Thanks to my young GF for making me feel less old  Smiley

Good morning Bitcoinland.

I see we had a proper correction/retrace of about $1k from yesterday's gaudy top and are consolidating in the mid-$10xxx range... currently $10670USD/$14130CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

This is excellent. Up too far too fast isn't good. Slow and steady wins the race.

Go Bitcoin go.

I remember that storm. I was at the Skydome when it hit. They started to close the roof around the 6th inning but I didn't realize how hard it was raining until after the game. As I was walking up the ramp toward the elevators the  place went dark and the emergency lights came on. I'd never seen the field dark before. Thank gawd I wasn't in the elevator when the power went out. I later read stories about people trapped in flooded elevators who barely escaping drowning.

It took me 2 hours to make the (normally 15 minute) trip home. There were no taxicabs and the Spadina car was stopped by streetcars floating under the Gardiner Expressway, as evidenced by your photo. I arrived home thoroughly soaked to find my basement flooded to a depth of 4 inches.

Luckily it wasn't from a backed up drain, just from rainwater overwhelming the drain in the back stairwell so it was clean water. It took a few days of 2 industrial dehumidifiers and every fan I owned to thoroughly dry the place out and avoid a mold/mildew nightmare.

That was one helluva storm. Thanx for the memories.

A splendid good morning Bitcoinland...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EoJJcixSfjo

I see we had a nice $500 correction/retrace, then another AYH at the lovely binary price of 28 ($11100)...

Oops it's going up again as I type... currently  $11135USD/$14735CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

This is definitely gentlemen (and ladies too). Are we rich yet?

Go Bitcoin go.

Oh look. Another AYH. How nice.  Smiley
2326  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 21, 2019, 04:20:58 PM

You don't take this crap seriously, do you?

It's all crypto this and crypto that. When he does actually mention Bitcoin, it's stuck on the end of a list of shitcoins.

He fails to distinguish between decentralized fixed-supply currencies and corporate scams.

What a crock.
2327  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 21, 2019, 01:54:23 PM
Well good morning Bitcoinland.

Another AYH over $9.9k, another healthy correction/retrace... currently $9772USD/$12900CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

All is well in Bitcoinland.

Go Bitcoin go.

I'm back!
Things smell the same since my 1+ year absence.
Is Jimbo still around?

Still alive and kicking.

Back from a winter in Mexico with my pretty Mexican GF and nice new bottom teeth. Gotta wait until next year for the top ones. One of the implants failed so I got another bone graft and will try again in November. Another summer without chomping apples and corn in the cob. Sigh.

How about you? Feeling better? Things going well?

Glad you're back.
2328  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 20, 2019, 02:53:42 PM
Good morning Bitcoinland.

Still sidling along in the low $9xxx range I see... currently $9360USD'$12340CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Let's go Bitcoin. We want 5 digits.

Unfortunately millennials of today are hypnotised by social media and they are or will be our biggest users/accumulators of btc.

I agree they are hypnotized by (anti-) social media but disagree with them being our biggest accumulators of BTC. Bitcoin is the product of Gen-Xers who still have the biggest holdings. Many of the other big holders are Boomers (who brought us the microcomputer revolution and internet) whose technological superiority and greater wealth has allowed them to accumulate larger holdings.

Quote
There are few who can handle new wealth but many who can’t, dangers of a quickly acquired wealth combined with constantly seeking approval and fame amongst others is a recipe for disaster in many cases.

Ain't that the truth.

That mixture of the fear of real social interaction as opposed to anti-social withdrawal into a false world of texting, combined with an obsession with selfies, celebrities, fame and narcissism, doesn't bode well for handling real life including money management'

Hell, some can't even feed themselves properly. They're to stupid or lazy to prepare themselves good healthy food at home, and in some cases too lazy to even go out to a restaurant so they call Ubereats or Whydodishes so the don't have to go out and face the real world.

When they do leave their little cloisters of withdrawal, they pay for things with credit cards instead of real cash, regardless of compound interest. Money management skills? Lawl.
2329  Economy / Speculation / Re: What are the best websites to follow the btc market in live? on: June 20, 2019, 01:51:53 PM
When Bitcoinwisdom stopped working I felt like a fish out of water and reverted to using Bitcointicker.

Then bitcoinwisdom.io took over and I immediately switched back.

My only complaint is that with the original Bitcoinwisdom you picked a BTC/fiat pair and could toggle between exchanges for comparison, with bitcoinwisdom.io you have to pick an exchange and then can only toggle between Bitcoin and a bunch if shitcoins.
2330  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 19, 2019, 03:45:24 PM
Good morning Bitcoinland.

Sideways 'r' us... currently $9080USD/$12132CAD (Bitcoinaverage)

The battle for $9k rages on. It was only a week ago we were still battling for $8k.

Maybe in a week or 2 we'll be battling for $10k. Keep it coming.

Go Bitcoin go.
2331  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 18, 2019, 04:03:03 PM
Good morning BTCland.

Still over $9k I see... currently $9080USD/$12155CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

The battle for $9k rages on but $8k seems to be in the bag.

C'mon Bitcoin, head on up.
2332  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 17, 2019, 04:44:12 PM
Good morning Bitcoinland.

Nice to see we're hanging in over $9k... currently $9210USD/$12340CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

That included a new AYH and a nice little correction/retrace.

Looking good. Go Bitcoin go.

They dont, thats why they are called "boomers". Its not related to generation anymore, but to technological backwardness.

A few of them deserve some credit, but most of 'em don't.

Reason being, every Boomer I've ever spoken to who retired wealthy/early divulged to me that they invested in things that they didn't fully understand at the time (Microsoft, Apple, Google, Amazon, etc.)

