3261  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Historical Corrections - Don't worry on: July 19, 2021, 03:41:31 PM
The only thing I know is that many in our crypto community trusts Bitcoin so much they don't really talk about the dip but rather they always talk about what possibilities Bitcoin may bring in the future. These historical corrections will not really cause any panic among hard line Bitcoin supporters but rather to them it is a proof that Bitcoin can reach greater heights and all they need to do is to continue in investing in the said cryptocurrency.

3263  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The best pronoun to describe Satoshi Nakamoto? on: July 19, 2021, 03:32:57 AM
Nobody can reveal the true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto so far.

To be correct, just call Satoshi Nakamoto or a brief version, Satoshi or satoshi. A bit difference from username on the forum and in the Whitepaper.

Let Satoshi is Satoshi.
3264  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Dust coin on: July 18, 2021, 02:55:50 PM
Lots of people will have been noticing small amount on coin remaing in there wallet after selling a coin in which most people don't really know what it is called. Small amount of coin always left in your wallet is called DUST COIN. These are small amount of coins which are always remaining in your wallet which are lower than the amount of coin in which you can sell.
I guess you are talking about leftovers on exchanges. If exchanges allow, like Binance, you can convert your leftovers to BNB, a few times per day.

If you have leftovers in your non-custodial wallets, you can consolidate it. Consolidations should be done when transaction fee is cheap.

Dust attacks with dust coins are different, you can discover in that tutorial. @fillippone explains very carefully about it.
3265  Economy / Speculation / Re: Everyone is fearfull. Someone said this is time to be greedy on: July 18, 2021, 02:30:55 PM
So a month of under 20s on that index, and a month of tight range trading between 30-35k. Sounds about right for me. Actually really surprised we're still keeping noses above 30k on the weekend, given all that Grayscale fearmongering. All that plus Musk seems to be ALREADY priced in though, so maybe we're actually already seeing the worst of it?

Feels nice to be able to stack sats for so long.
FUD about Grayscale is proven as FUD, not fact.  Cool

The Stock-to-Flow (S2F) model is still validated. There are outliers, always, at which the market tests us and weak hands will shake their hands, capitulate around outliers.

After outlier tests, in order to make us surprised, liquidate gamblers, clean the market, the market will move on a track it should be.

What is the best time to buy bitcoin?
"Buy the rumors, sell the news"

Bitcoin is below $34K, triggered by Elon Musk's energy FUD and China's mining crack down.

There is also a more fundamental reason that we see weakness in June, and possibly July. My worst case scenario for 2021 (price/on-chain based): Aug>47K, Sep>43K, Oct>63K, Nov>98K, Dec>135K

What are your thoughts on Bitcoin minig?
Don't think of mining if you only have small capital. To mine and get profit, you must be both miners and hodlers. If you feel that you can not hold your Bitcoin a few months, sometimes, you will in pressure of selling your awarded bitcoin for power bill.
3267  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk doesn't get enough recognition for its contribution to crypto on: July 18, 2021, 03:22:49 AM
It should be probably done by Theymos, that's if it should be done at all and it should be in a way that, some of the credit from its auction in percentage is always redirected to the forums treasury. It could be a thing, just as the cypher or crypto punks that meant virtually nothing transformed to mean something significant in NFT.
theymos won't do that. He will not break his reputation to join NFT on behalf of satoshi or the forum.

Furthermore, the forum does not need money from donation so I can't imagine why he do this with NFT.
3268  Other / Meta / Re: Do You Believe a New Forum Software Will Attract More Users to Bitcointalk? on: July 17, 2021, 04:39:01 PM
People will be attracted to Bitcoin, crypto market and the Bitcointalk.org forum mostly in bull market. It repeatedly happens in the past bull cycles.

A new forum software can attract new members but it would not be significant effect. The market cycle is more important.

3269  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk doesn't get enough recognition for its contribution to crypto on: July 17, 2021, 04:16:53 PM
I believe that could be an Nft in the future as well as his other posts here. Yes I said it! I won't be surprised to find a compilation of Satoshi's threads being sold as nft.
People might try to take advantage of the NFT trend and do it. What for? Their own benefits. If they do this, it is not because of benefits of the forum, satoshi or Bitcoin, just for themselves.

Imagine such NFT like how scammers run Ponzi, scam projects and try to connect Bitcoin to their scam campaigns.

This transaction is more famous than the forum itself.
I guess it is what you believe but you probably did not have any data to make this conclusion.

3273  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EMC] Eloncoin - Mars, here we come!! 🚀 - POS Energy Efficient. on: July 17, 2021, 10:55:31 AM
Thanks, and yes, I do know Discord's the best place but I can't install Discord on my computer as I access it all from work, but forums is my main chance to keep in touch with everything.
You don't have to install Discord application on your computer in order to use it.

