Any intervention or rehab center that rehabilitates addiction is a good start because they cater a wide variety of addictions. Also, try to talk to the person first before anything else  because getting them by surprise is going to be a stupid thing to do because it will be against their will and they might resent you for the intervention.

Correct.

If you guys had watched "The Platform" which is a "rehabilitation" center, they also talk to the people about their addiction, if they really wanted to be in the platform and will be released after a certain period amount of time, but however, it's more than that. I think that's the very effective way of curing addiction, I mean, limiting their sources to avoid getting contact with their addiction, to slowly remove it on their habit and replace it with something more helpful and will not cause any problems to them.
3222  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online gambling becomes popular on: June 09, 2021, 12:47:53 PM
That's the main issue I always had with casinos. They let you deposit no problem, no questions asked. But out of a sudden they start their delaying tactics when it comes to pay outs, hoping you start gambling again and lose it all before you even had a fair chance to pass the KYC.

The sheer number of casinos is so crazy in the online sphere, but there is one and the same company behind many of them. It is a gigantic cluster of companies that are related with each other in one way or another.
If that happens often, maybe that will be the time for us to search for the other casino because I am sure that the other casino will not do the same. I think many of us have the same experience as you. That is why we need to be carefully selecting the casino and if somehow we got that problem, we do not need to use them anymore. That kind of casino will not grow bigger because they make their members problem and do not want to fix it. Besides that, we can easily find the other casino that can treat us better.

That's why it is important to have a research first about a certain casino that you wanted to deposit your money to be able to play on their site, to avoid being surprise with their sudden KYC verification upon withdrawing your winnings, especially if it is a new gambling site platform. Depositing on well reputed gambling site will give you much convenience because KYC verification is much other compare to other gambling site.
3223  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Prayer and gambling. on: June 09, 2021, 11:58:14 AM
That's why I believe that it is just a personal belief and habit before doing gambling.
And whether he is lucky or not, some strategies and right decision at that time when gambling also will really influence the loss or win.
Agreed, not everyone has to be doing it, it's a matter of preference and perspective, if you think it can help you then probably do it. But to be on a rational side of things, just because you pray doesn't mean that you can win and even if you win, it's just a coincidence, be responsible for your actions and don't pray for it.

Exactly.

Not because you pray for something means you'll receive it or have it accurately. Sometimes the answers on our prayer is different, or maybe delayed, because God knows what's better for us. If you lose, even you prayed to win, maybe it was a sign that God gave to you, to realize something, to never play gambling again, it's up to you whether you'll accept the sign or ignore it and continue playing gambling.
3224  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: There's no lottery ticket in Bitcoin, it's a savings account on: June 08, 2021, 02:50:26 PM
Bitcoin certainly isn't a lottery. It is not based on luck. You need to be knowledgeable enough before you decide to enter the cryptocurrency community. It is really risky to start something you know nothing about. You should first study before diving into investing or trading bitcoin.

I agree that you should not put all of your funds at once, especially knowing that bitcoin's nature is volatile. Its price may go high or low anytime of the day and it's the usual scenario. If all what you have is enough to sustain your daily needs, then I suggest you do not risk it. You should learn to limit yourself risking what you can only afford to lose. Put aside your funds that are alloted to your necessities, separate your savings, and separate the amount you want to invest and risk in bitcoin. Just always remember that you must not be easily shaken when things go haywire, otherwise, you'll lose. Learn to calculate things and risk according to your risk appetite.
3225  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Global adoption — A ridiculous term on: June 08, 2021, 02:00:19 PM
Global adoption is the common term used by the users not because it will be literally used by everyone, but because it will be available to the most part of the world. Global adoption has its pros and cons. Bitcoin's adoption would lead to bigger community that will benefit most users because there will be more investors pumping the market. On the other hand, this may also cause to a situation wherein the government would try their chance to regulate it.

Personally, I want bitcoin to be mass adopted so that many people can be aware and benefit. You see, bitcoin has so many features that central banks don't have such as having decentralize nature, anonymity, high security, and so on. In addition, it is a good investment vehicle and a medium of exchange as well. I want other people to experience what I enjoy, but of course, only if they want to.

