2381  Other / Off-topic / Re: KYC is the biggest scam on internet on: January 10, 2022, 09:34:17 PM
I believe the dangers of exposing your personal details is well known on the forum already, but it cannot be entirely avoided, if you wish to live a normal life. You would need to be registered when you are born and subsequently would need a drivers' license or international passport or some other means of identification; All these are stored on government servers and could be exposed if a breach occurs.

The best you can do is to not link your real life identity to your online persona. Anyone with a mobile device should not be able to google you up and get full details about you, and those who know you should not be aware of your online presence.
2382  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: IS it possible to let your BTC work for you ? on: January 10, 2022, 09:14:27 PM
I do not have much experience about staking or lending bitcoin, but I think all of those processes would involve you handing your assets over to a third party.
Whoever owns the keys, owns the coins, and it would be impossible for a third party to pay you interest for coins you still hold. You will have to give up self custody, if you wish to gamble on the possibility of earning an interest.
2383  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Since you started crypto what has been the greatest mistake you made? on: January 09, 2022, 09:41:56 PM
My biggest regret would be spending time and effort on shicoins. If I had fully focused on stacking sats from the get go, I would be in a much better position now. Not complaining though, and in hindsight, there was no way a newbie could have fully understood how cryptocurrency works.

if you don't tell us the evidence for the story, you may also want to trick us into believing that you have been scammed. Is this fair?
Is there any incentive to lie in this case? The thread does not require evidence, so posting them would be unnecessary.
Also, you'll be surprised how many people trust people they meet on the internet.
2384  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who saw the Bear market coming? on: January 09, 2022, 05:29:28 PM
There is no medal for guessing that the price of bitcoin would drop. If you are naturally pessimistic person and preach caution doom when ever the price rises, you will eventually appear to be right cause we have not achieved stability yet and the value tends to drop after reaching certain heights.

Following your 'victory dance' post, a lot of your friends who did not sell but waited for $60k actually benefited more. Those who did hodl through the recent peak just have to hodl longer, It is money you can afford to lose after all.
2385  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Prophesy on: January 08, 2022, 05:53:32 PM
The first type of people will be those who got on the Bitcoin train voluntarily. And those who were “forced” because they had no other choice.
'Forced' is a word that does not correlate with bitcoin in any way. Bitcoin is meant to be an option that anyone can freely use without needing a third party and they are also free to not use it if they do not wish to.
2386  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin to hit $100k? on: January 08, 2022, 02:29:32 PM
Nonetheless, experts may seem predicted the current situation and that bitcoin will likely to experience a steep drop in the upcoming months.
But is it really possible for bitcoin to achieve $100k by mid this year? Given that the market is currently declining.
When it comes to predicting bitcoin's market price, the word "expert" does not count, it is simply a gamble and your guess is as good as any.
Achieving $100k before mid year is definitely possible
Would it happen? We would have to wait and see.
The crypto market is unpredictable.
2387  Economy / Speculation / Re: Some important information about Bitcoin and the current state of Bitcoin on: January 08, 2022, 11:33:34 AM
Because in Bitcoin, the value of the token depends on the other coins. But since 2020, the condition of Bitcoin has been getting better.
It is actually the other way around. Most of the time, other coins tend to follow the price actions of bitcoin.

In 2021, the Bitcoin situation further improved, touching the highest level but not staying there for long, deteriorating and declining again.
You would not expect it to last for long at the peak price, it actually stayed up in the high range, above $60k for a while showing it was not just a pump up and a dump back down.

I want to know the reason why Bitcoin is such a valuable coin. What is the reason for the market situation? Bitcoin prices are expected to fall further at this time?
• Bitcoin is valuable because of the features it has, it is decentralized, immutable, secure and borderless,
• Market sentiments,
• Possibly, or not.
2388  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will owning 0.01 BTC really make you rich? on: January 06, 2022, 07:08:13 PM
What do you think? Is it really possible to become rich with 0.01 BTC in the future? If not, why?
No, it will not. 100BTC would not make you rich either as the purpose of bitcoin was not to grow wealth, but as a medium of exchange which does not require a third party. The value started from zero, so it naturally had to increase to reach its actual worth; hence the speculative value. This does not mean the price of bitcoin would keep rising exponentially forever, I believe it would instead experience reduced volatility and balance out at a certain value with time.

0.01BTC is a huge sum now for many and could get significantly higher, but simply hodling bitcoin would not make you rich.
2389  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which exchanges provide "learn & earn" programs? on: January 06, 2022, 04:36:22 PM
I was going to recommend coinbase, until I read more on your topic and it is actually the only exchange I am aware of that has such an option.
I understand your point about needing somewhere to start considering where you are from. But, if your aim is to earn as you get into cryptocurrencies, you should also explore other means that will be more rewarding for the time consumed.
If you have a skill, you could market it here and if you do not, you could find one that interests you and build on it.

What I'm worried, first, is about security. Is there a way those programs might be scams, or any other way to hurt me financially?
There is an obvious privacy risk as many of such websites would require your personal information. There could also be a security risk with those mining services they claim you can do with your mobile phone and earn from.
2390  Other / Meta / Re: Ban request for user: franky1 on: January 06, 2022, 10:00:30 AM
Franky1 has been on the forum for a very long time, and from the early days I came across the profile, they were a pretty decent poster who gave mostly accurate information, although I believe they had a tag then for spreading wrong information on the forum.

