The coins will never be returned and NOBODY stole them but BIG VERN - - - UNLESS
The evidence is publicly released - Show us the CODE VERN - ..............

The exploit is documented here: https://github.com/alerj78/lucky7coin/issues/1

It was also apparently noted in a forum post a few months earlier.

There is no evidence who put it there though, nor is it proven this exploit was ever used against Cryptsy.

Smooth, how's it going buddy? Miss your trolling on here. How's monero development going? GUI wallet yet? Let me know, that way I can invest Smiley

The new release is excellent, but let's discuss that in an appropriate thread.

Speaking of investing...

How will current and potential investors react to the news DASH's proof-of-stake system has 456,500 coins held hostage in enemy hands?

Do you expect a pump, as people replace the DASH stolen from them due to Crypty's love of scamcoins?

Or should we anticipate lower prices, as the implications of massive dumps and/or 456.5 Masternodes under the control of a sophisticated unknown adversary sink in?

but why all other altcoins are blocked?

very good questions . We need more details about the alts holdings.

About a year and a half ago, we were alerted in the early AM of a reduction in our safe/cold wallet balances of Bitcoin and Litecoin, as well as a couple other smaller cryptocurrencies.

plz define "a couple other"  Huh

One of the "couple other smaller cryptocurrencies" is DASH.

450,000+ DASH, enough to control its 'decentralized governance' forever, moved four hours after the BTC and LTC.

The Evan's Gate cultists on on suicide watch, as they realize what will happen when that many get dumped into a very (thanks to Crypty's absence) shallow pool of bids.

signs point to at least some Dash being stolen...

Withdrawal issues are being caused by lack of funds in Craptsy wallets... which means, someone stole them...

Any idea how much Dash is 'stuck' at Craptsy? (this is how much was stolen)

I see a block, 4 hours(?) after the 13,000 BTC was stolen from Craptsy, which shows 456,501 Dash being moved (stolen?):
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/dash/block.dws?110242.htm

Any chance Craptsy would confirm/deny that ~450k Dash was stolen?

oh shit 450,000 DASH if true its worse than the Mintpal theft

Don't feel sorry for them, they deserve it after

1. white knighting for Cryptsy while many others were trying to sound the alarm and warn people

2. attacking Poloniex, the exchange that disclosed a theft but earned back the money and repaid everyone

3. refusing to stop putting their trust into individuals like BigVern and Evan Daftfield.

Getting burned to a crisp is the only way those people will learn.

That otoh accusation is dangerous.  Otoh himself has had trouble withdrawing.  Unless that's just a cover too hey?  Come on man.. Get out a town with these whacky conspiracy theories. It's all in your head.

Those 456 Masternodes worth of DASH moving FOUR HOURS after the BTC/LTC theft is a whacky conspiracy theory?  O rly?

The DASH pumpers defending Cryptsy when everyone else knew they were crooked was all in my head?  O rly?

Here are some classic posts from our favorite Darkcoin/DASH [ANN] thread:

I have got to defend Cryptsy, from the beginning they have been a stable exchange to rely on while many others have fallen down hard(mintpal anyone?)

Cryptsy has been really good for me, Big Vern is known and US based, and no one has ever lost money there over a very long time.

I remember this same thing with people recommending to leave Cryptsy and go to Mintpal in this same thread. How did that turn out?

There is also the distinct possibility that Cryptsy has done absolutely nothing wrong at all and these are all completely false allegations.

Big Vern fires back !

If anyone has more examples of DRK/Dash single-purpose accounts acting as white knights for Cryptsy, please LMK so I can add them to the dossier.

3204  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will developers start forking to "secure" the coins in Cryptsy's cold wallets? on: January 15, 2016, 05:31:17 AM
If an alt-coin tries to do this then such a coin should be avoided.

If an alt-coin CAN POSSIBILY do this then such a coin should be avoided.

100% fungibility for the win.
3205  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Darkcoin/Dash and Cryptsy - WTF is going on here? on: January 15, 2016, 05:28:55 AM
There are multiple single-purpose accounts which registered around the same time as or after the Darkcoin launch, and to this day only post in Dash threads.