You do realize that Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Jeff Bezos are (or were) all boomers, don't you? Likewise Vint Cerf, Tim Berners-Lee and Gordon E. Moore.

Millennials wouldn't be bumbling along with 2 thumbs glued to their cellphones without the superior technological expertise of boomers.

I couldn't quite figure out what was going on there, whether it was quasi ironic or not. You'd think someone who'd been around that long would be unphased by the same thing panning out again. Then again who am I to guess anyone else's triggers?

I'm totally reading between the lines here, I have no actual knowledge, totally guessing;

My impression is that he over invested, FOMOing in with assets necessary for life support, then held through the peak.

I don't know if his losses were purely of unrealized gains or of the actual sort, but regardless it hit him pretty hard as he had to sell to make RL commitments.

About this time he also started experiencing health problems.  I am totally speculating here, but would not be at all surprised if these were exacerbated by his level of stress and worry over the above.

It is my earnest hope that he was able to reclaim at least part of his position near the lows, but if that were so one would think that we would have seen him by now...

I miss him a lot

He had other RL problems besides his celiac issues and was forced to move out of town.

I haven't heard from him in a long time. Hope he's OK.

Welcome back all.

It's nice to see this thread relevant again. It was always one of my favorites.
2335  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 16, 2019, 02:10:59 PM
A splendid good morning Bitcoinland and a happy Father's Day to all the dads here.

Seems I missed the Vegeta party last night although I did get to check the price a couple of times. Woke up today to see that we smashed through to almost  $9.4k before a nice healthy correction back down to $9k, hopefully our new support level. Can we finally declare the battle for $8k to be officially won?

Now we're on the rise again... currently $9240USD/$12410CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Let's keep the AYHs coming. $10k ain't that far away.

Go Bitcoin go.

2336  Economy / Speculation / Re: Anyone here long enough? on: June 15, 2019, 09:46:06 PM
When I first learned about Bitcoin in January 2013 it was worth about $15. By the time I'd thoroughly researched it and knew it wasn't a scam (about a month later), it was worth about $30. By the time I was actually able to obtain some, it was worth $68. When it became worth more than $200 in early April, I was ecstatic.

Then it suddenly crashed from $266 all the way down to $50 as I watched horrified. I didn't panic though. I'd studied Bitcoin history and knew about its recovery from previous crashes, from $0.10 down to $0.01 in 2010 and from $32 down yo $2 in 2011. I felt sure it would recover again and bought more while the price was still in double digits. I continued to buy, never selling, while I accumulated a Bitcoin stash.

Sure enough, later that year we had another "bubble" all the way up past $1k. Then it crashed, leading Gamehuobi to make his historic "hodling" post to the wall observer thread. Once again I didn't panic. I continued to buy when I could on the dips, accumulating and never selling. The day it bottomed out in mid-January 2015 was the last time I bought over 10 coins in a single day.

I didn't have to sell any coins until early 2018 when I sold less than a coin at about $21kCAD/BTC to buy a house and property in Mexico. Since then I've sold a few more coins to buy 2 more Mexican properties, upgrades to my house, and a set of dental implants and zirconia teeth.

I never sold Bitcoin because of the price. I have no desire to hold a bunch of dollars. I only part with my bitcoins to obtain specific goods and services.

I laugh when I read about people "taking profits" by selling bitcoins. Why would anyone want to keep their wealth in depreciating dollars instead of appreciating Bitcoin? By all means, diversify your assets by converting some to real estate, lifestyle improvements, art, business ventures (and I don't mean stock shares, mutual funds, etc.) or other worthwhile investments. Just don't waste your precious bitcoins by spending them to buy fiat currencies.

Bitcoin has been very good to me. Sure, I made some mistakes. The biggest was to leave coins on an online exchange. That cost me 50 coins when MtGox  imploded months after I'd been trying to withdraw them. Never again. It's paper wallets only for me. Never will I expose my coins to the internet except for the brief time they're on my device between sweeping a paper wallet and transferring them elsewhere.

You want my advice? Don't trade, hold. Trading is a sucker's game. Holding requires patience but is far more likely to make you rich.

mmmm. I'm thinking along the lines of a 1961 Jaguar XK-E. Just for running around in, I mean.  Grin

Made me think of Hey Little Cobra by the Rip Chords.

Just how old are you anyway?

Even though the massive hodlers of bitcoin who can buy a lambo is sitting pretty

Humblebragpost: Every once in a while, I see a Lambo while I'm out and about in Dallas. I don't absolutely LOVE them, don't hate them at all, but I'm more of an odd-duck, and consider them too gauché - preferring the refined subtleties of Porsche, or the gravitas and raw power of a MacLaren.

Ferraris are right out.

Yeah, that was the other thing I wanted to do post-halvening - Get a black MacLaren GT to take back and forth from the city to the ranch... in 2022ish... if everything aligns to plan...

Dare to dream.

I've got nothing against Lambos...

... as long as you have loyal employees to drive them.

2339  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 15, 2019, 01:56:53 PM
Good morning Bitcoinland.

Still creeping up I see... currently $8650USD/$11618CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

It would be nice to move on past the $8xxx range and enjoy some Vegeta on our way to 5 digits again.

Go Bitcoin go.

where's that jonoiv dude?

he was so sure...condescending even

He is waiting... in a dark corner... crying.

Killed himself hopefully. Bearwhales didn't pay him for trolling  Grin

Why's everybody picking on Jonoiv? He can't help it if he's just a silly little bear.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

I see we're moving up in the $8xxx range past $8.4k... currently $8455USD/$11306CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

I won't declare the battle for $8k to be won until we've spent 2 weeks above it but so far it's looking good.

Go Bitcoin go.
