3241  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN basher, the Liar 'John McAfee' is finally Arrested on: October 14, 2020, 04:30:09 AM
I am not aware of the amount of money John McAfee earned promoting fake ICO and if they have solid evidence then even with the best lawyers he will spend time behind bars. I hope the case against John McAfee will be a precedence against all these scam promoters and hence i hope he will get a harsh sentence and more over he was hiding from the authorities on other legal issues as well.

During the 2017-18 time, there were hundreds of scam projects which popped up in the ICO sector. A lot of us know about the biggest scams, such as Onecoin and PlusToken, but there are numerous others which were forgotten soon. Bringing these criminals to justice will take a lot of time and effort, and the cooperation from law enforcement agencies around the world.
3242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Now Bounty Program totally worth less !! 90% Bounties are scam on: October 13, 2020, 05:35:37 AM
If the bounty hunter is not good at research, then he must learn and become a professional in choosing good bounty after reviewing all its information, or he does not waste his time working here, because the profit here is not related to the number of bounties you have joined, but to the quality of the bounties that you have chosen after research.

Agreed. On top of that, the type of the bounty campaign is also important. Within the same project, you may be having different types of bounties, such as signature bounty, content bounty, social media bounty and so on. Each one of them have its own advantages and disadvantages. For example, signature bounties can be more demanding, but you will be able to do only one bounty at a time. On the other hand, social media bounty rewards may be low. But it is possible to do 10-12 campaigns simultaneously.
3243  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN basher, the Liar 'John McAfee' is finally Arrested on: October 13, 2020, 05:23:10 AM
About two years ago I was one of the victims of John McAfee, by buying some of the ICOs he was promoting. The ICO price dumped
immediately as soon as it entered the exchanges, and there were several tokens that I couldn't sell until now. So with the loss that
I experienced, it is only natural that I am quite happy to hear about John McAfee's arrest. May he become aware of the tragedy he is
experiencing, not to lie to the public anymore. And turn into a better person, and make a positive contribution to the world of crypto.
Although I doubt John McAfee could have changed for the better, if we look at his character so far.

You are not alone. Some of my friends also lost their money in 2017, after trusting this criminal. In some cases, the dumping was initiated almost immediately when the trading started for the token. None of these projects are active now, and the investors are left with some useless tokens in their wallet. And I don't believe that any of the victims are even hoping that they will get reimbursed for their losses.

But recently I heard some encouraging news:

https://cointelegraph.com/news/sec-bring-john-mcafee-to-court-over-ico-promotion

Quote
On Monday, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filed suit against John McAfee for allegedly promoting initial coin offerings (ICOs) without disclosing that the ICO issuers were paying him, a violation of U.S. securities law. Per the complaint: "From at least November 2017 through February 2018, McAfee leveraged his fame to make more than $23.1 million in undisclosed compensation by recommending at least seven “initial coin offerings” or ICOs to his Twitter followers."
3244  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can I 'delete' useless tokens from my wallet? on: October 13, 2020, 05:12:23 AM
A few years back, I had an account with the Yobit exchange. They had this option to "dust" the balance. So if you don't like some of your coins or tokens, you can just "dust" these holdings, which will destroy them. It will not cost you anything. Unfortunately, the ERC-20 wallets doesn't have that option. And this is one of the aspects, where the ETH developers can work upon.
3245  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Manny Pacquiao vs. Conor McGregor on: October 13, 2020, 05:02:33 AM
Let me just add to this:

As much as we hated the Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao fight, we cannot deny the fact that both of them made hundreds of millions of dollars in that match alone. At the end of the day, it really boils down to the business discussed between the fighters. All of their gimmicks and rivalries are part of their campaign in order to hype the fight and gather as much audience as possible to increase their winnings.

Still, a fight between McGregor and Pacquiao may sound ridiculous at first but let us all be honest that we will still be looking forward to see them fighting on the ring. I hope this fight materializes in the near future and see the people's champ back at the ring again!

No matter how ridiculous it sounds, I am sure that the PPV buys will set a new record for this fight. Many months to go, but the hype has already started building up. The "money fight" (Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Conor McGregor) reported a total of 4.3 million PPV buys from the United States (at $89.95 per view) and 874,000 PPV buys from the United Kingdom (£19.95 each). We can expect similar figures for Manny vs McGregor.
3246  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Amy Coney Barrett [Supreme Court nominee] on: October 13, 2020, 04:48:54 AM
The margin in senate is very thin right now. Democrats already have 49 on their side (including the two RINOs - Murkowski and Collins, as well as the "conservative" Democrat Joe Manchin). Since Biden is leading the polls right now, I won't be surprised if one or two more RINOs defect to the Democrat side, hoping to get some carrots after the November elections.

