Every once in awhile I like to look at old bitcoin purchases.....

In March 2014 I bought a Wii U for 1btc.

I'm looking at it now. See how stupid I was?

HODL

Recently sold a DSLR for £500, which was bought for ~£320,000.

Seemed like a good idea at the time.

Went to a Bitcoin "Crypto Love Festival" in the park on Sunday and wore my BTC baseball cap that I bought in the summer of 2013.

A few of the younger Bitcoin enthusiasts were fascinated to learn that it was now worth over $5kCAD. At the time I thought I was being cool paying with Bitcoin.

How times change.

Easy solution: stop using banks.
Looks like that will have to happen. If I can start buying plane tickets with bitcoin then at this point all I need them for is to pay my cell phone bill. And my family can handle that from another account.

Can't you pay your phone bill with cash? I pay all my bills with cash.

I pay everything with cash including loading up my credit card which I only use for online purchases and travel, such as plane tickets, hotel rooms, etc. If you never owe them money, you never pay interest.

I don't have a bank account but I didn't need one to get a credit card. I also didn't have a credit rating. They sent me a card for filling out a questionnaire at the ballpark to get a free t-shirt. They've upped my credit limit 3 times already without me requesting an increase. Hopefully I'll never need it.

Go Bitcoin go.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

The battle for $10k drags on... currently $10100USD/$13414CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

At least this isn't as bad as in 2015 when the August dip took us all the way down to January levels before starting the inevitable march up to a new ATH. Autumn is just around the corner.

My bank continues to crack down on me. Just got a call that I can't withdraw my money from kraken to my bank account anymore.

As annoying as this is, it's also good news. If they didn't think bitcoin mattered they wouldn't bother. I'll just have to do all my business in person, maybe use the occasional atm.

Easy solution: stop using banks.

You can have 10,000BTC now but you have to sign a contract to never have sex again. Oral sex is allowed though.

Sign it or not?

Sign. Contracts can be broken. Bitcoins are non-refundable.  Cool

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Still holding onto most of yesterday's gains I see... currently $10688USD/$14243CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Looks like the battle for $10k may be won (again!) and we're ready for the siege of $11k (again!)

Go Bitcoin go.

Those who have bitcoin have no need to think about bitcoin. So they have sex.

Exactly. Rich people don't think about money. They think about having a good time. Poor people think about money.

Long-term hodlers don't obsess about the price of Bitcoin. They may check it every day like the weather or the sports scores but they don't dwell on it.

Sex, on the other hand, is something a normal person spends at least a dozen hours a week doing. It's hard not to think about it while you're doing it. Then there are the happy hours of anticipation and afterglow.

IMO sex wins every time.

Jays in Seattle next week Jimbo.

Always a good time.

First they play 3 games here in Toronto starting tomorrow night. It's nice to play one of the few teams lower in the standings than the rebuilding Jays.

Of course any game in Seattle is like a home game for the Jays and this will be an opportunity for Jays' fans in western Canada to see the rookie-dominated team, especially the 3 amigos, Guerrero, Bichette and Biggio. Seems just about every game Bichette is setting a new record.

The painful part of the rebuilding process is being left behind and is being replaced by the excitement of seeing the new core gel into a cohesive unit. It helps that this core developed together in the minor leagues, winning championships at each level, and already has a pre-made camaraderie.

Now all the team needs is some pitching but there's even some hope in that. Several of the Jays' rookies are showing great promise and #1 pitching prospect Nate Pearson projects to be an ace. He's still a couple of years away though. By then the young core should be hitting their prime and hopefully a couple of free agents or trades will push the team over the top.

These are exciting times for the Jays, similar to where the Yankees were at a few short years ago.

Hope you get out to see them play at Safeco Field. I love the cheering contests between the 2 groups of fans.  Cool

Good morning Bitcoinland.

We're back to the battle for $10k I see... currently $10038USD/$13375CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

The doldrums of summer continue. Don't worry, autumn is just around the corner.
2269  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 08, 2019, 01:36:24 AM
gotta see if I can actually live a normal life without a bank.

I've been doing it for a few years now myself... almost. I don't have a bank account at present but I do have a credit card.

I didn't intend to get a credit card but one day at the ballpark my buddy came back with a t-shirt and said he got it for free. I asked him if he signed up for a credit card and he said he had a card already and got the shirt for answering a few questions with no obligation. I assumed they'd never give me one with no job history, bank account or credit but what the hell, a free t-shirt is a free t-shirt.