Let's hold them accountable for defending the Crypty scam, by memorializing their Baghdad Bob worthy 'there is no problem on Cryptsy' cheerleading.

I suspect there is more than meets the eye about the relationship between Dark/Dash-coin and its former main exchange.

Remember the cozy relationship between BigVern and Paycoin?  Now put that together with the fact Dash was their main coin, by far, for about an entire year.

So Cryptsy has been functionally bankrupt for 18 months, while fraudulently operating on a fractional reserve.

That means when they are dragged into bankruptcy court, anyone who has received preferential treatment in the form of withdrawals will be subjected to clawbacks.

I can only think of one Big Player that's told everyone in the universe exactly how many 100s of BTC and 1000s of LTC/DASH he's received from Cryptsy, while their less Very Important and lawyered-up customers sit around holding empty bags.

His name is Otoh.  And he better start getting ready to return the assets he was unfairly given by Cryptsy.  Or it might start to look like tunneling.

bitcoin serves as a fungible currency

You mean like how the 13,000 BTC stolen from Cryptsy are fungible?

https://www.walletexplorer.com/wallet/0c07e0bec1002bd2

BigVern must be mistaken when he says "If they are returned, then we will assume that no harm was meant and will not take any action to reveal who you are.  If not, well, then I suppose the entire community will be looking for you."

Last we heard of the guy he was flying out to China isn't it?

These 13,000 coins will find their way diluted into the market in due time.

Mike Hearn has consistently been attacking Bitcoin for at least 2 years. Good fucking riddance.

Mikey is one of our most productive lolcows.  I will miss kicking him around and goading him into intemperate, self-indulgent tantrums.   Cry

happened supposedly through a dodgy wallet... Don't they review all code?

The alleged theft occured 18 months ago.

Crytpsy has been (de facto) bankrupt ever since, running on a fraudulent fractional reserve.

Anyone who got preferential treatment by getting withdrawals approved ahead of other creditors is now liable to be the subject of clawbacks.

Big-shot VIP DASH whale Otoh, please pick up the white courtesy phone.  Your lawyer and accountant are on line one, something about wanting you to "stop digging."

Bitcoin Classic rolls out, and days later there is no word about it in the News Media.

Mike Hearn declares Bitcoin dead and within hours it is in the New York Times.....

In other words, Bitcoin_Classic is about as newsworthy as Unlimited.  IE, not at all.

XT set the bar for hilariously futile vanity fork and governance coup attempts, but these new shitforks have no chance of raising it.

If First Mover advantage is lost, whether it takes years or months, it will be gone forever.  Yeah, Bitcoin will still be around. Hell, MySpace is still around, but The escape route from Bankster tyranny will have been blocked.

Goldman sachs and govcoin can never replicate some of bitcoins best attributes:soverign, immutable, no KYC. and extremely unlikely to replicate other features that make bitcoin so great : limited , disinflationary.

Once you know this , you will have no fear of these private blockchains.

Who says it has to even be private? All they have to do is clone bitcoin and premine the shit out of it, market it as the drug and terrorism-free version (loss of anonymity is a feature, not a bug), and prop up the price for a few months.  If they hire K Street lobbyists to encourage USG to treat their coin a little more charitably and our coin with a little more hostility, it's off to the races.

We'll still be squabbling over SegWit and 4MB when their nodes are the size of Google data centers processing millions of transactions an hour. They'll be like a hot IPO and we'll be de-listed and relegated to the penny stock pink sheets. And we'll deserve it.

Oh Lawd, I'm really scared of fiat disrupting Bitcoin.  Your terrifying scenario is just so plausible, how will I sleep tonight?

I'm willing to trade all of Bitcoin's diffuse/diverse/defensible/resilient properties for safety.

Please tell us what to do!  Maybe Hearn will accept our apology and ride to the rescue?
3216  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hearn's School Boy Dummy Spit on: January 15, 2016, 02:53:38 AM

Exactly when and how Hearn@bankster.ch will return is a mystery, subject to the occult objectives of his military-industrial-financial complex puppet masters.
No it isn't you idiot moron.  He hasn't gone anywhere.  He's at R3CEV working with Hyperledger, IBM, Cisco, several dozen global banks, the NSA etc.

