It looks more like the beartrap is closing.

I might have to (shudder) use my credit card if I needed to buy something. Using credit cards always makes me feel like such a sucker. Cash rules.
I'll give you an example of when it's a good idea to use credit cards.
It was early 2015.  I was unemployed and down to about $20k in assets and about the same amount in debt of various kinds.
Insolvent or getting there quickly.
I had a gut feeling that, rather than tap my assets for living expenses, I should preserve my capital.  So I started living off my credit cards.
My second gut feeling was that we were at a market bottom.
So put my $20k in bitcoin, and lived off my credit cards.
As bitcoin went up through 2016, I started incrementally liquidating my long position until the credit cards were paid off.  I'm still hodling.

I'm not totally against using credit cards.

You can't sell tickets on Stubhub and it's hard to rent hotel rooms or automobiles without one.

If I find myself short on cash for a day or two, I'll take a cash advance of a couple of grand to tide myself over and pay it off ASAP.

I just hate making retail purchases with credit cards and I really hate paying interest compounded daily.

Anyone else noticed the plethora of noob accounts with 5-lower-case-random-alphabetic-character user names spouting FUD?

They seem to love starting threads calling Bitcoin a Ponzi scheme or otherwise putting it down and calling for a final collapse to nothing.

It reminds me of the 6-character-random-alphanumeric noob troll accounts last year. So obvious, so hilarious.

Perhaps it's time to re-institute newbie jail.
3285  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 15, 2017, 02:55:28 PM
Maybe I should create a new meme... "hurrah, my bitcoins are worth what they were worth yesterday".

Well good morning Bitcoinland.

Looks like reality is finally starting to rain on the little teddy bears' picnic.

After one last shakeout of the weaklings prices are starting to return to normal... currently $3598USD/$4366CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

AltcoinCash still slipping at $409USD/$497CAD (Coinmarketcap).

Just the sheer volume should indicate that this was the bottom. I'm glad I spent my last spare cash a couple of hours ago, just before the price went up at my local ATM.

Hopefully that's the end of this dip. If I were to buy any more, I might have to (shudder) use my credit card if I needed to buy something. Using credit cards always makes me feel like such a sucker. Cash rules.

..And suddenly, this thread is full of bears

See them gaily gad about?

Or is that "glumly"?

Maybe it's just cluelessly:

Good morning Bitcoinland.

I see the dip continues on news of BTCC shutting down on Sept 30... currently $3602USD/$4395CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

All the altcoins also took a big hit with AltcoinCash down to $421USD/$513CAD (Coinmarketcap).

I'm running out of spare pocket cash to keep buying this dip much further. I guess I'll have to reallocate some funds. Meanwhile the stash grows bigger.
______

It's been a while since we've seen the bears reaching this frantic a fever pitch.

Aren't they cute?

A very late good morning Bitcoinland.

I missed this morning's bottom but I did catch last night's dip. Now it's back up a little... currently $3885USD/$4740CAD (Bitcoinaverage). AltcoinCash is also continuing to fall, albeit a bit slower... currently $505USD/$616CAD (Coinmarketcap).

I'll wait with my remaining bit of spare cash to see if it bounces back up after hitting everyone's favorite Fib, or if it continues down a little more.

The FUD storm has been impressive these last few days. We all know they love to jump on any correction or other dip to pull out their best FUD to try to fuel a panic.

First it was the PBoC protecting their citizens against IPO scams, as if that had anything to do with Bitcoin. Then it was a single unsubstantiated report from a "source" that China was shutting down all the exchanges. Yesterday it was Dimon calling it a fraud and triggering another round of anti-Bitcoin articles in all the mainstream media. Today it's all about N. Korea mining and keeping a secret stash to avoid sanctions.

What will it be tomorrow? Let me guess. Kiddie porn? Drugs? Money laundering?  Roll Eyes

I'm amazed that even some more experienced posters here have joined the flock of bears (baa baa). You'd think they'd see through the crap. How many times do we have to go through this before we learn.

Anyway, thanks to all the panickers for the cheap coins.
3291  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 12, 2017, 04:05:43 PM
Good AM Bitcoinland.

Still going sideways.... currently $4283USD/$5200CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Altcoin cash creeping slowly downward... $514USD/$624CAD (Coinmarketcap).

