2401  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do islam hates people? on: September 14, 2015, 03:43:35 PM
So, the short version is some anonymous guy may have said this crazy thing. Maybe that happened. In Islam there are no priests and anyone can study the Koran then issue an opinion. But there is a lot wrong with this starting with the fake name, which translates into something like the "bloody butcher".

Nothing is binding about this supposed position. Kinda like a deacon at a local church saying Jesus does not want race mixing. Sure the deacon could say that, but it will not be believed or adopted by the parishioners.
2402  Other / Off-topic / Re: What's the story behind your bitcointalk username? on: September 11, 2015, 08:19:13 PM
In the 1990's I was a wilderness guide and military trainer. The logistics teams labeled our gear with nicknames and the one they gave me was "Rodeo". That is because I was in rodeo in high school (I sucked, by the way). Later I worked on war simulator software for the U.S. Army and my game name became "RodeoX". I have been RodeoX ever since. I even tricked the phone company into having a home phone number under that name.

Where were these people when when dickhead cheney was inventing an enemy in Iraq? Seems like nobody wants to hear the truth anymore unless it is what they want to hear. The fact is we have already lost the war in the mid-east. And we lost it while congratulating each other on a job well done.
2404  Economy / Lending / Re: Loans? on: September 11, 2015, 05:55:30 PM
Know that there are many scammers here and in the loan section especially. If you plan to ask for a loan or even buy coins here then you will likely need at least one of the following:

Collateral:
The lender may want to hold something of greater value until the debt is paid off. It could be a car title or, well... a lot of things could work. There is a reason why a bank requires this and it is the same here.

Escrow:
In this system a trusted third party holds the until the buyer and seller are satisfied that all terms have been met. The escrow can then release the coins.

Identity:
Some may not do business with an anonymous user and may want to have an identity to hand over to the police in the event a scam is attempted.

If you are considering a loan as a way to get bitcoins then please reconsider. It is probably the most expensive and risky way to get them and you should not be surprised if your money is taken and there never were any coins. It is better to use the exchanges, in my opinion.
2405  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's your opinion of gun control? on: September 11, 2015, 05:38:12 PM
IMO, people should be given the choice whether whey want to own a fire-arm or not. In places like Texas, where home invasions are very common, the possession of a fire-arm can save many lives. However, the government should make it impossible for people with a criminal record, and those with mental issues from obtaining fire-arms.

It sound`s nice in teory, but in real life who will judge about who have mental issues or criminal record or problem with wife and her lover. Much better would be with no gun`s at all, it would be much less suffering in the world.

I agree with you about the difficulty of determining who is stable enough. That is why we have rigorous background checks for things like carry licenses. However, violence and cruelty did not start with the invention of the gun and would not go away if all the guns magically disappeared. Violence is not caused by machines it is a behavior that has been present since before we were humans.

Of course violence and cruelty did not start with invetion of the gun, but without so much weapons there would be less crimes, and I wish to believe that we are on much bigger mind level then we were before what we are now. In anyway I think that its not good what guns represent and what kind of message send`s to younger generation`s.

I wish I knew a way to take the violence out of someone. If they understood the pain and grief they cause maybe they would reconsider? But history has no precedent for a violence free society. Some have less, some have more, all have some.

But I do not agree that the number of guns is the factor that counts. Where I grew up everyone had a gun, and I mean every single household. Shooting was something we all did for fun with our friends and family. But there was not a single incidence of gun violence there. ( Although I do recall a guy who shot himself accidentally while climbing a tree stand.)

Later when I moved to a city that had banned the carrying of guns I saw gun violence all the time. My neighbor across the street was shot to death in a robbery, my GF had two home invasions in a year, another friend who taught poor kids how to fix bikes was shot by a 12 year old boy, I heard shots all the time and always by someone who should never have a had a gun in the first place.

Now I live in a time when gun violence is actually at historic lows and I carry every day. But to exercise that right I have had to get background checks by the FBI, with fingerprints and all. I trust this system and when I see someone carrying at a restaurant, I know that we are all safer there. It is not the people who legally carry who are involved in these shootings. It is the usual suspects who are well known to police and mental health officials. The people we failed to help or include in society and that, unsurprisingly, act out violently. If you want to make a dent in the violence tell me what you propose to do with theses people. Because another gun law makes no difference to them and will only be obeyed by those of us who were never a threat in the first place, indeed the ones who might be able to help when the shooting starts.

