This is what happens when society chooses to go cheap on education.  Cheesy If you thought college was expensive wait until you see what stupid is going to cost us.
3342  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Yemeni fighters attack Houthis as aid flights delayed on: April 08, 2015, 05:42:32 PM
If you think there are a lot of conspiracies here, it's epic in the Mid-East. According to Houthi (the founder) 9/11 was Al-Qaeda and the CIA trying to persecute him specifically.

Yeah, that makes sense.  Roll Eyes
3343  Economy / Speculation / Re: How hard will you try to sell your bags now? on: April 08, 2015, 05:29:00 PM
I'm left holding the bag.  Cry

The bag of MONEY!!11!   Cheesy
3344  Economy / Speculation / Re: One thing I don't understand about pump and dump ... on: April 08, 2015, 05:25:56 PM
I have a theory. A traditional P&D is done with stocks. You hype the price and let the speculators drive the price beyond it's value, then you divest and leave everyone else holding the bag when reality returns. This causes a collapse of the price and the issuing company may fold as a result.

Since bitcoin is not a company and does not need money in the first place this process can be repeated again and again.  It does not hurt bitcoin but is a brutal game for those who fancy themselves as "investors".

Funny stuff.   Cheesy
3346  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Statements that precede bitcoin poverty on: April 08, 2015, 03:49:20 PM
I thought it would be fun to add your "famous last words" in the bitcoin economy. Perhaps it will also help out a newbie who is considering the various options for bitcoin use. Here are my examples of...

~Statements the precede bitcoin poverty~

"I just found a website that can double my bitcoins!"

".... PayPal .... loan"

Surely someone here is funnier than that. Your turn.

3347  Economy / Economics / Re: About Bitcoin Foundation: Who is Lindsay Holland w/ $160k salary - $13k/month on: April 08, 2015, 03:39:46 PM
Thanks for that incisive and devastating critique. I was thinking that the bitcoin world might have been running low on truly intelligent and charismatic leaders who could take it forward through the current challenges, assuage the fears of the public that bitcoin was just a motley collection of internet trolls out to scam all they could and to illuminate a path to guide it to a glorious future.

You are that person. Only you could call a board member a "dumb whore" based on ... What exactly? Oh, she is a woman.   Shocked

He is a good example of why we need a BF. Is he representing you; some 12 year old boy?  We can just put them on ignore, but what about a serious person who wants to know more about BTC? What is she going to make of his childlike views and obvious ignorance about women?
To be clear I don't want to censor him. Let him dig his hole and rant on. For him it's probably really about the cute girls who made fun of him in sixth grade.

I want her job!

How much do you want per month? 13k dollars or more? Why didn't they (all member) receive bitcoin isntead of dollars? Come on guys it is a bitcoin foundation,  not a dollar foundation.
They were given the choice. She chose wisely.
3348  Other / Politics & Society / Re: “Smart Meters” Being Used In Cali To Crack Down And Find People “Wasting Water”… on: April 08, 2015, 03:24:50 PM
I was there last week and man, its already a disaster. The farmers are now starting to sell their water shares because it is more profitable than farming. It could be that in 50 years L.A. becomes a dried up ghost town.
The "wasted" water is not just going to go into some pipes underground and be available for Cali again. The water is going to stay on Earth, but it will move out of the region. That whole area is a desert and only blooms when you bring in water from the mountains. This year the snow-pack is down to 12% and the reservoirs are mostly dry.  As the water evaporates into the desert air it is carried East and will likely fall past the rain shadow of the Rocky Mountains.
L.A. is living on borrowed time.

...
I believe she left the Foundation partly because of annoying misogynistic Internet trolls like the ones found in this very thread....
And it was a shame. She was one of those people who turns ideas into action and gets the job done. She was one of the most competent bitcoiners I have met.

Did she sell all her Bitcoins in disgust?  After she quit the Bitcoin foundation because of all the h8r5, i mean?
Not sure? My guess is she still uses them.

3351  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Violates Principle of Fungibility on: April 07, 2015, 07:47:13 PM
I dunno. I would consider it less fungible if the price were lower for some listed coins. However there is always someone who will buy them at full market value. Any blacklist would be a voluntary system and such systems never work broadly because everyone has to agree to leave money on the table.

There is also the problem of washing such coins. Its easy and makes "coloring" coins or assigning "taint" a pointless exercise.
3352  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Palestine & israel? What do you think about that situation? on: April 07, 2015, 07:37:53 PM
...
Israel is nothing special. Israel is just a normal country like all others. Don't be too arrogant. ...

