Fascinating thread on Twitter (no wonder I can't get anything done - lol).

"...so far, the primary “commerce” use case emerging for Bitcoin is to buy *other digital assets*"

What happens to Bitcoin and Ethereum when 90% of those digital assets fail?

If you check out the thread, ignore the bruised egos of the guys freaking out that he had the audacity to refer to Satoshi as a women (in lighthearted humor, no doubt).

@adamludwin Mar 22

1/Satoshi said Bitcoin was for “commerce on the internet” (the first four words of the Bitcoin whitepaper). Turns out she was right. But not in the way most people think – and probably not even in the way she imagined.

2/A naive interpretation of “commerce on the internet” is to imagine traditional e-commerce merchants accepting Bitcoin as a method of payment. That hasn’t happened for a bunch of reasons and still may not. Time will tell.

3/Another interpretation is that Bitcoin was designed for commerce on the dark web. While that use case happens, Bitcoin isn’t actually well-suited to it due to its transparency. And dark web commerce is now dwarfed by another type of commerce that's become the dominant use case.

4/And no, I’m not talking about Bitcoin as a “store of value.” There’s nothing wrong with thinking of Bitcoin as digital gold or investing/HODL’ing/trading it, but that’s not what “commerce” means (at least not to me).

5/So what *are* people buying with Bitcoin that dwarfs its use in traditional e-commerce and on the dark web? Remarkably, the answer is something that DIDN’T EVEN EXIST when the Bitcoin paper was published and ONLY EXISTS NOW *because* it was published

6/The answer is that, so far, the primary “commerce” use case emerging for Bitcoin is to buy *other digital assets* (re-read prior tweet to see why this is kind of mind blowing).

7/In just the last couple years, billions of dollars in purchases of digital assets have been made with Bitcoin (and Ether).

8/So either Satoshi is/was playing n-dimensional chess and knew Bitcoin would become the settlement currency for an ecosystem of digital assets that Bitcoin itself would catalyze through its example...

9/...or, more likely, Bitcoin and the broader cryptocurrency ecosystem has giving rise to an emergent “commerce” use case that no one, including Satoshi, could have predicted.

10/Yet this is exactly what any student of technology SHOULD have expected (hindsight is 20/20!). New mediums rarely succeed by transforming the old. They give rise to the new.

11/This notion of emergence has been talked about by people like @cdixon @fredwilson @naval @cburniske and others (hat tips to them!) But it’s no longer just about future potential, we can already see a full cycle where an emergent phenomenon has begun to fulfill Satoshi's vision

12/Ultimately, the implication for everyone in the crypto/blockchain space is to continue to look ahead to (and create) *new forms of value* that are possible now that the internet has an open, bourgeoning economic infrastructure. [end]

Thank you for sharing, Chase. It's thought provoking and even a little entertaining.

Most interesting part of the white paper to me was finding out what happened with the DTR-1, had been curious about that.

That is a good reminder to wait for the right time before going all out. "Do the right thing, the right way, at the right time."

To make sure that we are all on the same page, I wrote a book. That is our blueprint and road-map. When we all have the same mindset - sharing the same vision, we will be unstoppable.

We are ready. Let's all pitch in and help to get the words out.

DNotes Global, Inc. Releases White Paper Outlining Bold Vision for the Future

https://dcebrief.com/dnotes-global-inc-releases-white-paper-outlining-bold-vision-for-the-future/

Amazing. DNotes path can not be outlined any more clearly, and I firmly believe that as an entire organization we will all be true to our words. It's been 4 years since I became involved in DNotes and although the quality and quantity of work being accomplished has increased exponentially, DNotes remains true to the initial vision; creating a global digital currency.

It was a very wise move to avoid rushing onto exchanges, as many of them are being prosecuted in their respective jurisdictions. Now a good majority of cryptocurrencies/tokens have a sizeable portion of their total supply tied up on some questionable exchanges. Fortunately DNotes has sidestepped this issue for the past couple years, after we had some owners lose Note on Cryptsy and Mintpal. It was a tough lesson to learn, I lost some DNotes myself, but it was probably better to learn that lesson early on than when the stakes are much higher. Stakeholders would be wise to take full advantage of DNotesvault and the added security it can provide over this generation of cryptocurrency exchanges. I have no doubt that we are all doing the right thing by protecting our currency until such time as there are fully accountable exchanges.

