Okcoin $BTCUSD Quarterly futures has liquidated a short position of 47857 contract at 1,065.58 - 2017-01-02 00:38:56

I tried to warm my friends on IRC about the dangers of shorting, but they wouldn't listen.. they think they can time the market, when this is impossible, you can only look forward to trying to predict the fundamentals, and the fundamentals are clearly telling us to buy and hold long term. People that bought every dip instead of trying to be the smartass that tries to short has made massive gains this year.

Bitcoin price decreased from $1130 to $946 recently.

Shorting can be profiable if done at the right time.

I was expecting that bitcoin price correction.

Now people will start massively claiming that they have foreseen this price correction

If you really expected it, why didn't you short Bitcoin after all? Those who actually expected it, poured their money into shorts. Not surprising that they mostly lost their coins. It is easy to be wise after the event. Folks had been expecting correction since the price reached 800 dollars per coin and so what? Market manipulators waited until people started to really put their money where their mouth is and then grabbed all their dough (as they always do)

The basics of trading for kids
This is how whale and bagholders do play regarding on bitcoins price and there are only two things of people in the market on which there are earners and there a losser or burnt out most of their coins.Trading/investing into bitcoin is not really an easy stuff specially if we are aiming on profits and we should really think smart first and control our emotions.Seeing the candle sticks on the bitcoin chart earlier sticks signifies already a downtrend which it does happen on yesterdays.
3222  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are your thoughts for Bitcoin in 2017? on: January 07, 2017, 03:11:17 PM
As we enter 2017, Bitcoin begins with a fresh start making it worth nearly $1000 per coin. Users, banks, and even governments are becoming more interested into Bitcoin, and its underlying technology called the Blockchain.

Now, as we progress into making Bitcoin more scalable and efficient than ever, I would like to know what are your thoughts for the pioneer cryptocurrency in 2017?

If all goes well for Bitcoin this year, it might increase its value more than $1000, as well as become closer to being used as a mainstream currency. What do you think?  Smiley
my opinion in value of bitcoin is it may go down and up again this year but you can say that its the proof that it still growing and about being mainstream currency its still not the time maybe a few more year or decade
Value of bitcoin would really definitely goes up and down because its price is unstable and we would really see that pace on bitcoin.Yes,bitcoin is still growing and its early years as of now and we could able to see its benefits and potential in the long run.Bitcoins price will gradually increase and improve as the years pass by.
3223  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Today's Best wallet on: January 07, 2017, 07:59:24 AM
I got a wallet from coinbase as I saw some where it was rated the best. I notice every time I buy some BTC there is a small transaction fee like $2. I also notice the price for BTC always seems to be $15 to $20 higher than what its actually trading at.
The current price in coinbase may differ to what the btcs current price in other exchanges. That 2$ fee charged from your transaction is for the purchase not an incomming transaction fee.
Quote
My questions are, is this typical of all wallets?
No. Coinbase is an exchange wallet. It differs functionality to other clients like a desktop wallet, hardware wallet, paper wallet, web wallets. etc.
Quote
Also I've never received BTC is there incoming fee's?
No. Fee is only charged upon sending a transaction. The sender always shoulder the fee and not the receiver.
This post answer all the queries of OP which is really helpful on clearing up those questions.I agree coinbase is just an exchange wallet therefore expect the rates would really be different among others not only on coinbase but all exchanges they really differ on bitcoin rates which you could able to see on your own eyes when you try to look at them.
3224  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Do you have any problems with your online wallet on: January 07, 2017, 07:28:56 AM
Im using blockchain and coinbase online web wallet and soo far i dont experience lost funds on my accounts or wallet but previously coinbase does have issues or rumors that it is being hacked but luckily they were able to clear it up and just made a maintainance which really gives false alarms on their users.
3225  Economy / Economics / Re: Let's Be Honest. We Are Waiting for $100/BTC to buy on: January 07, 2017, 07:11:50 AM
Probably it is hard to see bitcoin price reach $100 again, becouse the bitcoin price trend is up/positive. Also may be bitcoin price will keep rise up to $1500 USD in the end of 2017. So I think if we want to buy bitcoun it will be nice if we buy it now.

Yeah it is not even going to happen that we are going to see the bitcoin's price go back to $100. But anything can happen right now and the price of bitcoin is falling after its rapid increase. It is now on rapid decrease, but if it will ever going to happen that it will going to be $100 all of the sudden, then probably I'll buy.
Seeing bitcoins rapid price decrease doesnt really mean that it would possibly go back again to $100 mark which is somehow an impossible thing to happen. It may drop for now but not that low because if bitcoins price would crash to the bottom i think there are problem happening on bitcoins ecosystem.
3226  Economy / Speculation / Re: The China Effect on: January 07, 2017, 06:22:43 AM

We can not do anything with bitcoin because chinese demand is too high and Once there are anything happened with bitcoin or chinese investors of bitcoins. that is very big problem because They owned biggest bitcoins in the world (90% bitcoin amount from China). I think we need another digital coin for the rest of the world.

