2481  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: HELP: Hacked Wallet on: December 08, 2021, 06:57:57 AM
Did you set up the nodes yourself or did you have someone else do it for you?
Also, did you verify the extension being added, the Strongblock Ponzi or project is becoming quite popular and this is sure to attract scammers who would create fake versions to get into user's wallets.

Now that the MM wallet has been hacked, what should I do?Huh?
There's really nothing you can do as the coins are already gone besides checking for the loophole and ensuring it does not affect any other app on your device.
2482  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People say its ok to lose in crypto and btc but here is important message to all on: December 07, 2021, 07:17:06 PM
Didn't get the point of a huge part of your text, but you can always leave cryptocurrencies, it's an alternative sector and you can survive without it and deal with conventional banks.
If you're having problems picking what cryptocurrency to buy, or do not have enough technical knowledge to properly use it or you don't get why you even need it at all, you can always leave cryptocurrencies and stick with fiat.
2483  Economy / Economics / Re: Is there any change that protect crypto from fractional reserve style stuff? on: December 07, 2021, 06:15:00 PM
I don't think that we can use the same thing with Bitcoins. Fractional reserve banking might be hard if we are just considering bitcoins, since at the end of the day we have to understand the fact that, bitcoins as a whole are volatile and lending through 3rd parties can cause initial owners to have probelms since they might have to sell instantly because of market fluctuations. How do they decide to do that then ?
Definitely, that's why I said it can only be possible if Bitcoin is valued on itself like by purchasing power or work hours which would make it more stable than when it is purely determined by speculation.
Fractional reserve is definitely not possible in the current structure of the Bitcoin ecosystem and might not actually be possible in the coming years as it's still a very maturing system.

Fractional reserve banking might only work for fiat. With Bitcoins it might be a disaster in making.
It does not even perfectly work with fiat if you consider situations of inflation and hyper devaluation, it's just the current most efficient system.
2484  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin platform on: December 07, 2021, 06:06:29 PM
i would like to invest in bitcoin but my knowledge doesn’t let me invest large amounts
I would say you are already on the right track as you're associating your investment with your level of knowledge and not buying simply cause it's popular and has grown over the years.
There are quite a number of useful threads on the forum for getting your feet wet in Bitcoin, you can check out this one for all you need on what wallet to choose
You can also check out this external threads which I've once recommended for someone;
This covers a good amount of Bitcoin basics: https://www.coindesk.com/learn/

This discusses about wallets and security: https://cryptosec.info/wallets/

My questions are Crypto.com good? when the actual price of bitcoin was at 35k the weekenscrypto.com was still selling 1 bitcoin at 35.9 so it seems its always inflated by around 7-900 pound compared to real live data of bitcoin on google
About Crypto.com, it seems to be a legitimate site; I've never used it so I cannot personally recommend it, but you should research on what wallet or exchange is best for you as it depends on your purpose of using it.;
• Exchanges generally are bad for storing cryptocurrencies, infact, any custodian platform (one that holds your private keys) is bad for storing cryptos.
• If you do not care about privacy that much you can make use of centralized exchanges, otherwise you can check out DEXes or P2P platforms which does not require KYC,
• Online wallets are not recommended,
• Closed source wallets are not recommended.

Also when i buy percentages of bitcoin on this app is it safe in my wallet? Does it still accumulate profit in my wallet or have i got to do something else to store my percentages of bitcoin??
It's much safer to store your coins on a non custodian wallet, which does not accumulate from just storing it. Some platforms offer interest on staking, but it's generally not safe.
2485  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to improve a bitcoin site's Google ranking on: December 06, 2021, 10:20:06 AM
Getting a marketers who has knowledge of SEO would be a good first step as they would be able to use available tools to get your product more traffic. Or you could also take some courses on SEO (Search Engine Optimization) in case you want to manage it yourself.

Five weeks is quite short and if you're aiming for organic traffic, it would take a bit longer than that to get desired results. You should also not limit your marketing to search engines, social media is a very good way to build traffic for your platform and stay in the loop with relevant trends.

Google is refusing to rank us for bitcoin terms, and it also doesn't allow me to run adwords campaigns, so we're struggling to gain any traffic.
Do you mean you cannot bid for specific key words, what reason was given for this?
2486  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin - Is HODL the only strategy? on: December 06, 2021, 06:38:02 AM
While I get your point of view, there are times like this that I regret not being active in trading. For instance, I could have sold my BTC at ATH, a few weeks ago, and now I could have obtained a significant amount of BTC, by purchasing, using the exact same amount of money. It's called short-trading, while at the same time, I would continue holding.
You say this cause you are viewing it retrospectively and have seen exactly how the market played out over the past few days, predicting what direction it would take in order to know when to short is not an easy strategy and you would definitely lose out so many times. Everyone is a good trader when they have seen how the market plays out.

