.
I'm confused, are you talking about before because Alephium is listed on gate .io exchange, it has a high price of 1.2$ before dropping down to 22cent, those who mined from day one are the winner because even if the project is going to reach ATH again it's not going to be anytime soon.
Dogecoin was also mined and traded on exchanges for $0.027, and then its price increased by more than 2ХХ times. The new ones have a lot of problems in mining, because there are no good pools and information on settings. And as soon as the coin becomes known, the profit in mining falls rapidly.

Which GPU is best for minning now a days?
Don't buy 3800 and 3900 video cards if you are a beginner. But best of all, wait 3 months for news about the end of Ethereum mining. If this happens, then the price of video cards will begin to fall sharply.
If the news goes like this ' Ethereum mining algorithm is here to stay ' I bet that mining difficulty will rise once again and GPU price might increase again, I believe the fear of Ethereum 2.0 is why many are getting out of the games right now.
Now miners do not buy a lot of video cards, because the payback period for equipment is long and there are risks of the end of Ethereum mining. If Ethereum costs more than $5,000, demand may increase. But miners with expensive electricity are forced to leave.
3125  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Great price for rx580 on: March 17, 2022, 09:51:11 AM
I did my own research which says that rx580 use 120watt from the wall, this is high power consumption just for 30MH, use that money to buy p106-100, gtx1060, gtx1660, these are the lowest cards that you can find your same price as rx580 and they consume less power.
p106-100, gtx1060 consume 90-100 watts at a hash rate of 23-25 megahash. The closer to 25 megahash, the more power limit you need to set. p106-100 is a very old video card for mining. The GTX 1660 Super and GTX 1660 Ti give 27-29 megahash at 90 watts, but the GTX 1660 will give you the same 23-25 megahash.
Which type of gtx 1660 super you referring to? I have two of those cards and with Trex miner absolute core clock i'm only using 60watts and on wall measure it's 80watts also this card does 31.5MH it has a hynix memory.
For profit calculations, we use average values of 29 megahash and 90 watts. Even 5 identical video cards may not always mine with the same settings. But if your video cards operate at 80 watts and 31.5 megahash, then this is an excellent result.
3126  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Future of ETH mining on: March 17, 2022, 09:46:03 AM
76% of the mining in the world is in Ethereum according to the hiveos statistics. If Ethereum was moving over to POS overnight, miners will need to move over to the smaller coins and crush the profitabillity. A profit decline of at least 3/4 overnight, but probobly more like 7/8

If all miners switch to other coins, then only miners with free electricity will profit. The rest of the miners' electricity bills will exceed the profit. Have you heard anything about a new coin that will replace Ethereum?
3127  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Theoretical question on: March 16, 2022, 01:16:38 PM

alucard20724 thanks for the link, it's really a useful tool. What can you say about the accuracy of this calculator? Did you test it?
https://whattomine.com/gpus
Check your results with this calculator. And we all understand that if Ethereum mining ends, then 5 dollars a day will be very difficult to earn if you have 5 video cards. The Rx580 can be found newer than the old GTX 1060.

This is a modern analogue, but it is expensive.
RYZEN 9 5950X
https://www.amd.com/en/products/cpu/amd-ryzen-9-5950x
Where I'm from, Ryzen 3000 are hard to find and more expensive and Ryzen 5000 are cheaper and in stock everywhere.
RYZEN 9 3950X is an old model and it might be better to look for it on ebay. But you must understand that the payback of your computer will be 3-5 years or more. Therefore, I have a negative attitude towards investing in mining on processors.

A very important event will be how the testnet works. Like all miners, I want to mine ethereum for as long as possible. In any news channel about mining, news about ETH is published first.

Is there any old ASIc miner either for BTC, Litecoin or other that's still profitable today? The ones I saw are only good for those that have free electricity, I'm asking on behalf of a friend who seems to have interest in ASICS over GPUs, believe me I've tried talking him out of ASICS.

Let him do his own research and make his own decisions, he's just looking for a way to shift blame if it
doesn't work out.

