Dear Groestlcoin community!

We are proceeding with a hardfork at block #100,000 (which is approximately in 5 days) with security improvements and DGWv3 switch.
New wallets will be posted shortly on the main website and here.

Github repository has been updated and pool operators and exchanges (currently Mintpal and Poloniex, others will be notified shortly) have been notified.

Thanks

It was my 7th attempt to set up a Diamond mining pool.

It failed again.

I ask Diamond devs or danbi for help.

NOMP always says "Daemon instance 0 rejected a supposedly valid block".

I have the latest NOMP source, I have compiled 2.0.1 daemon from your repo myself and even redownloaded the complete blockchain (instead of using your Original.rar).
Nothing helps.

Also, please note that only the single pool is working. No other pools are operating. They have 0 miners.

So I recommend that you look into this issue to avoid some 51% or timewarping attacks on your blockchain.

Thank you

I am rather busy this week with other stuff, and don't visit very often here.

But, as the Diamond team people were repeatedly telling me in this thread while I was combating it, "are your blocks foundation compatible?" Cheesy

That is, do you send 0.05 DMD to the DMD contribution address with each block?
What are your wallet log files showing? That is, whatever the reason for the reject, it *is* listed there.

I hope to be able to help with more issues soon.

Hi danbi!

Thank you for your help again.

This is what I'm getting in debug.log:

Quote
05/15/14 03:54:37 received block 0000000003d0ac2948ef
05/15/14 03:54:37 pindexBest = 388054pindexBest = 388054ERROR: AcceptBlock() : rejected by synchronized checkpoint
05/15/14 03:54:37 ERROR: ProcessBlock() : AcceptBlock FAILED

Also, what's the deal with 0.05 DMD? How do I do that?
Add a 0.5% fee in nomp pool config? If yes, what's the address?

Your help is much appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi dev,we should change it to a POS+POW mixed coin,like NRS
POS can help us keeping the coins in our wallet and it can help the network.
POW keeps the cost of mining and its price wont go down too much.

my idea is :
POW-6%->-10% weekly,
POS +4% weekly

in this way,we still have 6% reduce(maybe not such simple calculation but something like this),not changing too much.but I am sure the price will be as high as DRK!

Hi all!

Yes, I proposed this awhile back. Got mixed replies.

Now we have a platform to do the "official" voting, please state your position here: http://groestlcoin.org/forum/index.php?topic=90.0

PS: And please start moving to the new official forum. The information is better structured there instead of being half about some sgminer problems with screenshots and half about the real stuff.

Thanks!

I understand your position and I respect it.
I just needed to state my vision of it.

so basical while -k groestlcoin need two special adaptions in miner software (block algo AND transaction hashing method) -k diamond need only groestl algo  activated and beside that stay standard

As for the miners... The important point is that two those adaptions in miner software have been already made in the miners. And now all miner software devs need to remove one of the adaption in case of Diamond. Or somebody needs to fork the miners, make the change and create compiled versions.

Thanks

aby idea why GRS cpu miner dont work on DMD?

Dear Diamond developers, miners, community!

I think that it is a problem that even though Groestlcoin and Diamond are using the same hashing algorithm, the miner applications are not compatible.
It is creating confusion for the miners. The change in the stratum mining code is trivial, but you'd have to do it and recompile a miner every time it is updated.
Also, I believe this will make it difficult (impossible?) to do merged mining in the future.

I think that it is possible to fix this situation now, when there are no exchanges, just a single pool and low network hashrate.
You can make a fork and switch from sha256(sha256()) to groestl512(groestl512()) in block hash.
That will make all miners compatible.

Thank you

I dont care what anyone has agreed. we dont use the term groestlcoin we use the term MYRIAD-GROESTL since the beginning and even now. dont forget we were the firt groestl coin. so YOU should have obligation of stating groestlcoin groestl but we arent making you do it. So please shut up unless you have some actual facts to prove that we are lying.  Also i dont really care what you think is superior. We dont come in here normally and tell you, you are liars so i would certainly appreciate it if you didnt either

Ahmed

I think that the first use of Groestl algorithm is QuarkCoin circa July 2013. Perhaps there are other coins that use it before QRK, I don't know.

As for naming, I agree that there is confusion. And not just with Myriad Groestl.
For example, new DiamondCoin is now using Groestlcoin algo, but there is a tiny change in block hashing that exists in the wallet (single sha256 instead of double sha256), which makes all existing Groestlcoin miners incompatible with Diamondcoin.

