321  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [HVC] Heavycoin - CPU-only, Ultra-secure, Decentralized Voting on: March 09, 2014, 05:22:54 PM
anyone know why i can't get the hvc.1gh miner working? it doesnt seem to do anything...i'm using WinXP 32-bit Pro:

minerd.exe -a heavy -v 512 -o stratum+tcp://hvc.1gh.com:5333 -u <wallet> -p <password>

Try vote 1024. The pool might be blocking low votes.

You also have the wrong server address. It should be hvcpool.1gh.com:5333

hcv.1gh is the web URL

thanks for the info but still no difference. I tried the latest cpuminer with the -a sha256d option and it seems to run fine, obviously doesnt' work for HVC, so it seems that it might be something with the 'heavy' option.

Are you using the software from their page?

try having your password as one word if you didnt already, that made the miner not work for me initially. might not help but thought I would mention it.

nobody needs to, just like u dont need to mine bitcoin or litecoin. its just a very popular coin
doesnt mean you have to bother it mate

You can't compare it with bitcoin or litecoin.

Heavycoin was a good before to the launch. Then we see how much the owner care for it's own coin. Sorry but it is not a right to get 170+BTC and not care to have all things works at the launch. Have so much owners that not make a profit of 170+BTC and care for their coins. For only 1 btc he can hire some developer that make things works.

You hear some ppl that pay for their coins still not receive them.

So how exactly much popular is this coin? And compare with btc and ltc is not on a place.

did he compare it? no he didn't you dumb cunt. he just said you dont have to bother with it if you dont want, he also gave bitcoin and litecoin as examples of other coins you can mine at your own volition or not bother with. Also hes right it is a very popular coin considering how old it is, so in short, fuck off!

me and my friend working on dev a gpu miner for this Cheesy.... price would be around 2 btc

nice, trying to be a cunt and ruin a coin, you are so cool.

im getting 0.968mh/s with my 2x12 core xeon pc and my i7 quad core laptop.

I reckon the top miner has around 11000-13000 cores

actually forget my last post, seems it was an anomaly, however what does it mean when it is currenblocktx:1 rather than 0?

this is f..ing  joke ? 8h mining and nothing?
 nothing to doo for me

I mined over 8 hours solo on a quad core starting at a diff of  0.00012207, and no coins.  I've stopped mining now, just waiting on the pools.

don't worry dude, the difficulty has adjusted downwards and if it makes you feel better i've only found 1 block from 2x12 core xeons and 1xi7 quad core.
328  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [HVC] Heavycoin - CPU-only, Ultra-secure, Decentralized Voting on: March 08, 2014, 09:27:42 PM
Who said that this coin has to be successful and the price will be higher than the IPO
Chances are the same for loss and gain

Well...  miners don't usually care whether they are selling below IPO...  as long as they are making profit.

What will happen when the heavy hash rate miners suck up most of the HVC though?

With Heavycoin...  as opposed to other cryptos...  they will have the option to vote for a block size reward of 1...  while hashing away!    Wink

Nice speculation, the market dictate the price and this falls

It kind of speaks volumes that the price ends up falling.  Delayed Launch and no support from the Developers.  For crying out loud, it took TWO FREAKING HOURS for them to upload the wallets which don't even work.  This is how they behave on LAUNCH, then how will they behave later on?   Let's use some common sense here.  You have to be on crack to think this coin is going anywhere.  At least the GPUCoin developer had the decency to offer refunds to the IPO investors after he screwed up.

delays aren't fatal, the coin is still unique and there is still cash to be thrown behind marketing etc. in fact the calamitous launch i'm viewing as a strong buying opportunity.

for those of you who think people are selling cheap Smiley... Buy some coins at www.cryptoaltex.com  and spread the word, if you have any issues please contact us on irc freenode..#cryptoaltex or via https://cryptoaltex.freshdesk.com

If you enjoy your experience please spread the word and any nice comments on the forums and other places would be much appreciated.

don't worry i'm sucking up as much HVC as humanly possible.
330  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [HVC] Heavycoin - CPU-only, Ultra-secure, Decentralized Voting on: March 08, 2014, 09:19:55 PM
the market does dictate the price but essentially the price is based on it being a solo mineable coin only at present. I feel Mr Market may take a somewhat different view once there is widespread marketing, pool mining available etc.
331  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [HVC] Heavycoin - CPU-only, Ultra-secure, Decentralized Voting on: March 08, 2014, 09:07:13 PM
look the devs could have buggered off if they were just gonna take the money, they haven't and this coin is unique. I full expect that money will predominantly be used to market this coin and improve the community and as such it should be seen as a unique coin with a bit of capital behind the project. This can only mean good things, be contrarian, buy low now while idiots sell as this coin has a big future.

