Where can we bet on predicting the correct score for the superbowl? I am not superstitious, however, I would like to make a bet on the Simpsons’ prediction on the Bengals winner with the correct of 34-31 hehehe. It appears that the show has predicted the superbowl correctly 3 times already according to social media.

3182  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Oscar Awards 2022 betting thread on: February 11, 2022, 02:16:14 AM
Perhaps the only surprise in the nominees for best picture is the absence of House Of Gucci, but all other nominees on the list are well-deserved (except, maybe, Don't Look Up). Power Of The Dog by Jane Campion is a strong favorite, with Spielberg's West Side Story as a strong secondary contender.

I agree on Don’t Look Up. It was an entertaining comedy but not a movie for the Oscar awards. However, always there is politics in this. Leonardo di Caprio has the Hollywood connections to make his contemporaries vote for his projects in exchange for a chance to get favors hehehe.

My strong secondary is Belfast and my third is Coda. They are very good movies that everyone should watch. I shake my head when someone said there were no good movies created on 2021.
3183  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 OSCARS - Nominees, Odds and Predictions! on: February 11, 2022, 02:01:30 AM
@Hydrogen. On Dune if you are not a fan of the books, it will be hard to be a fan of the movie. Dune is not similar to Starwars where it was created like a tv soap opera with lasers, spaceships and as a marketing tool for commerical merchandising. Dune was a very good movie and it deserves the nomination for best picture, I reckon.

The odds for the other categories do not have their odds listed in sportsbooks, however, these are my picks. I have not watched some of the nominated movies. I might change my choices.

Best visual effects: Spider-Man: No Way Home
Best production design: West Side Story
Best international feature:
Best cinematography: Dune
Best original song: Down to Joy (Belfast)
Best documentary short:
Best documentary feature:
Best animated feature: Encanto
Best makeup & hairstyling: House of Gucci
Best film editing: tick, tick… BOOM!
Best supporting actor: Jesse Plemons (The Power of the Dog)
Best supporting actress: Judi Dench
Best live action short:
Best animated short:
Best original screenplay: Belfast (Kenneth Branagh)
Best adapted screenplay: Coda (Sian Heder)
Best original score: Dune
Best sound: Dune
Best costume design: West Side Story
3184  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Binance, led by Changpeng Zhao, is taking a $200 million stake in Forbes on: February 11, 2022, 12:42:52 AM
Mainstream news media company publishes a negative article on Binance. Owner of Binance buys news media company hehehe.

I reckon Binance is taking a different marketing strategy from FTX in expanding their business to a more mainstream market. We have already witnessed FTX, crypto.com and some projects in the cryptospace partner themselves with sports teams and sports businesses to connect to a mainstream audience. It appears the crypto takeover might only be beginning.

Binance, the world’s biggest cryptocurrency exchange, is making a $200 million strategic investment in Forbes, the 104-year-old magazine and digital publisher, CNBC has learned.

The funds will help Forbes execute on its plan to merge with a publicly traded special purpose acquisition company, or SPAC, in the first quarter, according to people with knowledge of the deal.

3185  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WSJ: How the Feds Tracked Hacked Bitfinex Funds on: February 10, 2022, 05:07:54 AM
@bittraffic. Agreed. There are many people who are also very skeptical of this. It really appears that the government wants everyone to accept that their official press release is really how the story transpired, however, can we trust the government? We know they have always lied to the people.
3186  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WSJ: How the Feds Tracked Hacked Bitfinex Funds on: February 10, 2022, 03:16:24 AM
@franky1. Do you trust this official press release to be the real story? I reckon real hackers and moneylaunderers who have control to more than $3 billion in bitcoin might be more careful and smarter. The skeptical me is beginning to think that those people in social media who speculate that they are only scapegoats might be correct. Would it be shocking if the hackers was a group commisioned by a corrupt government intelligence agency?
3187  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WSJ: How the Feds Tracked Hacked Bitfinex Funds on: February 10, 2022, 02:33:27 AM
I have read different interpretations of the story. There were some people in social media that were saying they were the hackers and there are also some people that were saying that they were only the moneylaunderers for the hackers. However, much of those who said that they were accused as the hackers were also saying that they cannot be the real hackers. They speculated that they were only scapegoats. This is head shaking after watching their Tiktok videos.

It also appears Heather Morgan who is one of the accused was a Forbes contributor. This article was written by her hehehe.