Dear Groestlcoin community!

Please review the proposed security update to Groestlcoin: https://github.com/GroestlCoin/GroestlCoin/pull/10/files

If no problems / recommendations are received within 24 hours from now, this pull request will be merged into the main github repo, we will compile Win and Mac wallets and start the migration to Groestlcoin v2.0.5 wallet.

The most important change is a hard fork at block 100,000 (about 6 days from now) where we switch from DGW v1 to DGW v3.

Thank you for your support.

Thanks to the pointer given by the Legendarycoin team, i've implemented a new "kind" of faucet... Floppy faucet!

http://cryptocoinfaucet.appspot.com/games/floppy?coin=GRS

Be gentle plz....

Also, if anyonye is willing... Here's a personal "thank you" address Smiley FiWCJUzL1UPFza1PpF7oAcwSUUGohYQNSF

Hi!

Thank you for this!

It is also possible to use "spacebar" instead of a mouseclick.

Also, once you withdraw some funds, the amount does not decrease. You withdraw again and it says "insufficient funds".

Is it possible to know how much GRS are currently "in the bank"?

srcxxx

I'm using the game backing wallet currently FeSjdPY3D4Az94XD33hudKtRgim58uuq9G as a buffer for the transactions, but the rewards will be deducted form the faucet's address (which is showing a weird huge amount due to the way wallets handle the balances) FjTNDaXTMExn7WQpFQraV33XTzgaC7BJo3.

the main wallet shows 53 GRS, does it sound right? http://grs.42tx.com/address/FjTNDaXTMExn7WQpFQraV33XTzgaC7BJo3
As for this address - it doesn't work here: http://grs.42tx.com/address/FeSjdPY3D4Az94XD33hudKtRgim58uuq9G
and shows as 0 here: http://coinia.net/groestlcoin/getbalance.php?addr=FeSjdPY3D4Az94XD33hudKtRgim58uuq9G

How many GRS do you now have in the faucet?

Also, how much are paid to people who play the game? Is it based solely on how long they play / how far they can fly  or is is multiplied by the total numer of GRS in the wallet?

Thanks

And since dwarfpool has about 50% of hashrate (yes, again!!!) it seriously harms the DGW algo and it sets totally incorrect difficulty. Which in turn results in more blocks being found than planned.

This is the first time I hear something like that.

I think something similar to this was happening: https://forum.feathercoin.com/index.php?/topic/2293-vulnerability-in-pool-server-stratum-implementation-quickfix-for-pools-in-here/

One of the nodes was broadcasting incorrect time. The stratum software was setting incorrect timestamp on the mined block and that lead to incorrect difficulty calculation.

To fight against this, I'm proposing that we fork into DGWv3 on block #100,000. (In about 6 days from now)

I'll provide more details shortly.

Thanks

Hi developers, pool operators!

Hope you could help me in setting up a NOMP pool.

I have the latest NOMP and compiled Diamond 2.0.0.1 from source and it is 5th attempt to set up a Diamond pool.

This is what I'm getting in the log.

Code:
2014-05-13 08:48:07 [Pool]	[diamondcoin] (Thread 1) Daemon instance 0 rejected a supposedly valid block
2014-05-13 09:46:22 [Pool] [diamondcoin] (Thread 1) rpc error with daemon instance 0 when submitting block with submitblock
            {"code":-2,"message":"Safe mode: WARNING: Invalid checkpoint found! Displayed transactions may not be correct!
            You may need to upgrade, or notify developers."}

Any idea how to fix this?

PS: Currently I'm redownloading the blockchain from scratch instead of using the RARed one posted here, hopefully it'll fix the issue.

Thank you!!!

Hi!

Is there an updated daemon for unix?

I've been troubleshooting why my pool doesn't work and here's what I see:

Quote
2014-05-12 12:16:50 [Pool]   [diamondcoin] (Thread 1) rpc error with daemon instance 0 when submitting block with submitblock {"code":-2,"message":"Safe mode: WARNING: Invalid checkpoint found! Displayed transactions may not be correct! You may need to upgrade, or notify developers."}

Thanks!

Update: recompiled version 2.0.1 from source. Hopefully, it'll fix all problems.

I compiled windows sgminer from the source. Tested and works with stratum with diamond kernel!

