3321  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer D3 Blissz firmware (10/12 v1.12 update) on: December 21, 2017, 04:02:46 PM
This has probably been asked before, but are you perhaps considering a similar firmware for L3+?  Smiley
Are you ready do a gift the L3+ for BlissZ for this target?
(without L3+ at-hand impossible do a FW for it)

What fecell is trying to say is that BlissZ doesn't own an L3+, so it would be very difficult to develop modded firmware for it.

Gen Tarkin of KNC Titan 3rd party firmware fame..said he looked at L3+ it is overclocked already, closed source too boot and

the only gains would be the miner software tweaks (cgmnier is it?), Thus no slack in the system.. I think that was the correct

interpretation of 'geek speak'as such...if my memory is correct...

w/o open source it is damn tough ..now if Bitmain would HELP someone him/you etc...fine

but we know THAT is never gonna happen

Looking forward to the next upward surge, which I sense will come VERY soon, it will be BIG, and it will be the new FLOOR for next year's rally to conquer 6-digit-land!

Keep telling yourself that an (currently) unuseable asset will do an upward surge

Quick find more fools who believe in HODL and CHEAP COINZ, all the indian taxi drivers are already invested

I sense 'bitterness' of the flavor of 'missed boats' ...alas, I know the landlocked sway of that sea sickness...

(I remember almost pulling the trigger on Eth ICO at 999 Eth for 1 BTC...when BTC was around $400 usd last year) Ack!

The bitterness will pass, for those that believe in the HODL fairy....., just click two mice together and close your eyes and

mumble....unicorns/fairy dust and pixies....3x and your HODL powers will increase! (you do this in public around people that

know you are HODL'ing and you can NEVER sell....just to prove your pixie dust point...)

but anyway, a few good wins on a couple bucks on BTC pumping...and some rest and you will be fine and in the HODL camp

with the rest of us foo....er I mean 'enlightened types' (don't take away my 'denial of reality' it is all I have) Sad

3323  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: December 21, 2017, 03:42:15 PM
Well, not losing ground....

17.5gh unit (an example mine does 16gh) at 1200 watts (what mine gets at 16gh) at 12c kWh comes out to:

$5.80 (dash) (probably better on a multi-coin pool like prohashing.

https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/calculator/dash?HashingPower=17.5&HashingUnit=GH%2Fs&PowerConsumption=1200&CostPerkWh=0.12

I have a 19.2gh D3 that does get a bit over that...between the two..I get about 35gh even

or for both per day

$11.60 per day....

As an example of the 'unfairness of life," my Nov 8th, 2014 300mh KNC Titan Scrypt-Pow ASIC miner (still running today) makes

$9.39 a day 100% on Prohashing point to LTC.

So yeah, my 2014 machine is almost making 2x the Bitman D3 I got 2 months ago. FML.

The Titan was a few weeks ago making less than the $5.80 per day than the D3....but prices changed for LTC and POW-Scrypt,

we can only hope for more price rises for x11 coins...but it is all 'hope and mirrors' now.it is out of our hands....but that is quite the difference age/$$$/etc

for admittedly different flavor ASIC machines.

ON THE OTHER HAND the 300mh Baikal Cube I ran this last summer just on DASH ...(then in like Sept put it on Prohashing and with D3's and all to LTC)

at 6.51 Dash at $1,392.70 as I look at this for Dash.... or a total of $9,066.48... lol Smiley

So, I'm taking the cowards way out on the Bitmain D3's and instead of saying my Bitmain 2 D3 units of dubious purchase fame...will likely never ROI with electric...

I NOW say on my X11 mining experiences of choosing equipment have made ROI! Smiley

I just have to toss the 300mh Baikal cube in with the other 2 D3's and yes 'MY EGO IS SAVED"

(It's all about me damn it!)

Life is so frigging weird...

omg, you have 10 000 BTC?
I think what the guy meant is the price of BTC hitting $10K back in Nov is allowing him to retire. Congrats

yeah what you said...hitting 10k as a backstop in price for BTC, mentally, ..well, hell, I don't need it crypto to retire...but as a backstop to pull the trigger it was dandy

having it in place...thus took the leap!