Now as for the Proof of Stake side of the equation, we are not the first, there have been many pioneers before us who have been working tirelessly to perfect it, and DNotes is adding some important innovations in 2.0. What DNotes has done is a great accomplishment, considering that Ethereum announced they would be switching to POS well before us, and our developers got it done first!!!  Grin

Thank you, Brandon. Very well said.

It has been an amazing journey with a well defined path to mass adoption of DNotes. We believe that we can make it happen and took it on as the challenge of our generation. This is DNotes turn to shine. Give it us a helping hand and get the words out.

Investment Fraud & Schemes  -  https://dnotesedu.com/2018/03/investment-fraud-schemes/

Thank you, Chase. The DNotesEDU team has been doing an amazing job. I have been sharing many of the great articles on my social media as often as I can. I hope others will do the same. Education is invaluable to investors, especially in our new emerging industry with higher participation of bad actors than I have ever seen in my lifetime.

Hey Nele,

Always happy to see you and thanks for all your support and confidence in DNotes.

This is a big train that has always been on the same track. It is starting out slowly until it begins to pick up momentum. We are beginning to feel that gathering strength. I trust that we will have a great year. Thanks to everyone.

Congratulations on the update!

Great job everyone! And on time as well! That's what teamwork does for a project!

Thank you, RJF.

I am very proud of what our team has accomplished over the last four years.

Anyone who has a chance to read our pitch deck and white paper, to be released in the coming days, will understand that DNotes is much more than just another digital currency. We have a defined path towards mass adoption. Everything that we have built and building will be done along that path in support of our vision of an inclusive trusted digital currency for global commerce. We are committed to do it right and do it well.

What You Need to Know About DNotes Global, Inc.’s Reg. A+ Mini IPO under Title IV Tier 2.

First, it is done independent of DNotes. It is not an ICO and does not involve any sale of DNotes tokens.

I wish that ICOs could be structured and conducted in ways that meet existing security laws, either through registration or exemption. Unfortunately, without significant changes to existing laws, it is simply not possible. To date, the issuers of ICO tokens are exclusively decentralized entities without any central authority. Moreover, the money collected goes to individuals, partnerships or incorporated companies that claim to be working on some great ideas presented in a white paper. Meanwhile, the investors have no ownership or voting rights in the private entity that received the investment.

That is a real conundrum – though it should come as no surprise to anyone. Technology almost always outpaces regulations, and ICOs are a clear case in which the law has some catching-up to do. So far, more than $4 billion has been raised through ICOs around the world. Unfortunately, none of those token sales have properly registered with the SEC.  According to the SEC Chairman, Jay Clayton, “Investors should understand that to date no initial coin offerings have been registered with the SEC. https://www.sec.gov/news/public-statement/statement-clayton-2017-12-11

A Different Approach

To deal with this conundrum, DNotes Global Inc. will approach capital formation in a different way. The good news is that ICOs are not the only way to raise the funds needed to advance project goals. For DNotes Global, we believe that Reg. A+ Mini-IPO Title IV Tier 2 is a superior option, and one that won’t run afoul of current laws or SEC regulations. That’s why this capital formation option has been a part of our planning process for more than two years.

Perhaps there will come a time when ICOs will no longer be the subject of such intense controversy. Eventually, the SEC and other regulatory bodies will almost certainly develop the right framework to ensure that those funding mechanisms are in full compliance with existing rules and regulations. Until that time, though, DNotes will continue to follow the road less traveled.

DNotes Global, Inc. is a “C” corporation, incorporated in the state of Delaware in April 2016. We are in the preparation stages of two funding rounds. The first round involves Regulation D Rule 506 (c) Private Memorandum Offering to be filed with the SEC within 15 days from the date of the first sale, only available to accredited investors. The new capital will be used to support our continued software development and the cost of our second funding round – Reg. A+ Mini-IPO Tier 2 to raise $50 million from accredited and non-accredited investors worldwide. No investment will be accepted until our application is “qualified” by the SEC. That may not happen until the second half of 2018.