3188  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-01-27] Bill might give Yellen unilateral power to ban BTC and crypto on: February 10, 2022, 01:26:58 AM
This is why we should be open to ICO, IDO, IWO for democratic funding. Defi for trading without KYC. Anonymous altcoins for privacy and many other new developments that are being created. I know there will be scams, however, there are real projects that will make it very difficult for the government to take everything down because they are decentralized enough and there are many of them.
The problem is the vast majority of these achieve nothing. Almost every single ICO from the ICO craze has failed to live up to expectations and simply resulted in the owners taking money from the newbies who bought these scam coins. DeFi is more centralized than bitcoin, running centralized coins on centralized chains via centralized services, and is an easier target than bitcoin for government regulations. Most anonymous altcoins are nothing of the sort. Far easier for the government to shut down some tiny altcoin with a handful of nodes which is only traded on one or two exchanges than it is for it to shut down bitcoin.

We cannot be certain if bitcoin is being used for terrorist funding or if it is being used by drug cartels
It isn't. You an read my thread from a few days ago here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5383745.0. The Chainalysis report from last year, and the Europol report from just a few weeks ago both reached the same conclusion, that terrorists, drug cartels, and criminals in general, all still prefer using fiat, and proportionally fiat is used far more than cryptocurrency in illegal activities.

Arguable if ICO, IDO, IWO as a concept for a democratic type of funding might only be a craze. I am very much aware that 2015 - 2017 created many projects that have failed, however, there was a few that were successful also. Similar to the startup world, it is expected that more than 50% of them fail in the 5th year.

I am not telling everyone that there were no scams, there were many scams. However, we should also be open minded because the cryptospace is always developing and advancing. The world will have and use many blockchains, it will not only be bitcoin.

Also, what is worrying for me on Chainalysis’ assessment is what if the criminals are more competent in hiding through the cryptospace than what we thought.
3189  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Oscar Awards 2022 betting thread on: February 09, 2022, 05:08:33 AM
@STT. The hosts for the presentation will be Tracee Ellis Ross and Leslie Jordan. The jokes of Billy Crystal might not be funny and entertaining for the audiences of today. My father is a movie lover and he loves Billy Crystal hehehe. He has a collection of old comedy movies that starred Billy Murphy, Arsenio Hall, Steve Martin and other great comedians before 2000.

“black-ish” star Tracee Ellis Ross and actor-comedian Leslie Jordan will co-host the presentation, which can be viewed on Oscar.com, Oscars.org and on the film academy’s digital platforms (Twitter, YouTube and Facebook).

In any case, the odds have changed. The Power of the Dog movie and director is the sure favorite to win best picture and director, however, the leading actor of the movie Benedict Cumberbatch is 4.80 for best actor. Also, Belfast was the favorite before the announcment of the nominees. It is presently 3.60. I speculate both of them might have a winning chance.

I personally think Brady does not want to keep his off season regime up and knows he will not be as competitive if he plays next year without it.

He's a pretty honest guy IMO.

Does Brady’s being honest imply that he has really retired as he has announced in social media or does this imply that he does not know what he will feel in 6 months and he will take things as they come?

In any case, what are everyone’s bets for the superbowl? I want to take everyone’s advice and combine all of your analysis in sportsbet.io’s bet builder hehehehehe.

@South Park. I reckon Brady’s activities for the next 6 months might give everyone a clue if he is planning on going back or not.
3191  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: $3.6 billion in Bitcoin seized from Crocodile of Wall Street on: February 09, 2022, 03:35:47 AM
I would like to know two things:

How were the Bitfinex bitcoins stolen?

The Bitfinex hacked was in August 2016. The couple was not involved directly. But they are the one who laundered the stolen bitcoin through an elaborate scheme.

Quote
According to court documents, Lichtenstein and Morgan allegedly conspired to launder the proceeds of 119,754 bitcoin that were stolen from Bitfinex’s platform after a hacker breached Bitfinex’s systems and initiated more than 2,000 unauthorized transactions. Those unauthorized transactions sent the stolen bitcoin to a digital wallet under Lichtenstein’s control. Over the last five years, approximately 25,000 of those stolen bitcoin were transferred out of Lichtenstein’s wallet via a complicated money laundering process that ended with some of the stolen funds being deposited into financial accounts controlled by Lichtenstein and Morgan. The remainder of the stolen funds, comprising more than 94,000 bitcoin, remained in the wallet used to receive and store the illegal proceeds from the hack. After the execution of court-authorized search warrants of online accounts controlled by Lichtenstein and Morgan, special agents obtained access to files within an online account controlled by Lichtenstein. Those files contained the private keys required to access the digital wallet that directly received the funds stolen from Bitfinex, and allowed special agents to lawfully seize and recover more than 94,000 bitcoin that had been stolen from Bitfinex. The recovered bitcoin was valued at over $3.6 billion at the time of seizure.

