321  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: STAR COIN [STR] - The coin with bonus STAR blocks on: October 20, 2013, 09:41:11 PM
Does anybody know how to contact the admin of the STR pool: http://str.minar.cc/index.php Huh
I've found many confirmed blocks for them today and my account still shows zero unconfirmed and zero confirmed.
The web contact form uses a broken captcha and won't submit my message.
322  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Profit-switching scrypt+ASIC Pool] multipool.us on: October 18, 2013, 08:12:22 PM
Yes, only reports 4 miners hashing
and shares are stuck at 6144 for me, at least it looks like they are.

I'll take a look.  Meanwhile we are under DDoS attack again.
Doesn't the pool have DDoS protection?

It will soon.  We haven't needed it until now.
Lemme guess, angry "bag holders" who believe that multipool (and not BTC) is responsible for the sudden drop in value of their alt coin?
It's the Dark Department at Insulcapa whose mission is to increase revenues by any means necessary ;-}
323  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Profit-switching scrypt+ASIC Pool] multipool.us on: October 18, 2013, 07:36:40 PM
What's the correct address for FRC?
I'm hashing on stratum+tcp://pool1.us.multipool.us:3341 and not showing any results.

With --usb you can say how many devices to find or how many each driver should find
So for each cgminer
 --usb BAS:1
would grab only one BAS device.
If you use
 --usb :1
it would grab the first device of any USB mining devices that you have. (this also has the minor advantage that it stops polling for hot-plugged devices until the current device disconnects)
Kano, Thanks!!! This has been the best tip for running Block Eruptors. I was constantly loosing them one by one and then restarting cgminer. But when I added --usb :29 it finds all my BEs and then if one stops it finds it again and it reappears with a higher AMU number, but every time I look since I added than command I find all 29 running!!!

Is there a conf file syntax for this or command-line only? (I like to keep everything in one place.)

Does hotplug polling have much cost? Just curious.

Also, I rolled back to cgminer-nogpu.exe 2.5.1 and BFLs and BEs run fine. My GPU miners don't care 2.6.2 or whatever.

3.6.2 won't even run on Win7:
[2013-10-16 07:08:27] BAS 1 usb write err:(-5) LIBUSB_ERROR_NOT_FOUND

AMU 0 usb write err:(-7) LIBUSB_ERROR_TIMEOUT
Odd. What hardware are you using?
Win 7 64-bit SP1
AMD FX-8350 Vishera CPU
8 GB DDR3
2 x Radeon HD 7970 running cgminer.exe 3.6.1 in a separate instance.
153 GB HDD
28 Block Eruptors on powered USB hubs with WinUSB drivers running in their own instance of cgminer-nogpu.exe 3.6.1

3.6.1 isn't working for me.  (win7x64 - 33 usb block erupters).   I let it run for a while, then it stopped mining, repeatedly saying something like USB write error_no_mem.

I tried to copy/paste the error but lost it.  I can get it again if need be.
And FFS LOL windows. Always with the new and exciting modes of failure. This suggests a memory leak within the windows specific part of the libusb code. Anyway now that timeouts are managed differently it means we can try libusbx instead of libusb, so I'm putting up some testing binaries that use it. Please try them, but I'm not holding much to hope.

Does someone have an idea to which diff I should set my 2x 2.5GH miners? Does the diff setting work on the EU Asic Mpool?
Are those the new BitFury 2.5 GHps miners?
I don't have one but what I'd do is start at 1 and see how it runs. Then try, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 and see when rejects start appearing. Back up and use that diff.

To know if diff is working change the diff in your Account/Manage Workers and update that worker. You have to restart cgminer for it to take effect. It'll tell you the pool, username and diff you log in with at the top of cgminer.

Please let us know what you find.

regarding sha256 multipool.  i want to use it, but not for BTC, only altcoins.  BTC difficulty is so high, my gpu's dont matter.  However, i can still use them on other sha256 altcoins.  besides eligius.st is 0% fee, another reason, not to have BTC in the multipool.  would you consider only altcoins for multipool?
One option is to use cgminer rotate pool management, e.g.

{

      "url" : "stratum+tcp://pool1.us.multipool.us:3333",
      "MultiPool" : " TerraCoin (TRC) ",

      "MultiPool" : " ZetaCoin (ZET) ",
      "user" : "Aurum.A1",
      "pass" : "pw"
   }
],
"rotate" : "20",

Is there something wrong with the BTC pool?  I'm running the SHA-256 Multipool, and whenever it switches over to ZET or TRC I mine and payouts work just fine, but when it switches over to BTC I register a hash rate but I've apparently earned nothing, and I mean like balance is all zeroes even to the billionth of a bitcoin nothing.

EDIT: Also I never get a 1 minute hashrate for my SHA-256 mine (when its on BTC) but I get a 10 minute hashrate.
When I switched my difficulty for sha-256 to 512 I began to get 1 minute hash rates.

