3161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How many Feathercoins were mined the first day (24 hours) 1 million or 2 million on: April 27, 2013, 05:47:30 AM
Three days vs zero days, a lot of people knew about cryptos by now, even I knew about, and I was ready and prepared, and lurked in this forum for quite some time before jumping onto FC and mining it, hence a couple thousands of coins from 200kh off a laptop gpu. A lot of people had their fair chance to browse this forum everyday, if they didnt decide to have their mining stuff ready like I did, then too bad for them. I felt that way when i first saw bitcoins, now, i learned from that mistake.

You just don't get what has made Bitcoin so wildly popular. It was fair... it was announced months before the genesis block was mined.

So you think something like Feathercoin that people announce and are mining the very second they announce it will compete with such a fair release as Bitcoin, and on a lesser degree Litecoin?

That's just ridiculous... I wasn't around for either Bitcoin or Litecoin's inception, but they are obviously two of the most fairest releases of cryptocoins in history.

I don't get behind currencies just because I want to be an early adopter. I get behind currencies because I see a future in them. For me to see this, it takes development, projects, a large community of users, a fair release, etc.... I am not a sheep, I do not blindly follow and mine useless crap coins just to become an early adopter.
3162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How many Feathercoins were mined the first day (24 hours) 1 million or 2 million on: April 27, 2013, 05:41:51 AM
Your logic is so far off base, I don't know where to start.  3 days notice give every nerd with a mining rig the opportunity to essentially rape it from day 1.  I don't have a mining rig, I happened to stumble upon it from a comment in BTC-e and bought my fair share.  Too many here feel they are entitled because they happen to sit around all day and post in the forums. The coin was released, a community built around it, get over it.

You don't get my point... announcing it a few days ahead of time gives "people that feel entitled because they happen to sit around all day and post in the forums" less power and distributes the coins more evenly to regular users...

Too bad you don't have a mining rig... that's not our fault. Are we supposed to wait until we get notice from you to launch any new cryptocurrency?

PS: I wasn't around for more than half a year after Litecoin was released... I'm not complaining. I know the initial release was fair, so I'm happy with it. Bitcoin release was even more fair than Litecoin, being announced months before the genesis block was mined.
3163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How many Feathercoins were mined the first day (24 hours) 1 million or 2 million on: April 27, 2013, 05:34:46 AM
You want to talk fair? Three days isnt enough for some people that didnt have their mining stuff ready yet. For some, it took weeks, for some they had to wait for parts, etc.

Three days is better than the Zero days Feathercoin provided........

People are always just now finding out about crypto currency and buying/waiting on hardware. I'm talking about people already in the cryptocoin community and ready and willing to accept new currencies.

That is just not a good way to start off.... hey by the way guys, I just started a new currency... yeah I might be mining the heck out of it as I type this post, but who cares... it's fair!
3164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How many Feathercoins were mined the first day (24 hours) 1 million or 2 million on: April 27, 2013, 05:25:08 AM
Exactly... Litecoin was announced 3 days ahead of time for everyone to test their mining settings on the Litecoin testnet before actually launching the coin. There were a lot more people mining it from its inception, making it more evenly distributed.

Feathercoin gets announced and people immediately start mining it and/or were ready to go right from the OP. Whereas others don't see it for a day or two, or have trouble setting up their configs, etc..

Litecoin's release was much fairer than Feathercoin's release. If a new cryptocurrency wants to make it nowadays, they must follow the same standards as Litecoin and Bitcoin have followed as far as giving public notice before actually launching the chain.
3165  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: bfl shipped "delivered" 2013/3/31 on: April 27, 2013, 05:15:01 AM
I see no reason to believe it won't work. They have the chips. They have tested the chips. They know what part of the board needed to be redesigned based on that testing.

If they go real quiet over this weekend and early next week, we will know that their new PCB is a dud- if not they will be showing off specs and pics... And yes I think it is a possibility... if it isn't obvious to you yet, these guys have no idea what they're doing.

