Oh no, they are going to use this computer, In Space?

3142  Economy / Services / Re: Hire a troll on: June 22, 2013, 04:18:54 PM
I offer my trolling services.

Do you want to make some users rage? Reveal their dark/hideous side? Have some fun? Do you have no time to reply, yet have a hard time resisting duty calls?

Price: 0.02 BTC per post, i.e. 1 BTC gives you 50 posts. I also accept LTC, at 1 LTC per post.

Skills:
I have 10+ years experience trolling forums and have been banned in most. I know how moderators think (and have been part of moderator teams, though I really dislike the job), so I can play with the rules if I want to. I'm used to threats.
I have an extensively tweaked browser which allows me to be faster than most.
Languages: English, French

Terms:
  • If I get banned before some interesting results you still have to pay but it will be 0.01 BTC per post
  • I reserve the right to use another identity, unless I really like your idea
  • I reserve the right to refuse offers though I have little interest for political correctness
  • I will only take only one troll job at a time

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you can't do that.

The business plan is genius to be honest, but I can't see this going over well.
3143  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: YaCoin has a wallet.dat stealer in it! Don't download on: June 22, 2013, 03:56:13 AM
If anyone has any hard evidence of a wallet stealer in the Yacoin client, please let me know via pm, or something of the sorts. I've seen this rumor going around for weeks if not months now, and so far everything has been inconclusive. I'm not saying it does or doesn't, I'm just saying that I've seen this sort of thread more than a few times, and have been unable to figure out if its some sort of ongoing joke, or if it is real.

3145  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Let's Build a Town, Bitcoin Town on: June 21, 2013, 04:33:30 PM
I like the idea, but living on ships might be too costly.

Maybe we could pool the money and buy the whole country of Nauru Smiley

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nauru

Country is broke...we might get a good deal Smiley

I like the idea of just buying a broke country, that way Bitcoinville would actually be represented by the UN etc. I vote we just buy Greece. I'm sure we could pull together the... what, 100 BTC it would cost? But yeah, trying to buy land in the U.S, and then succeed... good luck with that one.

Although the whole idea is a little bit crazy. Imagine trying to buy a city with $100 bills. Even brief cases full of $100 bills. The cost to run a town wouldn't be overly unmanageable, many wealthy people essentially own entire towns, but you are talking about running a country, that's quite a bit different. You would have to figure out medical, social security, social and world policy, etc.
3146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Buying SBC for GLD on: June 18, 2013, 06:40:58 PM
Everyone keep in mind, this thread is not about whether or not a coin is successful, if you aren't interested in trading, or asking a question about trading, etc, your comments are not welcomed here. At the request of many, I will be cleaning up this thread, those who were way off topic, you know who you are, and please try and refrain from doing so in the future.
3147  Other / Meta / Re: Are the mods getting paid from this forum? on: June 17, 2013, 04:31:03 AM
Honestly, I wouldn't call it "getting paid to moderate" the majority of the moderators get like $10-20 in Bitcoins per month, its more of a tip than an official paycheck. Of course the people like Theymos that spend 169 hours per week working get paid more, but its far from an organized business where you get paid an hourly wage, or salary. Its like, do you tell the IRS about the $20 you spend per month paying the neighbor boy to mow your grass? Probably not, because its fairly insignificant. Its more of a thank you for helping out, and allows a few mods to spend the bitcoins on an indulgence that they wouldn't normally tap their savings for.
3148  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MtGox login disabled.... new site coming.... Twitter mentions LTC & other coins. on: June 17, 2013, 12:20:10 AM
ALL MY POSTS ARE BEING DELETED FROM HERE   Huh

See what I mean people, stay far away from koolio, he is the biggest butthurt child on this forum. Stay clear of btc-e until he gets off mod status there too.