Also, I made the mistake of running Bit Eruptors and BFL Singles in the same instance of cgminer. The Bit Eruptors are so small they need diff=1 but that is much too fast for a 60 GHps miner. I think that using the highest possible diff for your sha-256 miners would help the pool server cope better with all the new traffic.

At diff=512 for BFL Singles I get reject rates <1%. The MP web report also shows a higher hash rate than cgminer reports.

That poclbm file is from the machine with the GTX580 in it.  I'm not sure how the empty values get assigned, maybe GUIMiner-Scrypt passes them over when you start the miner because changing the settings in GUIMiner-Scrypt does change its behaviour.

Edit:  The batch file that starts CudaMiner passes them over, the poclbm-scrypt.ini file just seems to be holding a record of the various miners that I've set up.

I have to go out to buy something to eat now, I've been sat here all day and haven't eaten yet, and it's getting dark.  I'll be back in an hour or so and I do appreciate your help.  Tbh I'm not sure that the problem is with the configuration of my machine considering how I'm not the only person having this problem.
Difficulty: For GPUs just use MP's recommended values. Not an issue.
Coins: Are you mining TRC or ZET (SHA-256) or LTC, NVC, FTC...CGB (scrypt) coins? Two different ball games.
Server: Try the US server. I've used EU servers before and couldn't tell the difference.
CGMiner: Are you interested in trying it? I could show you how and you can leave the other programs on your PC and pick which you like.

Edit: I see now, you're following MultiPort in the scrypt coins.
Sounds like flound identified your problem.
333  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Profit-switch][1.5%fee] multipool.us:Always mine the most profitable coin on: September 29, 2013, 05:07:49 PM
I'm still having trouble with the US server sometimes losing its connection, or taking up to a couple of minutes to accept shares, resulting in all stale shares, the EU pool is unusable because it's behaving in the same way but worse.  I also assume that it's not my computers or internet connection causing it because my brother is having the same trouble.  The server stays connected but stops working properly, meaning that I have to disconnect and then reconnect, something that I can only do if I'm at the computer and notice it.

Have the same problem for 2-3 days now. cgminer crashes often using this pool. It ran for weeks without any problems before.
I've got 9 cgminers running and haven't had any issues in days. Post your *.conf file and maybe I can help.
Which conf file?  Reaper's?  I'm not quite sure which files you mean, so this will be a long post as I try to make sure that I include everything.  I appreciate your help.  I'll put these in separate posts so that it's less confusing than putting them one after the other.

First, poclbm_scrypt.

I only use CGMiner 3.4.3 and don't know GUI-Miner or Reaper.
Are you mining scrypt or SHA-256? What kind of miner are you using?
poclbm_scrypt sounds like a contradiction. I thought poclbm was Kon's custom SHA-256 kernel, not for scrypt.
I see a lot of empty parameters "". How do they get assigned?
334  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Profit-switch][1.5%fee] multipool.us:Always mine the most profitable coin on: September 29, 2013, 04:52:21 PM

I'm not nagging you here, I'm just wondering if you're aware of this issue, it affects your income as well as ours.  (We're in the UK by the way, maybe this problem is less noticeable to you if the server is nearby).

Anyway, hopefully you'll be able to sort this out because other than that issue this is my favourite pool so far and I want to be able to stick with it, clearly you've put a lot of work into designing it.

Edit:  I've also noticed that both my computers seem to do this together, and because I was chatting on Skype with my brother at the time I found out that his did at the same time too.

Are you using skype on your mining rig? Just curious. Also, have you done a tracert to the server you are connecting to? What does it show if anything? There are several things that can affect your connections so you need to go through them and see where the issue is.
When 875 miners are doing fine w/0 issues and you and brother have a problem then it is highly likely the issue is on your end somewhere. Do a little geekwork and we can probably help you fix whatever it is.

GL.
I'm only using Skype for text chat or occasionally audio, and most of the time it's either doing nothing or not running, besides which it's only running on one of my machines and both are having trouble, but they are sharing their internet connection (60Mbps down/3Mbps up fibre).  Other than that I'm running Google Chrome with a few things like Clark Moody's on them, but the other machine is only running GUIMiner-Scrypt.  These are the only two machines on my network, there isn't someone else here running uTorrent or anything like that.  My neighbours are all elderly so it's unlikely that any of them are downloading through my WiFi, I do run an open WiFi but according to the logs it just gets used occasionally by my one younger neighbour for his iPhone and iPad, most of the time he's out anyway.  As for my brother having the same issue at the same time, he lives sixty miles away and uses a different ISP.

I'll run that trace in a bit when I get back from the shops, thanks for your suggestions.  Neither my brother nor I can get the EU server to play nicely, if we could then that might sort the problem as it could just be because we're using a server that's half way around the planet from here.

