321  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Siacoin Epic Monster Moon on: August 03, 2017, 11:26:07 PM
guys your think now?  sia moon? iam buy 320satoshi. Huh Huh maybe x2

As the other guy said, Sia will not go high soon. They had a lot of announcements in the past month. Wait until near the end of August.
That, to me at least, sounds like soon. Why do some people always expect it to be some sort of instant gratification.

I think the best strategy by far is to find good projects and invest in them for the long haul.
Agree? Disagree?

With this new news forget what I said. Buy Sia ASAP. This minio integration is going to lead to a lot of Sia applications quickly.
322  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: VIACOIN ($VIA) is clearly UNDERVALUED on: August 03, 2017, 11:24:56 PM
I think the problem with a lot of coins is that they simply change a bit and say they need to be in existence. I really like truly revolutionary coins like ethereum monero or IOTA. They do something really new

Yes exactly. Ethereum and Monero and IOTA are significantly different (although I have more hope in Byteball than IOTA's implementation) from Bitcoin...unlike VIA in this case.

That is why they are worth so much, because they actually offer something new and not just a simple fork.

Can't wait to see VIA fall in the next week and say "told you so".
323  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Siacoin Epic Monster Moon on: August 03, 2017, 07:27:15 PM
Good news:
Introducing S3-style file sharing for Sia through the new Minio integration
https://blog.sia.tech/introducing-s3-style-file-sharing-for-sia-through-the-new-minio-integration-bb880af2366a

This is REALLY good news!! It was already obvious that you could have a Sia <-> Web server layer, but this makes it very accessible to developers! This is the type of stuff you can quickly create archival websites out of (personal backups; video archival; document storage). Imagine storing Wikipedia and Internet Archive on Sia? Smiley
324  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: VIACOIN ($VIA) is clearly UNDERVALUED on: August 03, 2017, 07:08:30 PM
I'll help you out here. Here is Otoh posting about his portfolio: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1840789.msg19588935#msg19588935

As you can see, he's a nobody. A nobody who happens to see the potential of Viacoin and supporting the developer.

Like I said, looking forward to seeing your article. I'm sure it will be mind blowing!

Uhh, he got rich off of Bitcoin and has diversified his portfolio. Of course he will invest in anything that's having talk going on. He frickin' added IOTA. As soon as he says a crypto name I bet you see gains within the hour.

Thank you for having the decency of pointing me to some useful information - I really do appreciate it.

Heh, I don't write "mind blowing" articles but I do like to show that a lot of these coins are just fluff, and propose how they can fix themselves (or if they should just off themselves...) and mention if developers are tackling issues day-to-day.

Man don't we all wish we could be Otoh eh? Smiley

As I said earlier, I think it was wrong of me to use the term "scam", but I think pump-and-dump is accurate here. All in all I'm saying do NOT expect VIA to be around in the next 10 years. It is just a Bitcoin fork with minimal changes. Changes like "lets activate Segwit first!!!", which is just to get people riled up.
325  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: VIACOIN ($VIA) is clearly UNDERVALUED on: August 03, 2017, 06:42:41 PM
Here is the original announcement thread of Viacoin, started on July 18th 2014: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=699278.0

Segwit was supposed to be activated earlier but Romano ran into a bug that was hard to solve. Once it was solved he still needed to wait for Wang Chung to signal it. Wang was on a business trip so it took him quite a while. He tweeted about signalling for Viacoin on July 29th: https://twitter.com/f2pool_wangchun/status/891130408988942337
Do you really think a big player like Wang Chung would even bother to help Viacoin signal for Segwit if it was a pump/dump coin?

If you are into trading/altcoins and you don't know who Otoh is I probably shouldn't even bother to take you seriously. I'm really looking forward to seeing that article of yours.

"The Premium Information Service"..... Riiiiiight.

Yes, I know it was supposed to be activated earlier (about 20 days earlier than the original announcement!).

That's another thing - everyone is ok with the VIA mining pool belonging to one man? Holy shite. Why would Wang Chung help? Because he seems like a helpful guy, simple as that. Oh, and there are tons of centralized mining pools for these cryptos because they are easy money, so maybe that's a factor too!

Of all the posts I have read and altcoins I have looked into, the name "Otoh" has not come up once. Maybe he is less important than you think?

I'm confused what point you are arguing with me...I have asked these two questions:

Quote
Who the hell is Otoh?

Where is the recognition?

And neither were answered.

There is public proof of what I'm staying yet there is still HUGE disregard to what I'm saying. I'm 100% open to being wrong, but god damn you guys have to try at least! So far there has been nothing new contributed to this conversation that convinces me otherwise.

Segwit in VIA is not the dev's doing. Look at his commit history.

326  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: VIACOIN ($VIA) is clearly UNDERVALUED on: August 03, 2017, 06:02:32 PM
VIA is a fucking scam guys. I will update you in a bit, but when you look at the source code, it is fucking Bitcoin rebranded with a few parameters changed.

The guys does like 1 line changes to make it look like activity is happening.

I will have an article with screenshots to back-up my claim.

Segwit was supposed to be activated June 28th. It is 1 month later and you can see he was way off. These are just ploys to pump the price.

If it was a scam would Otoh be holding as much as he does? And would the VIA dev get so much recognition from other developers of high cap coins ?

No. Now go back to your wordpress fuckery.

Who the hell is Otoh?

Where is the recognition?

I have given you solid evidence of the work he has done - why do you refute the truth?

I guess "scam" is not the right term. VIAcoin is just pump and dump - vaporware.

Wordpress? What are you even talking about?

