How is a privacy wallet any different from a regular one?
Most people assume Bitcoin transactions are anonymous, but in real sense they are not and anyone who knows how to look around can link balances to addresses and also link multiple addresses to one identity. Privacy centered wallets help to prevent this and maintain the pseudo anonymity of a Bitcoin user. They use features like coinmixing or joining, Tor, etc, to protect user's privacy.

Exodus for example, I dont think they collect your info. Let's say a government wanted to give a warrant for them to look into some random dudes wallet. Would they hand the info over or something or what?
If they do not collect info, then they technically cannot link an address to a random dude. Exchanges which requires users to pass KYC process are platforms bitcoin holders should avoid, as they request for vital personal information.
3182  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Equivalent Network Time on: April 17, 2021, 01:43:21 AM
I usually hear people say they regret not getting into Bitcoin earlier and how they should have paid more attention to it when they first heard about it then or five years ago; but in reality, anyone who is aware of Bitcoin now is still a very early adopter, and ten or five years from today, anyone who buys Bitcoin now would be most likely significantly up on their investment.

Bitcoin's scarcity model is one of the most important qualities of the network.it not only increases the value of the asset, but allows it to grow without becoming inflationary, as the shortage in supply compensated the equivalent increase in first value.

3183  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to store Ethereum safe? on: April 16, 2021, 03:33:18 PM
As suggested above, a hardware wallet which supports ethereum is one of the safest ways to store your ETH.

What is more secure to store all Eth in one single wallet or use more wallets?
This depends on how much eth you own, some holders of cryptocurrency tends to use more than one wallet, one from which they can send out transactions regularly; a hot wallet and one which is used for cold storage. For very high amounts, you can use different wallets for cold storage, you can however use the same software or hardware.
3184  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Dogecoin a real coin? on: April 16, 2021, 11:50:09 AM
You will need to do your own research inorder to decide what coin has a good potential and which is not worth investing in, do not make investment advice based on opinions of others; do your own research.

Is Dogecoin a real coin and have a good potential or just pumped because Elon Musk tweets?
Being pumped does not mean a coin is worth investing in, whether the price movement is manipulated by whales or an organic growth. If you're looking for a coin to invest in, especially long term, do not focus on intermittent price changes, rather research on the dynamics of the token or coin.
3185  Other / Meta / Re: Meriting a user who just merited you on: April 15, 2021, 09:14:51 PM
It's so hard to get merits, I'm always on the collectibles section buying items
It's really not hard to get merits, the fact that majority of your posts are in collectibles reduces your chances as it's not a board which showcases a users knowledge on Bitcoin related topics or their willingness to learn, so merit sources and other users with merits to drop do not visit there.

There's no harm on being on the forum for a sole purpose without any interest in joining discussions, but if you wish to get merits and rank up, then you have to participate in discussions.
3186  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The Beginner's Forum Journey on: April 15, 2021, 04:49:27 PM
Right now, I really want to gain experience, knowledge and skills to become a useful user of this forum. I'm trying to understand a lot more rule, but many of them are very confusing. Without having to complain, I think it's about time I understood each rule in the right way. I hope you can help guide me in a better direction.
Newbies - Read Before Posting, this is a very useful thread for newbies, it contains the forum rules and other useful information for new members (though you're technically not new to the forum)

Please tell me the correct order to start with. Can you recommend a bitcoin wallet that's good enough to use and compatible with mobile? Someone told me Electrum, is it really the recommended wallet?
You are on the right track, if you have done your research on Bitcoin and decided to hold some of it, a wallet is the next step to take;
Electrum is a good recommendation, it's mobile friendly, open source and non custodial.
You should also remember that you are your own bank, so the safety of your funds is solely your responsibility.
3187  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Cryptocurrency trading on: April 15, 2021, 11:04:16 AM
I want to enter cryptocurrency trading
I have no experience, what cryptocurrency to buy with $ 1,000.
Looking for an investment to hodl for the long term is different from trading, traders (especially short term ones) try to take advantage of quick changes in the market and doesn't necessarily need the trader to fully trust the coin or asset; if you expect a coin to drop in price, you can short it and go long for those you expect to rise.

If you're looking for a currency to buy with $1000, first consider those qualities that makes you not want to hold your fiat currency, then look for the currency which solves those problems effectively.
3188  Economy / Speculation / Re: Someone Big Again Just Bought 12600 Bitcoin at 60k on: April 12, 2021, 08:47:17 PM
Grayscale often bought even bigger amount in a single day, so as I said, just business as usual.
Just to point out, Grayscale is a fund managing company, they do not invest their own cash flow into Bitcoin, they rather serve as a bridge for institutional investors who wish to own bitcoins. This means every purchase through them doesn't come from them or from any one investor.

Even though public companies are buying big into bitcoin, that amount from a single retail investor is huge.
3189  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Benefits of developing coin. on: April 12, 2021, 06:45:12 AM
Were does the funds of all these coins listed goes to
First of all, not all those coins listed in your list had a public fund raising, Bitcoin for one never had an ICO.
For those which went through the fund raising route, the devs usually include the fund distribution on their whitepaper; this would indicate what percentage of the funds:
• Gets reinvested in the project,
• Goes to the developers
• Gets giving as dividends to investors etc.

What's the Disadvantages of coin developers
I would say the over saturation of that space, there was a time new valuable coins which solved (or attempted to solve) real world problems were being issued, but due to the ease of creating a new token, shitcoins took over and it became increasingly difficult to find a good project.