Here is the official court document: https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/two-arrested-alleged-conspiracy-launder-45-billion-stolen-cryptocurrency

What does everyone speculate the special agents will do to the 94,000 coins that have been recovered? Will they return those coins to Bitfinex or will they hold it for safety and security?

Also, what does everyone think of this news? Is it bullish or bearish? It appears that it might be argued for either side hehehe.
3192  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-01-27] Bill might give Yellen unilateral power to ban BTC and crypto on: February 09, 2022, 02:49:01 AM
@Lucius. However, Janet Yellen and the Biden administration might take it further and combine the 2 biggest campaigns, the war on drugs and the war on terrorism, with the war on the cryptospace because bitcoin and other cryptocoins are being used by drug cartels and terrorists. It will leave every cryptocoin user’s head shaking hehehe.

Are there terrorist organizations that pose a serious threat to the US today? I think I am well informed about it, and I cannot remember the last time I read the news related to terrorism. The drug trade is a different story altogether, but the fact is that drug dealers still prefer good old greenbacks, which you can set on fire when you're cold (Escobar reportedly burned $2 million to keep his family warm). The US government may try to put Bitcoin in the story, but Bitcoin has little or no effect in all of this.

We cannot be certain if bitcoin is being used for terrorist funding or if it is being used by drug cartels, however, the government can always create a fake storyline and make this the central message of their war against the cryptospace. Similar to the war against drugs, the politicians that support it do not care if it works or does not work. The war on drugs has been going on since the 1970s and it has never been successful in ending drug cartels and illegal drug use.
3193  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: February 08, 2022, 03:51:14 AM
@suchmoon. However, are those team names not similar to a tribute? Why would a team call themselves Redskins, Chiefs, Indians or Braves? I am quite certain no one had a meeting and agreed to adopt those team names to be racist. This woke culture might be created to make everyone confused and cause everyone to make opinions that escape logical perception.

Also, on football news, what does everyone speculate Tom Brady might do?

Could Tom Brady come out of retirement? When he was asked that question on his podcast, he gave something other than an emphatic “no.”

Asked by Jim Gray on his SiriusXM podcast about the possibility of coming out of retirement, Brady said he doesn’t anticipate it happening, but he can’t guarantee he won’t change his mind.

“You know, I’m just gonna take things as they come,” Brady said.

Brady saying he doesn’t know how he’ll feel in six months, when NFL teams are in training camp, is reminiscent of what Brett Favre said in an April 2008 interview with David Letterman, shortly after Favre announced his retirement. Favre left the door open just a crack to returning at that point, but at the start of training camp he did in fact return, and the Packers — having decided that Aaron Rodgers was their quarterback of the future — traded him to the Jets. Favre ended up playing a total of three more seasons, one with the Jets and two with the Vikings.

3194  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: February 08, 2022, 03:36:25 AM
Split decision fights is not something I like to watch and you always have some controversy with referees and fights like this, but on paper Sean Strickland won and that is what really counts.
Julian Erosa won against Steven Peterson and he got bonus for performance of the night but he won with split decision, this was the night of split wins including co-main event.
I am glad this last UFC event finished so we can move to one to watch one of the best MMA fighters in the world Israel Adesanya against Robert Whittaker!

One of the judges did not watch the fight correctly or he is a corrupt judge who was paid by someone who had made a big bet on Jack Hermansson hehehe. It should be clearly a unanimous decision for Sean Strickland. The argument would be very similar if it was declared that Keith Thurman was a split decision winner versus Mario Barrios.
3195  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NFT for money laundering? on: February 08, 2022, 02:56:27 AM
It appears that there are more people who are beginning to witness the potential for NFT and money laundering and also for other illegal activities hehehe. I saw someone create a thread on Chainalysis’ article.

In any case, the next big news on NFT and illegal activities is this will be used directly as payment for some other illegal activities like trading state secrets. I hope for the life of this Indian officer, those nude pictures are expensive NFTs hehehehehe.

Indian officer busted after trading secret info with ‘Pakistani spies’ for nude pics

An Indian Air Force captain arrested for espionage this week was lured into a “honey trap” by two women with whom he exchanged intimate photos, local media reports. The “women” turned out to be Pakistani agents.

3197  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Thurman vs Barrios - Feb 5 on: February 07, 2022, 04:11:40 AM
It appears that I was mistaken hehe. The winner for this fight will challenge the winner of Errol Spence versus Yordenis Ugas for the WBC championship. I reckon that the WBC should have given the opportunity to Boots Ennis and let Keith Thurman fight against a real welterweight. It appears someone is giving Thurman an easy fight hehe. This might not make his challenge against either Spence or Ugas appear very exciting.

