Well, that's surprising.

Dude you could have told me you're discussing there. We can discuss openly, NP.

Sad to see suchpool go. I liked it.

I'm afraid I'm not understand how can you reach this conclusion.
325  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [FRSH] FreshCoin | NEW ALGO! (lowest energy usage) | POM | FRESH online!* on: January 08, 2015, 01:24:26 PM
What I wanted to say and we have lot of examples regarding other algos/coins is that I m all for the option someone builds new optimized kernels as long that person keeps that for himself, keep that private for personal benefit if there is any those days. Giving kernels to the public will do nothing, we will mine the same amounts because all of us will use that.
Then you are wrong. If everyone is guaranteed to have access to more or less the same power then anyone wanting to attack the network will have to go through quite some more effort. You get the same amount of coins, but they hold greater value as they have less risk.
326  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Up-to-date list of best miners on: January 08, 2015, 08:20:04 AM
Also, one other kinda weird thing about M8M miner: I'm using it with a 270x and 7950, and they both hash at the same rate. Is this normal? Limited by slower card?
No, it isn't normal, but I have received several reports from multi-gpu users. Some of them don't even get it to work.
I have found a potential issue but in theory it should not be happening at all, which implies there's a larger problem. I haven't had the time to investigate it in detail so far as I've been fighting with the omega drivers.

Is there a way to run this from the command line with a custom config not in AppData?
I don't really suggest to even try because I've forgot a negation in the config switch so it just cannot be used reliably. Whoops!

What is the point of performance increase can you give me just one good reason?
There are two good reasons.
  • they speculate higher performing kernels have value for elite miners wanting to hoard the coin. This is true in general but I hardly believe it's the case for FRESH. Main problem is elite kernels depreciate the coin in similar ways as ASICs, albeit not at that extreme scale;
  • the higher hashrate per-miner provides more protection against potential attacks by malicious entities running optimized miners as the difference is lower; this obviously holds true only when the higher perf version is largely available.
328  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [FRSH] FreshCoin | NEW ALGO! (lowest energy usage) | POM | FRESH online!* on: January 07, 2015, 07:49:31 AM
Not sure what base hashrate you're talking about but be advised 40% up kernels have been made available for free at least one month ago; I will port them to sgminer for only 0.1btc.

Some testers would be welcome however.
329  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: which coins support CPU and GPU ? on: January 04, 2015, 06:20:05 PM
it's not profitable like everything else, doesn't matter the algo anymore, asic are not even the problem, buyers are
I disagree. I'm more inclined to point my fingers at sellers.
330  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: which coins support CPU and GPU ? on: January 02, 2015, 06:36:47 PM
can you tell me which coins support CPU and GPU ?
Unitus has algos for CPU and GPU. In theory its parent coin Myriad should have CPU support as well but in practice all algos have been efficiently ported to GPUs.
and which algorithm support CPU and GPU ?
No "algorithm" supports CPU or GPU... because "algorithm" is an abstract entity.
Better question would be: which algorithm got implementations on both CPU and GPU?
Most, if not all algorithms have been implemented to run on both CPU and GPU. Whatever they run efficiently is another matter.
and which sites pools support CPU and GPU ?
Pools are not interested in this difference. All they care is you send them good work.
331  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] sgminer v5 - optimized X11/X13/NeoScrypt/Lyra2RE/etc. kernel-switch miner on: January 02, 2015, 06:29:08 PM
Speaking about driver versions... any update on omega driver (14.12) compatibility? I cannot get this to hash correctly on my system, no matter what, I only get HW errors.

Original Vehre miner runs with no problems.

Tested your advise on Bulldozer and Haswell and speeds are about the same. Changed to SSE2 on Bulldozer and speed dropped.
That's very surprising, thank you very much for the information!

Holy crap that's really low. Are you sure you're using the correct builds?
Using what was posted. If there is faster software? I would be glad to use it if so. Do you have better speeds on the same hardware?
I assume you're using one of those, but which one?

There's some chance I might be getting confused with the other nonsensical "CPU only" algo going around those days.

Are you running AVX on AMD FX? Have you given a go to SSE only? Bulldozers have fairly weak AVX.

Magi JSON-RPC libraries for C++ and Node.js:

Let me be aware of any issues.

Dependencies

Install CMake, Curl
I know a few of my contacts would say an instant NO just for this reason. Libcurl is an hell of a dependency and nobody, nobody in my sector would touch it without an insulating ten foot pole, an adequate salary bonus OR an explicit order.

As a side note: I'd like to thank github for being a total asshole not having notion of the zlib license. Some legal departments do not permit MIT code either.

I do not understand this coin, the gain is little, but the thing I do not understand is with 27 mhash possible that I can not find a block? I 3x 290x OC, you've noticed that the gpu 0 makes me 7,098 mhash
while the other one is gpu gpu 2 make me 8045,
someone can tell me why?
thank you
Probably related to latency involved by pci-ex port (I don't think they're all on PCIex3-16). If you use raisers, those are known to cause latency issues. Assuming they are all same card.

I agree in concept but in practice grs-myr has proven to attract so little interest. I would welcome additional choices.

What you mean Maxxy? An X11 optimized miner?
Only joking. Some people would get pissed and I don't like long chains much.

"oh no"
Now I'll have to make X11 LOL

I made a comparison between using sgminer-5.1 and CPU miner for QRK to find CPU is more effective! ... Again, I am using AMD 7 240 series!
Compared to what CPU?
240 is a fairly minimal card and the QRK kernel isn't very friendly AFAIK, it might happen.

Ok then can I know the amount of stream my GPU has?
I mean for radeon R7 200 or 240 series!
He's not intending "streams" in the sense of "stream processors" he means "streams" in the sense of "command streams". Most of the time, just use -g 2.