Lol mate I laughed way to hard at this

What in particular is funny? Mocking people without reason is nonsense.

Seriously, go read actual commit data: https://github.com/viacoin/viacoin/commits/master

VIA is not even 1 year old.

I still think bitcoin is a good investment and I think if you buy them at its current price you could still profit a lot from it if you go for long term. Just because of its split doesnt mean it is going down, and I will be waiting for bitcoin to go to the moon by next year. Hold on to them still and wait for it to moon.

Exactly. This fork means nothing...Patience is key here. The 8mb increase is ridiculous, when we will get a better technological outcome for Bitcoin. People just wanted to rush this.
330  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin is not a good investment anymore (Read more) on: August 02, 2017, 07:05:52 PM
I don't think people realize:

1. Bitcoin is updateable
2. Bitcoin is being augmented with technologies
2a. Lightning networks for rapid micro payments
2b. Smart contracts via ColoredCoins and specialized sidechains (RSK, ETH) that can create a 2way peg with Bitcoin.
3. Bitcoin will only get easier to use as companies fill the need for Cryptocurrency <-> Fiat conversions, and more localbitcoin trades.

There is a good demographic of where Bitcoin stands compared to Gold, Fiat, Visa, etc, and it has not surpassed any of these yet (it is about 1/20th the way there to passing one).

1 BTC will be worth lots....We are breaking $3,000 USD. Without a doubt we will see sigmoid growth curve, where the adoption is slow, then grows exponentially and then tappers off.

This should be easy to estimate...someone just needs to plot some data and use some interpolation.
331  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Pillar, InsureX...? on: August 02, 2017, 12:44:39 AM
> Insurex is a classic tokenmarket scam.

Could you explain, Ab-Soul? From what I understand InsureX had a badly organized crowdfund. They had some technical issues (a phishing site appeared right before the crowdfund), but resolved it by giving the scammed people tokens. This builds trust. I have also looked at who is running this thing - they are some established people in the business world. They aimed to give out 100,000,000 of their token (leaving 30,000,000 to themselves) but quit it short because of the scam - the best move they could make. They said they made enough and you can see exactly how much they did make (about $100,000). It was probably just funding for 1-2 developers or 1 subject matter expert (Solidarity developer).

The best part is their product is simple and has a clear goal. They plan release at the end of Q4 2017, which is realistic for what they are offering. These are people with big money.

I am going to buy some InsureX when I see some more news. I have investigated their token on ethscan and see that there is movement. People have said they have "gone cold" but I doubt it. This product is a measly 2 MONTHS old. You might as well flip a coin right now, but I trust the backgrounds of the funders/founders.

If anyone reading has InsureX and doesn't want it...consider contacting me. I will buy it a little under what you paid for, but we will be using some escrow system and not 1-1 trade. Or I guess just sell it on hitbtc.com and I can buy them there.

Well I definitely tell you that both projects are backed by people with a shit-tonne of money.

Pillar seems like a bullshit coin. The founder, David Siegel, has created another coin called TokenFactory which is vaporware and a ponzi scheme. Uses people from sites like elancer. Their "technology" is fricking coloredcoins basically.

InsureX seems like a better investment.

IOTA and Ethereum clasic for example

1. IOTA is dead on arrival practically. I would rather suggest Byteball...I explain why IOTA is basically not useful here: http://currypto.club/hello-world/iota/blockless-cryptocurrency-disappointing

2. ETH Classic just doesn't have the force or momentum behind it. ETH will continue to kill it (which is really unfortunate, but we have to accept this reality and move forward). We should push for ETH to adopt the ideology ETH Classic users want.
336  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Byteball - ICO Review on: July 31, 2017, 07:45:11 PM
How is this objective, when you've only given it a positive view? Are you telling me Byteball is flawless?

I just read over their project page and some source code. Byteball itself is interesting because it is DAG-based, just like IOTA. Other than that though, it offers everything Bitcoin offers. Why is Byteball an advantage over Bitcoin?

Here is my own take on IOTA, which is similar to Byteball.

http://currypto.club/hello-world/iota/blockless-cryptocurrency-disappointing

If you are going to say "smart contracts", well, Byteball uses oracles for these, just as Bitcoin can too: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Contract#Example_4:_Using_external_state
337  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [CURRYPTO Public Issue #2] IOTA - Investigating the blockless coin. on: July 29, 2017, 04:02:55 PM
It really sounds like you could use Ethereum or a colored coin. Why not check out Gamecoin?
thanks, I'll check it out

As I've said, blockless does not give you any advantages.
Does blockless means feeles transactions? If it does - it is an advantage.

Blockless does not necessarily mean feeless. And even if it does, how is it an advantage over blockchain coins that don't require a fee? lol

If you build something valueable, they will come.

Currently I'm using my 2 most valueable assets: my ability to write software and interpret software. I am writing articles on mysterious altcoins to debunk them (check out my signature). Some are made public, but the majority are private. I want to show I am offering something valueable, but need support to continue to produce (currently I'm asking for a measly $10 for a months worth of access to these articles - users are free to save them for personal use even. I am super liberal with my work).

The software is monitoring software, mostly for Poloniex. I will probably incorporate Bittrex as well. There are two:

Global monitoring: this is monitoring the overall state of these exchanges
Targetted monitoring: monitoring a specific cryptocurrency.

Why no one has responded - it is Friday, so there are not many people around. I would try other forums (even 4chan and reddit). Currently I'm bitcointalk exclusive, mostly because I want this to remain the central place for cryptocurrency discussion.

I am hoping word of mouth, and contributing to discussions like this, will help attract people to me.

Good luck! It is a tough go.