It is important to note that the funding involves the sale of common stock shares registered or exempt with the SEC.
Please refer to our white paper and offering circular as them become available.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Thanks, Chase!

Happy st. Patrick's day!

For over three years DNotes has maintained a low profile waiting for our industry, its underpinning technologies, and legal compliance issues to mature and settle. We still have a long way to go. Great uncertainties and tough challenges still remain.

While waiting, we work tirelessly in building a fully integrated ecosystem, painstakingly designed to shepherd DNotes to be the inclusive trusted digital currency to gain mass adoption in global commerce. We believe that to realize that vision, DNotes must be a purposeful digital currency that is inclusive and beneficial to everyone irrespective of social status or financial standing.

The next phase of DNotes is about to begin. The launching of DNotes 2.0 in the coming weeks is a signal to our industry that we are committed to all things that matter but doing them the right way at the right time. Be sure to read our white paper scheduled for release soon.

Happy St Patrick’s Day to you all.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/bankers-criticize-crypto-always-goes-back-to-the-same-argument-intrinsic-value

Digital currencies arn't backed by anything.  As this author states, neither is much of any financial product.  DNotes will be changing the way crypto currencies are looked at.

Thank you for sharing, Dan. This is a great article on digital currency lack of intrinsic value. Understandably, it has become a convenient default argument for some. In view of the sky-high valuation and ferocious volatilities we have seen in our industry, that argument is not groundless. Well, we can blame that on the inherent human tendency of greed and fear – pushing value and the lack of it to both extremes of the spectrum – speculatively, too high or too low.

We believe that there is a middle ground. To argue that digital currency has zero intrinsic value and, therefore, a fraud because it can be worthless or worth next to nothing is a display of pure ignorance.  Over time, they will be proven wrong. There is significant value in our industry. Exploiting the true value of our industry and its underling technologies has been among our most demanding strategic challenges.

The intrinsic value is not the same as market value. Market value is established based on what the next buyer is willing to pay, greatly influenced by supply and demand and sometimes justified by the greater fool theory.

“The greater fool theory states that the price of an object is determined not by its intrinsic value, but rather by irrational beliefs and expectations of market participants. A price can be justified by a rational buyer under the belief that another party is willing to pay an even higher price.” Greater fool theory - Wikipedia.

The intrinsic value, often call fundamental value, is the actual value of an associated asset based on an underlying perception of its true value in terms of both tangible and intangible factors. DNotes 25% (before dilution) ownership of DNotes Global, Inc. is a game changer in our industry. Given the strong likelihood that DNotes Global, as be a well-managed corporation with high growth and profitability potential, the default argument that digital currency has no intrinsic value will not be applicable to DNotes. That alone will differentiate us from the rest of the pack. Of course, you must be convinced that we are doers, not dreamers. It is best that you reach your own conclusion after you have a chance to study our white paper in detail. Stay tuned.

We are just about ready for the prototype release and may adjust CRISP to a daily payout so everyone can at least see it happening. There will be a windows build, and source code available for linux users to compile on their system. We do not intend to have mac build for the prototype.

The primary focus for those who are interested in testing will be regression testing (testing old functionality to ensure it still works as intended). There will be some documentation available and a checklist of functionality to test. There will be Prototype DNotes 2.0 coins available and you will be able to post your address or send me an email.

This is great news. I trust that more people will come to appreciate that we are uniquely different. We are always committed to do the right with the best in class mindset. The launch of DNotes 2.0 will mark the beginning of our strive to be an innovative technology leader in our industry. Our continued focus is on DNotes mass adoption as an inclusive trusted digital currency. Our white paper will give our supporters a glimpse of the various pathways towards mass acceptance.

Dear DNotes team. For some time now I'm watching your progress and have high hopes for your success, because you seem to put a lot of effort on it and make everything by the rules and are not rushing things and also have some great ideas.

But, my concern is that overthinking and going forward by small steps can be double edged sword. In the mean time the competition is not resting and can overtake from left and right. Then all great ideas will be obsolete if another similar solution will already take place instead of DNotes.