You can use it directly on web browser. Create your account, then log in and use it on web browser. If you don't use Discord regularly, it is unnecessary to install Discord application.
3274  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EMC] Eloncoin - Mars, here we come!! 🚀 - POS Energy Efficient. on: July 16, 2021, 04:28:43 PM
tranthidung is in charge for processing the airdrop. Airdrops are processed in batches. So, once it gets started, you will get the reward.
Yes, I am responsible for it on Discord.

Any way to get more coins let us know here!
There are two types of airdrops. Please join Elon Coin Discord channel for more details.

Reminder
  • All questions about airdrop should be asked in the main Discord channel, not here

3276  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Paraguay become the second country to legal for bitcoin after El Salvado? on: July 16, 2021, 03:49:42 PM
The government's recognition of Bitcoin is good, it is the media that hasn't really publicized this kind of news which I think contributes to the slow adoption of BTC.
Even the Paypal and Visa adoption of Bitcoin which I really think is a big step had not even reached the monitors of regular people.
Governments did not care when Bitcoin has a price of few cents. It is kinda of digital asset that can be exchange between people, two trade partners. Who care that Bitcoin is a currency or not? Governments let it be like that.

When price becomes expensive, more scam attempts from bad guys, governments have to take more serious actions. Agree with their regulations or not, it is how society works.

With Bitcoin, we have our own bank, and have full control on our transactions but if you want to trade BTC to fiat, take profits, now and in the future, you will have to accept regulations from governments.

I see it is a good thing, now and in future.
3277  Other / Meta / Re: When is the right time to lock a topic? on: July 16, 2021, 03:09:11 PM
I thought about this because one can ask a question and the first five comments provide the answer to the question.
If it is a topic you created, lock it whenever you see that you satisfied with answers you get from the community. No matter it is the 1st, 10th or 100th reply in your topic.

Quote
Even when the op problem is solved, other posters continue to comment on the thread sometimes leading to unnecessary discussion. Leaving a thread open makes for good conversations, although the discussion may change if the thread becomes bulky and long.
Many topic authors do neither mind to visit their topics after receive good answers nor lock their topics. It will become place for spammers to get post quota.

Sometimes, moderator or admin lock your topic. You can not unlock your topic if it is locked by moderator/ admin.
3278  Other / Meta / Re: What happens to the forum if Theymos was to disappear? on: July 15, 2021, 04:20:28 PM
When we talk about forum management, why does everyone think that the only manager of this forum is theymos?AFAIK, Cyrus has the same powers as theymos.
There are two administrators for this forum and therefore if the first disappears, the other can manage the forum and appoint other administrators.
They are two head admins of the forum in recent years as I know.

However, theymos is the only person who is responsible for coding to manage, upgrade for this SMF forum. Important to note this, because it is one of barriers that hinders the migration of the forum from SMF to Epochtalk softwares. The new forum need more testing as theymos said.

It's surprising how well-documented history can become totally forgotten... Satoshi created the forum on Nov 22, 2009, and was head administrator until almost 2011. Then Sirius was head administrator until 2012, which is when I took over.

Cobra also owns the bitcointalk.org domain name. I consider the forum to be basically owned by or at least dedicated to the Bitcoin community, though; I don't call anyone an owner of the forum.

- I am the only bitcointalk.org sysadmin and on-demand programmer, and I'm used to the current software. Furthermore, I need to frequently make changes to the current software, but each change I make might require alterations to Epochtalk, which is problematic.

Your stake split threshold is 500 EMC, as the screenshot shows.

You can double check it with Console
Code:
getstakesplitthreshold

Adjust your stake split threshold
Code:
setstakesplitthreshold TypetheNumberOfCoinsForEachChunk
Doing this will help you to split your stakeable coins into different chunks. It has Pros and Cons, you must experience it by yourself.
3280  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin - Deflation, economy - inflation. Connect dots and end the FUD on: July 14, 2021, 12:03:12 AM
Is it a reason satoshi created Bitcoin in 2009?
No, because Satoshi started working on Bitcoin long before the 2008 crisis, so unless Satoshi is a time traveler or can see the future, he couldn't know about the coming crisis. Satoshi created Bitcoin, because having a decentralized currency was a goal of cypherpunks since the 90s, and there were many attempts at that, and Satoshi used their experience and ideas to create Bitcoin.
Although I know there are preparation before the launch and the history behind Bitcoin, any launch or debut need to be done at right time. The 2008 crisis brought good conditions for satoshi to launched the Bitcoin's Genesis block.

Quote
There are always people who say that the crisis is coming soon, but if everyone listened to them and lived in fear all the time, there would be no investing and business activity. That would indeed be a crisis.
You're partially right. It is proven by the pandemic announcement by WHO's press conference and the terrible crash of all markets globally, exclusively Bitcoin market, in March 2020.

It is how people react shortly after news is published. Long run, they will be calm and think deeper, it is reflected on Bitcoin growth since March 2020 to early months 2021.
