You now have meal powder / black powder. It is crappy gunpowder, but it will work.
Smokes like a bitch when it goes off, too. Nitrocellulose is a little more difficult (and dangerous!) to make, but it's a much better product.

Both, as I said, can be touched off with a small electrical spark.

At this point, I think it would be way easier and more effective (and likely lethal) to just make a potato gun out of PVC and carburator cleaner spray.
Kinda hard to conceal, though.

Isn't the point of a gun to deter crime, letting people know not to screw with you, with shooting them being the last resort? Lugging a 6' tall potato cannon strapped to your back is a pretty good "don't fuck with me"  Grin
3302  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MtGox account in the USA has been seized by the DHS? on: May 14, 2013, 09:34:31 PM
At 5:12 PM EST, I called Dwolla customer support. The young woman who answered the phone was very polite but said that there was a court order and she was not able to provide any further information.

I wonder if this is DHS wanting to file charges against MtGox, or wanting to collect info and file charges against specific bitcoiners?  Embarrassed

The words "U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland" are in there. I'm from Maryland. Just want to say I had nothing to do with this, and there are a couple of other bitcoiners living here, though none that could spark this that I could think of.'
God, I hope they're not after my Prius  Angry

Now that is kinky!

I dream weird shit, dude. About a couple months ago I even had a dream about Bruce Wagner, of which I prefer to not go into detail, but boy was Ed pissed (safely assuming, thought not in the dream).

Ever dream your beard came to life and tried to choke you?

Edit: I think you're exempt if you've been on Skype alone with Atlas but I'm not sure.

I have actually been on Skype alone with Atlas. What does this exempt me from?

The forum chain at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=205370.0 is longer than here, so it wins, and I'm locking this forum chain fork

Once the files get listed on TPB, it's pretty much going to stick around forever.  The only thing politicians can really do is stall the inevitable by giving 3D printer manufacturers such a hard time that they can't really sell to the common folk; not for a while anyway.

Someone I was talking to said, "But, what if they ban the actual files, like they did with CP?"
3310  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin on Blueseed, the international waters startup ship on: May 14, 2013, 06:57:10 PM
Oh, I have another one. Will the political status of the ship be honored as a foreign territory, like an embassy, or will anyone with enough power (USA) be able to shove their way around on it? For example, would Julian Assange be allowed to visit, or even move to the ship, and still have the same amount of security/assurance as he does while hiding out at the embassy in London, or will be be immediately arrested and extradited to USA?

Oh, and will BlueSeed be willing to run a dedicated Bitcoin node? It would set up a copy of the blockchain database in international waters, and would give local residents access to a trusted (maybe) bitcoin node that they can still rely on should internet connection be temporarily interrupted.

it printed a compression spring??

They used a wind-up type (looks like @ with many more loops)

Similarly, protect your smartphone with Bitcoin Wallet.

If my Android phone is not rooted, are the bitcoins on it reasonably secure?

Only after you create a backup of your wallet and move it off the phone.
3313  Other / Off-topic / Re: Kidney Stones! on: May 14, 2013, 03:36:39 PM
The most painfull part is getting it from your kidneys to your bladder. The tubes connecting those are really thin, so think watermelon pushed through a garden hose. A scratchy cement watermelon through a garden hose. The urethra that goes from bladder to the outside is much wider, so it's nowhere near as painful once it gets to your bladder. Last two times I had stones, I didn't even notice it passing out when I peed (only knew about it because I had to pee through a strainer, so I can catch the stone and take it for analysis).

You mention strainer, I was thinking golden showers and someone hits you in the eye with a rock. lol
Somehow, I doubt that would be high on the "to do list" if someone had kidney stones. Wink

People are kinky, ya never know.

You shouldn't be peeing into someone's eye, anyway.
3314  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Schumer: It’s time to go after the 3-D printable guns on: May 14, 2013, 03:13:49 PM
Obviously the 3D printer is unable to produce the complex parts of a handgun... Clearly it can't just print gunpowder for you, or a mechanical part such as a spring... it can only print the 'static' parts like the outer casing, handle, barrel etc.

This one printed everything but the bullet and the firing pin (they used a nail). So all the complex mechanical parts, including the spring.
3315  Other / Off-topic / Re: What do you do? on: May 14, 2013, 03:11:21 PM
Exactly! Again - Again - Again

I'm waiting for Nefario to come back with GLBSE 3 and Peter Lambert to quickly open an investment fund. LOL

Phsss. I'm waiting for Bitcoin to again jump up 20-fold, and then crash to half, thus increasing my worth ten-fold again.
3316  Other / Politics & Society / Re: IRS APOLOGIZES FOR TARGETING CONSERVATIVE GROUPS on: May 14, 2013, 03:00:04 PM
Got some more info on this today. It's apparently for their 501c (?) SuperPac status. Basically those groups we've all been hearing about that allow unlimited anonymous political donations, using a tax group organization that was set up as "service the social welfare." They get away with it by claiming that their "concern" ads that attack opposing politicians are just to "increase awareness of an issue that may adversely affect general welfare." It's basically bullshit that needs to stop, and need to stop on both sides. Yes, it's unfair that it was done more to the right-wing nuts than to left-wing nuts. And yeah, I'm kinda conflicted about it, since with Bitcoin you'd be able to do unlimited political donations and advertising, anyway.

Though I do have some schadenfreude about a fascist theocratic party getting shafted.

Back in Soviet Union, all typewriters were registered and tracked by the government, and it was illegal to own one. You had to borrow one from the state. This was done to prevent any illegal publications, such as copies of banned books or underground newspapers.
Just saying...
3320  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Good Representation of Typical Bitcoin Hater on: May 14, 2013, 02:39:22 PM
The asshole of the internet. SomethingAwful forums.

Could've sworn they were anti-eBaum's World back in the day, and thus my heroes; what happened to them?

They basically became anti-everything, with the entire purpose of the forums to just make fun of everything and everyone. It just gets more pathetic when they make fun of things they don't understand. For example, they have entire threads dedicated to Bitcoin, where all they do is claim it's a stupid internet currency, because it's a ponzi or a scam, because it's all digital, because it's traded on a kid's game card exchange, and because of other stupid things like it's deflationary/too volatile/you can't buy anything with it. Basically exactly the same kind of idiocy that this guy here is spewing. And trying to discuss any of those points with them is about as effective as trying to discuss economics with a bunch of giggling snotty elementary school kids from "special" class.