On the other hand, there are quite a few things that can go wrong, such as an unexpected price change and so on, however, now I'd definitely have more Bitcoin.
You think so (the highlighted part), because you're viewing the market retrospectively, attempting to predict it before it happens is much more difficult and risky.
2487  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lost Bitcoin a donation to everyone on: December 05, 2021, 06:58:45 PM
should we take such accidents as a donation to Bitcoin holders?
Lost bitcoins lead to a reduced supply and a thinner supply flow against demand usually results in a increase in the price.

Does it really benefit other holders? I would say it is a zero sum game; Firstly,it's a regrettable situation for one to lose access to their bitcoins due to carelessness or ignorance and it presents a risk that could demotivate some from getting into bitcoin; An average Joe would not want to be entirely responsible for their assets, where one wrong move could result in it getting lost.

Secondly, determining what bitcoin are lost is purely down to speculation, except the holders come out publicly. So adding some more couple thousand bitcoins into the lost pool which cannot be determined does not do much for it to be a benefit to other holders.
2488  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the difference between seed phrase and private key? on: December 05, 2021, 06:36:21 PM
In basic terms a seed phrase is a representation of the private keys in an easily readable format in which you can back it up. Handling private keys would be difficult for most to write down and store without errors, so the seed or recovery phrase encodes the same information contained in the private key in a more user friendly format for easier recovery of an asset.

A seed phrase is a group of 12 - 24 words, while a private key is a combination of 51 or 52 alphanumeric characters.
2489  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin - Is HODL the only strategy? on: December 05, 2021, 06:30:31 PM
I own different crypto and mostly I stake with them because I am interested in the long return. With bitcoin I am actually doing nothing.
If you are primarily interested in the long return, then hodling bitcoin is your best bet and would potentially bring you more profit than staking assets which are built on the PoS model. Not to shot on proof of stake, but one of the main reasons bitcoin actually increases in value is due to the controlled and reducing supply and how no one holds more stake on the network.

Can you suggest any strategies to make even a little APR? I know that I can't stake with bitcoin.
There are third party services that you can technically stake your bitcoins with, but as a common rule; Not your keys,Not your coins.
2490  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need Some Advice on: December 05, 2021, 05:57:46 PM

2491  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reasons why I prefer Bitcoin over any other assets and dips don't panic me.... on: December 05, 2021, 05:45:06 PM
Perhaps, in the early stages, bitcoin grew and was popularized due to the fact that people used it as a currency, and not as a speculative instrument, I will not argue.
I would actually say the opposite; there are more ways to spend bitcoin now as a currency now than there was ten or so years ago due to emergence of more merchants and projects such as lightening network.

But now the value of bitcoin is growing due to the fact that more and more various IRL spheres and companies support bitcoin. But this does not mean that the more companies support it, the more often Bitcoin is used as a means of payment, otherwise we would not see a constant outflow from the circulating supply, and, consequently, the price increase.
So many factors affect the volatility of bitcoin, that it would be impossible to pinpoint just one, but the most salient imo, should be the features it was built with, which attracts companies and individuals.
2492  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Am I Doing My Students a Disservice? on: December 05, 2021, 05:31:54 PM
So I beg the question; How can I create a class project centered around bitcoins ecosystem that can be inclusive to all students regardless of the technology they may or may not possess?
firstly, I would say you are doing an impressive job introducing your wards to futuristic technology at a very young age, as that would give them a soft landing when they eventually might want to go deeper later in life. However, their interactions should be somewhat limited considering their age and exposure; like not too much about the financial aspect (speculative) or none at all.

About what bitcoin centered project to engagement them in which would be inclusive; I would suggest an artwork that describes what bitcoin means to them. Everyone would be able to participate as there is no technology barrier and it would make them relate to the network a lot more.
2493  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reasons why I prefer Bitcoin over any other assets and dips don't panic me.... on: December 05, 2021, 12:50:02 PM
So if you understand the market and want to safeguard yourself from all of these problems then BTC is the best option for you.Few understand it fast rest late but soon you understand the better it will be for you.
Bitcoin does solve a lot of problems in our current society due to how the network is built and the features, and those who have learnt of it now are the early adopters, cause they joined before six figures.
In my opinion, the price someone bought in at does not matter much, as you will still be able to access all the features.