Regarding the issue about those people pushing global adoption for additional wealth, I just want to say that not everyone is like that. Sure, there are people using the opportunity of pushing bitcoin's adoption for their own benefit, but it shouldn't bother you much. It's not as if they are stealing something. They are just promoting and utilizing their resources. I think it's a win-win scenario as long as they're transparent to the future users (that will be generated from global adoption) about the risks. After all, it's not always about the money alone.
3226  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin truly moving forward? on: June 08, 2021, 01:05:19 PM
In my perspective, bitcoin is indeed moving forward. From the day of its establishment, major positive changes were seen. Of course there are some bumps along the way, but bitcoin managed to overcome. There were numerous instances that its value dumped because of several allegations and false statements made by some known people. Bitcoin's reputation has been tampered, especially to the mainstream media because of scams and schemes they are trying hard to relate bitcoin with. However, bitcoin is still soaring and even managed to surpass the threshold.

Bitcoin is known for its decentralized nature and its volatile rate. It is normal and usual day if its high value goes down and vice-versa. If you are worrying about bitcoin's position on the chart, fret not if you are an investor. Because surely its value will recover and bounce back in no time. It is the traders job to monitor the price in the market because that is how they make profit.
3227  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is scam, Generated out of thin air while US dollar generated out of Gold on: June 08, 2021, 12:15:18 PM
You are way outdated. Joe Biden was elected and is now seated at the White Palace, and Donald Trump's term has passed already. This has even no connection about bitcoin. In addition, bitcoin is not a scam. It has proven its potential for years already and made many people a millionaire by investing on it. It is a promising asset that's why the majority are starting to put their funds because they've heard and seen how its price move on the chart.

Bitcoin is often associated with scams because a lot of people are using it as a bait for those who are naive. You won't see it as such if you'll eagerly read and study about it.
3228  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin as safe as its believers say? on: June 08, 2021, 11:40:43 AM
What do you pertain by the word "safe" in your question? That word has so many meaning in bitcoin community. I suggest you clarify so the readers can answer directly on what you are trying to ask. But to answer it, generally speaking, yes, bitcoin is safe as long as you know what you are doing.

In terms of privacy, bitcoin provides anonymity that secures the identity of the person having a transaction. It doesn't require a KYC (unless you are using a platform that requires it) that stores your personal data and is prone to hacking that leads to identity theft and such. This is a plus because it provides a safety net to the users.

In terms of having it as a storage of funds, it is safe as long as you secured your device as well as the pin you used. They can't just open your wallet and steal because it is secured with unique cryptography.

In terms of having it as an investment vehicle, it is safe as long as you are knowledgeable enough about its nature. Bitcoin is volatile so you should manage your expectations. It is risky especially if you are just following the hype. So you should really know the basics and fundamentals before risking.

I hope I managed to answer your question. You can also research to verify and to gain more knowledge about it.
3229  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Economic Costs of Gambling on: June 07, 2021, 03:33:07 PM
What are your thoughts on this topic?
Gambling is not good for addicts, people should not be addicted to gambling, the fact remain the more someone gamble the more the person will lose. Gambling should be for fun and not for profit or money making, if someone see gambling as a way to profit or make money, he will lose, that is just the fact, such people are the ones that are even getting addicted.

Gambling also have more benefit, it provides jobs for many people, this is the benefit many governments sees and not even bother about it because job creation does a lot to the economy. The best is to all the time tell people not to use the money they can not afford to lose to gamble because they can lose it while gambling, also people should not be addicted, but gambling contributed to economy development.

I guess you're being one sided here.

The whole story needs positive and negative side of it, or the advantages and disadvantages. Sure thing it gives job for people (who works for the casino and the one operating the whole gambling site) but it will never be a good source of income to people who are thinking about playing gambling to earn money. Besides, you can never dictate yourself not to be addicted in gambling, I mean, it will happen if it will happen.

If people wants to be addicted on gambling, it's his choice, and we make our own choices.
3230  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you limit your gambling time? on: June 07, 2021, 02:20:36 PM
many times simply "being disciplined" is easier said than done.

to limit the access to addicting behavior probably two usefull ways are:
- using and alarm or timer (so you set a right time to do the acitivity)
- limiting bankroll available

do you see other possibilities?