Koolio is not a mod here, and cannot delete your posts, I on the other hand can. Lets just make this clear everyone, please keep your BTC-E Dramas on BTC-E. If Koolio banned you on BTC-E, that does not give you the right to spam his threads here. Bitcointalk is not affiliated with BTC-E, and the fact that BTC-E picks its chat moderators from its userbase is not our or anyone else's concern. If you have a problem with Koolio for his moderating on BTC-E, like I said, keep it on BTC-E.
3149  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Noirbits Launched!!!!! on: June 16, 2013, 09:38:44 PM
looks like a pre-mine SCAM to me . Be Careful with this one

might have a wallet stealer

Could you elaborate on why you think there was a premine or why you think there is a wallet stealer? I mean, I read through and didn't find anything fishy, but if you are seeing something no one else is, please do elaborate. But, if there is actually no evidence to your claims, everyone would appreciate it if you would stop. You have been reported many many times in this thread, but I'd be happy to allow you a chance to explain your earlier posts. It has happened before where one guy was "annoying" everyone else, but they were right.
3150  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Get Hazard Banned! [POLL] on: June 02, 2013, 02:27:39 AM
What I don't get is the mod leave his posts with questionable content untouched while removing several of my rather witty replies. Banning the guy will achieve nothing, heck he might be the mod.

Teehee

Anyway, first off, the problem is, until recently, there weren't new coins being made nearly as frequently, so there is no precedent to set what is acceptable, and what isn't. As of now, there really aren't any rules against making new coins, although there may be some changes fairly soon. Second, as much as people are complaining, I don't think I've seen a single report against Hazard (not that everyone should start reporting everything he says to make a point. Seriously, dont)

3151  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: *** KOOLIO'S ALL COIN ESCROW SERVICE *** [1 - 3% FEE] on: June 02, 2013, 02:14:27 AM
Well, I'm sure there are times when people have pushed him a little too far, and he has snapped. Everyone has those times, you just hope no one was around to see it, or there wasn't any record. I've had times where I was about to send incredibly rude pms to people who have sent me some ridiculous requests. But so far, I've been lucky enough to control myself, and decide to facepalm and say rude things in person, rather than send them, where there would be a lasting legacy.

I will admit, I have goofed around more that I probably should have in the BTC-E chat before, because I was a fan of the fact that the chat would disappear after a few minutes (until that damn chat log archive) so I have a personal rule that I apply when dealing with people, I don't take into account anything that has ever been said or done in that box, because it brings out the worst in people.

If the worst you can say about Koolio is that he has made some bad decisions regarding his behavior, at least think back to the situation, and see if it was at least possibly warranted. And decide for yourself whether that effects his financial reliability or not.

Of course, I'm partially speaking as a friend of Koolio, but at the same time, to balance that out, as with any new business, be careful with your money however you see fit.
3152  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [LTC] Litecoin Core Development Fundraising on: June 02, 2013, 01:42:13 AM
This thread is stickied? Why? Will every alt coin get a sticky if they make a development fundraising request? If not, why is a moderator deciding which coin who they may have a personal stake in is "worthy" of having a sticky?

I actually hold LTC.

I stickied it, because they asked nicely. I tend to sticky anything that is somewhat important temporarily of course, I'm using my own discretion as to what is important, but if you have noticed, I've stickied about 10 different threads for different coin types. I guess I gauge importance by
1) Effect on users if it is not seen
2) Will it create any disruption if it is stickied
3) Was the request a, "could you please sticky this because..." or was it a, "hey mang, sticky this ploxorz"

and again, my own digression. It will be unstickied sooner or later, so relax, I'd do it for whatever coin or coins you are supporting as well.

Also, by the way, the thread was unstickied by request of the person who requested it be stickied in the first place. Technically, I could really be as biased towards any coin as I wished, as there aren't really any rules expressed by the forums saying otherwise. But, I feel I'm a reasonably fair guy so I give every coin a fair enough chance, as long as it isn't a secret wallet stealer or something like that.
3153  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Coinversation.org a new alt currency forum on: May 25, 2013, 06:20:13 PM
alrighty, I believe the issues are stemming from the hosting. Working on fixing that now.
3154  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Coinversation.org a new alt currency forum on: May 25, 2013, 06:08:47 PM
Looks like it was a temporary abnormality. If it happens again, I'll have another shot to fix it, but as of now, no idea what happened, and it seems the issue has fixed itself?
3155  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Coinversation.org a new alt currency forum on: May 25, 2013, 05:57:09 PM
Anyone else having issues?

