1. After price trends, turn on liquidity bot
2. When price range narrows to a point, shut down bot
3,. Wait for trend, got to 1

I keep profits in btc.  I guess that makes me a bull, but I love the conflicting ideas.  The more you guys argue, the easier it is for me to squeeze out profits.

it's expired

www.mtgox.com uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate expired on 4/12/2013 7:40 PM. The current time is 4/12/2013 8:07 PM.

thanks

Edit: at least http://mtgox.com still works, it seems it uses a separate cert than everything else
3283  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / *.mtgox.com certificate expired on: April 12, 2013, 11:58:29 PM
My API usage was working fine an hour ago, but all the sudden I am getting this:
SSL_connect returned=1 errno=0 state=SSLv3 read server certificate B: certificate verify failed

This[1] suggests adding a .pem file from haxx.se to fix it, which I tried, but it didn't seem to work.  I'm not sure I trust this random cert, so I deleted it.

Any ideas?

It's expired.

The only thing we had to learn was that the whole sell-off was completely irrational and overdone. Bitcoin has the potential to turn markets on its head and is going to be worth billions upon billions of dollars in the nearby future. Since it had to start at zero, a huge price increase has always been inevitable. There never has been a single good reason for the market to go down, other than a stupid, irrational panic.

Exactly. And as I mentioned in another thread, these last couple months have brought even more 'true believers' into the fold than we've ever had before. A whole new generation who are not immensely bothered by this correction. Yes, more get rich quick and newbs flooded in also but when they run away (and they won't ALL run), the new true believers will remain, and continue to grow the community and the price.

There are absolutely reasons for the market to go down, and stay down - namely, the weak infrastructure built on top of bitcoin.  It simply is not ready for prime time, and will not be ready for a long time to come.  The system is overloaded, and the only way for it to go in this state is down.
[/quote]

It will also go up.  Long term could be anything.  Short term it will bounce all over the fucking place.
3285  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gox will go up and down... So what. I'm no longer afraid on: April 12, 2013, 09:11:36 PM
Agreed completely! It would cut down the lag and trade bots. Cool

Without API trading liquidity would be shit and businesses like bitinstant, coinbase, bitpay, and others like them would either not exist or have 2-3X the fees.
3286  Economy / Speculation / Re: Highest volume day on record on: April 12, 2013, 09:00:07 PM
You guys are getting played.

This is an epic bull trap in the making.

Bull trap, bear trap... I don't care.  Just keep disagreeing, my liquidity bot is eating it up.
3287  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bear appreciation thread.... on: April 12, 2013, 04:54:50 PM
When my next paycheck clears I'll make my normal buy.  DCA for the win.  If it doesn't stay up long I'm unlikely to buy much at those prices.
3288  Economy / Speculation / Re: How smart was MtGox move to take commission to 0% in this moment? on: April 12, 2013, 04:49:06 PM
I believe speculators should be kept calm and not given an incentive in this difficult moment for bitcoin.
Bitcoin was taken off guard as everyone of us was fully invested in bitcoin to squeeze the recent rally to the last drop and nobody had the liquidity to fight against the selling orders.
The effect of the 0% commission is that price fluctuations have been wild for the whole day and I believe it will continue to do so until monday, when fresh cash will arrive and the price will skyrocket again.
Let's hope by that time the price won't be down to single digits....
Use your brains folks and read the message between the lines

Lower fees reduces spreads. Volatility is not caused by eliminating fees.  Volatility is caused by a conflicted market.
3289  Economy / Speculation / Re: Yet another analyst :) on: April 12, 2013, 02:16:10 PM
The top post on reddit now is about suicide hotline. 1200 up votes so far. Dozens of threads about lost money, potential family break ups etc.
I think the sentiment have been reset as good and thoroughly as it needs to. The 32 price held on all exchanges reaching a bottom of around 40.
That was the hardest, fastest and most brutal ABC correction I have ever seen. I was expecting a more prolonged one like the one from 32, this was something else.
Considering how fast the correction was maybe we won't have to wait around too long for the next leg to start. Can only say wow for the last 48 hours.