I am not quite sure when their postings went downhill as I do not engage in any posts that they have posted in. However, judging from the links in the OP I would not still support a ban for the user. There may be some disagreements wand misinformation, but I would not call them net negative to the forum deserving of a ban.

As have been said, challenge the misinformation or leave a neutral feedback on their account, or put it on your ignore list.
2391  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Request for help on: January 04, 2022, 07:09:01 PM
@Upgrade00 sorry sir I'm still learning to link there but I was a few days ago when looking for information related to bitcoin and others accidentally saw this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nT5HPhO2MA8 because I'm curious about which is in it so I started looking for the bitcoin.org site and finally as I said above it became like this
Good to see videos made by members on the forum is creating traction and attracting users to the forum.
That video was made by user Steamtyme and posted here on the forum along with some other useful links.

I'm still confused about how to quote, reply to one by one and so on
On any open thread, there is a quote button at the right hand of every post, and a +merit option besides it. Clicking on the quote would insert the text in quote tags with a link to the source.
To add multiple quotes, when you are writing a reply, scroll down and you will see an 'insert quote' option at the top right of every reply and you can quickly add it.

I am a new person who knows this forum (accidentally found out because I saw it from the youtube platform).
Just out of curiosity, what YouTube channel did you find it out through?

I don't know where to put this thread of mine and I can't find any articles on beginner's guides either.

Can anyone tell me where to find more information about the rules as well as a guide on how to properly use this forum.
Check out the stickie threads on Beginners' and Help board, it contains lots of information about how the forum works.

2393  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin is less privacy protected,( Query being a new member) on: January 04, 2022, 05:33:33 PM
Bitcoin is actually a cryptocurrency digital currency. It has its risks in a virtual currency. It is prone to hacking. Since online transactions have to be done, if you make a little mistake here, there will be huge loss. There are big risks involved in transactions. So I think this bitcoin is not an easy transaction.
Understanding how exactly it works and how to safely navigate transactions should be a priority before owning bitcoins. For one, If you keep your private keys on an air gapped device, then you would not need to directly transact online;
• Create the raw transaction on an online device,
• Copy the raw tx into the air-gapped device and sign it,
• Copy the signed tx back into the online device and broadcast

Bitcoin is not prone to hacking, careless use of your device is likely going to put you at risk in virtual currency or your local bank account.
2394  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What type of skills need for become a bounty Manager? on: January 04, 2022, 02:45:17 PM
You do not need knowledge on banner designing, HTML or CSS. Knowledge of using google form and sheets is an advantage as all projects require setting up a sheet for the participants.

  • Apart from these, what other skills are required? And what should I start with?
Knowledge of forum rules and managing participants,
Reputation is an added advantage.

  • And where do I get work from?
You post a thread in the services section about your skills and abilities. If you check that board you will see some other of such threads.
2395  Other / Meta / Re: I Need Help With Posting Here on: January 04, 2022, 02:29:53 PM
Use a computer or change your phone broswer to a computer version. It does not work on mobile version
Visit https://imgur.com
That is true, and it is also possible to use imgur mobile app without needing to log in on the website and I find it more user friendly.
2396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Looking for founding members for a meme coin on: January 04, 2022, 02:20:45 PM
The services board is one way you could get people with the required skills, although it is majorly used when you want to hire someone and I am not sure if you will be willing to pay a co founder.

You can also post the full details of your project at project development. That is one way to get interest in your project, though it should be related to bitcoin somewhat to be posted there, IIRC.
2397  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Genesis block - Today, 12 years ago on: January 03, 2022, 05:21:04 PM
It's 13 years ago, not 12.
This is a post I made last year about this topic. I simply bumped it and changed the topic on the reply, but not on the main post, so it does not get confusing.
2398  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin Genesis block - Today, 13 years ago on: January 03, 2022, 02:18:42 PM
Another year to celebrate, or just remember the genesis of bitcoin blocks. It has been thirteen years now, and a lot has happened over the past 365 days.
Happy Birthday Bitcoin.
2399  Economy / Economics / Re: If the government loses control of the financial system, we have a fall back on: January 03, 2022, 01:46:23 PM
This is a clear example of how governments try to control the people by controlling the money, and the threat of having an alternative asset that the people can fall back to is one of their major concerns, reason why a lot of countries are banning their banks from being part of the network.

Bitcoin is the back up/fall back that we need.
It is, but we do not necessarily need to use it as only a back up, it can function way more than that.
2400  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to post Bitcoin bounty for stolen truck on: January 03, 2022, 01:02:00 PM
I agree with the above comment. I cannot find any peculiar reason why you want the reward paid in bitcoin especially if you are not sire how much people know about it and is scared of compromising your security.
Your top priority now is recovering your truck, through the best means possible; reporting to the local authority and organizing a bounty in fiat is the best option in my opinion.

Bounties are not that popular in my area. How about rather than a huge grand prize, you offer a reduced reward for any useful infomation, which could give clues to how it can be located?