P.S, this is not a Meta topic, you could move it to amore suitable board like beginners and help or altcoin section. The 'move topic' option is at the bottom left of this page.
3190  Other / Meta / Re: Ban appeal for Pierre 2 on: April 11, 2021, 08:48:49 PM
I didn't spam at all, my posts were generally divided into 3 timeframes of a day: before noon, afternoon and night.
Spamming does not always involve burst posting. Posting low quality or off topic replies could count as such as well.
The mods could have deemed your posts low quality and chose to act on the reports made. You could have a different opinion with the moderators as quality is most times subjective. Try to adjust your posting habits, to avoid such issues recurring.
3191  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoiners Show Me Your Scars!! on: April 11, 2021, 04:01:27 PM
Holding through years and years with all those so called "price crashes" and all those Bitcoin obituaries.
Ironically, I consider it far more difficult to hodl Bitcoin through a rising bull market than through a bear period; the risk to sell off when you've gotten a certain amount of profits seems much more alluring than that of when the price is dropping and you'll likely be selling at a loss.
Even though you do not technically lose when you sell at the start of a bull run, you miss out on possible future profits
3192  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Apkpure official app breached with trojan on: April 11, 2021, 10:09:17 AM
Of course, neither is Google play 100% safe but reduces the likelihood of infected apps.
Google is far from being 100% safe, with its poor security filter system, phishing apps not only gets displayed, but gets recommended on search engines top pages.
Internet users, especially those who are into Bitcoin where you're basically your own bank, should take extra precautions to protect themselves;
• Keep your funds on an airgapped device or hardware wallet,
• If you have exchange accounts and other sensitive information on your device, only download apps that are absolutely necessary and always from their original website (verify the signature key if possible),
3193  Other / Meta / Re: Ban appeal for Pierre 2 on: April 11, 2021, 10:01:10 AM
And 7 day ban for these posts seems bit too exaggerated to me.
7 day ban is actually the shortest temporary ban and usually given out for spamming, it's in no way exaggerated and should be taken as a warning to change your posting habit or you risk future bans and a possible perma ban.

When you look into dates of removed posts it is clearly seen something is wrong.  Noone can read many posts in couple of seconds.
The mods could possibly go through the reports individually and then take action generally, this doesn't mean something is wrong.
Users can also reports posts within similar time frames, so mods with the benefit of the 'report comment' can act much faster.
3194  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Elon musk 5000 BTC give away scam ad on: April 10, 2021, 08:41:48 PM
How Youtube allow this shit? I can imagine tons of people fall for this and actually send him Bitcoin.
No one can depend on social platforms to protect themselves from scams, regardless of how efficient their security system is. Such platforms which are profit oriented usually prioritize returns over protecting their users.
Using the internet exposes one to a certain level of risk and users should take basic precautions to avoid falling for scams, like scrutinizing offers that are too good to be true.
3195  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bloomberg predicting BTC reaching $400K in 2021 on: April 09, 2021, 11:46:05 AM
One thing that is certain, at the end of this current market cycle, 1BTC would be equal to 1BTC.
The fiat value of Bitcoin is volatile and very difficult to predict and most people who give out numbers of what value bitcoin would be at within xxx period, do so arbitrarily, while the market reacts uniquely.
3196  Other / Meta / Re: Change Account Password Regularly. on: April 09, 2021, 11:10:05 AM
I consider changing passwords regularly to be a security practice, but one should take care to write it down to avoid loosing it.

There's also the issue of people thinking your account might have changed hands if you happen to change both your password and your e-mail at the same time.
You call always sign a message using 'change in email or password' as the message, this way, no one would suspect that your account has changed hands as you've proven to own to still own the Bitcoin address related to your profile.
3197  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: List Of Benefits and Opportunities With Bitcoin on: April 06, 2021, 08:51:33 PM
What benefits have you seen from Bitcoin?
It is a decentralized peer to peer network, which is immutable. What benefits one can get from it depends on how they choose to use it; whether as a speculative asset or as an investment.
Do not expect Bitcoin to change economies or to be means to bridge the wealth gap.
3198  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You Think Bitcoin Save Your Economy on: April 06, 2021, 04:33:59 PM
Do you think Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency could really help people bring back their economy?
No, I do not think Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency could have a significant effect on an economy.

This be in the form of trading. Use of the currency? creation of? education. etc
None of these is enough to effect an economy on a national scale, cryptocurrencies for now are for mostly personal use, public companies are gradually beginning to join the queue, but until it is fully embraced by governments, it cannot influence the state of an economy.
3199  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Facebook's 533M accounts leaked online and what does it mean for crypto users on: April 06, 2021, 01:31:19 PM
This is a not so subtle reminder that information you give to public platforms, like social medias and centralized exchanges should be considered public information as they can be leaked, hacked, presented to government officials for "investigations" and are usually never truly deleted from the internet.

Always take security precautions when using the internet;
• Do not pass through KYC process on random platforms,
• Do not resuse emails or mobile numbers to register on multiple platforms,
• Keep your investment portfolio out of social networks.
3200  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Benefit of campaign in Bitcointalk on: April 06, 2021, 10:26:28 AM
So the company will call me in person to work with them, please I need clarification, because if them need my attention, or my service in what way will i work with them, will I go over to the company.
There are campaign managers who would announce a new signature campaign for members to apply, they now go ahead to choose participants from the various applications based on their posting habit (quality and boards they frequent). It's highly unlikely one would be contacted personally.
You do not go over to the company, you simply continue posting as usual, but now wearing the signature of that company.