We will know soon enough.
3166  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL ASIC STATUS Shipped on: April 27, 2013, 04:58:06 AM
New single case

That's a fancy box of fans they've got there.

In all seriousness, I think it's just a box of fans. There isn't even a power brick plugged into it.
3167  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: bfl shipped "delivered" 2013/3/31 on: April 27, 2013, 03:56:29 AM
Just because they are being shipped a new PCB, it doesn't mean it will work like they want it to. The last one didn't..

Also, why must you put 5 spaces in between certain parts of your posts?!? Sorry, I am somewhat of a nitpicker!
3168  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Wired Magazine gets a Jalapeņo on: April 26, 2013, 10:31:37 PM
"The company says that its systems will continue to trickle out, with another 75 to 150 shipping in the next few weeks."

LOL- not quite 400/day. I called BS on the 400 a day number a long time ago. Whether they will be able to obtain this number eventually remains to be seen, but for now they are still failing big time.

I'd go so far as to wager that the Avalon chips I'm ordering through a group buy (that haven't even been ordered yet) will be made into an ASIC and hashing in my possession before any BFL order that was made this month. If anyone wants to take me up on this bet, let me know! I like free money!  Wink
3169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Pirate Bay now accepts Litecoin donations on: April 26, 2013, 10:10:20 PM
Hmmm... The Pirate Bay was compromised a few years ago.

Feds seized the individuals and their servers... I find it odd that the site is still in operation.
Call me paranoid......

A. I'm sure they had backups of all servers.
B. I'm sure one of their employees that didn't get busted was well versed in running the site and saw how much money they were raking in and decided to continue it on their own. Or maybe the old owners are still calling the shots from jail like you see on TV!  Cheesy Grin
3170  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [WTB] Website Design & Development (Litecoin payment) on: April 26, 2013, 06:22:05 AM
Ah.. I'm still up..

What a mess, I feel bad for creating a dispute. Just settle down guys.. there will be other projects to develop all the time around here. People are always asking for web development, etc. Smiley

I will finish this in PMs as to not cause any more drama.

No need to argue.

Thanks again,

Ch
3171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [WTB] Website Design & Development (Litecoin payment) on: April 26, 2013, 04:16:58 AM
Gweedo,

Perhaps Terk explained himself better and I was willing to pay more because he has 15 years experience in web development.

I am willing to reconsider though, 12 BTC does sound better than 15 BTC, no offense Terk. Also, gweedo has experience integrating LTC into e-commerce which is nice.

Give me a night to sleep on it- it's getting late anyways and I've gotta work in the AM.

Thank you both for your time and sorry for not being so professional.
3172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [WTB] Website Design & Development (Litecoin payment) on: April 26, 2013, 03:43:46 AM
I'm also available, see my post in my signature.

Nice to see that you have the project development under way before asking for a site done. Sounds like an interesting project too, good luck Smiley

Oh wow, I just saw this. Sorry buddy, I would have given you a chance to give a bid. I dunno how I missed your post earlier.  Sad

If Terk backs out, I will contact you for a bid and choose between you and Gweedo.

Thanks for your interest Smiley
3173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [WTB] Website Design & Development (Litecoin payment) on: April 26, 2013, 03:37:18 AM
And of course we'll be loading the physical litecoins as well. The transaction will work more or less like this:

1. We generate a new litecoin address for each order placed.
2. User pays to that address.
3. Once we receive user payment, we immediately send these LTC to multiple addresses: one is your address to send fixed per-coin cost, shipping costs, etc. Then there are physical litecoin addresses where we load funds for all coins that user ordered.

The goal is to keep litecoin balance within the app for as short as possible to eliminate losses in case someone hacked into your server, etc. Your address for coin/shipping costs can and should be a cold wallet address. Also, the app should be loaded only with public addresses of physical litecoins, so that the app will never have access to funds deposited into the coins and the coins will be safe even if everything is hacked (that is, you'll get the app secure, but there are thousands of things that can be hacked on a server - as we could read in so many places in recent days - so better safe than sorry).

