3301  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best way to earn Bitcoins? on: December 22, 2015, 05:19:22 PM
Probably speculation on the bitcoin price itself. That's the best way to earn BTC at the moment.

only by holding and waiting for the value to skyrocket, because if you're talking about trading is not suitable for eveyrone, certainly not the best and easy method out there

Also slow build up is good aswell.  It does not have to sky rocket to be good.  I would settle for a long term slow build on value, but we tend to get jumps it seems.

I would agree holding is one of the easiest methods, it just does not add more investments.  Most want other investments to and hopefully at end of day have more coins.
3302  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How far does that green line go? on: December 22, 2015, 05:17:06 PM
A Sandisk 64Gb usb stick is £17 at PC world. I haven't looked to see if there are any cheaper. I think somebody said that the current file size is around 80Gb, so this may not be large enough. 17.00 GBP    =    0.0577263 XBT (xe.com current exchange)

MacD transfer speed is just under 30Kb/sec at the moment, and it's fairly consistent. It's 7am, and there isn't anyone else on WiFi atm. However that will change when the sales reps arrive during the next hour or so. I was getting almost 1300Kb/sec at the retail mall last night. I used the management company's free WiFi, and nobody uses that after about 7pm.

I hadn't thought of selling the file, but I guess it would be an easy way to start my wallet - when I am able to create it Smiley I think I'd prefer to sell it locally though, that way the buyer could check that it will load on his machine. I could load it onto a USB stick, Mini or standard SD card, or DVD assuming that Bitcoin core recognise all of those formats.

At the moment, I still need to download 1 year and 42 weeks worth of data, so it will probably not be available until after Christmas.

Well you are very dedicated to this I applaud your motivation to go there over and over.  Not many out there would do that, but shows what some will go to get it.

It's been a long time since i have done anything close.  I'm not sure how many of you remember zip disks... they were before usb sticks Smiley.  I would go to library and download demo's and biggest was america's army game... I spent 4 times there for hours before I finally got it with out corrupt or stop during.

Your story makes me look back at sitting there so long and waiting.   Have done a fast food a few times, but I'm kinda spoiled anymore on internet.

If it does not work out I really suggest looking in services and see if someone will sell for decent.
3303  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How many bitcoins do you have to sell to make a living? on: December 22, 2015, 05:10:13 PM
well in my opinion you would need a lot right now as the bitcoin isnt that high right now i believe it would require about ten thousand bitcoins for that though after a few years i think it wouldnt need a lot of coins it depends on how expensive it will be at that time

It's 430+ USD on value... that is a decent amount per coin.    I don't think ten thousand is a realistic number unless you are use to a very privileged life.  I think you need to do some math again.

I'm not sure but most could live under this I think.   Unless your talking retirement amount to live off and no other income.
3304  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Share Your Methode on: December 22, 2015, 05:07:58 PM
i doubt that it is possible to make 1 bitcoin per day unless you are mining the bitcoins yourself if not you would need huge investments to gambling websites to earn that much coins in just one day as it is 400 dollars what is decent amount of bitcoins

Depends on your skill set aswell.  Most it's going to be hard to do 1 a day.  Currently 1 a day is around 160k a year... so yea very few will have a skill to sell to this level.

Mine are mining, signature campaign, and mining is biggest for me.   So I guess it took me a big upfront investment to start.  At a point I was able to kinda just keep point it back into and re-invest.
3305  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Pics of Large Miner Hosting Center Under Construction on: December 22, 2015, 04:52:29 PM
This would be a matter of the public record, if there was a judgement against me.

Care to post a picture of you have of this supposed judgement against me?

Such judgement or picture does not exist because your post is slanderous nonsense.

If anything you say is true, please provide a single iota of proof.

*crickets*

ASICSPACE 1, TROLL 0

slanderous nonsense sue me LOL

so it's not true then that the miners crawled along at barely 50% capacity, remote access didn't work, support wasn't responding, and finally you switched them off with no communication whatsoever? perhaps you even have proof of returning our hardware to us or compensating for it? i wonder why you didn't show up then it would have been so easy to win the case

keep digging bro but don't forget the small claims limit was $5000 and the damages you caused are far in excess of that so there is more shit coming your way

but you know what, I changed my mind

I think anybody who wants to send their miners and their coins to a known scammer by all means should do it cause if the scammer has more assets it will make recovery easier for me and other victims of his previous "enterprise"

voluntary ponzi if you will so go ahead

Can you point to claim?  it should be public record if so, and be online if you truly know this. I would be interesting in seeing if true.