3326  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / How Could Bitcoin Core (BTC), Stop, Bitcoin Cash (BCH) in its tracks? on: December 21, 2017, 01:45:32 PM
Well to start of this thread...below is my probably 'too simple' theory....

If I was bitcoin core...I'd either

1) pull Lighting out of my hat....and get some of that moving..razzle dazzle etc

or

2) do a hard fork, just to slap down Bitcoin Cash to about 800 bucks again at most, might not

be ideal, but better the decentralized group slap the BCH spam'ing centralized group now with a hard fork, I figure, then watch 'Rome burns'

with ludicrous fees!

(Actually, if I was core, I'd be pissed off enough to just do both...then all that BCH would come home to 'mama' Smiley

A daydream I know..but how long can core put up with the spam'ing and high transaction fees w/o hard fork

on their part? not sure....seems sucky to be bitcoin core right now unless all or some of the above is done "pronto"

yeah, yeah, I know ...if wishes were horses...etc/etc

To Stop Bitcoin Cash...what could Bitcoin Core do?

An update..have to stall on my retirement....even private stuff has to go thru my states web based healthcare www site...

all insurance apps go thru this state site. (The state got scam'd by some Insurer's in years past...so this acts as a 'gate' to watch them, is the logic)

they messed it up ..said I make no income, oops......that is in NO way correct,  until they fix it...can't get on the site to reapply.

Been in limbo for 16 days.

Thus, keeping the job until I get the private medical card in my hot little hands and then retire, so it sucks but what can you do.

I plan on retiring here within the month if lucky.

(trying to wrap stuff up at work and make the move health care etc...a pain!)

But, trying to be a responsible adult...don't need crypto to retire but it is a nice 'backstop' even if never used...

I am still minng, though at the rate all flavors of crypto is going up..it MAY be unlikely I will get any mining equip

again this year, just because....makes no sense ..(even if the equip did have good roi and not expensive ...which is iffy)

Thus filling up the following buckets as best I can, and all can be taken off like equip and elec from gross income..(including any crypto cash out of coins)

1) solo 401k self-employed socked w/as much as allowed for 2017.

2) solo 401k self-employed socked w/as much as allowed for 2018. (estimated..kept in an account as cash till prudent to fill it up)

3) electric/rent/etc from data hall and miners in basement

4) all medical insurance can be taken off gross if you are self-employed...thus with mining...set aside 2 years for that (also in cash for use or full buy out yearly)

5) an emergency fund of as much as I can think of needed for House/Medical/etc

Now, most will say ...why not keep all that in crypto...the 2017 and solo 2018 plans you can put your assets in crypto (after they go in as cash) but as my CPA
says, likely that is the last crypto you ever want to cash out!)

The other stuff is just peace of mind...I have been in crypto since 2013...I was there when 10 days or so, before the 2014 April deadline of doing taxes...the IRS

dropped the 2013 guidelines bomb out of spite..and I had to go to CPA and do a correction....which was fine....all that nice equip deductions! NO taxes paid!

But still, that is NOT why the IRS waited till 10 days before..was just to screw with us...so best to be aware they can always still drop a shoe, before April...

As to the Coinbase demand, of 2017, we want ALL your info on all 15 million folks on Coinbase...including passwords, because we found 3 people cheating w/IRS
using coinbase....

well having an emergency fund, above and beyond the solo 401k retirement stuff of 2017 and 2018 ..and also have my health insurance paid up in full up until
I'm 65 years old> (2 years)...I plan on taking my Soc Sec at 66 and 3 months which is the full status on such...

All seems prudent

so

1) IF BTC does its past history of a 30% correction, I can pat myself on the back and have all this cleaned up and in place, and pat myself on the back.

2) IF BTC and other cryptos I have tripled in value or something, and I had this stuff out in cash too soon, on this me being cautious....well, that won't matter much

at those prices to me either...

win/win/win

time/backups/pump (or so I hope)

anyway, how I'm approaching mining in 2018 and free some crypto back to $$$.....

