Owners of Dashcoin, please respond with how many Dashcoin you have and if you think a 1 million dollar marketcap takeover is fair.
I own around 6000 dash so count me in. A million dollars sounds fair to me. i think buying dashcoins from dashcoins community would be fair, as for marketcap, doesn't need to be 1million as long as the community sold out that is fine for me. trolltalking a few hours ago in darkcoin thread clearly shows that buying dashcoin dev accounts is their way to kill dashcoin...at least it just didn't come from ther PR guy minotaur. From what I understand there are no plans to shut this coin down. The new interest in it has brought more activity from the community and considerable gains to Dashcoin holders in a very short period of time. The price was at it's all time low and since Darkcoin's involvement it's had a massive increase. It would be hard to imagine early Dashcoin holders are upset in any way considering the coin remains and MyFarm has been offering them such incredibly high prices for them on top of it. price again..well i was thinking previously the price should become super cheap making people forget greediness for once and dashcoin would experience sharing like this.. I'm holding my Dashcoins tight, and I gave 1 million Dashcoins to some friends and family for Christmas. It's nice to be able to give a million of something.
things darkcoin never experience since its inception. being a clone of bytecoin saves the community some development cost..btw i would like to thank bytecoin devs for the development and slb for some tweaks. darkcoin stealing dashcoin name is somehow stealing dashcoin future, like i said in darkcoin thread "why buy our dev? and dev accounts like github"? .....don't throw me the "you are asking the wrong person" again lol

It just shows how ruthless the DRK community is that they think they can just take this name for no reason, i dont even know if it can legally be bought, since as others have said, the name belongs to the whole community. If its worth that much, the DASH community should be paid a decent pay packet!
You are misinformed. Legally the rights to the coin are owned by the whomever created the coin, in this case it's the core dev that started it. No one is guaranteed any rights when they purchase this coin, just as no one is guaranteed any rights when they purchase bitcoin, or just like everyone can have a US dollar but it doesn't give them any rights to license it. Case Law? There is a huge difference between centralized and decentralized virtual currencies that is already recognized by an agency of the United States Government. http://www.fincen.gov/statutes_regs/guidance/html/FIN-2013-G001.html. Examples of decentralized virtual currencies are Bitcoin, Namecoin, Monero and Dashcoin. A particularly good example of a decentralized virtual currency is Monero where there was a community takeover of the currency away from the developer. It is my understanding that Darkcoin is also a decentralized virtual currency; however if the Darkcoin Foundation, the Darkcoin Developers and the Darkcoin community take the position that Darkcoin is a centralized virtual currency I will of course defer to their judgement. The key difference is that with a centralized virtual currency for example PayPal there is an administrator of the currency who controls the currency. With a decentralized virtual currency there is no person or group that has control over the currency. So with a centralized virtual currency the administrator would own the rights to the currency and would be able to sell them making the above statement correct; however with a decentralized virtual currency this is not the case.

A particularly good example of a decentralized virtual currency is Monero where there was a community takeover of the currency away from the developer. Hah, maybe TFT (the "original creator") can sell Monero to Evan the way slb did with dashcoin. Or better yet, maybe we can sell Evan some lunar real estate.

I'd like to thank eduffield and the other developers for this critically important evolution in virtual currency. DarkCoin is what bitcoin should have been. Some might call it "Bitcoin 2.0" but would do better by saying: "DarkCoin is digital cash." - Child Harold - February 28, 2014 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg5424980#msg5424980

that's darkcoin blood hounds been always gibbering all this time..........marketcap, price, value of the coin.. these guys are so greedy they forgot that there are people trading at poloniex with significant volume, miners, community who bought and hold, and a dev which darkcoin bought. trying to make small marketcap = dead i have to reiterate again dashcoin dev latest development was feb 08 2015.. i dont get what the problem is here.... the Dashcoin dev sold out to Darkcoin-DASH. That's it. Move on. Where do you think Dashcoin was going to end up anyway? If you have a gripe, take it up with the dev who sold out. Who seems like quite a smart person I might add.

PS: Funfact, you are talking about DASH is trying to destroy dashcoin, if anyone intends to do that, why is dashcoin still traded at poloniex? Wouldn't it be the first thing to start bribing exchanges to unlist if you want to kill a coin?

Im not irrational, i just like facts, and there is no fact for your claims. (Beside some trolls trolling dashcoin community and dash community to get a grunge between them for absolutly nothing)