That's how I feel.  Bitcoin's acting like it's got places to be.  Just get this correction shit over with.  We might have a few more shakeouts, but we only lose those who are in it to get rich quick.
3290  Economy / Speculation / Re: Mtgox lag api change on: April 12, 2013, 02:31:10 AM
https://data.mtgox.com/api/1/generic/order/lag

"{"result":"success","return":{"lag":426655186,"lag_secs":426.655186,"lag_text":"7 minutes","length":"3109"}}"

The "length"-part is new.
Anyone an idea on what it is? My guess would be number of trades in the waiting line.

That's my guess too.
3291  Economy / Speculation / Re: Mtgox trading engine lag: 434.32s At least not 4000 on: April 12, 2013, 02:16:10 AM

3292  Economy / Speculation / Re: is gox starting back up? on: April 12, 2013, 02:13:16 AM
Hint to MtGox: don't activate so many new accounts at once.
3293  Economy / Speculation / Re: Greedy, Fearful, Calm on: April 12, 2013, 01:37:59 AM
all of the above

That's why I went with a bot... I get to be greedy and fearful in rapid succession.

Until now we had too much iops and system was having trouble keeping up with the load progression. Switched to a RAID 10 SSD array

We gave them how many M$ yesterday and all it bought us is a 10 disc array?

He probably means a raid level of 10, or more accurately 1-0.  Such arrays can be anywhere from 4 to a metric crapload of drives, although 4 is the most common configuration.
3295  Economy / Speculation / Re: How will you react at 02:00 UTC? on: April 12, 2013, 12:47:31 AM
I will watch it for a few minutes, edit my config file and then type
ruby bot.rb
3296  Economy / Speculation / Re: Greedy, Fearful, Calm on: April 12, 2013, 12:36:32 AM
I'm calm now that I have a plan.  My deposit is on its way to MtGox for the first time in over a year and I'm dusting off the liquidity bot.  I may get washed out if the market picks a direction right away, but I have a feeling things will be volatile for a while.
3297  Economy / Speculation / Greedy, Fearful, Calm on: April 12, 2013, 12:09:01 AM
Investors should remember that excitement and expenses are their enemies. And if they insist on trying to time their participation in equities, they should try to be fearful when others are greedy and greedy when others are fearful.

five minutes to dwolla. 25 cents.

five minutes to campbx. 25 cents.

How do you get funds to Dwolla in 5 minutes... takes a week for me.

He's talking about MtGox->Dwolla, so it's really Dwolla->Dwolla.
3299  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Price when the dust settles... on: April 11, 2013, 11:23:24 PM
You guys are too bearish.

1.  Price is holding around 60-70 on the open $ exchanges during the outage.
2.  btcchina is at 700 yuans or a bit over $110
3.  Anyone who wants to sell can.
4.  Those with fiat on Gox can't buy.

But, please sell.  I'll be buying.
Those with BTC on gox can't sell either

Show me evidence that they can't withdrawal.  I haven't had any BTC in my MtGox account for over a year so I can't try it, but I believe I read that withdrawals were being processed normally.

They are. I was able to withdraw to dwolla and buy some from campbx.

How long did it take, and what were the fees like?

five minutes to dwolla. 25 cents.

five minutes to campbx. 25 cents.

Not bad.  Those kinds of moves used to be much slower.  I haven't used dwolla in over a year either.  Anyway, dwolla is only an option for US persons.  Sure, that's a decent chunk of the market, but there is still a bottleneck for a lot of users.

Gox sucks. This has been known for some while now, they've never effectively addressed any of the problems with lag. Just as last time there was a huge crash Mt Gox incompetence is right at the center of it. When Gox opens everyone should move all of their assets out and let this company fail, though of course this will not happen.

I agree, although they were supposed to release the new trade engine on the 17th.  Hopefully they have put it through enough testing and are just cutting over now.  If it still lags when they open they will fall flat on their faces.