I don't really think what you've mentioned are effective.

I mean, gamblers will always be excited to play gamble every single day, and waiting would not help especially if they have nothing to do anymore, so why bother waiting. Also, limiting their bankroll is imposible as well, especially if they are winning too much, which next move will be betting too much and losing too much, that leads to playing the whole day chasing the losses.
Limiting the money can help them limit their time to playing gambling because when their limit money is almost reached, they will see that the time to stop is closer, so they need to stop it right away. But that will depend on how good they can control themselves to follow the limit that they already used because if they add more money, that will not work and they can continue playing gambling. That can lead them to get more losses, and once they lose, they will try to recover it.

That'll be only effective if they can stop themselves on being greedy and frustrated about their losses, because if not, then they will always find themselves depositing more just to won back what they have lost. It's a loop where they will be trap and will get addicted to gambling even more if they can't control their feelings towards on what will happen.

Limiting the amount of money they will use in gambling is effective and will be always effective if and only if they know what to do once they hit their limit. Self-discipline and emotionally prepared is a must to withstand any frustration and greed.
3231  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Prayer and gambling. on: June 07, 2021, 12:57:50 PM
If you believe in religion, then I assume you believe in God and devil existence.

Now, from whatever religion you are at right now, Bible prohibited gambling, because it's a sin. Now, if you win in gambling because you prayed before betting, then it's not a blessing from God, but a blessing from the devil, because that's what the devil wants, for us to do things that are prohibited from the Bible. It's a win win situation for the devil for him to have more companions when the judgment day comes.
3232  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Be a Responsible Gambler on: June 07, 2021, 12:11:34 PM
If you are a person who live your life with what you earn and all of the sudden if there is no way to earn/there is no way to earn money due to lockdown don't go into gambling. This will completely destroy your life and creates issue in relationship. I assure this will happen, even if you don't have money for food request help with someone. You'll get your food, have it with peace than ending in frustration.

I agree with you, if we lose our job we shouldn't look at gambling as our new source of income. There is a lot of risk involved in gambling, its very similar to trading. Even with the best strategy we don't have a guarantee of winning. So rely on gambling is just wrong. We should only use money that we can afford to lose.

Relying on just one "source" of income (gambling) is like giving yourself more problem financially, because playing gambling doesn't mean you're gonna make profits on it instantly just like what you read on a certain article that hit the jackpot and went home with a huge amount of money, that doesn't go that way every time, and to every people who'll play gambling.

Those who treat gambling as a way to make money never really make money on it, it's the other way around. Gambling is just an escape on reality, that's why most of the people called it "entertainment" and some of them just got lucky to be able to win the jackpot. It's once in a lifetime situation that could never happen twice on the same person.
3233  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online gambling becomes popular on: June 07, 2021, 11:30:28 AM
No one will ask who you are, where you from when you gamble on a crypto casino and that's one reason why it became popular this pandemic times.
In some crypto gambling sites, KYC may be required when you wish to withdraw your fund. But we also have crypto casinos that don't require us to verify identities. Crypto gambling site have grown in popularity among the crypto community during the pandemic and I believe there has been a significant increase during that time. Regardless of the situation, one should consider depositing fund on a reputable site as many fraudulent site may be after players' money during this upgrade.

I am always suspicious of casinos that easily accept money but issue it with additional conditions. In my opinion, this is very close to a scam. I see it as a scamming amusement of two different questions. The first is whether the casino is ready to play with this player or not. And the second question is the receipt and issuance of money. It is very strange when the casino is ready to accept money and play with it, but is not ready to give out the winnings.

You got a point.

But if they are going to be practical, they'll choose everyday not to turn into a scam because they won't earn money anymore if they'll run off with the huge amount of money deposited by their customers, it's just one time big time but running a gambling site effectively in the long run is much better, much money they could earn while maintaining their reputation in gambling industry (online).

Also, big gambling sites won't be that fishy when they required KYC before or when their customer are cashing out their money, unless it's a newly made gambling site with a poor UI, then that's when you should be careful and have a second thought about depositing money on it.
3234  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would you bet on climbing challenges on: June 05, 2021, 12:53:26 PM
The pictures you have shown doesn't look like an indoor sports to me. Sports Climbing in an actual cliff or mountain is very dangerous, everything could go wrong, if you know what I mean. Rock formations in cliff or mountain sometimes are not strong enough to hold the weight of the climber, without proper harness and safety equipment, the climber would die.