Did you consider expanding your team and by that speed up process a little? Also I think that you should relly put more focus on advertising at least at release DNotes 2.0 if not before. It does not help if you have good...even great product if not a lot people know about it and advantages it offer. I think that for example we can look little back in history what happened with Betamax in competition with VHS. Today good marketing and social media activity is unfortunately essential for product to succeed and gain mass acceptance.

When, for example today I take a look on Coinmarketcap trading volume in last 24 hours it had been less than 3.000 USD. That means that practically no one is buying/trading with DNotes. I think that main reason could be that many people in the community are not even aware of DNotes and that worries me a little.
Also it wold be essential to get DNotes on more exchanges. if you would be able to get to some of more popular ones like Bittrex that would be great step ahead I think.

In any case this are just my thoughts and I wish you all the best, especially because I am also holding some of DNotes and if you succeed so do I Cool Cheesy

Thanks for those words mate i want to tell that long time ago but I cant expres my self like I want to because i dont speak English so well. Thanks again and many thanks to the dev  team for the hard work so many years.Good luck!

Thank you, MECHETO. I remember you and understand you very well. Just need to be patience for a little longer. We are very deliberate and strategic in everything that we do. We may be the last to be rewarded by doing the right things but that is what differentiate us from others.

Thank you, Amadeus82. Those are very reasonable comments and respectfully presented. We appreciate that.

We are adding some finishing touches to our white paper. It will be released with a lot of social media support, including press releases. Together with the launching of DNotes 2.0 and our funding rounds using Reg. D 506 (c) and A+ Mini-IPO, I am certain that media attention on DNotes will increase noticeably soon.

Regarding getting DNotes listed on more exchanges - that is not a long-term concern. I am certain that DNotes will be widely listed within a year. However, short-term may be a tougher call.  Most of the exchanges are going through some challenging time due to the state of our industry and regulatory challenges.

The ICO craze has caused some real damages and will lead to some industry adjustments. We are positioned to survive the test of time. When the dust finally settled, people will notice us. Meanwhile our vision is clear – mass adoption of DNotes as the inclusive trusted digital currency in global commerce. The path to get there has been defined. Stayed tuned to follow our white paper closely.

We encourage all our supporters to pitch in a little that they can. Help like and share our posts. After four long years of relentless and tireless efforts, our community deserve a lot of credit. I can’t be happier for all of us that our turn is right around the corner. Get ready.
338  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: DNotes 2.0 - Bridging the Gap Between the Centralized and Decentralized World on: March 13, 2018, 09:02:38 PM
DNotes 2.0, CRISPs, and DNotesVault are our first foundation blocks to enable DNotes stakeholders to save and spend DNotes like money. Subject to getting regulatory approvals, with a full-service exchange, bank, and partner banks, DNotes stakeholders would be issued a multi-currency card that could be used just like, money, credit and debit card anywhere DNotes is accepted around the world. That is the power of our fully integrated ecosystems.

Fully integrated systems are going to be huge! Right now no one has them. I would be thrilled with a debit card that would allow me to instantly (and not too expensively) spend my DNotes at a normal store without having to first go through an exchange (right now Cryptopia is the only option I'm aware of and they really stink) and then sending the BTC to Coinbase.

That will be especially fun when the DNotes I bought for a few cents are worth several dollars!

I see your point, Wiser. Fully integrated systems consisting of an inclusive trusted digital currency with global banking and financial systems are the vital components for a digital currency in gaining mass adoption. This is a complex machine we have been building from ground up. After four years we have built a great foundation for the next phase. Everything that we have accomplished is verifiable. We believe that our white paper, once available for general release, will help a lot of people to better understand our vision and the strategic path we have chosen.

These are being done step by step, with more tasks done in parallel, especially when the funding is in place. For now lets get back to the multi-currency card. We like to see it as "Your Liquid Asset Card" with DNotes being your primary asset. Being an account holder at DNotesVault, you assign a pre-approved limit as the spendable limit. It can always be adjusted up or down. Our banking and financial networks will do all the conversion for you, anywhere in the world, where our approved list of fiat and digital currencies are accepted.