There is something I have noticed. Senators from "red" states, such as Manchin, Murkowski, Doug Jones and Jon Tester are voting against the conservative nominee, despite claiming that they are "conservative" politicians. On the other hand, senators from all the "blue" states are united in their opposition against ACB. This just shows how easy it is to fool the conservative voters. Can you imagine that they could fool the conservative voters and elect a liberal senator from West Virginia, where Trump won 69% of the vote in 2016?
3247  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: October 13, 2020, 04:34:53 AM
Yesterday, we've watched a masterclass innings from AB de Villiers. He plays a very important role to drive RCB are on the third position on the points table while KKR loss their position, this is how dependent on a few players pays off. RCB looks very confident in this season with more balance, wish they continue this performance.

I was just pointing out their inconsistent performance. When they win, they do that in a very convincing manner. And when they lose, they do that by a big margin. AB de Villiers has been a big asset for the RCB. And IMO, he has performed better than even Virat Kohli in the IPL. Kohli may be the best batsmen in international cricket right now, but his performance in the IPL is not up to the mark.
3248  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Now Bounty Program totally worth less !! 90% Bounties are scam on: October 13, 2020, 03:59:16 AM
I don't think the reason for the bounty campaign to damage prices and make investors not want to invest in projects that hold bounties, there are also many projects that hold bounties but they are successful and investors make a lot of money too, for example neblio, they make large funds, when making sales, even bounties hunters also get a lot of results,

Bounty campaigns remain the most effective and affordable method to get some exposure for the new projects. The vast majority of the investors will be registered Bitcointalk users, or those who visit here as guest (for getting the latest news). So there is a good chance that bounty signatures may get noticed by at least a few of them. I am not that confident about the other types of bounties, such as social media and content.
3249  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: US 2020 Elections data, polls and bets on: October 13, 2020, 03:48:22 AM
Look to the online sites and what their odds are for the candidates.  I can't help but wonder if those surveyed publicly are being guarded in who they say they are going to vote for but in private have different ideas as to who they want in office.

Online polls assume that the voter turnout will be same as the case with 2016. And this can increase the error margin. It may not impact the outcome in deep-blue or deep-red states. But in some of the swing states such as Florida and Pennsylvania, the margin can be less than 1% and here the difference in voter turnout can swing the results either way.
3250  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple the next bitcoin? on: October 13, 2020, 03:35:48 AM
Ripple is a good blockchain but it will never be the next Bitcoin. Lots of Bitcoin investors became rich already while Ripple still below 1$. Investors of Ripple need to wait for a little bit longer before it will be like the success of Bitcoin investors, but still, Ripple will never be the next Bitcoin.

Ripple promoters are multi-billionaires, so your statement is not entirely true. Unlike the case with Bitcoin, almost all of the Ripple circulating supply was pre-mined. The promoters profited out from this, when they sold their coins. And despite selling a lot of their holdings, a handful of promoters still hold almost 80% of all the XRP (either directly, or indirectly).
3251  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: October 13, 2020, 03:25:47 AM
First AD de Villiers and now Sundar give really big win to RCB and now its going to be very interesting as these guys doing really stunning work for rest of IPL after today's performance they are going to be in top three which is best for them and now rest of few teams need to perform like this for place in Play Off's.

I still not believe that RCB will be able to qualify for the play-offs. They are over dependent on a few players. And when that happens, the team performance gets affected in the long term. We saw this in the case of KXIP, when they were over-dependent on KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal. Fortunately for the RCB, some of their younger players such as Sundar are performing.
3252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple the next bitcoin? on: October 12, 2020, 06:08:58 AM
That's a huge money if we are talking about market cap and dethroning bitcoin. Way back, indeed Ripple replace ETH from the number 2 spot.

Ripple's market cap is not calculated in an accurate manner, and that is how it managed to dethrone Ethereum (although for a short while). If properly calculated, the XRP market cap would be a small fraction of what is given in the Coinmarketcap table. Anyway.. now XRP is not even at the 3rd spot. Tether (USDT) has managed to push XRP further down, and now Ripple is at no.4 position as far as market cap is concerned.
3253  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Finally!! McAfee is arrested in Spain and now facing extradition on: October 12, 2020, 05:33:44 AM
With this, we should have learned that a public figure doesn't guarantee the quality of the project.
Therefore, we still can't be certain about the project only by the people who promote it, McAfee is not exceptional.
Better to invest in some certain project with no public figure but with strong team and project.

During 2017 we were having the ICO boom. A lot of famous people were promoting various projects. What makes McAfee different is the fact that he promoted so many projects, and he did that even after evidence was presented to him, to show that these projects were scams. And when the promoters vanished with everyone's hard earned money, McAfee refused to take any responsibility at all. He instead blamed the investors.
3254  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Cash what are your thoughts? on: October 12, 2020, 05:16:06 AM
first time from bitcoin hard fork, don't really expect more for bitcoincash. I think the market is not that good, overrated and tend to turn their backs on bitcoin, as most of the memeber here says. still worthy of enlivening the cryptocurrency market, the community is also everywhere.