Ho freaking hum.
3292  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who wants to see the price go down? on: September 11, 2017, 05:26:41 PM
As someone who owns a moderate amount of Bitcoin, I'd love to see the price keep climbing but with just enough dips mixed in to be able to add to my holding.

Luckily, this is what has happened historically and hopefully will continue to happen.
3293  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 11, 2017, 03:42:14 PM
Good morning Bitcoinland.

Nothing new, still bouncing along more or less sideways... currently $4265USD/$5177CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

AltcoinCash also stalled at $536USD/$649CAD (Coinmarketcap).

Pretty boring but I suppose no news is good news. Ho hum.
3294  Economy / Speculation / Re: To all hodlers on: September 09, 2017, 05:12:13 PM
Dear hodlers traders, I have some junk products trading opportunities to sell you, all you have to do is bring in more people to buy your stuff trade and you have to buy my junk pay trading fees at a premium. Doesn't this sound like an amazing opportunity to buy a Lambo? I will be the first one to buy a Lambo though, you just have to hodl trade  Grin

Oops. Sorry folks. I should have known better.

3295  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 09, 2017, 03:42:19 PM
Good morning Bitcoinland.

I see we've leveled out after yesterday's fake news panic and dip and we're consolidating sideways again... currently $4314USD/$5246CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

AltcoinCash continues to slip... $551USD/$670CAD (Coinmarketcap).

When are people going to stop panicking over unsubstantiated rumors dressed up as "reports from sources"? Never, I guess. Weaklings will always panic.

There will also always be bad journalism. Sigh.
3296  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 08, 2017, 06:20:25 PM
so you think no bigger dive for this time ?? just bought few coins like 1 hour before the dip  Embarrassed

It seems to be consolidating for now but another PBoC or other announcement could send it into another panic at any time.

This is certainly not a time to sell but it's probably not a good time to buy either. I'm holding as always but I'm keeping an eye on the price with cash in hand.
3297  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 08, 2017, 04:49:20 PM
It is just time for a deeper correction, nothing more.

I beg to differ. It had already corrected. I think today's dip can be directly attributed to news of China announcing a clampdown on exchanges.

This is a similar situation to last January when the natural correction after breaking $1k was immediately followed by The PBoC announcing an investigation of the exchanges, causing a panic. After a short recovery, the PBoc started visiting the exchanges and then froze btc withdrawals causing another panic.

This time the natural correction after passing $5k was immediately followed by the PBoC outlawing ICOs, causing a panic. After a short recovery, the news of yet another Chinese action against the exchanges caused another panic.

We all know what happened to the price after January's panic subsided. Didn't we learn that China's importance in Bitcoin was over-rated?

This too will pass.
3298  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 08, 2017, 03:04:28 PM
Well good morning Bitcoinland.

I've actually been awake for almost 2 hours but didn't post until now. I looked in just in time to see the dip start happening and immediately went to the 1 minute charts at Bitcoinwisdom to see that it clearly started in China.

I still didn't the dip, partially because I wanted to wait and see how deep it would go and partially because the prices at my local ATM barely dipped. While the USD exchange prices fell by over $450USD, my ATM price fell by less than $300CAD and the buy fee is still over 7%.

That wasn't enough of a dip for me to buy.

Now the panic seems to be receding and the price has bounced back up to $4387USD/$5322CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Most of the altcoins are also down with AltcoinCash down to $592USD/$716CAD.

Of course this panic will be short-lived, just like last winter when the PBoC spooked the market before leading to one of the most productive years in Bitcoin's history.

Maybe it'll dip further but for now, I'll just play wait-and-see.
3299  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 07, 2017, 03:25:35 PM
Good morning Bitcoinland.

Slowly creeping back up I see... currently $4661USD/$5675CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

AltcoinCash also slightly up... $652USD/$795CAD (Coinmarketcap).

We had our correction after the last milestone ATH and then weathered a silly little FUD storm and panic after China quite sensibly moved to protect its people from ICO scams. Now we're on the rise again.

There's no reason to be anything other than bullish.
3300  Economy / Speculation / Re: are we out of the bear market? on: September 06, 2017, 09:59:24 PM
Bear market? LOL.

The price of bitcoin doubled in the last 2 months and quadrupled in the last 5 months and you think there's been a bear market?

We've been in a bull market for over 2 years now and it shows no signs of stopping. We had an ATH less than a week ago.

Are you trolling or do you just have an incredibly short attention span?