Arielbit, I've read just about all of your posts on here & the DRK/DASH thread, including your responses to DRK/DASH people and your ongoing overall expressions of unfairness and upset over what you perceive to be an attempt by Darkcoin to destroy Dashcoin. There's a part of me that has some empathy for the situation you've found yourself in but it's rapidly being completely overtaken by a sense of indifference because of the never ending determination you have to label DRK/DASH as this heinous aggressor who has come and "attacked" Dashcoin and tried to destroy it. So attached to this line of thinking are you, you might as well be saying DRK/DASH is trying to destroy YOU personally! You just keep going on and on and on and on with the same line, the same determined questioning of why DRK/DASH has acquired Dashcoin's code & name and the same outrage directed at virtually everyone that's identified themselves from the DRK/DASH community. Yet, I don't think I've read one post where you're openly speaking to slb and asking him or her "Why have you sold out?" or "Why did you decide to abandon us, your Dashcoin community?" or "Why have you given up on Dashcoin?" Not one! It's like you've identified that DSH/DARK people are there, they're living, breathing and they're responsive so you're going to just go on and on and on and on and on with these never ending complaints and accusations of foul play and underhandedness towards DRK/DASH because....well because....because the Dashcoin dev is gone so "I have to find someone else to blame and DRK/DASH is it damn it!" But as I've pointed out numerous times now, it's not DRK/DASH that you should be directing your rage to. Dashcoin still exists, it's still functioning, it's still being traded (at multiples of its previous price) and it's still a working crypto. Nothing has changed except slb decided to sell out which means you no longer have a dev and, if Dashcoin is to continue being developed, someone has to step forward, fork the existing code base and move on with a new dev or group of devs. Nothing has been "destroyed", nothing has been taken from you that you legally owned and you have no legal claim to the intellectual property or brand of Dashcoin because it isn't yours to own (just like I own the value of the physical money in my pocket, but the design of the coins and notes and the manner in which they work I have no claim on; they're the property of the issuer). That's it. There's nothing more. This never ending acrimony against DRK/DASH and accusations of unfairness/underhandedness is completely pointless. It has no logic to it. It has no potential to rectify your loss or even just your feeling of loss. It has no likelihood of "fixing" anything because it's entirely the wrong tree you're barking up. Evan Duffield is not your enemy. All those DRK/DASH people you're having such heated debate with aren't your enemy. DRK/DASH itself is not your enemy. I am not your enemy. Your enemy is ignorance and the consequences of it. That's where you need to be focussing your attention; your own lack of comprehension and thoroughness on what it means to invest in a cryptocoin with an anonymous dev who can walk at any moment leaving you holding coins that then have a dubious future unless someone takes over. Honestly arielbit, that's who your enemy is. That's where you should be directing all this anger and angst towards; your own lack of understanding as to how this stuff works and what it is you've really bought when you purchase cryptocoins. Demonising DRK/DASH people and trawling through a thousand hypotheses around how slb selling out to DRK/DASH isn't right and getting all upset and pissed off with people like me writing postings like this may give you a feeling of self righteousness but it's not going to fix anything because (and I know you hate hearing this but there's never been anything quite as true) WE ARE THE WRONG PEOPLE YOU SHOULD BE DIRECTING YOUR QUERIES TO. Dashcoin's dev is who you need to be challenging, not DRK/DASH. It's Dashcoin's dev that's decided to stop being the dev and sell what he's produced to Evan Duffield. That's the reality of the situation and all this anger and rage towards DRK/DASH and its community isn't going to help one little bit. (But I'm expecting you'll dig your heels in even further and respond to this post with a whole lot of angry rhetoric that once again totally misses the fundamental issue here on where your upset and unanswered questions should be directed and why that is so).

Imagine that! An actual decentralized open source project that doesn't worship its dev as some kind of deity. Maybe they don't actually care about this 'slb' character (especially now) and are really only interested in the project and the coin itself. You still don't get it. Open source projects are not companies, and the dev does not "own" the project. Anyone can contribute, and if new people want to join the project and take the place of slb who seems to be gone now, they can certainly do so, just as many abandoned or mismanaged open source projects have been adopted by new developers. I have no idea if this is actually going to happen, but if dashcoin supporters want to keep going, I say go for it. Evan Duffield might not be the enemy in your view but he has treated the dashcoin community with disdain and disrespect, and as nothing more than a pawn in his supposedly more important plans. You're not helping matters either.

You're not helping matters either. Oh I "get it" smooth, way way more than you are perceiving. I know what open source is, I've worked in amongst it for decades. I know slb is only the original developer (well, of his parts....not the original original) and that anyone can take over. That's the core essence of open source but it's not the core essence of a brand name which can be "owned" hence bought and sold. And that's all that's happened here, a commercial transaction has taken place. Evan has acquired the name from someone who wanted to sell it. It's a perfectly valid commercial undertaking. But now you guys need to demonstrate YOUR understanding of open source and that devs are not "some kind of deity" and stop tarnishing and slandering Evan. Just get on with your own stuff and focus on the future for your project!

Another "wrong people" here lol Thought you're gonna say something new here with your very long post. And please don't post here another of your short story.they suck.i think i'm gonna lose my mind here. Perhaps if you read it and take in the logic of what I'm talking about you'll have less feeling of losing your mind. Another "wrong people" here lol
You can keep repeating "the world is flat, the world is flat" till you're blue in the face. It doesn't make it true

Evan has acquired the name from someone who wanted to sell it. It's a perfectly valid commercial undertaking.
Actually no. You (and probably Evan) really need to learn something about trademarks. You can't "acquire a name." It doesn't work that way. You (apparently) acquired a github repo and maybe some websites. Enjoy them. If you actually had an enforceable trademark you could, at some point in the future, demand that the dashcoin community stop using it. I personally doubt that will ever happen, but you never know anything is possible. Until then people who have already been using the name in their own dealings are free to continue doing so.
