3221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 0.3.20 is cheaper to run than 0.3.21 on: May 23, 2011, 12:49:59 AM
I pay the fee .01 every time.  I do not mind supporting the network. Currently it is six cents for most transactions.  If I was sending under 1btc I would enjoy paying a smaller fee but that is not too important.
3222  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Two pools or one? on: May 22, 2011, 11:23:54 PM
I run in two pools as well roughly 50/50.  It gives me a redundancy and a chance to compare the qualities of both.
3223  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: New ClearCoin feature: refund-to-charity on: May 22, 2011, 02:08:35 PM
One option would be to have a portion of the funds released to the seller when a tracking # shows DELIVERY from the seller address to the buyer address zip code.  Some minor checking could be done on the tracking to make sure it was at the right dates as well.  As far as I know there is not a large supply of tracking #'s out there to fake this with.
3224  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I think the rapture happened..... on: May 21, 2011, 04:54:26 PM
Well you can put empty clothes outside your front door as a joke.  6pm or so your time.  The rapture has come and gone in some parts of the world.
3225  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Verification failed, check hardware! on: May 21, 2011, 04:02:45 AM
600W OCZ psu, more than enough for the system. I ran furmark for a while too... it didn't have any problems and ran both cards fine.
Seems a little close to me.  I would think you would want 700w for two video cards.
3226  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: ‘GUI’ miners for Mac (Diablo GPU and RPCminer CPU) on: May 21, 2011, 03:07:52 AM
So I have it working.  Two questions:

I get an error:
[5/20/11 11:03:07 PM] ERROR: Invalid block found on ATI Radeon HD 6490M (#1), possible driver or hardware issue

And second, the output shows two numbers 13600/14000 (changing of course).  Is my total hash rate both of those combined?

3227  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Proprietary FPGA cluster miners will kill the Bitcoin project on: May 21, 2011, 01:16:59 AM
I wonder if anyone in the GPU industry has actually noticed Bitcoin yet.

Some must have.  Powerful ati cards are sold out in many places.  Maybe a good time for and stock.
3228  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: 3 Sapphire 6990's for sale. [CLOSED] on: May 21, 2011, 12:36:20 AM
No it is sure. I bought one and someone else bought 3.

Ok.  Not sounding good then!  Sad
3229  Economy / Goods / Re: Spend your bitcoins on amazon with no transaction fees on: May 21, 2011, 12:35:39 AM
This is indeed an intelligent way of buying BTC. But, what if you receive more orders than you can afford? I mean, this can't be a long-term service...

can't he just convert some of the bitcoins back into $ to pay amazon

Yeah, but then, he would have to pay fees to sell them. Wouldn't that represent losses? (well, it's true that if BTC value keeps raising like it does then he won't be losing anything Smiley)

There are commission programs and he probably has it set up to capture those.  That alone can be a few percent.  Then if he pays Amazon on a credit card he could get a rebate/reward there as well.  This is a win-win for everyone so long as it is honest.  I am looking forward to hearing more and will spend some myself this way if it works out.
3230  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: spike in hashrate on: May 20, 2011, 11:30:05 PM
Not a bug, seems slush is down currently.
Just for a moment, and now he is back up.  I watched the whole event happen.  I saw my rig go down, checked the board and he had an announce for a temporary downtime.  Then less then 10 mins later he was back up.
3231  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Cooperative mining (330Ghash/s) on: May 20, 2011, 11:23:39 PM
And now the fans are winding back up!   Grin
3232  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Cooperative mining (330Ghash/s) on: May 20, 2011, 11:09:57 PM
Well, I need to migrate database, so we're going down for a moment. Stay tuned!
My rig just got quieter!   Cheesy
3233  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: 3 Sapphire 6990's for sale. [CLOSED] on: May 20, 2011, 10:13:11 PM
I would not assume this has gone bad quite yet.  He closed the topic and it is not sure that he got more then the total asking price.
3234  Economy / Economics / Re: Big buyers flooding the market with bitcoins ? on: May 20, 2011, 10:09:21 PM

If you like throwing money away, I'll sell you mine at $7.

Find me when you want to dump them at $5. It could happen tonight.

This is where the rubber hits the road. Those who are in it for the long haul will stay in until the bitter end. The profiteers will drive the price down so that we can buy some cheap coins.

I sold a bunch at 7 and am ready to buy at 5 as well.
3235  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Another scientist jumps off the pro-AGW train - good for miners on: May 20, 2011, 06:36:34 PM
Please move this post to off-topic.

3236  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Is rig building still profitable? on: May 20, 2011, 04:04:17 PM
I just assume that price wont change and Im good in predicting difficulty rise.
why do you predict the difficulty to continually rise, if the price doesnt change at all?
the price will change.

Yes.  But everyone thinks that means it will go up, but in reality it has gone down.
3237  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: Advertising space on my forum, 80,000+ page views daily, several million monthly on: May 20, 2011, 12:55:29 AM
Selling adspace on my site.  We currently have no ads at all, we shut them down a while back in favor of Amazon affiliate links that were able to pay the hosting bills, but costs are going up.

My site is ModRetro, a forum for people who modify game consoles, with a focus on "portabilizing", the art of turning home consoles into custom made handhelds.  We are linked to frequently from major tech news sites like Gizmodo and Engadget, over the year of 2010, we averaged 3.5 million page views a month; Our current average for 2011 is 2.5 million page views, but that is mainly because we are "off season" right now; For the past two years, we have done about double our average page views during the summer months of June, July, and August.  Our forum is read and inhabited by technology enthusiasts, engineers, gamers, and all manner of generally smart people.

Anybody interested in advertising?  I have seen operationfabulous.com, but would prefer to sell directly, if anybody is interested.

How much for a banner add monthly?  Do you have a rotation system?
3238  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone know what happened to knightmb and his 371,000 BTC? on: May 20, 2011, 12:53:27 AM
Wow dude.

If I where you. I'd sell 1000 BTC every month for that current prize and fuck my day job. I'd happily pay taxes on that and life my life for the next 31 years in peace and riches..

I would sell the 1000 BTC a month as well as that would not effect the volume at mtgox substantially as 1 million were traded last month.  But I would keep my day job and bank the money in stocks, real estate and gold.  If bitcoin continued at similar prices after a few years THEN I would consider retiring.

3239  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: Digital Art - 2D, 3D, UI, web facelift, etc. on: May 19, 2011, 08:27:13 PM
For almost a decade and a half I've been working in digital art.  I've done everything from print design to AAA video games.  My primary work is in games.  I've shipped over a dozen game titles, each of them launching across all or most of the major consoles for the time.

Got a logo you want to improve?
Website presentation weak?
Working on an app that looks kinda "blah"?
Making a mobile game?
I'm looking to help anyone who has artistic needs and can pay in Bitcoins.
I'll do small amounts of introductory work for FREE.

Feel free to reply in the thread or send me a PM.

Yes, I have.  I have http://cryptoanarchy.us/ with basically no real branding.  It needs some help.

3240  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Miners, sell higher! on: May 19, 2011, 08:23:42 PM
I think the price is headed lower as some of the speculators get disappointed by the recent price drop and want out.  The days of making large profits speculating are over.  That is ok, I am here to use bitcoin as a currency not as an investment vehicle.

I am looking forward to the days that I can use a site like biddingpond.com (but with more traffic as is slowly increasing there) to sell stuff with small cut going to the the auction site but nothing like the 10% ebay is charging.