That is a message I am down with also. The days of thinking of Israel as a victim are over for me. They are stealing land and refuse to recognize that as a blatant criminal act. Not that I'm a Hamas supporter, but Israel has created an apartheid state and can blame itself as much as anyone for it's problems.
3353  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hello Is there any genuine Bitcoin Multiplier ? on: April 07, 2015, 07:22:24 PM
ask yourself this:
If there were a way to double bitcoins why would that person want or need your bitcoins?
These are scams and the only doubling of bitcoins will be theirs doubling because of your contribution. Forget the idea of "investing" in BTC. Just spend them the way God and Satoshi meant for them to be used.
3354  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fingerprint private key on: April 07, 2015, 07:13:43 PM
I would be worried not only about creating it online, but the inherent security of finger print scanners. I bought one to experiment with security for my laptop. It was cool. But once it was working properly the hacker in me set out to defeat it. Unfortunately it was easy. I lifted my print from a drinking glass with Scotch tape and pencil lead dust (not even superglue vapor). I placed the tape on a different finger and scanned it. It was far too easy.  Undecided
3355  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wall Street Bank BNY Mellon Experimenting With Bitcoin Rewards on: April 07, 2015, 04:27:12 PM
I dont think they can create altcoins to transfer value because this coin they will have value only among the bank employers or maybe custormers(if customers accept that Tongue). In the other hand Bitcoin has a global value
That is why I was worried about this quote: "redeemed for gift cards and other rewards"
That implies BK coins only have value within their system. No different than "awards points" or "frequent flier miles". Just a coupon that they control the value of. No thanks.
3356  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wall Street Bank BNY Mellon Experimenting With Bitcoin Rewards on: April 07, 2015, 03:56:41 PM
Hmm. "BK coins" sound more like an alt coin? The bankers must be high to think I would want a bank created alt.

3357  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin takes the west coast! on: April 07, 2015, 03:51:53 PM
... Have you found those places randomly, just by walking around the town, or did you look them up (ie on CoinMap)?
Ah yes. I used coinmap. And I did not visit all them. But it was cool to walk down the street and know that if I need dry cleaning I could pay with BTC.

...
Was this basically what you saw: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CBdk1zAUsAEllD9.jpg:large
That is not the exact one, but it is surely related. Thanks! It was black and the same font. I was in an Uber cab and so I did not see it very well.
You didn't know that about SF? It's kind of been ground zero for Bitcoin since the beginning. The first time I put names to faces for the people on this forum was at The Future of Money & Technology Summit in Feburary 2011 at the Kabuki in SF. I still have the pictures somewhere. I got to meet Tony Gallippi, Jered Kenna and all the big names at the time. I hope you got to go to Cup and Cakes bakery for some of the best cupcakes in the world available for Bitcoin. Coinbase is located over near AT&T Park. Too bad I didn't know you were going I would have taken you to The Boulevard on embarcadero for lunch (I get a discount because my brother-in-law works there lol).
Damn, I missed a free lunch? lol Thanks anyway.
I did know SF was a leader. I was at the San Jose conference in 2013, but was still shocked at how it has grown. I was waiting for someone to ask me if I had any spare Satoshi instead of change.
Sadly, I had neither cup nor cake.
3358  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The truth about the Bitcoin Foundation on: April 07, 2015, 03:23:31 PM
The levers of supply and their control over the movement of money are things not possible with bitcoin.

sure their not? as we speak bitcoin powers to be are trying to hold a monopoly over cryptocurrency, under the guise of alts being a distraction from the main game  Shocked sidechains and the like  Roll Eyes

bankers and their monopolies  Lips sealed
I know what you mean, but I must go along with their games for me to be duped. With fiat you can be ripped off in broad daylight and there is nothing you can do about it. My friends in the banking space tell me that they no longer laugh at bitcoin. It is starting to be recognized as a real threat. There will a response, perhaps some kind of campaign to paint crypto as dangerous and credit card companies as your friend.

Bottom line is that banks compete with you for bitcoins and can't stop you from using them. It's the first time they have had to face the specter of people engaged in commerce without their approval. More importantly, without them receiving a cut.
3359  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The truth about the Bitcoin Foundation on: April 07, 2015, 02:34:32 PM
So many words, so little understanding.

words spoken by a true bitcoin foundation life member in it for the fiat

example even from just your last post ; "k, I didn't get rich arguing about bitcoin. I got here understanding it."

so I ask you whats the point of being a alternative to the greedy bankers controlled fiat, if those in control of bitcoin are the new greedy bankers?
Well that was in response to a claim that credit cards are cheaper than BTC. But anyway, I have no problem with the greed of banks, I expect it. The problem is that they have gamed the monetary system to keep the poor poor and the rich rich. The levers of supply and their control over the movement of money are things not possible with bitcoin. To me, bitcoin is just fair money and greed is a basic human behavior. The two are not related.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll give it a try.  Smiley

You mentioned "Black Mirror". That was a cool and weird show. Anyone who can stomach the first episode you will love it!