Any DMD tips can be sent here: daVzPCTzZFytFGmjHERfzXiEpQYevnwxpq   Grin

Doesn't work for me. Says "waiting for work to be available from pools" for some time and then that no pools can connect. Tried 3 times. Pool URL is correct, internet works ok. Perhaps missing some library/dll ?

Thanks

i dont work with code

This is the most important code:

Quote
   if (gpus[0].kernel == KL_FUGUECOIN || gpus[0].kernel == KL_GROESTLCOIN || gpus[0].kernel == KL_TWECOIN)
      sha256(pool->coinbase, pool->swork.cb_len, merkle_root);
   else
      gen_hash(pool->coinbase, merkle_root, pool->swork.cb_len);

As you can see, Groestlcoin will go into sha256(), while Diamondcoin will go into gen_hash()

Hi Danbi!

Thanks so much for this info. I added this parameter and now pool is accepting blocks. However with almost 20 hours of 20mhs I could not find any blocks yet.

Do I need to do anything else? Perhaps disable POS in the wallet?

PoS is irrelevant in this case. I disable it on the pool wallet, because it fills up the log file and also there is a risk to remain with negative balance when it stakes. Not good for pools.

I will do a clean diff with the current NOMP and my installation to see if there is any difference, but I don't believe there is -- after finding out what the "problem" is,  I just cloned it from github again.

Actually, thanks for pointing out regarding growing the filesize...

Because last time my server crashed because the ~/.Diamond folder was 17GB. Only today it became 2GB.

How do you disable POS?

Also, which daemon are you using? The binary that was posted here a few days ago?

Many thanks for your help!!!

PS: this is what I got just now:
Code:
> diamondd getinfo
error: {"code":-1,"message":"CDB() : can't open database file wallet.dat, error

The miner is correct, it gets accepted shares on your pool and I have latest NOMP from github.

Thanks in advance!

Hi pool operators using NOMP!

What is your diamond.json? Something like this?

Code:
{
    "name": "Diamondcoin",
    "symbol": "DMD",
    "algorithm": "groestl",
    "txMessages": true
}

Thanks!

Oh, I forgot this bit of the instructions. Must have (as usual) assumed it was obvious.

Thing is, GroestlCoin is actually deviating from the common standard, in that it (and few other new coins) is not using sha256d for the transaction hashes, but sha256 (single pass). To accomodate GroestlCoin, NOMP and sph-sgminer actually threat it as special case. In summary, it was never the new DMD wallet's fault that stratum mining did not work -- it was how that software assumed that when you said you want "groestl" you also said you want sha256 (single).

NOMP already has a setting to fix this, thanks to some discussion with the author. For coins that use any of (currently) keccak, blake, fugue and groestl -- you need to specify

Code:
"normalHashing": true,

in the coin definition.

By the way, the morale of this story is that the DMD team has been blamed without guilt on this subject.

danbi

Does this still continue?  - yes, still continue.

I have sgminer I took here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=475795.0;all
need this sgminer?
or write a link to sgminer which is suitable for DMD

my settings:
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
sgminer.exe -k groestlcoin -o http://dmdpool.digsys.bg:3345 -u login -p pass --no-submit-stale --gpu-engine 1170 --gpu-memclock 1020 --thread-concurrency 24000 -I 22 --gpu-reorder --scan-time 1

-o stratum+tcp://dmdpool.digsys.bg:3333 - only rejects.

with than miner u can use only 3345 port
i suggest to requiest that they add danbi's -diamond option to their official client

like i requested allready

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=475795.msg6684013#msg6684013

if more ask for it its more likly -diamond become part of official sph-miner

i think some pages back in this thread danbi posted a precompiled linux version and a link to his source if someone compiled it for windows i dont know

I believe that Windows version doesnt exist yet. At least I'm actively looking for it and still dont have one. If you really want to mine DMD with stratum, your best bet is a BAMT setup, see a few posts back.

Thanks

is there any pool without registration and workers with big hashrate (like http://groestlcoin.biz/ but with bigger hashrate)?
if nobody goes there, it won't happen... That's how the hashrate increase. It would be good that the hashrate get spread.

Anyhow, I spent a few hours there, didn't see any block. Went back to solo since an hour already 3 blocks... kinda strange

Hi!

That is my pool. i'm using the latest NOMP, but looks like something is not working right, though I'm pretty sure my setup is correct. I have my 18mh miner there and planning to move the other one as soon as there is a windows build of sgminer.

For now - please stay away. I'll start advertizing once I've found at least 1 block.

Thanks!
