3181  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Is double spending a threat to bitcoin adoption growth? on: September 18, 2021, 07:26:53 PM
Most of you have probably heard the term double spending quite often and even discussed it quite often, so maybe I won't explain in detail anymore or you can read more here. So far, the RBF feature shared by several bitcoin wallet, both bitcoin core and electrum as well as many other wallet allows senders to double-spending transaction. This can trigger fraud if the recipient of the transaction does not have sufficient understanding of how to prevent it.

So now that bitcoin has been legalized in several countries as legal tender, do you think this double spending can prevent bitcoin from being used by many as a secure mean of payment so that adoption rates slow down?

I'd like to hear some of your thoughts on this.

3182  Economy / Economics / Re: Cryptocurrency: The Future of Finance in a New World Order? on: September 18, 2021, 06:57:46 PM
Going totally cashless and living on just digital wallets will take a very long time to happen because it's need some serious work for setting many issues regarding transactions fees and system errors which encourage peoples to use this.
If this technology is able to survive for the next 30-50 years, then the next generation will get used to all-digital payments. You can imagine how the development of the fiat payment system from previously not digital to digital can even be used anytime via your mobile phone now. Payment systems with bitcoin will also be more established in the next 10 to 30 years so that the next generation will use them more. For now, some people in several countries that legalize bitcoin as a mean of payment can already pay for coffee with bitcoin via the lightning network. That technology will help small transactions with lightning speed.
3183  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies Work To Learn And Not To Earn. on: September 18, 2021, 06:03:35 PM
Everybody has a chance to earn money, but it will be better to start with learning in order to know and understand what to do.
Another useful piece of advice is to let your knowledge help you make money. This mean acquiring knowledge is the main priority so that money will be made by it. Like a student, they need a minimum of 12-16 years to study and earn a bachelor's degree before they start working to make money. If this is implemented by many newbies, maybe spammers will be lower in the future. But it really depend on who referred them here because if someone come because their friend is making money, then he or she will also be interested in making it from scratch. But if he comes because he want to know a lot about bitcoin, then he will seek his knowledge.
3184  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How does the scammer companies earn through bitcoin ? on: September 18, 2021, 05:20:08 PM
The idea that scammers earn money with bitcoin is just utter hogwash.  Criminals will find ways to scam using any means of value they can.
The reason you’re hearing about scammers using bitcoin now is just a testament to how many people are waking up to the value of Bitcoin rising in popularity.
Bitcoin is just a currency that is scapegoated by those who do not understand what this currency really is. All valuable asset will suffer the same and this is just an option used by scammers to profit from asset that have value. I think those people have the wrong understanding about bitcoin all along if they think bitcoin has scammed them because of ponzi investment and other scams.
3185  Other / Meta / Re: Delete/Merit button on: September 17, 2021, 08:45:51 PM
Merit buttons and a report to moderator button may be required by users who have a habit of reviewing other users' posts for the purpose of deleting or sending merit. I'm not used to doing it that way as I prefer to check it thread to thread so I can actually tell if the post was constructive enough or off topic.

So it probably won't be added as the suggestion seem to have been covered here before. I like to do it as I have always done so far in terms of sending merit and also reporting posts to moderators. So imo the button is not really needed so until now theymos have not approved it.
3186  Economy / Economics / Re: Covid-19 vaccination becoming a criteria to live in the world on: September 17, 2021, 06:57:39 PM
Unfortunately there are way too many people who are dumb enough to think that they are actually the smart ones. That's not a joke, people who do not get vaccination believes that they are the smart people. Because, we get vaccinated and "do not ask any questions about it", they assume that we did absolutely zero research about it and just accepted it because government told us to get it, they do not realize that we did our research and found it very beneficial to get it.

Hence, because they do not get it and because so many people do get it, they assume that they are the smart ones who realize what's wrong. In reality they do not realize they are the idiots who cause the world to still be in this mess, if they weren't acting like this then the world would become a good place by now.
People who fear receiving doses of vaccines are those who believe in the frightening effects of vaccines in the short and long term. The Covid-19 vaccine is still in the pilot stage and its effectiveness as a prevention of viral infection and also as a chain breaker may have varying success rates depending on the type of drug used. The most feared short term effect of vaccines is sudden death and that is the reason most people refuse to be vaccinated.