The exchange rate of BCH has fallen, but it is very much alive and thriving. Despite the entry of so many new cryptocurrencies, BCH continues to be in the top-5 list in Coinmarketcap. And we also need to remember that the BSV hard fork did a lot of damage to the BCH market cap. The community is also very lively and they have a few industrial heavyweights supporting them.
3255  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: October 12, 2020, 05:02:20 AM
I have no hopes for this team as they are in a stage wherein if they do changes in their team they will still struggle. Losing in a row and so closely might have already destroyed their morale. They have problems not only in batting but also in bowling

Look at the KXIP squad. They have some of the best T20 players available: Chris Gayle, Mohammed Shami, KL Rahul, James Neesham, Glenn Maxwell, Nicholas Pooran, Chris Jordan, Sheldon Cottrell.etc. Despite all this, they have lost 5 matches in a row. If despite all these players they are losing so many matches, then I think the blame should be on the captain and the coach (Anil Kumble).
3256  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hacker started to eliminate tokens stolen from KuCoin on: October 12, 2020, 04:38:49 AM
The last statement form Kucoin was released on 10th October and they were claiming that internal audit was underway. So hopefully after this audit, we will come to know how much of the stolen funds have been recovered. Anyway, I am glad that projects such as Tether and Ocean Protocol are helping in the recovery of stolen assets, by freezing suspicious assets. Having seen so many exchange hacks over the last 8 years, I have to say that the Kucoin users are relatively lucky...
3257  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 18% XRP Price Drop ! ~ Moon or Bust? on: October 12, 2020, 04:20:07 AM
XRP has always been a bank sham... I am amazed people still purchase it.
There are many, many better options out there, feeless options even.

True. It surprises me when I see XRP on the 4th spot in Coinmarketcap and ADA at the 9th spot. Cardano is a technologically advanced coin, and I would regard it as miles ahead of the XRP shitcoin. But the Cardano team's PR work was terrible and they didn't resolved some of the major issues in 2018 such as creation of lite-wallets. Anyway.. it just proves that a good project with skilled developers may face rejection at the market, if they don't have a good PR team.
3258  Other / Politics & Society / Re: USA PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS 2020: Michael Moore says Trump on course to win ! on: October 12, 2020, 04:05:48 AM
Obama was liked in Europe, W Bush wasn't. US Republicans in general are not liked in Europe, however Trump is at another level, it's hatred not just dislike.

The idea that Europe influences US politics is preposterous. Yes some Democratic politicians are today advocating for European style things like universal healthcare and free/cheap higher education, simply because these things work very well in Europe, nobody is complaining about them. In fact even in the US plenty of people complaining about Obamacare and wanting it destroyed are on Obamacare...

When I say Obama was liked in Europe, I mean as a US president. He did nothing for Europe, he didn't really care. But he wasn't antagonistic like Trump is, going against everybody.

Obama was good for non-Americans, but he was a disaster for the American economy. His socialist policies wrecked the stock market and he increased the long-term capital gains tax from 15% to 23.8% (one of the highest rates across the globe). The federal debt ballooned by a massive $9 trillion during his 8 year term (remember that GW Bush with his Iraq war could add only $4 trillion during his 8-years). And also, his foreign policy was amateurish, with ISIS and other terrorist organizations being able to spread their power.
3259  Economy / Economics / Re: Venezuela Planning New 100,000-Bolivar Bills Worth Just $0.23 on: October 12, 2020, 03:55:10 AM
As you say this is such a shame, Venezuela before all of this was a beautiful country full of hard working people and beautiful destinations ready to receive tourists all over the world, and now after all of this it has turned in such a difficult to place to just keep on living that many people have either left the country or are thinking of doing it as we speak, and the worst part is that when all of this is over and finally those people are left without power it is going to take at least a generation to fix this mess and that is if the people of Venezuela elect people that are willing to solve this which is doubtful.

If Venezuela was full of hard working people, this could have never happened. This issue is not just limited to Venezuela. It is common to almost all the Latin American nations. There is a large section of the public in these countries, that prefer socialist policies. These countries are rich in natural resources, and it allows the government to indulge in populist policies. But when the spending goes above the tolerance threshold, the economic meltdown occurs (similar to what happened in Venezuela).
3260  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Where can I sell ERC20 coins? on: October 12, 2020, 03:37:07 AM
Selling the tokens using a mainstream cryptocurrency exchange can be time taking, as you have to go through all the KYC requirements. Also, the deposit and withdrawal fees can be quite high. The second option is to go through the DEX sites, which require no KYC verification. But in these sites, the liquidity problem can be there, as the number of traders is not that high.