I think there was some issues with old place, but new sounds a lot more promising with price.  But would love to hear from anyone who had miner hosted during the move.
3306  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: How to set up mining on: December 22, 2015, 04:48:36 PM
Hi All
I have recently bought a U3 and trying to set up, i believe i have downloaded the required bits of software, the part i am not clear on are the details that i added to the notepad doc that i re save as .dat? where do i get the details from to go in this doc. do i need to register with a pool and the use name details etc go in there??
Any help appreciated.

I think your looking for batch file .bat extension.  It allows you to run commands with it just make for sure in folder with mining software.

Also you can open up command move to folder.  Then run command and see if it works that way.  With this normally errors stay up so you can see what is going wrong.
3307  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: I'm Set up follow the example, But i do not Successful ""Avalon6""" on: December 22, 2015, 04:45:08 PM
Your PSU looks like a cancer ridden 2 pack-a-day smoker on his death bed. Are you sure it's still working properly?

Phil had a good question on 240, 110/120 would be a big effect as far as it not working properly on PSU.  I agree not the best looking on it.  I don't like seeing lug's open like that.

But OP do you have a PSU tester? If so test the PCIe cables and make sure they are putting out proper amount.
3308  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: December 22, 2015, 04:41:54 PM
This S4 has been running fine for months and today it just stopped mining. I tried resetting it back to defaults and it still does not mine. Not sure what else to try here besides a new firmware?

Thanks in advance!

Edit:

I flashed the latest firmware and still have the same issues.

File System Version: Wed Apr 15 15:53:35 CST 2015

Somebody has a Antminier \s4 to buy??

This is not really best place for this.  It is really meant as support, if turn's into buy/sell it kills the helpfulness of the thread.

I suggest going to hardware sales area and asking.  You will have better luck there.
3309  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: December 22, 2015, 04:40:38 PM
My S7 arrived on Black Friday (USA delivery).  A few weeks later I got a bill from Fedex for a Customs Duty of 2.6%.  I was under the impression all of the taxes and duties I've seen mentioned in this forum were for people receiving these outside of the US.  Is this legit?  Go ahead and pay the $50?

Thanks!

That's probably a onetime brokerage fee charged by the carriers. I had to pay $37 to UPS once (S3 era),  ever since I stuck with UPS for shipment from Bitmain and didn't have to pay anymore fees.

Does it say it is customs duty?  Only time I have gotten a charge in US was when bitmain shipped a PSU at a different weight then actual.  They weighed it and sent me a bill for difference.

If not I would call them and also more why you owe it.   I have not had to do a custom's payment in US.  But maybe I'm lucky.
3310  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER U3 Discussion and Support Thread on: December 22, 2015, 04:38:03 PM
Ahah !!!

Well it looks like a power supply issue.

Try powering it from a standard power supply

those are the types of plugs i use to power up my u3's. plugged into an evga 550w psu.
Thank you to everyone who helped me I bought a power supply today and wired it has you suggested and it worked straight away

 Smiley

I know there is a rumor it helps stop zombies vs regular brick.  Can you say if you got more time in-between bricks?

I'm just curious if amount of zombies benefit's from this.
3311  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: New startup with 250k, what should I invest in? on: December 22, 2015, 04:34:12 PM
Wait just a minute, how on earth did you manage to get 250k of funding without knowing what exactly youre going to do....Who in the hell invests that much in someone that is "stumped"??

To be fair he doesn't say 250k "what" he had to invest, it may have been satoshis ...

Re-read first post:

Hello,
I have acquired over 250k to the project and am stumped on which miners to purchase and the space to put them in. I fully understand the heating issues, and space is not an issue, but any type of advice is quite appreciated.
      Cheers

He specifically say's 250k or more.  So we do know he said that he had massive amount to invest not satoshi's.  I think you did not read through first page.

Also he is gone... no logging in.  So it really is not worth this thread getting bumped.  Chances are he left and is not investing, and did not have the cash.
3312  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bad for Bitcoin scenario question on: December 22, 2015, 04:30:26 PM

A malicious government could totally make a 100mW data center, fill it with hardware and "attack" the network. I don't see how they could not. Now if a government is going to want to sign off on such a expensive, open attack.. i very much doubt.
Doing this would piss of a lot of people.