Since i've no idea what that mean...should I have to worried for the fund that I kept on blockchain ?
No. Your safe. It's just that some group has taken it on themselves to launch a "stress test" to try overloading the network with spam transactions. They will be cleared out and the network will go back to normal eventually.
2408  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wtf is happening in the last days? Funding to da mooon! on: September 10, 2015, 05:46:28 PM
Whether or not these companies mean bitcoin when they say blockchain is a good question. If they are just creating their own alt-coin then I think they are in for a big disappointment. First they are going to find out that no one is going to spend money on electricity to run their network. Next they will find themselves in direct competition with bitcoin. The consumer then has the choice of a coin that is controlled by a bank, distributed by a bank, priced by a bank, and only works at the bank. Or one could have universal money that works the world over for pennies and can not be controlled by a bank.  Which would you choose?
They won't need anyone else to run their network, just pick a custom algorithm and put it on some servers and keep it closed, who else would be able to attack it without knowing the algorithm or why would they care except for malicious purposes.
Absolutely true. However the budget just went up significantly with the need for data centers and all that hardware. Guess who is going to pay for all that? So now I'm paying more for a closed system that does God knows what with my identity. Not a selling point for me.

+Paymium Raises €1 Million to Boost Bitcoin Merchant Onboarding
This one caught my eye. It is hard to get funding for this because it favors more players that those who invest in it. It is really more industry level funding that seeks to boost all players.
2412  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: How about creating a Point of Sale device that integrates Bitcoin and cards? on: September 10, 2015, 02:39:14 PM
There are some. Even square can use them. The problem is that vendors don't know this. But yes, POS devices that take BTC is huge.

Could you link me to a page explaining how Bitcoin is used with Square?
I think this will help. I have actually used this when buying lunch in Portland. It was the cash register version that you see in coffee shops everywhere. The one that prompts you to tip some percentage by clicking a button. The only difference was that it presented me with a QR code.

"Wat? When I was a boy nickles had bumble bees on them. Give me two bees for a dime, we would say." "Back then we wore an onion on our belt, which was the style. Of course we could only get white onions, because of the war...."

Ok Grandpa.  Undecided

Isn't there another "stress test" today? I thought I saw something about it last week. Not that anyone asked for such a test.

2416  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Newbie needs $200 of btc ( payment via Serve to Serve) on: September 09, 2015, 08:01:54 PM
This is my first trade on here, so how much does it cost to have a escrow on here? My price asking for no more than -8% , equivalent around $259.xx . thanks for leading to the right direction.
There are no rules, but generally the buyer pays escrow and 1% seems reasonable. Most legit people here will not do business without escrow because there is zero security without it. If I were you I would pay 7% and apply the last 1% to escrow. The seller gets less, but payment is all but assured.
2417  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Can I use Bitcoin in Iceland? on: September 09, 2015, 07:54:23 PM
It's way cheaper than it was...
That's good to know. It certainly looks amazing and, since I always wanted to be an ice age caveman, I think I would love it.
On a side note, there was a user here who lived in Iceland. At least I thought so. He used to sell "cursed bones", which I think is a Yupik tradition of carving bones into scary monsters. The most sought after are made from human bones.
2418  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where can I buy Bitcoins with my phone? on: September 09, 2015, 03:26:45 PM
I need some BTC (~$4) but the only money I have access to is the credit on my phone at the moment. Is there anywhere I can so so?
Cheers.
You can't buy Bitcoins with your "Phone Credit". If you have "Credit/Debit Card" try buying at Circle.
If he is in Africa it may still work. Lots of people there use phone credit as money.
2419  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Can I use Bitcoin in Iceland? on: September 09, 2015, 03:24:56 PM
Yeah, I understood they have a very healthy mining industry growing in Iceland. Geothermal energy, basically the only thing that comes cheap in Iceland, helps some of the biggest players. So it is not "prohibited" by any means.

Dinner for one, without wine, at a mediocre restaurant in Iceland costs about $100 USD, so I would bring plenty btc with you, probably cheaper than exchanged fiat.

What I don't know is... How willing are merchants to accept it?

I hear it's beautiful there but too rich for my blood btc or no
It may be too much for me also. The only reason I am considering it is because my wife keeps bringing it up as a place she wants to go. When I ask why, she is not sure.

If we go our current plan is to rent a camper van and drive around the country. It is free and easy to camp in Iceland and if you cook your own food it is less expensive. Still, the more I find out about the place the less attractive it becomes as a tourist.

Grin So Muhammed pliagerized? How come I am not suprised. This same religion preaches hate, violence, statutory rape, Jihad etc.
Get your facts straight.Perhaps you are not following the thread properly and posting after reading the title Angry

My facts are right. I read this news on another website. If true, then it implies that "Gabriel" did not give Muhammed the 1st copy of the Quran as is widely believed by muslims. It means Muhanmed lied .
No your facts are not right.

He thought "a little voice in his head" was the angel Gabriel.
That's right. In reality he might have been having a epileptic seizure, or some other mystical experience brought on by natural causes, or he made it up? Belief in visions had a huge following in the era after Rome fell and before the renaissance.

For example, from the 10th. century:
And again I heard a voice from Heaven saying to me, 'Cry out therefore, and write thus!'
-Hildegard of Bingen
