If blockscan.com shows the address has XCP balance, that means the burn was successful right?

I burned using blockchain.info's web wallet. With this talk about a bug in burning just want to make sure.

FYI: Blockscan is currently not up todate with the latest blocks, at least until I can get the issue with the windows builds corrected.

Windows build will be fixed this afternoon. Probably what will need to happen is to use Python 3.2 (install that from the python site) and use the apsw library for that. If that is the 'fix', I'll just update the docs to say so.

Unfortunately it does not look that simple.. I've rebuilt using 3.2 and have run into the follow error

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "setup.py", line 388, in <module>
    main()
File "setup.py", line 379, in main
    create_virtualenv(paths)
  File "setup.py", line 204, in create_virtualenv
    _rmtree(paths['env_path'])
File "setup.py", line 63, in _rmtree
    _rmtree(fullpath)
File "setup.py", line 61, in _rmtree
    rmgeneric(fullpath, f)
File "setup.py", line 45, in rmgeneric
    import win32api, win32con
ImportError: No module named win32api

During the git pull I am also running into errors with the "werkzeug ..."

I guess this is due to a missing dependency, "Another Python SQLite Wrapper": https://github.com/rogerbinns/apsw
I tried to install this but ran into more errors so I switched back to the old version which is working just fine.

I'll wait for further instructions from the devs before using the latest commit.

Yes, I saw that earlier but there was no build for the win64 platform. Did not try it anyway. I will wait this out...

Is there are specific git command to roll back to the previous release ?

Hi PhantomPhreak/xnova

I have noticed that duplicate ASSETs were allowed to be created. Please see http://blockscan.com/asset.aspx.

You will notice that the duplicate asset names for "SPACE" and "NEXT" both were created by the same issuer.  Wouldn't this lead to confusion?

Cheers

Those aren't duplicate issuances, but rather cumulative (with a max of 2^63 - 1).

EDIT: I just tweaked this.

Noted. Any updates on when the "ImportError: No module named 'apsw'" issue will be fixed?

You shouldn't compare these two at that early stage. Counterpartyd hasn't been tested well (yet).  Would you put all your stash on one address knowing that system may not be stable enough? (At this point)

There is already "burning" service ongoing and how do you think the coins are getting "send"?  Cheesy

The risk of the "send" command is no greater than burning your coins via the blockchain (at this point)

Wouldd it even be possible for this coin to get those kind of returns like Mastercoin. I was under the impression it wouldn't be
More people burn now means less chance to get more than 10x return like Mastercoin in short time.

Those kind of return (10x -> 1000x) requires that people highly suspect it in the beginning and then later found it real and useful. The extreme case is Nxt. Almost no one trusted it in the IPO stage (they got 21 BTC only), and then when the client came out and it worked, the price shot up because the demand suddenly increases but most chips are controlled in the hand of a few people and it's quite easy for they to hold and see the price up to the sky.

For XCP, 1) people are already quite familiar with the idea due to MSC; 2) the 'Prove by Burn' removes the trust issue; 3) the client is working and we can see the source code, so you can see that there're already 1200 BTC burnt in less than half a month. The situation, however, is almost the same after the IPO. Most of people want to buy will burn now anyway. For the demand from those new comers, the supply (from those want quick profit of 30-40%) will be enough to keep the low price.

Therefore, no reason to expect the price could rise significantly without any big news (e.g. a beautiful and user friendly client; a famous asset such as AM moves in; or a lot of bets like those in bitbet are available).

+1 summed up well.. Which is why I mentioned that anyone expecting jumps  like MSC (or quantum leaps like NXT)  would be disappointed

I've got like 6,700 XCP on 5 different BTC addresses -_____-
Can someone please tell me how to consolidate this ?

Why would you do that? isn't more secure have them all separately?

alternatively You can simply give me all yours private keys to these addresses and I will look after consolidation Wink

In theory, you can use the send command from Counterparty client to consolidate all your balances

Cheers

Is there any advantage of this?

The advantages/disadvantages are as the same as consolidating your coins in Bitcoin.