However, in my opinion, there are still cases of transmission for those who receive the full dose if they are more often exposed to people with covid so that the dose obtained cannot make their body 100% immune to the virus. Recipients of the vaccine dose can still spread the virus if they don't take care of their bodies and clothes. Vaccines will only reduce the rate of transmission of the virus and will not eliminate the virus forever. So it's up to them whether they want to accept it or not because human rights also need to be considered. Never force a frightened person, they may be more susceptible to short term effects because of their fear. But let them take it when they need it because the government is starting to limit the access of people who do not receive a dose of vaccine to get public services in government institutions.
3187  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let's Say Bitcoin is scam on: September 17, 2021, 06:30:45 PM
If someone says bitcoin is a scam right now, you can be sure that person has never known about bitcoin or has invested in bitcoin but has suffered huge losses.
Bitcoin or cryptocurrency has a big risk, therefore investing in Bitcoin must have basic understanding and knowledge about how to manage assets in crypto.
Everything can be a scam, depending on how they view it.
Bitcoin has never fooled anyone and has never scam anyone, but people can use bitcoin to fool others and deceive others in various ways. This is tantamount to abuse of bitcoin in illegal activities and ponzi investments. It is unnatural to blame bitcoin as an asset that should be held responsible for the lack of user knowledge and abuse by scammers. If anyone says it's a scam, then they really don't understand this technology properly. If there are, don't feed them.
3188  Economy / Economics / Re: El Salvador Bitcoin payment option on: September 16, 2021, 05:28:18 PM
If only the adoption of bitcoin as a legal tender did not happen in a rush making the preparation too short, then maybe all the citizens might have been fully educated about bitcoin. I guess all these negative things that happen are just a manifestation of lack of education on bitcoin.
The same thing occurred to me about the turmoil due to the seemingly hasty adoption of bitcoin by the government of El Salvador. People are still quite new to the technology that is in bitcoin as a currency and they need good knowledge before implementation has to be legalized. The government of El Salvador also wants to accelerate adoption by installing ATM machine in various places even though people do not have sufficient knowledge to use them. Obviously this provokes a negative reaction from people, especially if political issues are involved. This should serve as a lesson for other countries that want to adopt bitcoin. Everything takes time and a process so that people will be ready to accept and use it when the regulation is established as legal.
3189  Other / Meta / Re: Monthly Report Statistics on: September 16, 2021, 05:06:03 PM
And thank you to hilariousandco for the raw data, too.  I'd be interested in seeing something like a "top ten" reporter list to see who those members are who do the most reporting.  Theymos dumped that kind of data a couple of years ago but hasn't done it since.  I think I was on the list at the time, and even though I wouldn't expect to be on it now I'd still like to see who the most active reporters are.  Any chance that could happen?
One name that will definitely come up in my opinion if your request is accepted is actmyname. He consistently reports posts daily I guess and flags users who have 50+ good reports and blacklists them. The latest update to the activity report amounts to 6903 as of August 29 based on his post here. I don't know if he really does it non-stop every day or if it's the accumulation of numbers over the last few months. But he really is a spam hunter.  Cheesy
3190  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- Group Stage! on: September 16, 2021, 04:19:46 PM
Inter Milan is a strong team though. But Real Madrid's luck against them is always good. In the last 5 meetings, Real Madrid has won 4 matches. The Inter Milan team got its last win against Real Madrid in 2014. Milan has lost all their subsequent matches. I think Real Madrid will win the home match too. Because Real Madrid is always the strongest team in the home match.
Real Madrid is always the favorite team to reach the Champions League final every season. No other team has won the title 3 times in a row except Real Madrid. They are strong and have been the best contestants in the history of the champions league. But after Ronaldo's move, they always fought to reach the final but failed so I doubt this season they will reach the final. Real Madrid won a tough game yesterday against Inter. But 1 goal is enough to secure 3 points.
3191  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- Group Stage! on: September 15, 2021, 09:05:03 PM
And you can believe the scoreline stays same up to this moment. I mean, you can expect this kind of scoreline from Atletico Madrid,  not because they aren't capable of defeating Porto but this guys always have a draw tendency about there game plans but, not PSG and Real Madrid. For sure Inter is a hard nut to crack but not so hard for a team like Real Madrid. PSG is one team that is surprising me the most, with all that squad and yet nothing to show for it over a team like Club Brugge. It's amazing, there getting to show there loopholes and I'm sure teams are taking notes.
I'm not surprised why PSG didn't manage to score in this match more than 1. Messi didn't improve during the second half and he didn't get many balls up front, I only saw him having one chance and saved by the Brugge goalkeeper. PSG's failure to score can't actually be interpreted as one of their weaknesses, but look how organized the defense system of a team like Brugge is. They managed to hold PSG to a draw and were also quite troublesome for the PSG defense. I actually saw Messi and all PSG players very frustrated throughout the second half.
3192  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- Group Stage! on: September 15, 2021, 08:09:07 PM
it's a little funny to see a team with a pool of expensive players (PSG) can't add another goal yet....if in the second half PSG were held to a draw till match end by Brugge then it would really hurt my heart so bad.
Not funny if you actually watch the game. Club Brugge played quite well and quite often troubled the PSG defense. If PSG let their guard down, I'm sure Brugge will score again in the second half. I'm not going to say that PSG's failure to score a lot of goals in a game is funny, we have to judge and watch the game so we don't underestimate a team that isn't even seeded in the Champions League.