Baritus, I've checked the error logs, and I'm not finding anything yet. Checking to see if the server itself is being an issue.
3156  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Coinversation.org a new alt currency forum on: May 25, 2013, 05:39:08 PM
Hey,

I could not reply. Everything works fine until I press the send button, then it starts loading and nothing happens.

Also, I'm pretty sure the CAPTCHA I got this time is the same as the first.

Ok, could you try again?

Ok, thanks for all of your help. Hopefully I can get everything squared away quickly.

Additionally, the following error occured when I tried to create a new post in the Unlisted section:

Code:
Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /ctpwm/index.php on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Ok, looking into it now.

Thanks
3159  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Coinversation.org a new alt currency forum on: May 25, 2013, 05:14:37 PM
Thank you.

I'm testing it out. I tried sending a PM and received a server not found error.

Thanks for giving it a try. Did you fill in the captcha? Until you have posted 5 times, it will require you to enter a captcha to post or pm.

Trying to cut back on advertisers and spam any way we can.
3160  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [ANN] Coinversation.org a new alt currency forum on: May 25, 2013, 05:06:08 PM
I'd like to announce a new forum designed for the Alt coin community, www.coinversation.org. It is intended to be a slightly more structured, but a more fluid forum for all of the emerging currencies.

First off I'd like to note, that I have properly informed, and discussed the site with Theymos, making sure there is no conflict of interest in serving as a moderator here, and creating a forum to work next to Bitcointalk. Second, this will be treated as a regular thread, no special privileges will be had because I serve as a moderator to this board.

Coinversation.org is a traditional forum that uses SMF, but with a few features that set it apart. It is open to adding more boards to accommodate the expanding coin scene (please check our coin listing standards on the Info board). We will also be more strict on the intercoin fighting. We realize that people like the drama sometimes, and some are just confrontational people, so we have a separate area for people to complain about whatever they want to their heart's content, without bothering forum members who are not interested in partaking. We are also creating an initiative to cut out scammers. We are aware that we can't get rid of the threat all together, but we are doing our best by fast forwarding the process to applying scammer tags to members with appropriate evidence against them, and working on an integrated feedback system. This will not completely erase the threat, so please, as always use the discretion that you have learned, but we hope that it will help. We have eliminated newbie jail, instead requiring email verification, and users to enter a captcha for their first five posts, until they become a Pico Member. This is subject to change, as we won't know completely how effective it in reducing advertisers and bots until the site is operational, but we believe that this is the best method until proven wrong.

As for staff, I know all of our admins and moderators personally. That means, greater accountability. If they do something wrong, I can physically smack them around, so there is less possibility for user abuse.

And lastly, the site is still very primitive. As it is now, the awe inspiring features are at a minimum, but we are working on them. In the state it is at now, it should be fully functional, besides a few bugs that I'm sure will pop up (but be fixed promptly) so if you want to give the forums a shot, check it out, suggest features, and help us give the community a great place to be.

Important:

be sure to read the threads inside of the "info and forum policies" board, found here http://coinversation.org/ctpwm/index.php?board=5.0 . It highlights a few policies to clarify what I said in this thread.

and I can't stress it enough, please use a different password on coinversation than you use here. I would not like anyone's security to be compromised for any reason. By having a different password, it just helps in general.

Be aware, this is the first public test, features may be buggy while we get things straightened out. We have had functionality to a acceptable level with a handful of members, but this is our first public release.

Feel free to post any comments, questions, or concerns here, and I will try to address them, or if I don't have an answer, accommodate them.