There's probably more covert ways to go about this.

Is it generally certain that all current hashrate is more or less accounted for, and not, in fact, a malicious government running some operations covertly right now?

How would a government building a big data center be some malicious operation, if its pointing its hashrate at a legit mining pool? You're wondering if they just plan on mining a ton of BTC and then dumping it to hurt the value?

Or they're just mining to cut their losses while they spool up some their 1 exabyte datacenter? Well they're better hurry up, because soon, that won't be enough.

It would be much profitable for them to just earn through mining instead of dumping to hurt bitcoin. They can't win this battle anyway so they might just wanna join with us. This a is much better option for them to which they should think about.

They definitively, easily can "win this battle". Its not hard to crash the price of Bitcoin if you have billions of dollars alloted to doing this. The feasibility is not the problem. Its the inclination and the international impact.

There is no point to do this if you're some lone country that goes against all other countries and attack Bitcoin. And if all the countries want to get rid of Bitcoin, then they can just consensus to outlaw it at that point. Something that does not do much when you're a lone country that decide to outlaw it. It would make more sense than spend a shit ton of money.

This is scare speculation.  There is nothing to support this other then saying it could happen.  I mean most goverments would have no interest in doing this, as what's in it for them?  Unless they have a crap fiat not much.

Largest we know of is US goverment with Silk Road.  And they did it as a auction on BTC, was fair and did not hurt BTC that I saw.   So if goverments do like one of the few examples we have it really is not that scary.  They want USD or fiat not BTC.
3313  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Should I join to miners ? on: December 22, 2015, 04:25:34 PM
The internet connection is more than enough for mining but the electricity cost will be high and i doubt you will earn anything in short term.

Only chance I see is buying and trying to resell.  I don't agree long term that much electricity price will not work. If lucky can mine for a bit and sell off after for a profit.

If bitmain lowers prices multiple times it could kill this idea.  And you might have a machine and have no ROI.  I think you will be a lot better off at a hosting center somewhere.  You stand a much better chance at ROI if good one with decent rates in your case.
Well using the mining rig for a while and sell them still is a good idea if you can find a buyer, but mining itself does require lots of time and at the end it does not worth even that little profit.

I have not kept a miner for a while and mined it to point it's not worth while.  I have been in a pattern run it at my normal rate, and watch it.  One day when I feel it's to small of profit vs sell price I sell it and invest that into more money.

For me personally I have made quite a bit more selling gear then going to no profit and sit in corner.
Well good move from your side and we need to learn from thee experiences from Legendaries.

I think it will catch on with most if not already.  Just so much extra money to sell vs running into ground and unplugging.  It is not full proof but better then most.

Only time I would have done better was I sold some S4's during 230 BTC value day's.  If I kept a month or so more would have been able to keep longer and sell for same.  But did not guess BTC was going to jump then.
3314  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is mining still a good idea? on: December 22, 2015, 04:22:55 PM
If you have free electricity and if the prices remain stable at where they are, I mean more than $450, then there's a chance you can get out with some nice profit in the next few months, but that too before halving, as nobody knows what will be the scenario after halving takes place...

There are chances that people might lose interest in Bitcoins, or might there happen something like a big pump that could take BTC to somewhere that will drag everyone's attention towards it again... Wink

Well with the price 450 USD and having a Antminer S7 + a energy rate of like 10 cent / kW the ROI period is less then 120 days. It's a little bit high yes but 'doable' even more if you expect the price to rise even more.

But looking towards the difficulty that skyrocket big time see:
https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty

It's very risky again. Therefore i wouldn't advice to buy mining gear right now.
Are you sure about those calculations?
Because if u are, then it will be profitable for me Smiley so then I am very interested.

he forget diff, but right now a s7 can earn you a nice profit, and consumption is around $45 per month with 0.05, with 0.1 is double that

earning is $360, but the next diff jump will put us on another +10% or so, still plenty of room for profit

But difficulty jump ain't just one thing, halving is another and the price is the most considerable topic to be focused when it comes to mining, as buying for least BTC at higher prices might look good, but even if you get that ROI in BTC in 6 months and the price is slashed 50% down, then I guess it's double your wait to just gain your ROI in full, I mean the one will need to wait a year instead of the mentioned 6 months...

well halving is not tomorrow, plenty of room for profit, 7 months, plus you can always resell, s7 can be sold again at the same price at whch you bought it, unless the price of bitcoin skyrocket too much and you payed in bitcoin

but this is another story, better to pay in fiat your asic
Is that true what u saying about reselling? I am not sure because after several years, won't it get vroken or something? Also second hand is much cheaper then brand new.