First half results:
Brugge 1 vs 1 PSG
Man. City 3 vs 1 Leipzig
Atletico Madrid 0 vs 0 Porto
Liverpool 1 vs 2 AC Milan
Sporting CP 1 vs 3 Ajax
Inter 0 vs 0 Real Madrid

PSG, Liverpool, Inter will probably win in the second half. Atletico Madrid vs Porto will be a draw in my opinion. But whatever it is I really have to open a few tab to watch today's stream. PSG, Liverpool, Real Madrid were probably the most interesting in the second half. LOL
3193  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do you already noticed about the changing of identity verification of Binance ? on: September 15, 2021, 04:26:25 PM
Yes i have already seen about this notification.
They too notify me that do the verification and get 10 USDT instantly after verifying.
What will happen if we don’t verify the identity? I have currently 2500$ worth of BTC there at Binance.
Should I withdraw those before 19th ?
Or it should be fine? I haven’t done any KYC (except the email and phone number thing).
Waiting for some answers from someone trusted.
You can still make withdrawals even after October 19th. According to the published article, you will currently be limited to a number of things including withdrawals, order cancellations, position closing and redemption.

Source
Quote
Existing users who have not yet completed Intermediate Verification will have their account permissions temporarily changed to “Withdraw Only”, with services limited to withdrawal, order cancellation, position close, and redemption.

Because your KYC is still at the basic level, then you must verify to the intermediate level so that the withdrawal limit become bigger. For the basic level verification you can only withdraw 0.06 btc or in crypto, while the intermediate level you will be able to withdraw 100 btc per day or $50K per day in fiat.

If we make certain analysis of Bitcoin discussion section also we could easily see the post quality have been degraded like most of the members don't know what are they posting like if there is any rumour or fake news in the market then without any investigation or finding out the details they will create the thread and later on similar threads carry on with same information. But in past there were some good discussions carried out by members. But now it is changing.

So my main concern was that there are some positive and negative aspects that have changed on botcointalk forum over all these years.
There are millions of registered bitcointalk users but we can never get them all to post reasonable, constructive and quality things every time. The decline in the quality of posts is not only caused by the large number of newbie who do not have sufficient knowledge, we can still find more veteran members who also post the same thing regardless of the quality. Directing them to post quality things is a must in my opinion, it's an effort to improve the quality of the forum. But we're also not short on options to keep it clean as the report to moderator button is still pretty useful today. If warnings and input from forum contributors via replies or a thread are not heeded, then this button will provide extra benefits for all of us who care about forum cleanliness.

Two Italian teams, Inter Milan and AC Milan meet strong teams today, both of them are in a less than optimal position in the UCL, for Inter Milan, they are still in the process of adapting to a new coach, while for AC Milan, they will face Liverpool when their performance currently quite well after their last few games of the season getting a win. AC Milan is in the same condition, but this will be a game that requires quite a lot of mentality for the AC Milan players, because this is their first match after missing the UCL in recent seasons.
maslum, you are right. This is AC Milan's first match in the Champions League after a long absence. I doubt AC Milan will be able to win the game against Liverpool today because Liverpool have performed quite well in the UCL in recent seasons. I think Liverpool will win, but that doesn't mean AC Milan lose their chances. If Ibra plays, I will be happy if he scores. Liverpool 3 vs 2 AC Milan or maybe draw 1-1, that's my prediction.
3196  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- Group Stage! on: September 14, 2021, 09:10:30 PM
That's right, I agree. Messi is gone and Barcelona plays the first time in the Champions League without him, Griezmann and Pjanic are gone and the new transfers have not surprised me. What is Barcelona without Messi? That's exactly what we see today and it's not good. The players have to replace Messi and it's impossible. I also expect 2 more goals from Bayern.
And in the end my guess and your expectations are right. Barcelona lost 0-3 at home for the first game in the group. I think Koeman really has to take responsibility for Barcelona's defeat and lack of performance in the Champions League this time around. I know they don't have enough good players to play because of injuries, but some players who should have started earlier shouldn't have been in Koeman's plans today. Barcelona is quite ideal with a 4-3-3 formation and Koeman's experiment with 3-5-2 today really failed miserably in my opinion.