However, regardless of how promising bitcoin is and how high its value can get, we should also consider the risks involved and how bitcoin as a currency cannot survive alone without alternative currencies (fiat). And storing all your funds in bitcoin is not feasible as it is not universally accepted and transactions are not instant.
2494  Economy / Reputation / Re: Do you think these 2 accounts are related? on: December 04, 2021, 03:04:10 PM
Seems to me that it's all one person selling a scam script and then promoting it.
Anyone else have a different view?
I have the same view with you, the patterns of the replies and to an extent the writing style (not ending their posts with a full stop) makes me think they're the same person. But that's all an assumption and cannot be proven, at least not with the facts available. And might not even matter much if proven, besides another reason for a negative trust of course.
2495  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Jr Member in the Pocket (1 Down, 5 to Go) on: December 04, 2021, 02:47:13 PM
Hopefully i would become a Jr. Member soon. As i have business to share especially in image. Congrats again!
You don't have to be hopeful. You'll definitely become a Jr. member if you make at least one post in the next activity period as you already have the needed requirements for the rank.
Copper membership is also another way to enable posting on the forum without needing to meet any activity or merit requirement. You probably don't need it now, but some other newbies could use the info.

I'm going to celebrate every milestone I achieve until I get to the Legendary  Grin
That's the ultimate goal or is it learning and discussing Bitcoin?  Huh
Just kidding, they both usually come together, the more you learn and discuss, the more knowledge you get and the higher your rank.
Congratulations on your milestone, every little step counts.
2496  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Please, help me understand. on: December 03, 2021, 08:55:34 PM
The investment is nothing but the lonest form of trading because investment is made to reap profits which means you expect the price to be higher in the future which can be in a day or two which is trading in general or in few years which is investment.
Well, in trading one can sometimes short an asset, which basically means you expect the price to drop in the coming days/weeks and sell your current position so as to buy back when the price is much lower while profiting.

Both trading and investments are somewhat slightly similar and strategies can be applied successfully in both situations, but there are marked difference between them and very different approaches. I personally don't believe being a good trader would make one a good inveror and vice versa.
2497  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Micheal saylor clown on: December 03, 2021, 03:37:55 PM
We all know that biggest whale are grayscale the another Micheal the CEO of Grayscale.

Next time when market moves Grayscale should announce they gona buy it or sell it.
This post is an obvious troll/shill, but I'll reply either ways;
You're mentioning Grayscale quite a lot in your posts, firstly there's no competition between both companies and both CEOs could actually be friends irl. About which company holds more, Grayscale is sort of a trust fund and allows exposure to Bitcoin from people who would normally not be able to access it, they do not own the bitcoins they hold, Microstrategy on the other hand buys and holds Bitcoin directly most of the time, I believe they did a find rasing some time back, but majority of the coins they hold were bought directly.
2498  Other / Meta / Re: if they banned signature ads would this forum still exist? on: December 03, 2021, 03:15:22 PM
About the platform existing; it definitely will. As has been pointed out, the forum existed before signature campaigns and would after it.
Would I be active if the forum did not have sig campaigns;

I'm sure I'll definitely not be as active as I am now, the forum is a repository of knowledge and serves as a source of solution which any crypto enthusiast has, so I'll have lots of reasons to remain on the forum, just not as much as I do now. Discussing about Bitcoin is rewarding of itself, but the actual perks of a dog campaign adds an extra incentive.
This can also be said for so many other members, most of which may not even log in at all anymore, leading to a drop in activity and a more comfortable place for users interested in the network to discuss.

If there were no signature campaigns probably threads would have only a couple of replies, rather than several pages of texts.
2499  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Banks and Bitcoin- The needed change on: December 02, 2021, 05:08:01 PM
Some people say that traditional banks will disappear due to the emergence of cryptocurrencies because it gives consumers another option when they need financial assistance; however, I think this is unfounded speculation.
No, it won't. Cryptocurrencies cannot substitute for traditional banking, maybe in a futuristic Utopian society that could be possible, but that's quite a long shot.
Bitcoin which was the emergent cryptocurrency, was not created to replace fiat and banks, it was meant to be another option as you rightly pointed out, an alternative means of sending and receiving money which does not need third party validation. And while Bitcoin has great potential to grow and become globally adopted, a centralized system of banking would always exist.
2500  Other / Meta / Re: [Request to mod/admin] Can I create a topic on "other language"? on: December 02, 2021, 04:37:58 PM
<snip>
This can be done in the local thread and you ask the OP edit the link into the first post, so everyone would be able to locate it even if it gets buried under other replies.
Other local thread members could have ideas similar they would want to post but that would just make the board a bit clunky and difficult to navigate.

Or you could wait for a direct reply from a mod.