@bisdak. Thank you again for the advice hehehe.

That's a wise move of Team Thurman in making a come back fight. IMO, Barrios is a B-level fighter and have not yet tested a true welterweight so making him an opponent could somehow be called a cherry picking in my view but given the inactivity of Thurman, that's a wise decision.

Thurman was sharp in this fight and i could say that one or two more tune up fights, he would be ready for Errol Spence or Crawford if he will be active this year, i mean no taking a vacation for 18 months hehe.

Congrats to all the Thurman believers in this forum  Smiley.

However, Barrios was the tune up fight and his next fight appear to be versus the winner of Spence versus Ugas for the WBC championship hehehe. Thurman made a good decision in choosing to fight for the winner of that fight who is certainly going to be Spencer. There is more money in challenging Spencer than Crawford hehehehe.

It is also very arguable if he will be ready for the 2 kings of welterweight unless he is similar to Manny Pacquiao who improved until his 40s.

At the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas, Keith Thurman made a long overdue return to action, and ‘One Time’ banked twelve rounds in a unanimous decision win against Mario Barrios at the top of a Premier Boxing Champions bill. The bout served as a WBC welterweight title eliminator.

3198  Economy / Speculation / Re: Market sentiments ? on: February 07, 2022, 02:32:18 AM
<snip>
I have seen plenty of people who are wrong, but someone this wrong? I have never seen someone this wrong before. Subprime mortgages? So, investing into crypto is similar to investing into a layered and shitty mortgage loans filled asset?

Bankers saw mortgages as something solid and everyone always pays and gathered all the bad default rated loans together and bought them in thousands together in a single paper and now they are saying that crypto is similar? How?? This guy is an idiot, there is absolutely no resemblance at all, just because bitcoin went up so much and at a high price right now (even after the fall) doesn't mean that it resembles every single bubble in the history.

However, he is not wrong because the bull market of bitcoin and the cryptospace is also the product of speculation and leverage, very much similar to subprime mortgages. We have to accept reality that adoption did not pump bitcoin from $3k to the all time high, it was leverage. Do you know how much USDT was borrowed by assumed market makers? The word market maker in this article was also used to categorize venture capital firms that have their self interest for profit, similar to Alameda Research hehehe.

3199  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trezor implements Address Ownership Proof Protocol, more regulation less privacy on: February 07, 2022, 01:47:29 AM
Trezor did not need develop AOPP. The users in Switzerland can still do the compliance requirements manually but this is annoying. I might be mistaken, however, AOPP did not change anything. It has only automated the compliance requirement and made it easier for users. This is why the public outcry might be pointed to the wrong people. It should be pointed to the government because the travel rule that they are enforcing is very intrusive and inconvenient for users.
If AOPP can be done manually or not, maybe frustrating or not, noncustodial wallets should not support it at all, they should just stay in their line rendering only noncustodial means of holding coins, Swiss people should have a custodial wallet or use custodial wallet that support AOPP for convenience but they are not in control of their coins if they use custodial wallet. Noncustodial wallets should not support anything of such that is related to privacy invasion.

However, the argument is did anything change when Trezor removed the implementation of AOPP? My argument is that nothing has changed. This public outcry is pointed to the wrong people. People who only wanted to automate wallet verification and make it easier for Swiss users. The public outcry should be pointed to the intrusiveness and the inconveniences caused by the travel rule. Also, if I am not mistaken AOPP is optional.

A state controlled newspaper - the Economic Daily - published a piece about how China needs to ban bitcoin yet again just a few weeks ago: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-12-25/china-must-close-loopholes-in-crypto-mining-ban-economic-daily

Communism always finds an enemy even where there is none - I know this well because I lived in such a political system where people went to prison for 2-3 years because they sang a forbidden song. China will therefore always continue to hunt ghosts and fight Bitcoin, not because they continue to write nonsense that has nothing to do with common sense, but because Bitcoin is a danger to them that needs to be removed.

This is a similar situation everywhere and with any other campaign against something that the politicians create to get more money and power for themselves and for their handlers hehehe. We have also witnessed the biggest of these campaigns become normalized already. These are the war on drugs and the war on terrorism. I reckon many countries have also adopted this because it has been a success in creating fud for the politicians in America.

Is the war against the cryptospace next? It is very clear that every law that will be signed for this campaign are laws that will also decrease more of our freedom and increase their control.