Munchen party at home Barca. Barca really weak, they were not able to make a goal.
I only watched for 45 minute in the first half, and I have to say Barcelona were really bad today. These statistics can explain it all. 0 shoots on target in 90 minute, that's really funny for a team like Barcelona.

3197  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- Group Stage! on: September 14, 2021, 07:59:37 PM
Barcelona vs Bayern Munchen is live now and meanwhile Barcelona have lose by 1 goal to Muller in the first half. I wasn't very interested in Barcelona today, they lost a lot of players in attack and wing position and they looked very weak in the first half. I don't like the 5 midfielders that Koeman used in this match because I don't think those 3 defenders will be able to withstand attacks when Bayern Munchen attack.

Lenglet, Umtiti, Dest, Coutinho looked decent enough to play from the start, N but Koeman still seems to want to experiment to have the best lineup by playing his 3 Dutch players together. I think Barcelona will lose by more than 2 goals today if they don't change their game in the second half.
3198  Economy / Speculation / Re: The arrival of new people in the world of cryptocurrency is really fun on: September 14, 2021, 07:52:46 AM
Don't talk as if this is the only forum that tackles about bitcoin  or crypto because there are people that I met who literally engaging in Crypto for long years now but has no Idea about Bitcointalk not until i mention this to them so it is not about this forum or other forum but on how they are engaging in crypto and how they are using it.

and also the arrival of New People in the world of Crypto is not arrival in Bitcointalk, but those who have been searching and learning about this time after time.
You are right, bitcointalk is not the only forum that discusses bitcoin because there are many other forum that discuss the same thing out there. But you need to know that bitcointalk is one of the largest bitcoin forum so far among other bitcoin forum which will be the most comprehensive forum among other forum. I agree that not all crypto and bitcoin lovers have 1 account in this forum especially if their interest in bitcoin is as a trading and investment asset. They can study elsewhere and that's not a problem for them.

For the record, I have some friends who are quite active as traders since 2017. They make profit through their trading activities but they don't have an account in this forum. They can learn from friend to friend who was also a trader before them, and I think they are fine without being active in this forum.

The arrival of new users in the forums and the crypto world is great as cryptocurrencies are becoming more and more famous. Obviously I don't just see it from the positive side, but I can see it from the other side. Without sufficient knowledge, newcomers will be very vulnerable to getting scammed. The crypto world is not a safe place for those who do not have enough knowledge.

There are many advantages that a club gets when it manages to bring in top players like Messi and Ronaldo. Sales of jerseys, tickets and club merchandise will also be in great demand. I think the sponsorship will also increase because of the presence of both of them at the club and it looks like a club that manages to sign players like them will have a double advantage. The club had thought of this advantage apparently before they brought anyone into the team.
3200  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: September 13, 2021, 06:31:34 PM
Why is Arsenal management still defending Arteta when it has been seen by many people including his own fans that Arteta is not showing better for Arsenal this should be a criticism for Arsenal fans because management has slowed down to fire Arteta.
Until whenever Arsenal will be bad with him if that decision is not taken.
In the past Chelsea was also coached by Lampard but it had a bad impact on the team so Lampard was sacked and replaced by Tuchel, see what happens to Chelsea now? Of course it would be much better.
Arsenal's management may still have enough confidence in Arteta that they still give him plenty of opportunities to improve the team. The situation was exactly the same as Chelsea's when Lampard coached, they did not play as expected and fortunately the Chelsea management acted faster and managed to win the Champions League title after Tuchel replaced Lampard as coach. I agreed to see Arteta stop coaching Arsenal even when the season was not over. Football fans and observers seem to have agreed with the management's decision if they wanted to sack him.