I used to do the above as a 'hedge' with equip ...betting like this...but with solo 401k and electric/data hall rent, now medical insurance all ACTING LIKE equipment
in being taken off my gross earnings in 2018.....why get dubious miners (at least until say June 2018..maybe for fun look around)

Again, beats...betting on March orders of L3+'s and other dubious cryptos for hardware stuff from Bitmain in 2018, esp with solo 401k and medical, being an IRS hedge
Just like, equip off my gross income

Anyway, times to buy equip and times not to buy equip, now is not the time for me and the above...but likely MAY crack on this around JULY 2018.....if/when some

product comes up that makes sense....but anyway, how I'm playing with the wealth...trying to be prudent in case 30-50% goes poof....

whatever you do for planning it is all about protecting the ego, don't ya know.....so even again if all crypto's pump 3-10x again.....

I have my reasons in place, for doing the above...

my 2 mbits worth!

later

brad

edit: solo 401k link....

https://www.checkbookira.com/

Again, that above works for medical all off gross income too, IF you are set up as self-employed in the USA, (ie mining) IT must come from Income...site has

on the solo401k has a calculator on how much you make 'self-employed' with a solo 401k you can put aside...anyway, the link is for details, on solo 401k.

Get a good local CPA is also a good idea if you want to phase stuff out like this. (example, all my job income last 6 months has gone into Health Insurance,

Health Savings Account, Work Retirement Plan (yep I can do that and the solo401k), Dental, and take a mess extra out for anticipated State and Federal

Taxes I may owe....if too much ...I'll get a big refund...as a result, my job has been paying me (most of this is pre-tax stuff) $24.11 every 2 weeks for months.

lol Smiley

anyway, it is all about protecting the ego, if things go 'pear-shaped' ..thus if crypto corrects 30% or more...I will feel prudent....as a good move....If crypto goes

nuts an say triples in price...the above won't matter much...and I will feel even more prudent Smiley

Heh...KNC miner ...wise move taking all that investment money..and then *gasp* stating that the "halving' was coming...(boy, we are surprised) we just can't make

any money with this bitcoin mining anymore here in Sweden etc...due to the Chinese...

https://news.bitcoin.com/knc-miner-bankruptcy-shutting-down/

truth be told, these clowns (ex-bankers some of them) never believed in crypto or BTC...thus took the money and ran with it...leaving investors in the lurch....

The funny thing is IF they had waited 4 months IMHO, they would have been golden and wracking up the cash yet.....

serves them right, when the money hit on their first batches of ASIC units...it was like all that cash turned them from Nun to Porn Star in a period of 6 months

this was around January 2014......and they went full evil from there, again in my view.....

Anyway, just an aside for the thread.....serves them right thou Smiley

3332  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin Cash replace Bitcoin?? on: December 21, 2017, 03:31:19 AM
Yes it is quite possible. If Bitcoin cannot overcome its flaws then it will eventually be surpassed.

heh..at this rate verge is going to pass both Smiley

3333  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin Cash replace Bitcoin?? on: December 20, 2017, 01:42:18 PM
Just one month ago I thought that it can't happen at all, but now it really seems that BCH can overcome the genuine bitcoin in 1-2 years.

the other shoe is gonna drop either

1) lightning works out to stall some of this and have the sidechain action

or

2) bitcoin core will simply do a 'hard fork' themselves...because they will NOT let it fade
to bitcoin cash etc, too much $$$ and too much hard feelings)

tell him I sent you

but if he says it is fixable you may have the same problem too much to expect vs price

good luck

Brad

Many thanks, Brad!  Smiley

let us know what Lightfoot thinks of the pictures.....if nothing else, you at least will know if nothing is salvable.

I mean, depending on price to fix..this may be do'able .... but even Lightfoot may tell you it is too expensive to fix

and find out the tweaks did not take in the repair. Be nice if you could salvage at least 1 board, for the heck of it.

