I see this javascript mining as a good alternative to ads. can not be worse than these stupid flash banners or autoplaying videos with audio

I don't see it as a good alternative to ads. Malware is malware, plain and simple.

I agree almost nothing can be worse than annoying autoplaying flash videos with audio. It's one of the worst forms of malware.

I've tried to avoid autoplaying videos by not upgrading my flash player so that Firefox doesn't start it automatically and I have to manually allow it to start. This often helps but many ads still autostart.

Another annoyance is videos that re-position themselves on-screen when you mute the sound and scroll them out of sight.

I suppose advertising does serve a purpose in that it lets you know what products to boycott, but at times it gets so infuriating that I want to actively badmouth the products.

Does anyone know of a good ad blocker that targets this annoying malware?

Breaking News:

Even Cristiano Ronaldo is now mining crypto currencies !!!!

Just visit -infected site- and pay attention to your cpu workload.

I clicked on your link and my antivirus said it was infected with JSMiner.

If my CPU and/or GPUs are going to mine coins, I'd rather get them myself.

Lol Jimbo, you know as well as I do that nothing is impossible in Bitcoinland.  We could have an ATH 20 minutes hence.  Grin

You'll notice I said almost impossible.

I'd love to see a flash rally. Tomorrow's my day in Micgoossen's ATH guessing game.  Cheesy

As I said, it seemed so promising last weekend, not so much now.  Cry

Good morning Bitcoinland.

I see we bounced right back after yesterday's little dips and we're pretty much where we were 4-5 days ago... currently $4330USD/$5430CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Meanwhile AltCash continues its downward spiral... currently $363USD/$453CAD (Coinmarketcap).

It was looking so promising last weekend that maybe we'd see an ATH this week. Now that's almost impossible. Maybe by the end of the month.  Undecided

femonemos

sigh, I guess I am resident language nazi for the day

phenomenons

sorry

Do not apologize.

Many people here speak other languages natively. The only way they will learn proper English is if people teach them.

Intentional colloquialisms in spelling and grammar are acceptable. Simple ignorance should be corrected.

Pardon me if I also prefer correct punctuation.

Keep up the good work.

P.S. That should be "phenomena".  Cheesy

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Down a couple of benjamins I see, but over a third of the way back... currently $4300USD/$5378CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Most alts also down... AltCash currently at $399USD/$499CAD (Coinmarketcap).

I don't see any immediate reason for this strange dip but it's not that deep, certainly not worth buying. We're basically back to where we were the day before yesterday. Strange stuff.

We'll see where Bitcoin goes. So far, it's been exploding pretty well. I think I was right with the coin needing some time before rebounding. We'll see how much further it gets on this climb.

Oct. 8 is conspicuously open.

What happens if it falls on that date?

But there is only ONE state in Spain. There are some people that seem to want to "secede".... We are fine with that, as long as they do it outside Spanish territory. Maybe they should move to France and try to do that stunt there... I don't think their police will be as soft with their "secesion" attempts.
I think Catalonia considers themselves to be a state, I mean, they even have their own president and police.

Some people never seem to learn from history.

Here in Canada, Quebecois sovereignty was not a big issue until Pierre Trudeau overreacted to a small amount of violence by a small group of separatists (the FLQ) by invoking the War Measures Act at a time when the majority of Quebecois still wished to remain in Canada.

The result was tragic. Separatist sentiment swelled and Canada faced a serious constitutional crisis.

Fortunately, Trudeau was smart enough to learn from his error, let democracy run its course, and after a series of nail-biting referendums Quebec is still part of Canada and separatist sentiment is on the wane.

Luckily, the UK had enough sense to approach the Scottish separatist crisis democratically and let the people speak. The people decided to stay.

The heavy-handed response of the Spanish government only served to increase support for Catalan independence. The world saw images of bloodied elderly women and ballot boxes being seized.

Then the results came in from the mostly rural areas where voting was not prevented. Polls had shown that a majority had opposed separatism, especially in Barcelona. It seems they prevented mostly non-separatists from voting.

What the world saw was acts of violence against democratic process and a landslide victory for the separatists at the polls. This was a total public relations disaster for the Spanish government. All they had to do to prevent this was to let the referendum proceed. They'd already declared the referendum to be "illegal" and so they could easily declare the results to be null and void if the Yes side won. If the No side won they could have used it to reinforce unity.

Instead they dug themselves deeper in a hole. The American civil war was a blood-soaked disaster with resentment still smoldering to this day, and the Spanish civil war was even worse. Violence is not the answer.

When will they ever learn?

Isn't it time for a new poll?

Is this Forum full of 'normal people' who over the years became filthy rich?

That's a loaded question.

How do you define "normal"? Are normal people into cryptography?

What do you consider to be "filthy" rich? More than $100m USD?

What is "full"? I'm sure a few innovators and very early adopters hold tens or hundreds of thousands of bitcoins, but they are a very tiny minority.

Anyone with a few hundred coins is now a millionaire but that doesn't make you rich in any developed country. $1m won't even buy you a decent house in downtown Toronto. I'd consider $10m to be the minimum to be considered rich.
_____

Indeed there are quite a few people here who have saved up enough coins to become comfortable or even to be considered rich in some 3rd-world countries, but they don't represent the majority. Not yet anyhow.

Check out UBIQ

I did and I don't see what this has to do with Bitcoin.

Please move this thread to the Altcoin folder.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Still edging upwards at a nice fairly steady rate... currently $4415USD/$5519CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

AltCash still stalled at $424USD/$530CAD (Coinmarketcap).

At this rate we just might see $5k by the end of the week.

Go Bitcoin go.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Nice to see a slow creep upwards... currently $4307USD/$5374CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Altcash stalled at $440USD/$550CAD (Coinmarketcap).

Let's see what the new month and the closing of the Chinese exchanges bring.

My guess is up.

Children are not good investment.

That depends how you look at it.

My mother once said that children are an investment and grandchildren are the dividends.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

I see we had a nice little correction after yesterday's decent rise... currently $4165USD/$5195 (Bitcoinaverage). That's still up on the day.

AltCash is hanging in, also up a smidgen at $459USD/$572CAD (Coinmarketcap). Back in #3 ahead of Rip(off)ple.

Let's keep this uptrend smooth, steady and not too fast, but not too slow either.

What a recovery, did not expect this. Any reason behind it? Been out of the loop for a few days

Standard Bitcoin behavior. Nothing unusual.

Hope everyone stocked up when the price was down.

My only dream is that Altcash heads back to 0.20/btc so I can unload the rest that I have.

My dream is that Altcash will find its way into anonymous ATMs or other OTC channels so I can sell/convert mine without compromising the anonymity of the associated real bitcoins.

I don't. Average Joe is going to have a hell of a time figuring out the difference between a BitcoinTM ATM vs. a Bitcoin Cash ATM. Especially when their names sound identical and their logos are virtually identical.

All by design I'm sure.

Powers That Be: "If we can't block the growth of BitcoinTM, then we can slow it down or compromise it by confusing the shit out of newbs with similar forks in order to divide, dilute, and conquer. Their sorry asses won't know the difference until they try to spend it somewhere."

I'm sure the next fork will be called Bitcoin Money and have just a slight turn of the logo. Maybe even upside down.  Roll Eyes

Annoying isn't it?

It's hard enough to find ATMs with decent fees that allow you to sell coins and even harder to find ones that handle ETH or LTC. I've never seen any other alt available through an ATM.

My best hope is for an OTC source. I dream wistfully for the good old days when most exchanges were completely anonymous.
