What's that? A "portable" AC unit?

Yes sir. Right... hahah "portable".... It weighs almost 500 pounds, good thing it has wheels.

It should spit out about 36,000 BTUs of cool air while dehumidifying at the same time.  Smiley

I almost wish I would have got his bigger brother... the 60,000 BTU unit. But, it was expensive.. I suppose this'll do for now.

3282  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: GPUs can't run at 20 intensity..?? on: April 19, 2013, 10:59:15 PM
I have 3 Sapphire 7950s, along with a Gigabyte ga-z77x-ud4h board running on a 1050 gold rated psu.

Everything is stock clocked, I am using CGminer. I can only seem to run at around 15 intensity... (300k/hash). When I increase it to 20, I slowly get "GPU sick" then eventually "GPU dead" on all 3. Running at around 65% fan speed, the cards are all kept under 75C, even at 20 intensity.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Intensity 20 is quite high.

Anything over 18 gives me a ton of HW errors and stales.

Try 18- that's what all my rigs run on. 15 is quite low IMO.

I want a One Terra hash rig made up of Avalon chips... that would be sexy! Grin
3284  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Just purchased a ModMiner QUAD... on: April 19, 2013, 10:51:17 PM
Yeah, I think we're all aware that we're not going to get rich with the MMQ -- that's not the point.  I just thought it would be fun to dabble in mining as a hobby.  Nothing wrong with that, and no reason for people to keep telling us how it's not worth it.

I'm just pointing out to "noobs" that it's silly to buy these if you're looking to make money, which is why most people mine in the first place. There are hardly any miners that truly do it "for the security of the network" or "to learn". You are maybe one in a hundred.

I do admit it is fun hooking up hardware, tweaking settings, cooling your rigs, etc.

I don't mean to offend you or anything... I am a nerd in that sense, but I also like to make money too.  Grin

I just don't want anyone buying them thinking they're gonna get rich.

Good luck, I will be following closely.

What? Who told about pre-orders? I remember jasinlee stating they will not accept pre-orders
What happened?

Pretty sure there still are no preorders. People are just stating they're interested..

You know the bitcoiners are scared when more and more of them every day are making their way over to ALT territory to beat their chests and proclaim Bitcoin as the top dog.

Every dog has his day.

I wonder how this is coming along. I've known that they were working on fpgas long before this thread started. It seems at this rate it might take forever for them to come to market with a product. They are being very hush hush with the development.

I feel sorry for the guy that drops 30k on GPUs, then they announce production the day after. A little update every now and then would be cool. O understand you are trying to be first to the market and don't want to give away any trade secrets, but please throw us a bone!

That website is still working? I could have sworn it wasn't anymore and that no more orders were being taken?

What did that pretty little thing run you?

about 1069 + ship

Aka... not worth it
3291  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Do GPU cards work fine for gaming after mining for 2 years? on: April 19, 2013, 12:06:32 AM
I'm more worried about some reports of artifacts/glitchy display output rather than low performance. But I don't know if this is common or fairly rare.

If it's rare then I'd just offer my GPUs for sale. But if it's common then I'd feel I need to verify they're ok before selling them. I never ran them very hard while mining. I could have pushed them 20% higher but with loss of efficiency (electricity cost) it wasn't worth it anyway.

It's a good idea to check your cards in-game before selling them, unless you specifically state you only tested it with mining.

I have had a lot of cards that hash fine, but artifact in gaming.
3292  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: All time highest litecoin mining difficulty? on: April 18, 2013, 09:33:49 PM
The litecoin hashrate dropped hard from 14 gH to almost 9. Is it because many miner changed to feathercoin?

Those are the guys that mine purely for profit.. they switched to a more profitable coin because Litecoin difficulty is too high right now.

Just curious about general opinion here. Who would think buying a new 7950/7970 or even a couple of them for mining in general, not limited to litecoin, would be a worthy endeavour? Too risky? Not worth it by now? Totally go for it?

I suggest investing in LTC the currency. I bet you double your money in a month. To make that kind of profit with a mining rig, it might take a long time.
3293  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: All time highest litecoin mining difficulty? on: April 18, 2013, 09:32:16 PM
Additionally, much of the new LTC network is from new miners, not old ones.  I've known people setting up operations in the hundreds of MH/s.

How do people cool that much Mh... they must live in the north poll.  Cheesy

By my calculations, that is about 43,988 watts of computers.

That would require a 141,203 BTU, 12 Ton A/C... that's just nuts considering most homes only have 2.5 Ton A/Cs....
3294  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] GPU Farm/Rigs and FPGAs (Bank Transfer/Cash Deposit Only) on: April 18, 2013, 08:26:14 PM
I retract my offer.

Most people contacting me are quite unrealistic in their prices...

"5970s are going for $400+ on Ebay", etc..

Well.. go sell it to a sucker on Ebay.

No way in hell I'm paying that much for an almost dead 5970, I'd rather just buy all new equipment.

Also, difficulty has sky rocketed and it doesn't even make since to buy hardware at this point in time.

Cheers,

Ch
3295  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: All time highest litecoin mining difficulty? on: April 18, 2013, 08:21:55 PM
I can't believe how fast the difficulty has been going up for LTC over the last month. Certainly a debbie-downer.  And don't see the rate going down, nor the price of LTC going up anytime soon. ( I hope TT is correct though..)

At this rate I'm gonna to have to start mining Devcoins in a couple of weeks Smiley !

I kind of agree with you. I see price only rising slightly or staying stable short term.

When/if Gox happens, we might go on a bit of a bull run. But, they haven't said anything about that for a while, I hope they are still planning on doing it. Also, that will just set us up for another bubble.
3296  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: All time highest litecoin mining difficulty? on: April 18, 2013, 08:08:18 PM
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm almost positive I saw a 13 GH network hash rate this morning, with a next difficulty estimate in the 400's. (It's in the chart at litecoinpool.org if you don't believe me)

Was that an error? Where'd 4 GH come from and disappear to?

They are the purely for profit miners.

Difficulty went up along with profitability going down, so they are now mining something else that is more profitable.

I wish they'd just stay away in the first place..

Difficulty might go down instead of up next time it changes.
3297  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: All time highest litecoin mining difficulty? on: April 18, 2013, 07:35:39 PM
Current difficulty: 364

Sigh.. it seems this last wave of Bitcoin mania brought a lot of new GPU miners to Litecoin.

It petty much killed profitability of it... hope you guys weren't planning on breaking even anytime soon.

It's good for the strength of the network, but sucks for miners looking to pay off or buy new equipment.

Price will be at $5-10 in a month if this keeps up, I would keep your chin up.  There's still about 30-40 GH/s of miners left to migrate to Litecoin from bitcoin.

If anything, now is a good time to buy.

I hope you're right. Smiley
3298  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is there any sense in making so many alternate coins? on: April 18, 2013, 07:06:51 PM
Its about time ALTs stop being copy cats and provide real innovation to the crypto coin ecosystem. I no longer support ALTs that are pretty much just copy cats. I suggest others do the same.

Yes Ive known Ripple was doomed from inception.

Of course it was made to make money, it was one of the first ALTs that was created by a company. What do companies try to do? Make profit!

I never even signed up for free XRPs because I thought the whole thing was stupid.