To my amazement a couple of weeks later a card arrived in my mailbox along with an activation code. I figured that would be the crunch and they'd want tax statements, etc., but when I entered the code they informed me that I was immediately good for 3 grand, including cash advances. I tested it out when I was short a few hundred one night to jump on an opportunity and it worked like a charm.

I now use it strictly for travel and always keep a credit balance. They voluntarily kept offering me limit increases and of course I kept accepting them. Now I'm good for 5 figures. I can easily bypass the pesky $10k cash limit at the airport and have $30k to play with simply by leaving with a $10k credit on my card. It also makes buying flights and hotel rooms much easier.

I pay zero interest and zero bank fees. By always keeping a credit balance, I pay minimal card fees.

Don't let banksters ruin your life. Break free.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Up half a grand in the last day... currently $10537USD/$13959CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Nice to see 5 digits. How long will it last?

Good morning Bitcoinland.

I see the battle for $10k continues... currently $10004USD/$13132CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

As I said before, this could take some time.

Don't worry though. By November these summer doldrums will be long forgotten.

Go Bitcoin go.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

I see the battle for $10k is far from won and we're back where we were over a week ago... currently $9463USD/$12470CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Get your cheap coins while you can.

F*** I hate every buck we go lower.... to many have had the opportunity to buy in on extremely cheap prices for an EXTREMEly high valuable asset, so I don't like previous NO-coiners to get their hand on to cheap coins Cheesy

I hope the ones that bought and HODLed the previous higher price ranges will get their reward (for HODLing and keep on learning and working in the BTC-community)... I would hate some friends of me that bought big %'s of their wealth into BTC, that they would have to witness some NO-coiners of the group to buy in lower as they did Roll Eyes

I personally welcome the opportunity for noobs to get in at super-low prices of only 4 digits. Even no-coiners can have a Bitcoin epiphany, see the light, repent their lost-sheep no-coiner ways, and buy in while the price is down. It's never too late.

Those who paid pennies for their coins could have resented the opportunity for latecomers to buy in at double- or triple-digit prices during the big dips in 2013, and 2014-5. As it is some of those who bought during that last deep dip in August 2015 are among the most avid holders today, as are those who paid 4 digits in late 2013..

When we hit 6 digits (and beyond?) in the next few years only fools won't be holders. Most of us will be living happily ever after on Easy Street, even today's noobs.

Good morn Bitcoinland.
One-oh-four-one-oh greenbacks,
(Bitcoinaverage).

Going sideways now.
At least we're in 5 digits.
Go go Bitcoin go.

Gambling is worse than sex drugs and rock and roll !!!

Everything is worse than S&D&R&R.

S&D&R&R are excellent, assuming the D stands for soft drugs like caffeine, cannabis and alcohol and not hard drugs like opiates, cocaine and benzodiazapines.

Wow this post of yours makes me think you are some kind of a different person from the last time you have talked to me.

I am not here to compare, i seek guidance from the smart people who are in Crypto longer than i am.

Well, i saw you guys call other Coins - Shitcoin so .. i was the opinion it is okay to call them like that lol

My bad ... i am a newbie but i think i learn pretty fast

Repaired my mistake in the post above

Don't let Jay get you down but he's right in saying this is a Bitcoin thread and there's a separate sub-forum for altcoin speculation.

Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time with anything other than Bitcoin. I hate the word "Crypto". Only Bitcoin is Bitcoin.

Congratulations on buying your first Bitcoin. Everybody has to start somewhere.

Don't think of it as a portfolio though. Think of it as a nest egg. Don't sell unless you absolutely must.

Keep building your nest egg whenever you can afford to add to it without needing the money for something else.

If possible buy more coin when the price dips but don't sell unless you have to or you can afford to sell enough for a significant purchase without seriously eating into your nest egg. This can take some time. For me it took almost 5 years. Now I'm living happily ever after.

Don't think you're starting too late. I worried I was too late because I missed out on coins worth pennies, dimes, and a few dollars each. I bought in at $68 and regretted missing the chance to buy tens of thousands of coins at a time. Instead I bought 10 and 20 at a time. I still ended up doing OK for myself.

Don't panic and sell if the price falls well below what you paid. It will rise again. Instead, buy more and hold on to them for dear life. Did I mention, Don't sell?

That's the best advice I can give you.

You hold you win.  simple
What do you win ?

You win a higher return if you're forced by circumstances to spend some of your Bitcoin to buy fiat currency to obtain goods or services.
