Wow, that's really cool.

Is that a Casascius coin? Wait until he sees it.

If you read the text you'll see it says the coins were donated by Casascius himself.

Already saw it and edited my message.

Damn why are you so fast, nobody would have recognized it.
3323  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoins at the British Museum on: November 03, 2012, 10:38:13 PM
Wow, that's really cool.

As it was donated by Casascius I suppose he knows about this.

* taps lightly on the security glass *

Hello? Are there any tellers available?

I am considering depositing some funds here, but I need more information about the non-monetary perks of account ownership before I can make a commitment.

This is still a bank, not a guitar store, right?

This is the dank-show and a bank
3326  Other / Off-topic / Is Atlas really gone? on: November 02, 2012, 11:47:31 PM
Atlas has now manged to stay away from this forum for over a week.

It also seems, that there are no new Sockpuppet popping up.

This was his last post:

I will not questions things any further. I submit. I am gone.

Should I open a bet on betsofbitcoin? How long will he manage to stay away?

What do you think? I'm giving him at max another 10 days. Or maybe he is in a bitcointalk rehab centre?

3328  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why do people assign value to Bitcoins? on: November 02, 2012, 04:28:06 PM
I can't pay taxes with it. I can't fund my credit card with it. Why do people value Bitcoins at $11 a piece?

Hehe, first post and probably your last?

Is it just me or do recently a lot of accounts pop up, crating on single thread and are then never seen again.

But just in case this is a real question:

Bitcoins provide the usability of cash, although you can instantly pay them in every wallet world wide.

This usability provides value.

The fact, that they can't be printed instantly by anyone (infation resistant) increases the value even more.

And then they are only a few of them + most of them are horded and not available on the open marked, causing a high price.
3329  Other / Off-topic / Re: International Karmic Bitcoin Bank of Ponyville- Free Toasters! 10% weekly! on: November 02, 2012, 04:05:57 PM
It's just a joke dude you're taking this way too seriously.

Ahh, but is it? We'll never know.

You should probably read this, then you get what this joke is about:

Dank Soul Guarantee - Danksurance
The Dank Soul Gurantee is my karma based system of insurance.  I acknowledge and respect that karma would play a negative role on me if I were to steal anybodies deposit, thus, offering an incentive to not perform such an action.  Dank Bank, as with many other investment opportunities, is largely trust based.  I hereby give my word and my soul that I will perform as an honest trader, no exceptions.
3330  Other / Meta / Re: Advice Please on: November 02, 2012, 11:50:34 AM
Hey, I have most of my Karma invested with this bank. With the compounding interst I will soon have enough karma to never have to do a single good deed in my entire live.

I will basically retire on good deeds, all thanks to Treacheroso and the Karmic Bank.
3331  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Post-count pumpers (soon to be scammers?) watchlist on: November 01, 2012, 10:22:44 PM
I thought I'd make a thread to keep track of members dumping spam posts as I come across them - they post useless and obvious "me too" one liners all over the forum immediately after joining or after a period of inactivity, solely to pump up their post count, to increase the perception of reputation or participation on the forum. Scams likely to come. If you're not a scammer, this is your "you're not adding anything useful" warning.

1. HolyScott - recent posts

2. BitcoinOxygen - recent posts

Post yours; I'll add to the first post if they are good examples of this.

I new I've read something with this user when I saw this.

3332  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A fair and strong Bitcoin fork design exploration, "Faircoin" on: November 01, 2012, 09:48:33 PM
I think this is an excellent idea. But it only delays the early adopter issue. A coin that would allow an equal distribution for adopters in the first x years, or maybe until a first 100.000 users are established would IMO have grate chance for being successful. But the how to enable this, is a problem.

What hardware you have, for example.

3336  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The best way to Hoard coins on: November 01, 2012, 03:35:25 PM
If people provided products honestly in return for bitcoin then more people would be encouraged to spend, I have yet to see anything in the bitcoin economy that makes me go zomgwtf I must have it, so far as a relative outsider to bitcoin I have only seen makeshift marketplaces with barely anything in them, blatantly pirated software and games for sale and ponzi schemes. All of which aren't a very encouraging thing for me and wouldn't convince me to part with my money.

At this I can agree. What Bitcoin is still missing is kind of a killer app, that would make BTC really extreme useful.

SatoshiDic shows that there are ways to use that technology, that aren't possible with conventional money.

I personally think, that with BTC there are applications possible no one has thought of yet, because we are all to stuck in the confidential way of thinking.

I still hope that one morning I will wake up, just thinking, "That's it".
3337  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: http://www.pyramining.com/ - Discussion thread (no advertising here) on: November 01, 2012, 11:03:49 AM
In the case that after some days (let's say 10) from the ASIC installation deposits won't reach at least 10 times the FPGA hashing power, I will personally invest the difference making deposits to random sponsors in Pyramining, to speed up things.

Wow, that's a word. You could combine this with a way to make depositing in ASIC infrastructure more interesting. Make it like kind of a lottery, each 0.25 BTC you deposited into pre ASIC buys you a ticket and a chance to be your sponsor. That should speed ASIC deposits up.
3338  Economy / Lending / Re: [WANTED] 240 BTC Loan @ 18% on: October 31, 2012, 08:37:57 PM
Looks like a straightforward loan to me, you lend out USD, get USD + interest back.  Less volatile than lending out BTC, getting BTC + interest back.
I like it!

Well if its the case then I am sure Sgt would take the initial investment in USD no problem...

This is one of the amazing thing of BTC, if you use them as intended, meaning as a transfer medium of value, it enables global lending really easy.

One could buy BTC worth 2500$ and then lend this money to anyone in the world. He then receives 2500$ + interest in BTC back.

Where is the problem in that.

If you only see BTC as investment and don't lend out Fiat, than this is no deal for you.

It really is amazing what different articles you can write out of the same report.

Just compare this (rather well) summary, with that (FUD article): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=121212.0
