3301  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: to OC or not to OC? on: May 06, 2011, 07:14:06 PM
Overclocking does increase power usage.  Anyone who is posting that the total power usage is the same for an overclock is not actually measuring the power use directly.

I have been able to undervolt and mild overclock and keep power usage the same or undervolt with stock clocks and lower power usage.

I do not recommend personally going over 15% for overclocking, though there are many who are doing so successfully.  I do not want the system to lock up and me not know about it for hours.  One crash can kill all of the benefit of overclocking.
3302  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bitcoin Bumper Stickers have arrived! .5 BTC at BTC over $3 on: May 06, 2011, 01:47:11 AM
Unfortunately shipping to South America or Europe is much more then the bumper sticker itself.  it would add .75 BTC but I could send 10 stickers to either country for 5.75btc

[prices raised due to higher then expected packaging and shipping costs]

Everyone who had paid before gets the old lower prices.

High quality vinyl with UV protection for outdoor use.  Not printed on my printer!

.5 BTC (50 bitcents) sent first class mail to most US locations.  10 for 5BTC

Please note due to shipping charges I had to raise my prices a bit.  I lost money on the first round but I hope they spread the word! Everyone who paid before has the lower price locked in!
3310  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Windows 7, Vista, XP, Server 2003 and 2008 serial keys @ 2BTC on: May 04, 2011, 09:39:36 PM
Hello demonofelru, thanks for your concern about if it's a scam or not, but these keys are not technet keys
These keys are all MSDN keys

So here is the problem....

Your customer buys a key and tries to use it 6 times.  Now ALL of your keys that you sold to all of these people all die.  You can not control the customer.
3311  Economy / Trading Discussion / bitcoin2cash.com as an option on: May 04, 2011, 07:24:20 PM
I placed some coins to sell there.  I also have coins on MTGOX.  There are underpriced coins at bitcoin2cash.com so someone with some spare cash could pick em up cheap.

3312  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paypal as honeypot... on: May 04, 2011, 01:52:58 AM

I think we should start a book on the date for when PayPal officially folds, Chap. 7 or 11. ... they have made so many backward looking moves for a supposed "tech. company" I just can't see them being around that long, at least in the money business. Maybe they are already technically insolvent and that is why they are so govt, risk averse? Doesn't speak of a strong corporation.

Do it.  But I would bet they would live a long time as much as I dislike them.  Even if Dwolla, facebook money and Bitcoin start to make inroads it will take years to unseat PreyPal.  As long as eBay and PrayPal are linked block out others in the auction space one near monopoly supports another.

3313  Economy / Trading Discussion / Bitcoins for Dwolla - is it safe? on: May 03, 2011, 06:03:51 PM
Has anyone done this?
3314  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bidding Pond Concern on: May 03, 2011, 02:40:42 AM
I am 2/3 on biddingpond.com

I had bought two items smoothly and had a great experience.  Then I bought from GIFTOMATIC and got screwed.  He took the BTC and ran.  No email responses to my inquiries about tracking/shipping.
3315  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: decentralized Bitcoin are highly centralized to mtgox!11 on: May 02, 2011, 10:14:08 PM
@free speech
Is it immoral to follow someone around in public places and yell louder than they can, drowning them out?

I'm really not sure how I feel about denials of service. I opposed the one on Wikileaks, supported the one on Visa/Mastercard, and oppose the one on MtGox. Depending on the target and motivation of the denying party, I can go either way...

If you don't like MtGox or Visa, do not use it.  Tell your friends.  Post web pages.  Do not break other peoples things.
3316  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: decentralized Bitcoin are highly centralized to mtgox!11 on: May 02, 2011, 09:51:49 PM

For me DDoS is a matter of free speach, just like a digital sit-in blockade.
Sure, as soon as it becomes a financial issue (which it is, because MtGox chrges fees) it gets really difficult to judge.
But in my opinion bitcoin exchanges should be free of any fees. We do not have to make the same mistakes that other currencies/systems/communites have done before.
(centralized market/market monopol + fees <-> government + taxes  Shocked)

Aw man, feels great in bizarro world  Grin

A DDOS is almost always committed with stolen computers and it is nothing like a digital sit in. It is more akin to stealing 100 cars and parking them in a businesses parking lot and right up against the doors so no one can get in or out.  The name alone says it all, DENIAL OF SERVICE.   That is very much an aggressive act, not a passive act.

DDoS is the opposite of free speech.  You are silencing someone else's speech, by brute force.

Agreed.  It is a use of force.
3317  Economy / Marketplace / Re: I buy vintage PC games for Bitcoins on: May 02, 2011, 08:28:58 PM
I have adventure games but they are c64 or amiga and I do not think you want those.
3318  Economy / Marketplace / Re: I buy vintage PC games for Bitcoins on: May 02, 2011, 01:11:53 PM
Ok. But at less then $20 at the time for a decades old shrink wrapped game?

What were you expecting to pay?
3319  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: A place where they trade using PayPal? on: May 01, 2011, 12:15:17 PM
But what about people that may file a dispute and get they're money back, cause paypal can do that.
How do i protect myself from people like that on there?
worse still, it seems that selling bitcoin alone is enough to get the account closed.