This is how we see the future. It will take years to built out the essential infrastructure and be in compliance of multiple layers of regulations.

Good Afternoon Dyna,

Im quite excited that you are launching the new platform next week.

I was following this thread about the other coins doing the same thing as Dnotes.

ETC is already availible on centra wallet and also planning that can use it as a visa card. Centra being the payment gateway and also uquid.  Are you saying that its going to take years for notes to catch up? shurely if these commodoties have already passed these regulatory detils it should not take that long for dnote to do so too.

I have invested a bit into dnotes and look forward to seeing the white paper.

Welcome MarkUK1!

It looks like these are prepaid cards. These are good interim solutions. Ones that we can look into using while we are building out our system and network, as well as just another payment option. What I could not find is information on how the exchange occurs, at what point of the transaction the exchange occurs, what fees were involved for the conversion, what fees are involved in the transaction, who is doing the backend conversion, where they are allowed or not (uquid did a pretty good job defining where they are available for use).

However, these are not a fully integrated financial services platforms as Dyna was talking about. A fully integrated financial services platform will be much more efficient, convenient, and flexible with a wider range of services and much less middle men taking cuts of each transaction. This type of integration will be required to truly reach mass adoption and make digital currency competitive in the existing marketplace.

Welcome MarkUK1!

We approach things differently. We are not about just doing something to gain some excitement and get the price of the coin up.

The fully integrated financial systems mentioned in our roadmap will take years to buildout in collaboration with many partnerships. There are many parts to it with a lot regulatory and compliance issues to overcome. For DNotes to gain mass adoption in global commerce it is very important that we take our time to do things right.

I trust that you will enjoy reading our white paper. Our team has done an amazing job. It should reflect well on us and our vision.

Thanks, for your support.

Hey Wiser, might I remind you that over 95% of the content on https://dnotesedu.com is and has historically been written by women. It is a great first step in getting a basic understanding of cryptocurrency. Don't think we have forgotten all the great material you wrote for the DNotesEDU app in 2015, you made a great contribution in the evolution of this industry!

Thank you very much! I didn't think you'd forgotten, and it was a fun project Smiley

Great discussion. I can objectively say that both you and Chase have made significant contributions to our industry and to DNotes. We are most grateful for that.

Our industry is more than just a little different. It is uniquely challenging, confusing, and intimidating at times. It takes time but it will eventually take its course to settle down in a more normal state.

DNotes is committed to be an inclusive digital currency as we drive toward mass adoption. It makes sense for us to have founded CryptoMoms to encourage and assist women to participate in the crypto currency space. We are still firmly committed to the cause as mass adoption of digital currency will not be achievable without the full participation of women.

However, I believe that the remaking of CryptoMoms later this year should seek to expand our core mission to be more expansive and inclusive of others who could benefit from this technology revolution. We welcome any ideas you may have.

I hear you about the industry being uniquely challenging, confusing, and intimidating at times. For the record, I want to say that I took to it like a duck to water (or like DNotes to a block chain). I have bumped into a few rude replies to questions I've posed, and been burned by a few scams (like who hasn't?) but overall, my experience has been positive. I have never felt that I was discriminated against or anything like that. I think the main thing I've encountered that I would change is that our industry seems very heavy on the speculation/pump and dump scene, and those things seem to be overrepresented in the media, and well, that's just not me. I'd really like to make more people aware of the other aspects of our industry, like the amazing creativity and innovation, how easy it is to trade your skills for just about any crypto you want, the fun and interesting and talented people I've met along the way, and the overall excitement of being part of something cutting edge. I really believe the industry is very open to everyone, but because of certain things being overrepresented in the media, a lot of people who might otherwise try it out might decide it's not for them because the stuff the media talks about isn't interesting to them.