You lot are such morons.  Guess you failed to notice that within a hour of Mike releasing this it was picked up by the New York Times.  YOU bitcoin crippling schmuck idiots are so focused on Classic (which still hasn't gotten a blip in media, nor has anything else bitcoin related) that you fail to see the threat rising from a fiat coin.

You just had to have your way against almost total disagreement from the rest of the community.  Well, a fight is coming and the only good news is that you lot will get knocked out early.  Hopefully you don't do too much damage to the repuation of Bitcoin on the way out.  My guess, based on your recent behavior, is that you will happily kill bitcoin if you can't control it.

Ah yes, there's the good old 'Sell Gavinblocks Using Fear' approach we know and love.  The problem is you don't understand antifragile systems require adversity (such as _Classic and fiat) to grow more resilient and thrive.

Fiat is not a threat to Bitcoin any more than a beehive can stop Honey Badger from consuming its sweet precious goo.

Bankster shitlords like Hearn are welcome to 'throw their weapons' and buzz around angrily, while Honey Badger just does whatever it wants to.

Love watching the Blockstream idiot hijaakers gloat.

It's beautifully Ironic.  Today they gloat a Mike's failure to hijaak bitcoin.

Tomorrow we laugh at all of them for their failed hijaak attempt of Core.

www.BitcoinClassic.com #Winner.
* Classic isn't XT.  It has actual concensus, support, and is reasonable.  And let's remember this... as much as I think Mike Hearns is a traiterous ass, I totally respect him for being the first to standup and throw a punch at these hijaaking, whiny, lying, manipulating, censorship wielding, bitcoin crippling losers at Blockstream/Core.

Oh, and don't count Mike out yet.  He is in my guess a huge threat to Bitcoin.  I predict that when chaos around the Classic Fork is going strong - the R3CEV/Hyperledger/Bank team will strike with a Fiat Coin announcement.

What makes you think Blockstream is going to pull a Hearn (IE, write self-indulgent Goodbye Cruel World + Bitcoin Obiturary Medium post, rage quit, and rage dump) tomorrow?

All you Gavinistas' 6 months of whining and threats has accomplished is providing the rest of us with amusement.

You haven't moved the needle towards Gavinblocks at all, not one iota.

We warned you the outcome of your contentious vanity fork and governance coup attempts would be gridlock, which effectively preserves the 1MB status quo.

In response, you guys amped up the drama, using ridiculous bullet words like censorship/dictatorship/hijack/crippling/strangling to goad the Reddit mob into lighting their torches and stamping about chanting "rabble rabble rabble!"

How's that working for you?

Are you starting to understand why you can't win this fight, or do I need to make a new #REKT meme?   Smiley
3218  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hearn's School Boy Dummy Spit on: January 15, 2016, 01:36:50 AM
Mike makes a lot of good points, but he is such a tantrum throwing drama queen.  XT dies, and suddenly he finds it appropriate to "sell his bitcoins" and declare bitcoin dead.

However, the big point I get out of this is that Mike Hearn / R3CEV / HyperLedger are probably going to take a run at cornering the Crypto Market soon.

XT was never really alive, and (while promoting several factual and logical errors) Mikey did not many any good points.  The closest he came was by unintentionally demonstrating the Peter Principle and Dunning-Kruger effect.  IE, he's a codemonkey who has no business dealing with anything beyond an IDE, yet fervently believes Honey Badger should give a shit about his ridiculous opinions.

I guarantee Mikey will be back.  His self-indulgent Goodbye Cruel World tantrum was merely a plea for attention (and tacit admission of impotence via XT's failure).

If Mikey was sincere, he would have simply and silently rage quit and rage dumped without all the fanfare.  We may be on opposite sides of the fence, but I know a fellow Bitcoin drama addicted obsessive when I see one.

Exactly when and how Hearn@bankster.ch will return is a mystery, subject to the occult objectives of his military-industrial-financial complex puppet masters.