Thanks

Edit:  I've just tried the EU server again and now it seems to be working and happily submitting shares, maybe it's been fixed.  Hopefully it'll be okay now, I'll see how well it's been running when I get back from my shopping mission in a bit.

Edit:  Could running a proxy server on each machine on the same internet connection cause this problem?  After I posted the last edit I put my second machine onto the EU server and then it started having the same sort of trouble again.  I've just switched one to the US server and the other to the EU server, it's only been five minutes since I did that but so far they seem a lot happier.  I'll see if I can set up a single server for them to share when I get back if they're still running okay.
Any chance you're mining XPM??? With a single core CPU it can almost bring it to a halt.
Did recently install a new wallet and you're downloading its blockchain? That slows my PC down to a snail's pace.
What difficulty have you set? I know with Block Erupters a high difficulty is detrimental. But, my GPU miners don't care what difficulty I set.
Open your Task Manager and see what applications and processes are running. I downloaded a shareware ap the other day and it installed this obnoxious PCBackUp that was grinding away in background. Uninstalling it sped my PC back to normal.

Thx Kano. I assumed the SiLabs driver it wanted to install when I plugged the first one in was the best.
So Zadig replaced all 10 Eruptor drivers with the WinUSB driver. But, when I start cgminer it quickly discovers 6 but cannot see the other 4. I have 6 plugged into a powered USB hub and 4 plugged into MB USB ports. I don't know how to tell which is which. I guess I'll unplug them all and plug them in one by one and see what happens.

When attempting to mine scrypt with the latest version of CGminer I get this error  "error -56 enquequeing: Enqueueing kernel onto command queue. (clEnqueueNDRangeKernel)".   The miner then procedes to disable the GPU.

I'm running a XFX 5870 HD 1GB VC on Windows XP SP3 with 2GB system ram.  the card is recognized as GPU 0 and the -n function shows it as ATI stream.  It's set to run on Give-Me-Coins pool in this fashion

"cgminer --scrypt -o http://ltc.give-me-coins.com:3334 -u USER.WORKER -p PASSWORD"      via the BAT file

  In between tries I delete the bin file as well as rename the conf file which I also rename as to not interfere with the BAT file.  This error also occurs when I try and run CGminer.exe through the conf file.  Running from the cmd prompt also has the same results.   I'll also add that I have no problems mining BTC with card and CGminer.  CGminer was not compiled.  I downloaded the binaries  from the main repository.  Any suggestion to solve this problem will be appreciated.

    did you have?

    setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
    setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1

    in your batch file or before calling cgminer?

Funny thing about this is that I have always included this in the BAT file.  Initially the miner was just instantly shutting down no matter what I did.  I then got some help from the MOD at my mining pool and he did some research and found out that Windows XP does not natively support the SETX command.  A little bit of info that all the guides LEAVE OUT!  I had to download Windows XP Service Pack 2 Support Tools to get the SETX function into XP which was a whole nightmare in itself (but I won't go there).  Once I got that setup incorporated the setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100 into the BAT file but not the setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1.  There seems to be a lot of confusion about how to run CGminer on Windows Xp as opposed to Windows 7 or Linux systems.  If you could explain what the setx commands do it would be much appreciated!
   setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
    setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
are useless in Windows, eliminate them and then go System Variables/Environment Variables and delete them. They're not your problem, they just do nothing for you in Windows.

Are you using a conf file??? Here's what I use for a 5830:
{
"scrypt" : true,

"worksize" : "256",

340  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM] [ANN] Primecoin High Performance on: September 25, 2013, 05:46:32 PM
I have XPM client mining on 9 Win7 PCs. Is there a way to:
1, have it start mining on boot up without having open it, pulldown help, click console tab, type in setgenerate true -1 every time???
2, have other 8 PCs send their coins to my main workstation PC automatically???
TIA, Aurum
and 2) the easiest way would be to share a wallet on those machines. It might be a good idea to create a new one with

Code:
keypool=1000

in the config file. You should backup your wallet.dat on that machine first and move it out of the %appdata%\primecoin folder before starting the primecoin-qt.exe
If you don't create a higher number of keys than 100 (which is default) you encounter the risk that the wallets on the machine will get out of sync once the keys are used up.
I don't know a way to automate exporting and importing the keys on windows machines automatically.
To verify the successful creation you can inspect the results via console "getinfo".
I have no idea how one shares a wallet across multiple PCs. I thought you need the client installed on each PC that is mining. Can you explain more about to do this?
Thx, Aurum
it's simple, just copy the same wallet.dat on all the machines, note the keypool though Wink .
if anyone finds a share, it'll be in the shared wallet and you'll see it in the management node .
Since I've had 8 PCs mining for a week several have coins in them. It takes a long time for them to mature, but I guess I could send them to my broker and then pick a wallet.dat file and copy it around.

Am I supposed to put "keypool=1000" on every PC or just the master? Will all clients share the same 1,000 keys???

Thanks much for your help! This is not intuitive at all.