I should have been clearer in my little rant yesterday. It's so easy to say things like "the industry this" or "the industry that" when 90% of it follows that pattern of behavior, but not everyone is like that. DNotes stands head and shoulders above the crowd in delivering a message that we want everyone included in this journey. Is it safe to say we have done more to not only welcome, but actually help people with little or no tech skill, get into cryptocurrency? I think so. "Disconnect between developers and users"? - Not at DNotes! The proof lies not in what you say, but what you do. DNotes Vault - 2014. I have yet to meet anyone from outside cryptocurrency (with few tech skills), that would even consider downloading a wallet to store their coins in. They felt more comfortable storing them on an exchange - scary! The fact that there so few currencies that have anything like DNV, says a lot about how many people from outside the industry they have actually reached.

You are right wiser, it is easy to forget the good when it gets drowned out by the bad.  Smiley

I sort of fell into it too, talking about the industry in general, as in outside of DNotes. I sort of forgot for a minute that actually, we at DNotes are industry leaders. We set the pace and direction for how the industry will go and pan out moving forward. It's just that the rest of the world hasn't yet figured that out. But it's true. All this planning and foundation building which isn't putting us in the limelight right now, but which will eventually cause us to be recognized as industry leaders really truly is going to make a huge impact.

I agree with both of you that, on balance, there are a lot of amazing things happening in our industry. But there are certainly days, when things are challenging – causing doubts and confusion. Perhaps, because of the enormous scope and potential scale of our industry there is a significantly larger share of “the good, the bad, and the evil” than we have ever seen in any industry. Some cleaning up is a good thing.

I am proud to say that with your help, DNotes has been steadfast in our commitment to create a unified culture of inclusiveness, trust, respect, and appreciation for all collaborative contributions. Yes, we are leading by showing, and that "will eventually cause us to be recognized as industry leaders" and ultimately going to make a huge impact in helping to shape our industry for the common good.

For DNotes to gain mass acceptance, we must remain purposeful and inclusive. We are getting very close to the point where we will have the platform and the podium to reach a very large audience worldwide. We must use the opportunity to encourage and assist everyone worldwide to participate and benefit from it. I believe that this is a generational opportunity. And, this is our best chance to help change the world.

CryptoMoms is scheduled for a complete makeover and rebranding, towards the later part of this year, with a lot more help for women and everyone else. Personally, I like to see that we go big and make it a global platform for many things relevant and beneficial in this digital age. We encourage everyone to comment and share their ideas.

Chase, you raise some really good points. Honestly, you bring up the beef I've had with feminism and the way women's advancement has been handled in general in recent times. I'm really not trying to be political. What I see is that women are warmly invited to get involved in the "men's world" in terms of work opportunities and ways to get recognition and so forth, but first they have to essentially become men. So, in the cryptocurrency industry that means among other things geeking out about the technology.

I personally have no issues with getting involved in male dominated fields (I'm here, right?). I also work for the Catholic Church which a lot of outsiders think of as male dominated (though it's really more nuanced than that). But wherever I place myself and contribute, I'm going to do it as a woman, because that is who I am. More fundamentally, I'm going to do it as me. That is more important to me than recognition.

So, it's possible that a big reason we women really don't care for the recognition afforded in the cryptocurrency industry is that we feel it comes at a price, one we're simply not willing to pay.

I think I'm pretty typical in the sense that I really don't have much of a motivation to get into the nuts and bolts of the technology itself. I will learn what I need to know to do what I want to do. But I recently hit a point where I had greater technology needs, and I needed expertise. Rather than study it myself, I reached out to a good friend of mine who is into all this stuff and we worked out a deal where he handles my high technology for me (running my DMD masternode, for example), and I pay him. And it works great. It frees me up to do the things I'd rather be doing, and he gets to geek out and have fun, and make some money. In other words, it plays to both our strengths and inclinations.

I remember back when Paycoin was a thing, the founder Josh Garza said that his wife had told him that she wasn't going to mess with it unless it was easier to use than her credit card, and that's always stuck with me (even though Paycoin sadly went the way of many dead cryptos). There have been times when I've had some issue with a wallet and reached out for help, and was given a list of steps to do in order to get it working again. And I'd think: OK, I can do this list of steps, but how many people really are going to go through that trouble just to get to their money? Mass adoption of any crypto won't happen until wallets just work and no one needs to think about them. I think women are generally quicker to understand this than men, though there are certainly exceptions.