I think he was telling the guy who was asking originally to sleep rather than hang around waiting for the pools. That's how I read it anyway. plus after he said that i've had my ipo coins and a couple of messages from the dev.

335  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [HVC] Heavycoin - CPU-only, Ultra-secure, Decentralized Voting on: March 08, 2014, 06:31:56 PM
devs any news when the prodecdure 2 guys will get their ipo coins?

thanks

We've got quite a few (actually probably 100+ pending tasks), so expect them to be distributed over the new few days, as we catch up.

from the ipo

"Heavycoin IPO investors will be paid their HVC stakes instantly the moment the Heavycoin genesis block is released on March 8th, as soon as the network is launched and mining starts. There will be no lengthy waiting period nor will there be a manual, error-prone disbursement of funds. It will be an automatic process leveraging the genesis block. Investors who want to take part in the IPO must follow one of the two official IPO procedures below."

I hope you were only kidding in your previous post that we have to wait a few days.

Since I asked that question I have received my IPO coins.

96 Cores running on 4 machines, since difficulty 1.2

Nada.  Getting 150k hash per machine, but no found blocks.

730 cores , found only 2 blocks (started at block 150)

OK people...  is it me...  or are HVCs going to be much more valuable than we all thought?     Kiss

...please let the code be solid...

Block Reward Voting: HeavyCoin

Innovative coins are rare, but now I have found an interesting one: HeavyCoin. One very interesting twist is that the miners vote on the block reward. But there is more.
Hash algo    SHA-256 + Keccak-512 + Grøstel-512 + BLAKE-512
Mining    HEFTY1 (novel hash function, claims CPU-only)
Premine    1-2%
Difficulty retargeting    Temporal Retargeting (goes beyond Gravity Well)
Block reward    0-1024 / 2min  (voted upon!)
Developers    Competent, Engaged

HeavyCoin

HeavyCoin Logo

The hash-mining algorithm HEFTY1 is a change to the usual SHA256/Scrypt, which means the common mining infrastructure cannot be applied. This gives a little head start against Multipools and other coin hoppers. They claim CPU-only. I see no reason why it cannot be ported to GPU. They seem to understand hashing algorithms better than I do, though.

They did a small premine, but as I said:  it gives more weight to the “trust into developers” aspect. So let us talk about the developers.

There are two core developers: keccak512 and nomisugi. They provide substantial documentation about HeavyCoin, which builds trust. They provide reasons for their design which shows competency. The code is not yet published on Github, only the website is. So I cannot comment on the code quality so far. Essentially, this is as good as it gets. Thumbs up.

Difficulty retargeting is also different. They do not use the Gravity Well, but they claim to have an even better mechanism called Temporal Retargeting. Where the Gravity Well requires one block solving to adapt, Temporal Retargeting claims to adapt within 3 hours even if no block is solved. This would be quite an improvement.

While “security” is a nice buzzword, which all coins claim because they use SHA256 hashing. HeavyCoin tries to actually improve upon other coins by combining multiple hash functions. Quark also tried this, but failed to actually improve security due to the way the combination works. With HeavyCoin, if one hash function is broken there are still 3 more which ensure security. So far the security of SHA256 is no problem in practice, but it might be in 10 years, so this improvement is a nice addition.

After the subtle innovations, HeavyCoin also has very visible one: Miners can vote upon the block reward. While there is an upper bound, the mining reward adapts to community consensus. Compared to the usual hard-coded block-halving approach, this moves some power and responsibility from the developers to the miners. It is more democratic and I heartily welcome this idea.

Conclusion: Innovative, Good Developers. Big recommendation.

On the March 8th HeavyCoin will launch. I will mine it. They are also doing an IPO until March 3rd, if this is your thing.

By the way, according to the secret formula, the initial price for 1 HVC is 1800–3600 Satoshi.

that last bit of the article implies they may be worth at least $1 each

got to say I think this is an excellent coin, regardless of any launch problems its a unique coin which cant be mined by gpus.

anyone who missed the IPO can get in on HVC at close to IPO rates now, lol

Well if they're selling for low then its time to buy and sell later when it's high

looks like some buyers are filtering in now @ www.cryptoaltex.com

yeah i'm one of them
lol