Where did you get the source that 90% bitcoins are from China, that's an absurdly high number.
90% is too high to consider since showing this number means they owned most of bitcoin that circulates throughout  the globe. We dont need another coin and also no coin would able to get the reputation that is being built by bitcoin now these years but i do believe that they own huge numbers of bitcoin.
3227  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Rats Running From Bitcoin To Zcash on: January 06, 2017, 09:38:59 AM
What crypto currency you think is most secure now?
Title is misleading for me because you are asking for the most secure crpyto currency and you are mentioning about zcash which is somehow an advertisement for me instead of query.Well for me the most secure until now is bitcoin and those alts are just a clone on this feature which they cant really surpass bitcoin no matter what.
3228  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase hack rumor on: January 06, 2017, 07:36:00 AM
Its all fixed now and coinbase is already working smooth as usual maybe they have just a maintenance and seeing the coin stored on my wallet there no problem at all because there no lost amount of btc on which some people said about coinbase.I would still use this wallet and have trust on this service.
3229  Economy / Speculation / Re: Another Bubble Bursts – Bitcoin China Crashes Over 30% on: January 06, 2017, 07:25:32 AM
Bitcoin price has not fallen as past. Even though, chinese sold their bitcoins being panic of their government, still bitcoin has recovering from the fall as you can see its price has increased from $920 to $975. Happy days continuing for bitcoin holders.
I really dont know whats the true reason behind this pullback on bitcoins price and we saw almost 20% crash on yesterdays price and now it tends to move up again and stabilizing again on $980- 1k price. We wont see again those epic crashes happen on previous years because we saw theres a good support on bitcoins price as of now.
3230  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin is Freedom on: January 06, 2017, 06:53:50 AM
The future belongs to decentralized breakthrough technologies. Cryptocurrency Bitcoin as a whole and in particular will forever change the way that we carry out today a transaction, and thus will play a crucial role in the economy of the future.

And because of it many people will have financial freedom too as long as they are going to start working with bitcoin. Also it can be a threat to the economy for those people who are going to be affected once bitcoin is going to be accepted globally. I just hope that those people will also adopt bitcoins so that everyone will have their freedom with bitcoin.
Most of us would really be glad to see that bitcoin is being adopted globally because of its benefits and you say because of freedom from tax but this advantage on us will surely give negative effects on economic state on our certain country which is really bad.I really dont know if its good or not.
3231  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin can not replace fiat on: January 06, 2017, 06:39:44 AM
for now peoples believe bitcoin can't replace fiat because most of the payment by fiat such as the necessities of life and I'm sure most users bitcoin exchanging bitcoin them to their country's local currency (fiat)
Yes agree, I never thought that bitcoin is created to replace the fiat money. I am hope as now, easy to use, it could be accepted in many places or many countries and of course the prices always go up but not too significant, I think it's quite up 15% per year.

Indeed it is not created for this but this can also not happen because the currency's are simply protected by banks and the government.
Banks strongly regulate all financial relationships in the world, so they can accurately prevent destroy fiat. Each State is interested in it and will not give bitcoin.
Its really backed and protected by the government thats why fiat cant really be destroyed no matter how bitcoin will progress in the future. Each state would really not give bitcoin a way and major of them will surely do that because they already know the possible effects that will bitcoin gives.
3232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero exchance centralization... a danger? on: January 06, 2017, 06:05:20 AM
If Poloniex goes out of course, there will be more important to worry about than whatever quantity of Monero you will buy. Poloniex is the king of the altcoins exchange, storing incredible amounts of money. If Poloniex gets taken down by an attack, I think you can say that all altcoins of the platform except maybe Litecoin or Ethereum will be deceased with the platform. I am not a Monero specialist and I do not have an opinion on it so talking about Monero's problems preciously can not be done with me.
This is really true,Poloniex doesnt only a somehow storage for monero coin trading but most of all alts that exist on the market especially on the most potential coins and which means not only monero would be affected but all those alts which are being traded their. We all know polo is one of the biggest exchange as far as i know because of its volumes and if it is hacked then many coins will surely suffer.
3233  Economy / Services / Re: $50 for a Nutella sandwich on: January 06, 2017, 05:31:28 AM
I'll pay you $50 to make me a Nutella sandwich and ship it over to Australia via regular shipping.

Cannot wait, boner up the tit  Tongue Tongue Kiss Smiley
Save yourself that 50$ and just buy yourself a sandwich and a small nutella cream enough for a single sandwich. I think it'll cost you 20$. Plus no hassle.
You are right why should OP seeks for hassle thing if he could able to buy from a near store on his place and that $50 amount is already enough to make a sandwich and no one would really like to create a sandwich and ship it to your place which really makes no sense to me. Huh
3234  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase hack rumor on: January 06, 2017, 04:36:01 AM
Now what? Is anyone experiencing this problem or is it just me? 3 multiple login attempt and got this error.

Will try to login later and see if it will prompt again like that.