My hourly rate is 0.4-0.5 BTC or we can agree for 15 BTC for the whole app. That includes very polished product as I'm very detail-oriented. I think it will take me more than 30 hours, but I will learn new things by the way, so I can work for a fixed fee (which I haven't done for six years;-)). Plus I would love to receive couple of these nice 1 LTC coins to give away to friends and spread the word about cryptocurrencies by the way :-)

Thanks for the detail... I think I am going to give you a shot. You seem like a smart guy and I like the way you explained everything to me. Plus... ya gotta start somewhere, I'd like to see more developers around that know how to do these things for the good of crypto coins.  Smiley

I can agree to 15 BTC through escrow with the requirement that you complete all features in the OP including the "bonus features".

PS to everyone: Private keys to the physical Litecoins themselves will never be shared to ANYONE but me and my record of them will be destroyed when the coins are made. Of course any list of addresses that I get to a web developer will have the private keys redacted.
3174  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BTC 'rs treat alts almost like Gov Fiat treat BTC....very funny! on: April 26, 2013, 03:16:46 AM
...

But Altcoiners are no different: Those who already have Litecoin don't want any competition (from Feathercoiners)  Wink

+1 this^

Litecoin is much more developed than Feathercoin, I'm not sure you can call it competition yet... It's like comparing a riding lawn mower to a motorless push mower.

Maybe as time goes on it can catch up or something, but it's not going to happen in the near future unless you pay an army of programmers to innovate random sites and services for Feathercoins.

Bitcoin is much more developed than Litecoin, but Litecoin has a lot of accepting sites and services as well.. I can count the number of Feathercoin accepting sites on 2 fingers.
3175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [WTB] Website Design & Development (Litecoin payment) on: April 26, 2013, 03:08:31 AM
Yeah I would just do a custom solution because the features and bonus features would be easier to create with a custom solution. I can really drill down to what you specifically want.

Ok cool! I'm guessing you have integrated LTC into ecommerce before?? I've seen you around since.. forever.  Smiley

Thanks for your bid, I'm going to give Terk a chance to provide a bid though (to be fair since he was first.)
3176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC FPGA discussion! on: April 26, 2013, 02:56:04 AM
Judging by this thread and the other LTC fpga thread, whoever makes the first $crypt fpga is going to be rich.

Good luck Laseek and Jasinlee, I'm pulling for you guys!  Smiley
3177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [WTB] Website Design & Development (Litecoin payment) on: April 26, 2013, 02:51:07 AM
I can do this for 12 BTCs.

Qweedo, could you explain how you'd integrate LTC? Through plugin or custom solution?

I am probably more interested in a custom solution like Terk has proposed. I have messed around with open cart et al, and I agree they are much more complex with more features than I need.

Terk, can you provide a bid or an hourly rate?

Thanks guys  Smiley

https://github.com/dasher/OpenCart_Litecoin

This is the plugin that I've seen most sites that accept LTC use.. it is for OpenCart.

It could make the Litecoin acceptance part easy. Smiley

EDIT:

You could possibly beta test with these guys: https://forum.litecoin.net/index.php/topic,1139.0.html

3179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [WTB] Website Design & Development (Litecoin payment) on: April 26, 2013, 02:04:48 AM
I'm a web developer with 15 years experience and I'd love to work on some BTC/LTC related project (besides my own project which I do in my spare time), but I am new to the forum so I don't meet all your criteria. I am posting though just in case.

Thanks for your interest.

Being new doesn't matter so much, it's OK. It sounds like you are an experienced developer, but do you have any experience with Bitcoin/Litecoin integration?

Would you be using a shopping cart software suite, or making a simple custom solution?

I know people have provided open source plugins that are floating around on the litecoin forums... I think for OpenCart, Woocommerce, and maybe WordPress. Perhaps this could give you some direction if you've never integrated Litecoin payments.