But seriously does anyone really "ask for a friend", and if they are actually asking for a friend why is it always
necessary to say so? A question is a question, it doesn't matter who's asking it or for whom.
What's wrong about asking on behalf of a friend? I've knew about crypto mining for some time already and this friend is trying to say that someone is getting better profit with ASIC mining which I don't believe, bringing this question to the forum can enlighten me more if I was wrong, maybe there is actually better ASIC miners out there?
You are right to ask for advice. It's free Smiley I also gave mining advice to my friends, but then they started blaming me for their mistakes. If your friends are idiots in IT, and you want to be friends with them further, then it is better to refrain from advice and help for them.

Is it true that some power supply for PC takes more watts from the wall due to poorly built? If yes then how can one detect this power supply when shopping for one? Any identification?
If energy saving is very important to you, then buy power supplies with a big warranty, for example, 7-10 years. They are assembled from high-quality components, for example, the cosair 1000 series. Do not overpay for the titanium version, gold and platinum are very good power supplies.

I'm having a funny issue with my rig, every time turn on the rig it will load hiveOS list the graphic cards like it wants to start mining but will shut down and reboot itself and start working normal, single shut down before mining starts what's causing this?
I didn’t understand how many seconds does the mining farm reboot after turning it on?
I would try to turn on the mining farm with only 1 video card, because it looks like a problem with the power supply. But it can be any inconspicuous thing that is not immediately visible. Check the cables and pins on the motherboard
3136  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I hate risers and I want to stop using them on: March 16, 2022, 12:02:22 PM
I think risers have too much problems, you use them for a week then one GPU go offline, you set it well again the next few days the same thing happen and some times it can work perfectly for a month, aren't there any motherboard with 16x slots only?.
I have been using raisers for over 5 years. Perhaps you bought low-quality raisers. Better try other models of raisers. In your case, additional costs will be required for the purchase of new motherboards and the possible replacement of power supplies due to the lack of the necessary connectors.
3137  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Server cases vs open air frames on: March 13, 2022, 10:48:26 AM
I like server cases because they are more protective from dusts and mistakes from people around you (family).. I always hated them until a friend build his miners with server cases and opened one for me to take a look inside, the GPUs are almost dust free compare to mine that's open air frame.
It's not a problem. Onin once a year you take the farm outside and blow it with a special compressor from aliexpress, which costs $20. Cleaning filters on server cases is a big problem. But you will not be able to install hot RTX 3080 and 3090 graphics cards in open cases, because there will be problems with lowering the hashrate.

False, i have 3080 Ti rigs working perfect on open cases, If you want use a octominer for 3090 or 3080 ti you waste a lot of space becuase you need a octominer x12 for only 6 cards, the space is too little inside and even with the fans working as ASICMINERS (with the high sound) they cant cool the cards, thats why you need put max 6 cards...
Ok, how do you cool your graphics cards in the summer? Even if you install video cards at a distance of 20 centimeters from each other in an open case, you will still have problems with overheating. Therefore, I will not believe that you do not use additional cooling.

Almost all open air rigs have fans that push the air to the front... what you do with that hot air is your design. I have 6 exaust 12 inch inline fans AC Infinity CLOUDLINE S12 to puch the air outside for example.
Very expensive solution
https://www.acinfinity.com/hvac-home-ventilation/inline-duct-fan-systems/cloudline-s12-quiet-inline-duct-fan-system-with-speed-controller-12-inch/
That's why I don't like 3090 or 3080 series

Ok, how do you cool your graphics cards in the summer?

Less mechanical assistance is required with open air rigs in a well ventilated room.
A simple box fan works great.
A well-ventilated room is not enough for my comrades in the summer, some video cards still overheat. I look for other people's experience, and for 3090 or 3080 series miners try to buy closed cases, because it's cheaper than doing good ventilation

When people ask me about mining, I suggest everyone learn how to use the miner's calculator.
Introduce your friend to this data.

If he wants to try mining as a hobby, then let him buy Antminer S9. This is the most maintainable ASIC.