I can't load it either, but http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/coinbase.com reports that it's up.
Im experiencing the same thing too which shows me error and shows this blue page too.I dont know whats the reason and same as yours i checked it if its up or down but it say "UP" and i really want to know whats happening on coinbase?I do have transaction to made since my bitcoin was stored there.Hope this would be fixed.
3235  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase hack rumor on: January 06, 2017, 04:19:33 AM
somebody was trying to capitalize on the Coinbase situation of being out of service, it is possible that they were attacked just to spread this lie and FUD to make more profit from the fall.
the coinbase support did answer this here afterall https://community.coinbase.com/t/coinbase-was-hacked-and-they-are-lying-about-the-situation/13187/19
Thanks for the link buddy and now i know that this rumor will stay really as a false rumor because support staff of coinbase already answers the allegation regarding on their service and i am right not to believe at the first place because i cant believe that coinbase would easily be hacked.
3236  Economy / Speculation / Re: Welcome back 2014! on: January 05, 2017, 05:27:31 PM
I think this will be a little different from the last 2014 years. in 2014 the price may fall too deep, and even the price of nearly $ 200. but, I feel that this year the price of bitcoin will last at prices above $ 950, and maybe more. I believe this year bitcoin be better.
It is really different and im not hoping that bitcoin would go back again to the price the same on year 2014 because its really a long long way to reach this price now on bitcoin and it cant really easily dip its price that low unless if all people will sell off their coin then its possible. Bitcoin price is stabilizing again on $940-980
3237  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Steam accepting btc - will it affect the forum market? on: January 05, 2017, 05:16:23 PM
Steam is accepting indeed already for a while and I cannot say its really changing it or popular, I think that it will also not affect it in the future.

how you can be so sure that the current pump was not also possible because of steam accepting bitcoin? there are more than 13M people that use steam, there are high chances that many are using bitcoin to buy games there

I don't know why these people just appreciate on how steam's acceptance is a good attribute to the whole bitcoin economy.

Regardless if the price increases or not, just the acceptance of steam for its bitcoin payment is already a good thing to appreciate.

Totally a big thing since just imagine how many steam user got in the whole world and if their huge numbers of player will try to used it surely it has great effect on bitcoins itself since steam acceptance surely be the one of the greatest happening on bitcoins history and might it affects on demand on bitcoins,

And also i dont think steam acceptance got huge impact or this current price rise since the acceptance made for those back long months and the 1000$ milestone has been reach in this year 2017.
We cant tell a thing if steam give impact or not because no one really knows the reason why bitcoin price suddenly reach on $1k price again on this year.Even steam adopted or accepted bitcoin as a payment but most players still use the conventional way because most of them dont really have idea on what is bitcoin and if someone got curios about that new payment system then he might able to know bitcoin but still depends on a person though.

I think we can tell yes, Steam doesn't influence anything about the Bitcoin price. Since the middle or beginning of 2016, I don't remember, Steam already accepts BTCs as payment method and it didn't change the Bitcoin price, no big influence from this, because most Steam's members don't know what is Bitcoin and I'm sure many of them didn't have interest to start using Bitcoins or to learning what is it.
It doesnt really affect bitcoins price and same as you said steam already accepted bitcoin as a payment last year and it doesnt really affect too much the price because of lack of knowledge on most players who uses it thats why its somehow useless but its really beneficial to those people who knows bitcoin.
3238  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin's Next Direction 2017 Predictions on: January 05, 2017, 04:54:30 PM
Hello,

After successfully predicting BTC moves in 2016 here on the forum, I have a new set of 2017 predictions that I'm using to trade the current move.

1. Rise to $1,200-$1,300 (Current move)
2. Correction to $800-$900 level and range trading for a while
3. Rise to $1,500
4. Correction to $900-$1,000 and range trading for a while
5. Continued rise to $2,000 by end of year

tldr; BTC will double this year after making a couple of moves up and down.

I agree with this analysis generally, however i think the pullbacks to $800 - $ 900 from $1200-$1300 are abit severe.  but yes by the end of the year bar any great catastrophe we will see $2000.  Grin

The pullback is happening now. The numbers are general guides for my trading but I am always ready to adjust when the trend changes.

For example, I knew step 2 was next and so my stop loss was set at $1150 regardless and my take profit at $1250 just in case we reached it.

Either way it's a good profit and I will now wait for it to drop and stabilize before buying again.
Yes, we already witnessed the pull back just on this day on which we reach the all time low of $880+ which considered as correctional on its price and now seeing again the price tends to move again. This thing is really an expected event which do happens anytime on bitcoins price movements.
3239  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase hack rumor on: January 05, 2017, 04:43:26 PM
I wont believe this news unless Coinbase will give a word regarding on this matter.I just logged in on my coinbase acccount and it works well and nothing happens on my bitcoin. Therefore theres no signs of being hack or compromised on coinbase.Ill follow this thread if this is true or just hoax.
3240  Economy / Speculation / Re: Please give me advice, Bitcoin will rise again or go to hell? I'm scared on: January 05, 2017, 04:08:54 PM
I'm scared because price Bitcoin down, I do not know what to do with Bitcoin at this time Cry
Theres nothing to be scared since this event will surely happen to bitcoin and now we already witnessed the sudden price decrease and its really a bit worrying thing seeing the price going down so fast but now it tends to rise up again and these kind of events does really happen and there nothing to worry or panic.