So for me, It's a no go for betting since life is in the line. I feel like my heart is gonna stop every time I see a life and death situation unexpectedly.
3235  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Where to seek help if you need; concerned with gambling addiction. on: June 04, 2021, 01:20:24 PM
Should be in order.

1. Seek help into your loved ones like family and relative.
2. Professional help

But honestly yourself realization would be the fastest treatment of all.If you don't like problems then better avoid gambling if you are a person which does have
impulsive or way too emotional on dealing with it because risk of addiction is high so better avoid it.

100%, I agree to this.

Self-realization is the first big step to cure your gambling addiction, and that's where you should start seeking help if you can't do it by yourself. Accepting that you are addicted in gambling means that you are aware of your problem, that you are really serious about quitting on being addicted, and not just some temporary reason for everybody's attention.

3237  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Tapos na ba ang bullrun? 2021 on: June 04, 2021, 10:59:51 AM
No one can precisely tell if the bullrun is over. Although you can look at the trends to base what your next move would be. Personally, bullish and bearish markets are beneficial if only you know how to utilize those situations well. Whenever it is the bullish market season, our holdings appreciate value. During this time, you can either withdraw some of your funds if you needed to since it is the best time to exchange your crypto to fiat due to high pricing

Meanwhile, during the bearish market, our holdings depreciate value. This is the worst time to sell (if ever you bought it at a higher position), and withdraw your funds. Although this has a positive impact as well because you can buy the dip. Buy those coins that you've seen has a nice potential to have a price soar once the bearish market is over.

You can always benefit both sides of the market. You just have to use it to your own advantage to avoid being shaken and rattled.

3238  Local / Pamilihan / Re: GCash is planning to add cryptocurrencies! on: June 04, 2021, 09:10:28 AM
It's a piece of great news that mass adoption is slowly happening. Baby steps until we fully achieve it. Gcash is one of the most leading e-wallet applications used here in our country. It will be more convenient for Filipino traders to have cryptocurrency in Gcash app. Although they're still looking into bringing crypto to their platform, so it means they aren't still sure about adopting it yet. But hopefully, they'll give a great service. Really wishing they'll land on nice partnerships to provide quality service to future users.

If ever this will happen any time in the future, I hope they would put features that are far more ahead of their competitors such as having a direct exchange so that it won't be a hassle converting numerous times.

3239  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin - Medium of Exchange Vs Store of Value? on: June 04, 2021, 08:35:38 AM
It actually depends on the perspective of the person viewing it. Although to answer directly, bitcoin can be both a medium of exchange and a store of value. You see, many users are using it as a mode of payment in their purchases online that they wanted to secure anonymity and of course, convenience. Bitcoin is also used to buy several items and assets, although it just has a longer processing time and higher fees, but that's another topic.

Bitcoin can also be a store of value since it has a very promising potential. It is called a safe haven for a reason. Many people are already investing in bitcoin because they have seen its positive movement in charts. Personally, I see bitcoin as a good investment vehicle because it isn't prone to hyperinflation, unlike fiat money.

So, it will really be up to you if you want to use bitcoin as a medium of exchange or as a store of value. You do what you want with it in accordance with your needs.

3240  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin could win the currency war on: June 04, 2021, 08:02:41 AM
Bitcoin has been showing promising potential over the years. No doubt, it is one of the best coins in the cryptocurrency world. However, bitcoin isn't acknowledged as a currency yet by the majority of the countries in the world. Bitcoin being safe from hyperinflation is one of the greatest reasons why many people have invested and are starting to invest in it. Compared to fiat money that is prone to hyperinflation, bitcoin is a safe haven because the central banks can always print more money base on what the economy needs, meanwhile, bitcoin is limited.

Mass adoption will happen, but it won't be a ticket of assurance that bitcoin will conquer the currency war. The government won't allow such entities (crypto) to overtake the control that they possessed for such a long time. Government is devious. They will not let it happen. Central banks have reigned long before until today. The government will do their ways so that bitcoin will not easily dethrone fiat.