However, I see someone has already done it as we have a new RICH XCP address at http://blockscan.com/balance.aspx  Cheesy

I know it's off of topic but it seems that most of guys here switched from MSC to XCP. What happened? did u lose your faith in MSC?  Grin

I'm glad that you're supporting this project.  It only assured me about my investment.

Looking forward to see more development.

I think the reason you see this is because they are hoping to make gains as large as in mastercoin. However, if that is the intention I personally feel a lot of people are going be disappointed. Because compared with MSC the distribution of coins in XCP is very much even and as such it would be more difficult to 'manipulate' the market, so to speak

I don't have the statistics here but I'm betting more than half of the guys burning coins here are looking for a fast turnaround in profit and will throw the coins as fast as they have burned their coins  Wink

Caveat emptor

For some people, get 30% - 40% return in one month is already a good investment. Suppose the daily burnt BTC count keeps current up trend, quite a lot of people will buy XCP at 0.001 BTC after the last burn block. Those who have already burnt could get 30-40% profit by selling their XCP that time (assume the exchange is already stable then).

For those who want 10x or even higher return, they have to wait until there're more and more popular assets/bets are created and the demand increases significantly. For that to happen, the counterpartyd have to be heavily tested and be reasonable stable first. The schedule is tight, cause MSC Dex is already under testing now. The first arriver will most likely be the only winner.

Noted. However, I was not referring to the 30-40% gains specifically as I was under the impression that most of MSC guys who are sitting on the IPO coins, are up more than 1300% at least given the 1BTC:100MSC ratio during the exodus period?

Cheers

It seems someone tried to create asset "NEXT" in block 280807:
https://blockchain.info/tx/acddcd5bc59349de709b0031e95c5610c233728548e8b308e32efb5d50385ee9

This asset was created with a very large quantity of 2^63 (9223372036854775808) which seems to cause this error.

Yes, my hackish solution from two days ago was off by one, and someone exploited that. I think that I've figured out the correct fix, however, but it requires a DB rebuild, so it'll be a few minutes before I can test it properly and push the commit.
[/quote]

Would appreciate if you can post a quick update once the commit has been pushed.

cheers

From what I'm seeing on Blockscan, the last 20 burns didn't go through.

They should go through once the bug issue reported earlier is fixed uploaded to git. So as long as you burnt them correctly with the instructions provided in this thread you should be good to go

Cheers

Awesome site, thanks for putting this together!

It would be great to have a page listing all created assets and details about them, any chance you implement this?

The asset lists is now available at http://blockscan.com/asset.aspx

Cheers

If I burn BTC using blockchain.com, how can I send the XCP from the blockchain to another address?

You can only burn from using blockchain.info. To send you need to do this with your counterparty client

I'm confused, I thought the address that burned the coins would get the XCP, so if I burn through the blockchain, how can I transfers those coins?
Or would I need to import the private keys for the blockchain address into the counterparty client to send them?

Yes. You will need to import the keys to your local bitcoind/qt client running with counterpartyd.

I am attempting to cancel an order. The command appears to go through with a confirmation transaction. But even after 1 confirmation I do not see the order as cancelled.

Instead it appears that the error data for the cancel transaction was  "Invalid: no valid offer with that hash from that address"

Has anyone got the "cancel" order function to work correctly? From what I can see there were 3 cancel attempts and none were successfull

I tried to adapt couterpartyd to use blockchain.info json-rpc API. Sadly, blockchain.info json-rpc API does not provide 'getrawtransaction'. It seems I have to install bitcoind in my poor VPS having only 20GB. Sad

Have you tried blockr.io (http://blockr.io/documentation/api) ?

cheers

Cool! I did not know that before. I will give it a try. Thanks a lot. Smiley

sure  Cheesy

If you don't mind me asking which API are you using to retrieve your "pending confirmations" burn?

I burn 1BTC which is included in block 280513, next block the whole thing is down. I can't show up anywhere.  Tongue

But probably everyone has it, yes.
There are no transactions after block 280514: http://www.blockscan.com/

I have updated blockscan.com with the latest GIT pull and we are up todate for the explorer