I cant wait untill Dragonmint, Japans 7nm, Bitfury's expansion etc comes into the mining game to eat marketshare from Jihan.

All miners can mine whatever they want but it should not be at the cost of the quality of the Bitcoin network.

The Chinese mining cartel plays with that and i dont like it at all. The network works just fine if they did there job, the mempool will be bone dry and user will be enjoying those nice $0.10-$1 Segwit tx fee's.

Fuck Jihan Fuck Roger! I'll never forget what they did and Karma will be a major bitch for Roger!

Beware! It think that it may not come to pass as fast as you think...(if not vaporware).

The last 2 or 3 back in the day new miners that tried to compete with Bitmain of any ASIC flavor....

have decided instead to just mine like hell their product......due to price changes etc, by the time the stuff shipped

anyway, how I see mining after 4 years of doing it...seems this is even more likely with sha-256 prices to make a data hall

for yourself and not sell the stuff

Brian Armstrong already doing damage control over BCash insider trading allegations. Lol. They're gonna be so screwed if its true.

Yeah, if he was legit and did not plan this, it sure does not look good...could not have timed it better to look illegal..

I mean he dumped BTC at its high...for BCH, and the next day BCH pumps 50% or more.................yep, that would be me if I was a whale....

Posted this on another thread..but bears repeating, IMHO.

Is it just me...or does it seem that BCH jumps up in price quite a bit......drama/angst/etc...then about 24 hours or less

later.....BTC goes up to more or less previous value...and the big switcharoo? And Blamo! The whales have turned $$$

to BCH and then BCH into BTC.

(This could not be that cynical a process right? Evolution of Humanity to a Bigger and Brighter Future Right?)

Anyway, seems like this is getting as common as sun up each day in the east, and set in the west.

Could this really be that simple a reason that BCH was made?

Rinse/Wash/Repeat?

A 'newbie' perpetual ATM machine?

Naw! Jihan Wu and Bitmain and the others pumping BCH, would not stoop that low, right?

Heh, I crack myself up!

Bingo. Because Occam's Razor.

But shhh, don't come to enlightened realizations like that around here. Lest someone accuse you of being a conspiracy theorist.  Roll Eyes

yeah, put this on a BCH thread to rile them up.... and/on here about 3 folks will see it before it scrolls away Smiley

but, I'm JUST not evil enough to be good at this whole evil genius Jihan Wu and Bitmain, kinda Voodoo that he does so well.....

3339  Economy / Economics / Re: Regulating Bitcoin on: December 20, 2017, 01:01:44 PM

The only thing recently that I found of note on Crypto Regulation (ie and BTC) is below:

https://www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/26/1.451-2

It gives me some small hope, that by NOT touching/moving to wallet/ or anything on my BCH that fell from the sky

at $280 USD, I think it was when it hit the world....with the above IRS link above, I may not, be required by the

IRS to pay for this as income ... (falling from the sky, snap dab into my blockchain address)

My CPA says, if you moved it to a wallet and did not spend it..you MIGHT be still OK. But iffy.

Anyway, just thought I'd pass it along. I was kinda wondering a lot about this, (and of course the 22 forks BTC since,

from my last count, hell for all I know there are BCH forks!)

Anyway, my outta sight, outta mind, the play seems to have worked. (Good thing, because I would have spent it if it was easy)

Then again, someplace on bitcointalk, I promptly announced BCH would drop to 12 cents. Yeah, I'm a regular 'price savant'

in the 'wrong direction'

anyway, just thought I'd pass this along on this thread..if you too are watching BCH and thinking massive BCH price failure and being

dead wrong.....unsettling Sad

BITCOIN the most resilient crypto in the universe

I posted this on another thread...but for the few eyeballs here ...before it is lost in the volume of Wall Observer Thread

here goes..what I see going on:

So anyway, I obviously am not playing this whole crypto game at the Major League level.....(I figure at best I'm in Advanced T-Ball)

Wow, whales at play...of any crypto flavor.....damn!