Prety smart actually if it is true what u are saying.

Miners we are not talking about years.... a miner's life is much shorter then this.  He was talking 7 months which is fair amount of time in mining world.

You mine till profit is not to high, and sell to "free" or very cheap electricity.  They get it and you get a little more money to add on to ROI, or for some might make them ROI.  But no miner is year's as far as realistic life.

Latest update.

1) Added 2 x 30AMP L6-30R outlets.  Unfortunately the only slot to add another breaker, the legs to attach the breaker is either not there or broken off so the Electrician can't add anymore breaker to it.  This means the 2 outlet is sharing the same 30AMP breaker from my Dryer line that was converted to Gas.
2) Just added 1 S7 to my existing Avalon 6 and 4 S3 for a total of 10TH.  The S3 are spread out all over the house to use as space heaters.  =)
3) Installed 2 Windeevents to help circulate air to keep garage cool.  They can open and close and have a net to keep insects n rodents out.
4) Dell PDU arrived as well as the IBM 2K PSU that I'm combining using the breakout boards and the Ultra Kaze fans.  Going to upgrade the breakout boards to the new Finksy / J4bberwock boards once they are available as those combine the PSU better and have voltage controls.  These PSU with these fans are much quieter than the other Server PSU I've own.

These boxes are keeping my house warm even last night with the 49F temperature, it keep the Garage and house temperature from dropping below 70 degrees.  Extra bonus for the Winter, but when Spring / Summer come, it will be new challenges.  Just change electric provider to be at 5.5cents a KW from my existing 9.4kw with free Saturday plan.

I tried to quote it for you but so slow on viewing, I suggest trying another image site to host them.  It's crawling where you have those.

Which image do you have on your Raspberry PI?   Let me know once you get to different site on images and I will take a look again, truly crawling on them.

Crazyguy,
received one of my AntR1's today and the plug has a short in it. Every time I plug it no power from unit unless I wiggle the router. Doesn't stay powered very long as any vibration will jiggle the plug back to not being fully plugged into outlet. Even tried extension cords and multiply outlets with same results.
what to do

I've never had to use the adapter, but if you ordered a modified unit from me, it means I had it plugged in and working for at least 10 minutes while I updated and tested the firmware. Please PM me with your order number and we'll figure out what's going on.

I have not had to use the adapter's either for US plug. I got my R1 from CrazyGuy and still working great controlling 3 U3's. I bought amazon on china to us adapter and have it sitting on a shelf.  I am happy I did not have to use looks nice sitting flush with power.

It appeared that it would need the adapter as from listing from Bitmain when they were selling.  But the the life of me after using I can figure out why they sold US plugs.
3320  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d - Also FAQ and Help on: December 22, 2015, 05:17:01 AM
Yeah, Kilo hit me up on his thread.  I'm still in awe what he was able to achieved, not just the hash rate but the fact that he was able to OC a the Avalon 6 on a 1200W PSU that is rated to max at 900W when used on  110V.  The 1200W is only for 220V connections.  He's going to send some info to me on how to change the Voltage on my Dell too.  That really changed my thought on either buying another EVGA G2 used on Ebay for $100 or a HP 1200W PSU with breakout boards.  I'm going to be maxing out my single 30AMP connection on the next order so I need to leverage the existing 110V connections until I have the budget to go 200AMP.  You guys are the PIONEER of Creativity.  I'm really amazed at what you guys are able to find out, do and achieved.  Very happy I found this thread and forum.

P.S On a side note, does anyone know how new members can post pictures yet?  I've try Imgur, photobucket, etc but all the same results.  It's definitely much easier and a picture speak a thousand words rather than links that people may overlook.

No new members can not post pictures.  I doubt they ever are able to again it was limited on purpose.  If you have something you want to share in thread I would be happy to quote it so it shows up in it.

That is best work around for new members to ask other higher rank to quote and it shows up assuming on site that works here, photobucket is one I use heavily.
