Let's say Evan comes up with a better name than DASH or for any other reason (competing coin's fans pay/extort him enough or w/e) decides to drop pursuing the DASH trademark => the competing company gets the trademark => they will come after you.

Dunno what Evan's intent is exactly, but I'm just assuming here (and playing with the possible outcomes):

a) If Evan manages to trademark DASH in the field of virtual currencies (or w/e the field's gonna be), he is going to let Dashcoin be Dashcoin, no problems for anyone.

b) If the other company is admitted the trademark to DASH, then it might not allow Dashcoin be Dashcoin as it's just been proven to operate in the same market/field.

Thoughts?

Arielbit, I've read just about all of your posts on here & the DRK/DASH thread, including your responses to DRK/DASH people and your ongoing overall expressions of unfairness and upset over what you perceive to be an attempt by Darkcoin to destroy Dashcoin. There's a part of me that has some empathy for the situation you've found yourself in but it's rapidly being completely overtaken by a sense of indifference because of the never ending determination you have to label DRK/DASH as this heinous aggressor who has come and "attacked" Dashcoin and tried to destroy it. So attached to this line of thinking are you, you might as well be saying DRK/DASH is trying to destroy YOU personally!

You just keep going on and on and on and on with the same line, the same determined questioning of why DRK/DASH has acquired Dashcoin's code & name and the same outrage directed at virtually everyone that's identified themselves from the DRK/DASH community. Yet, I don't think I've read one post where you're openly speaking to slb and asking him or her "Why have you sold out?" or "Why did you decide to abandon us, your Dashcoin community?" or "Why have you given up on Dashcoin?" Not one! It's like you've identified that DSH/DARK people are there, they're living, breathing and they're responsive so you're going to just go on and on and on and on and on with these never ending complaints and accusations of foul play and underhandedness towards DRK/DASH because....well because....because the Dashcoin dev is gone so "I have to find someone else to blame and DRK/DASH is it damn it!"

But as I've pointed out numerous times now, it's not DRK/DASH that you should be directing your rage to. Dashcoin still exists, it's still functioning, it's still being traded (at multiples of its previous price) and it's still a working crypto. Nothing has changed except slb decided to sell out which means you no longer have a dev and, if Dashcoin is to continue being developed, someone has to step forward, fork the existing code base and move on with a new dev or group of devs. Nothing has been "destroyed", nothing has been taken from you that you legally owned and you have no legal claim to the intellectual property or brand of Dashcoin because it isn't yours to own (just like I own the value of the physical money in my pocket, but the design of the coins and notes and the manner in which they work I have no claim on; they're the property of the issuer).

That's it. There's nothing more. This never ending acrimony against DRK/DASH and accusations of unfairness/underhandedness is completely pointless. It has no logic to it. It has no potential to rectify your loss or even just your feeling of loss. It has no likelihood of "fixing" anything because it's entirely the wrong tree you're barking up.

Evan Duffield is not your enemy. All those DRK/DASH people you're having such heated debate with aren't your enemy. DRK/DASH itself is not your enemy. I am not your enemy.

Your enemy is ignorance and the consequences of it. That's where you need to be focussing your attention; your own lack of comprehension and thoroughness on what it means to invest in a cryptocoin with an anonymous dev who can walk at any moment leaving you holding coins that then have a dubious future unless someone takes over.

Honestly arielbit, that's who your enemy is. That's where you should be directing all this anger and angst towards; your own lack of understanding as to how this stuff works and what it is you've really bought when you purchase cryptocoins.

Demonising DRK/DASH people and trawling through a thousand hypotheses around how slb selling out to DRK/DASH isn't right and getting all upset and pissed off with people like me writing postings like this may give you a feeling of self righteousness but it's not going to fix anything because (and I know you hate hearing this but there's never been anything quite as true) WE ARE THE WRONG PEOPLE YOU SHOULD BE DIRECTING YOUR QUERIES TO.

Dashcoin's dev is who you need to be challenging, not DRK/DASH. It's Dashcoin's dev that's decided to stop being the dev and sell what he's produced to Evan Duffield. That's the reality of the situation and all this anger and rage towards DRK/DASH and its community isn't going to help one little bit.

(But I'm expecting you'll dig your heels in even further and respond to this post with a whole lot of angry rhetoric that once again totally misses the fundamental issue here on where your upset and unanswered questions should be directed and why that is so).

PS: Funfact, you are talking about DASH is trying to destroy dashcoin, if anyone intends to do that, why is dashcoin still traded at poloniex? Wouldn't it be the first thing to start bribing exchanges to unlist if you want to kill a coin?

From what I understand there are no plans to shut this coin down.  The new interest in it has brought more activity from the community and considerable gains to Dashcoin holders in a very short period of time.  The price was at it's all time low and since Darkcoin's involvement it's had a massive increase.  It would be hard to imagine early Dashcoin holders are upset in any way considering the coin remains and MyFarm has been offering them such incredibly high prices for them on top of it.   

I'm holding my Dashcoins tight, and I gave 1 million Dashcoins to some friends and family for Christmas.  It's nice to be able to give a million of something.

I own around 6000 dash so count me in. A million dollars sounds fair to me.

There are thousands of failed altcoin projects by now, the names are starting to be like old domain names. The development team acquired the rights to the name from a small abandoned crypto project "Dashcoin" although it was never intended to use the suffix "coin".

Thus we are now DASH, but thanks for watching our backs, it is all taken care of though.

This is similar to you being on holidays and returning home to find the neighbours next door who you've have a fond relationship with have suddenly sold up and left without any word and there are new people in that house. So, instead of contacting your old neighbours and asking them what's happened and why did they leave without any warning, you're at the front door of the house banging on it continually saying "Why did you buy this house!!?? Why?? I feel like you've destroyed my relationship with my old neighbours!! Why did you do this!!??" And then when the new people say "You really need to take it up with your old neighbours" you say "I don't know where they've gone and I can't contact them" and then start repeating all over again "Why did you buy this house!!?? Why?? I feel like you've destroyed my relationship with my old neighbours!! Why did you do this!!??"

Can you see how futile this is?

You need to direct your queries to the Dashcoin dev and if you can't contact him then you need to decide whether to exit your DSH position (which is now about 4 time more valuable than it was just a week ago as a result of all of this) or continue on with DSH on a forked version. That's what you bought into when you bought a crypto from an anonymous developer.

IDK but I assume it's because under trademark law the first person that traded under the name 'dash....' owns the rights to that name.  the people who mined / purchased coins deriving from the mark owner have rights to own their coins under property law but they do not have rights to make any claim on use of the dashcoin name under trademark law because they never owned it. and remember coins are not shares so they have no rights under company law like shares do they are just property.

i doubt it because one thing VC's aren't is legally-dumb.  myfarm has no clue legally what he is talking about. he mentions 'no legal precedent' in every post because he thinks that means he can buy a big mac and then sue McDonalds for using his trademark lol
